I know that I'm new and all and this is way off topic, but only people with reinforced skeletons can wear it without breaking bones when they move, So... I can think of someone outside the HALO universe with a reinforced skeleton and retractible claws who would totally kick ass in MJOLNIR armor, no?

Hey its cool. I didn't explain it well enough anyway, I suppose.
As for the composition of the armor, it IS more than 500 years in the future, and look how far we've come since 500 years ago.
Many new developments in technology are an exponetial leap over previous technology (for instance in computers, breakthroughs happen on an average of every eight months), so the cutting edge armor 500 YEARS from now would be so sophisticated that there would be nothing remotely like it in the world today.
New elements would have been discovered, having either been created in the laboratory or found on the worlds humanity inhabitated, and those could be included in its composition as well.
Whew. Truce?

I suppose I should probably defend my position by letting you know that I also read the Fall of Reach. The armor in the story wasn't actually that strong. Unlike in the game, the armor can be melted through with relative ease. That is, after all, the way Samuel - 034 bought the farm...
That armor was not likely to be made of titanium, titanium alone couldn't make it through all of the Chief's battles...Likely some composite involving other alloys. I want to say Osmium or Iridium but I doubt that it would be as light as the book described it if the armor contained either of those. Osmium also is vulnerable to certain things, too so my guess for the armor would be mostly titanium, probably some carbon-steel composite, and some sort of other composite that can contain crystals for dispersing/refracting/deflecting energy weapons. I can't see how this would realy add up but it IS a videogame so I have to give it some lee way...
They could just have gone with a well crafted IRIDIUM suit and every one of these problems could be solved but NOOOOOOO Bungie HAD to go with a MIX of alloys and "Many layers of alloy" (partial quote from manual) to make it sound all scifi-ish.... *ahem*....yeah...
then again, and iridium suit would really defeat the chalange of the game.... the chief's armor would need even more than an 8-gauge automatic magnum buck-shot shot gun to penetate ... You might want to try that in your story. A powered iridium suit/ walker would make for really good close support. You can't make a suit of it though, the helmet alone would crush a marine.... just more useless crap from me.

Dude.. you need to get your technology straight.
An LED is a Light Emitting Diode... they would have a single blinking light in ther eyes.
Kevlar is not that effective when you lace it in with your fatigues, it needs structural support. Otherwise, bullets can melt right through it.
MJOLNIR is the "spartan armor". It is also VERY difficult to strip it down and make it fit under fatigues. MJOLNIR armoring alone is incredibly thick, that's what makes it strong. Aside from developing covenant or forerunner grade alloys, there really isn't a way to make the armor more efficient. I seriously doubt that humans would be able to make stuff that good.
Your naming of the weapons is a bit unoriginal but that doesn't matter much.

Thanks for setting me straight about the LED thing. I thought about what Kevlar-laced fatigues would be like so I put them into the story, but I understand what you're saying so I'll change that.
And Berconius, I know all about MJOLNIR armor, having read the Fall of Reach more than once. I refered to it as "spartan armor" because it was from the viewpoint of a Marine, not Dr. Halsey.
When I said their armor was modeled after it I didn't mean that they "stripped it down" and walked around with thinner MJOLNIR suits under their uniforms, I meant that their armor plates (like you see on Marines in Halo) possessed a molecular composition identical to that of MJOLNIR (which makes them very strong), but in plate form and thinner so they wouldn't be so heavy that a non biologically-enhanced human could wear them. In my story it also says that they have armor plates.
Also in FoR, it gives the impression that the armor is strong because of its unique alloy, not because of how thick it is. MC wore the same suit throughout many missions (FoR says so), and if the strength of the armor relied on how many inches thick it was I'm sure that soon it would have been whittled down and had to be replaced.
I'm sorry for any confusion about that and in the future will try to make it clearer. And Knightmare, thanks for the cigar suggestions, will put them in.

Hey, it wasn't that bad. Give 'em a break. The Spartan armor thing would be possible... just no shields. As mentioned, it's plates covered in refractive alloy, or something.
The plates are made of titanium, i believe. I'm going to have to agree with you on the kevlar, though. Just like a soccer net, it needs a skeleton to hold it in. Otherwise it'd be like... very resistant-to-tear.
Anyway, I liked the dialogue in this story, keep it up. You're a little loose with some of the stuff... I can likely see the pilot being mauled for misuse of various UNSC facilities, the unneccessary endangerment of UNSC personnel etc.
Otherwise, keep it up. Oh, and if that pilot smokes again... have somebody, some random Covenant trooper, perhaps; light it with a plasma bolt. ; )
