Chapter 8- Destruction and Devestation
Brent was in with the Master Chief again, so was Foster, Zack and Zander were the back line of the attacking force. The pelican they were in roared over the scenery below them. Brent saw only flashes of trees and rivers, He held out his head watching the beautiful yet deadly ring. Chief was strapped in next to him thinking of a plan incase all else failed.
"If last things last we could board all marines on one ship and well you get my drift."
"We won't fail so don't think about it!" Cortana prefferd to go back to earth with both ships. They arrived at the battle field already with the other 4 pelicans in place setting troops up near the entrance. Major Hickson will lead the troops into battle when the time is ready, so Master Chief was told by Gral.
"4 snipers will set up after the first wave off attackers and provide as much coverfire as they can. The 4 snipers are as followed- Robinson, Smith, Jackson, and Nickson." Chief remembered every word.
"You will lead the charge into the bottom of the strucutre, This won't be a picnic they probably have a nest in there so be careful." Grals words passed in a daze and flew out the door from Chiefs thoughts.
"After you enter you'll give the signal to have 3 pelicans enter the nest and drop to your location and pick you up taking you and Cortana to the control panel. Of course by this time we will have already given a full force to the flood making them bring out rienforcements opening the doors then setting off the EMP's stalling the doors." Chief thought it was too risky, but he didn't have much say in the matter.
"When you land at the control panel we need you to activate the Self-Destruct mechanism ASAP, after that the pelicans will get all troops to the warships and leave the area pronto."
"What about the covenant?" Chief still knew covenant float above the ring.
"They seem to let low for a while, don't worry we havent set them aside yet." Chief remembered those words as the pelicans engines set at a low hum while Chief and another 20 marines along with Brent and Foster ran to the redevous point, waiting there were another 5 marines and blocks of C4.
"The signal hasn't been given yet so don't start blowing anything up yet." The marines nodded. The pelicans were still setting troops up around the entrance.
"Around 100 troops possibly will lead the charge, I know its a oversized force but trust me when I say this, the flood will most likely double since we last saw them." Chief didn't know how to respond but just do his job and destroy the ring.
"Chief this is Hickson please respond."
"This is Master Chief, are you ready to roll?"
"We are all packed and ready, when you hear the first gun shoot I want to hear some explosion down there!"
"Of course, Chief out." Hickson put his radio away and looked at the shut door in front of him, he was estatic to finnaly take down the flood.
"Hit the switch and let's start killing." a nearby lieutenant hit the switch opening the door much like the first halo ring control center. when the door opened Hickson gasped at all the flood in front of them, Many normal combat forms and nearly 1/4 covenant forms.
"FIRE!" The front line let out an entire wall of AR bullets. pinging off nearby purple structures that the covenant use for cover. Most of the bullets knocked down flood forms and covenant infectious forms. The flood retaliated with an equal barrage of bullets hitting most of the front line. bullets pinged off of Hicksons armor, He wiped off sweat from his forehead and swore under his breath. Hickson remembered the somewhat single word commands, he hoped his men could remember what to do.
"FIRE!" another barrage of bullets came from the front line knocking down a huge amount of flood combat forms. tearing comabt forms limbs apart as more then 1000 rounds hit the flood hard. more marines didnt hear the command due to fighting and were soon slaughtered by bullets trying to listen taking thier attention away from the field.
"SNIPER FIRE!" 4 snipers above had there targets on multiple covenant infected forms, then took there aim and shot. 16 bullets came from above the front lines making a snapping sound as they passed Hicksons line of men. The flood retaliated with another barrage of bullets and more combat forms making there way toward Hicksons line.
"DOWN!" The front line knelled as another platton of marines behind him readied there shotguns and took aim killing nearly all the flood forms in front of Hicksons line. Again a slight few marines didnt hear the command and took thier eyes off the field wondering why the line kneeled. Few flood forms toke marines lives beheaded them and cutting them down.
"CHARGE!" Hickson ordered as the whole army of marines ran into battle firing off bullets and taking flood down. Hickson knew this wasnt going to be easy, little to his knowlegde a whole armada of flood waiting just around the corner from the whole army they were facing down. Marines ran into battle hitting flood forms with their guns and bare hands. many forms just rose back up and attacked with thier whips killing the marines. Hickson was sweating from the many marines blood being splattered all over the battlefield.

"Let it snow debry! Lets go thats the signal!" Two marines set off C4 ready to blow in 10 seconds and ran back to the Chief behind a rock.
"3, 2,-" The marine was cut off by the huge explosion.
"So I was off by a second gimme a break!" The marines continued the routine of C4 explosions.
"Son OF A BITCH!" Flood combat forms were piling out a door nearby the marines killing the two setting off C4.
"Take em down! we can't fail this dammit!" Chief ran toward the flood taking many down with a single shotgun buckshot.
"Keep going I'll keep em busy!" Chief was struggling when another 10 marines helped in the onslaught. Two more marines continued the explosions.

