This is really a change of pace compared to other stories. I like it, it's realistic. In the army, the enemy isn't attacking at every moment. It is 90 percent boredom, with 10 percent heart-wrenching fear.

Or so my Grandpa says (he was in D-Day). Two thumbs up.

 *claps, is happy*
nice job... the story is compelling and keeps bringing me back.
The dialogue is actually lifelike, not canned like some other stories here.
It's nice to see the question marks fixed.

Don't worry, the briefing he went to said there going out to battle in the morrow. Just another option for me to use, I can string the battle out forever or just make it a chapter or two and return to base life. Time will tell

I actually like the slow pace of the story of Warren's life. It makes it feel more personal. But I think there would have to be a point in time where Warren and the troops would be sent out into the field to attack the Covenant base. That way, there could be more action in the scene. But so far, good story.

Thanks. I think the reason that I can make that long-term type of war work in this series in because I haven't really said which side is stronger, so for now you have to assume that each side is pretty equal and can't afford a costly attack (although I do have the UNSC attacking now). I'm using vagueness as a shield here.

Anyway, I hope people don't try to bash me just because I haven't included much action. I wanted to paint the picture of everyday life of on a UNSC base, where there is a lot of boring day-to-day stuff punctuated by brief flashes of action. Pure action stories are way overrated, if you ask me. Well, I'm off to read your new chapter now.

 *Applauds*

Hmm... it wasn't much in this story, but it occured to me that, because of advanced technology and a lot of room to move around, war with the Covenant would be very fast-paced--say, if they took a planet by ground, three days max. I don't think anywhere but Halo, and not really even there, could you conduct a long-term type guerilla (or not) warfare. Not enough time.

 But anyways...

I liked it a lot. This series shows a lot of promise.