"This is pelican Bravo are you ready for the suprise Hickson?" Bravo and Charlie had a suprise for the flood army, Aplha pelican was carrying the EMP.
"Wait for it Bravo, bring the package in 5."
"Roger, Bravo and Charlie out!"

"Nail it!" Robninson was egear to take down some more covenant infected forms carrying plasma rifles. Jackson and Smith let out a whole clip entering more covenant infected forms. Smith and Jackson patted Robinson and Nickson on the shoulder signaling they were realoding. Robinson and Nickson looked into thier scopes ready to take more flood out. Smith heard something below them and he knew it wasn't human.
"SHIT, FLOOD!" Smith screamed as he saw 5 combat forms coverage on him and the snipers. Smith and Jackson pulled out their pistols and told Robinson and Nickson to keep shooting. Smith let out a whole clip on two combat forms knocking off thier limbs and ripping their body to nothing. Jackson followed and knocked down the last 3 forms. another 2 forms came from the corner and let out pistol shots catching Smith in the leg and killing Nickson hitting him at the thoroat.
"Dammit!" Robinson turned and pulled his pistol screaming as he took down the combat forms.
"Hickson this is the Delta sniper team, were having problems get Bravo and Charlie in there!" Jackson could hear the screams of marines in the backround fighting.
"Got it, Hickson out!" He screamed over the carnage just behind him.

"Bravo and Charlie get in there now!" Hickson yelled out not bothering to shut off his radio.
"Got it, Hit it!" Two Pelicans came from the air and roared thier engines coming to a stop in front of the snipers position. Aiming the bombay doors toward the now blood covered battlefield.
"GO GO GO open the doors!" The pelcians bombay door opened and 4 snipers let out a furious rampage of bullets. Soon charlie followed up with another 4 snipers letting out slipstreams of bullets.
"We got you Hickson!" Bravo cleared with Hickson.
"Got it Bravo, just in case make sure Chief is doing fine!" Bravo responded and let Charlie take over running to Chief postion.

"Pelican! Whats it doing here?" The two marines were staring at the pelcian who sooned opened up on the flood forms.
"Thank god!" Brent was happy to see some reinforcements after they lost about half of there platoon. Marines let out a cheer and ran into battle behind Chief.

"GO go go we got em!" Hickson saw the flood forces dwindling in front of him. More marines fell to the slaughter of flood as the flood retreated. Zander was near the rear of the Marines shooting only a few shots next to Zack.
"Well at lest we didnt die huh?"
"I just think that was to easy." Zander thought something of why the flood were giving in so easily. Just then Hickson killed the last flood form waiting for the doors to open.
"HELL YA!" Hickson screamed as the marines behind him let out a cheer. The door began to open and Hickson could only wish there was a god as he saw twice as many flood forms as before.
"DUCK!" Hickson screamed to his front line and bullets went flying over Hickson head. Hickson reloaded his AR and pulled out his shotgun that was strapped to his back. Hickson looked up shooting more combat forms in front of him and ran backwards while shooting. More marines were caught in by the bullets and lost thier lives.
"Dammit, This isnt going to be easy...." Hickson relized as he glanced back looking at the remains of his line and the second platoons fomation. around now 60 men were left facing up to 130 flood forms now armed with more guns.
"Get that EMP going Alpha, There sending mass rienforcements...." Hickson was calm in ordering the command as he stared into the mass of flood with the doors opened and starting to close.
"Got it hickons its off in 3."
"HIT EM HARD MARINES!" Hickson let out as the marines screamed running into battle. More slipsteam bullets let out as Smith and the rest of the snipers including Charlie pelican were fighting back.

"Yes were in!" The two marines were now entering the bottom of the darken control center.
"GO GO GO Inside!" Chief yelled finishing off the rest of the flood forms. Bravo pelcian was high above and the snipers were cheering. Sending the marines into a daze a plasma scoring came out of the sky exploding the pelican. Masses of debre went everywhere smashing marines and flood combat forms, Takeing down bridges to the advance force from Chiefs position, and causing the other pelcians to seek cover. A huge warship was now entering the battlefield, obviously the covenant weren't going out without a fight.
Now everything was going wrong that they could think of. Covenant were on thier way with mass forces, Flood are pushing back the advance force,1 pelican down and the others hiding from the warship, The Human warships were to busy in battle to send rienfocements, Chief and the rest are cornered by flood forms. All that they have left is hope.
