Read/Post Comments

Before I start the second chapter of my little story, I would like to thank all the people who posted their comments about my story. The good and the bad. Yes the last one was kind of short, and there were spelling errors, there also wasn't much action in it, but in my defense, I was in a rush to complete it. I believe this story will fix those problems. Enjoy!

"Attention all personel! You are to report to your stations imediantly! This is not a dril! Repeat, this is not a dril! There are currently two dozen, unknown ships, aproaching are location. They refuse to respond to hailing attempts. Therfore, the captain has ordered the ship be brought up to alert statis. Report to your stations imediantly and await further instructions. That is all."
As soon as the message ended, all the people in the mess hall scatered in a hurried frenzy to report in and find out what was going on. Trays full of food were dropped to the ground, their contents becomming a colorful mess on the the floor.
John W. Booth watched all of this transpire from his seat at the table. He watched calmly until the last person had exited the mess hall. He then calmly got up, took his tray over to the sinks, and quitly put it in. He then washed his hands under the sinks straem of water, and then walked out of the room.
John W. Booth was far to self controlled to exit like the rest of the crew. It wasn't his way. His way was a life of carefully controlled routines. He could never see himself acting so unorderly, so undisiplined, so unmilitary.
At age thirty two John was one of the most decorated pilots in the air force. He had fought in dozens of battles against the likes of rebal traiters, crimanals, tearorists, and many others. John was the epitamy of the word soldier. One could just look at him and exclaim, "That's a military man."
John had been in the army since the day he turned eighteen. He had lived a life rank, chain of command, and uniform all of his life. He couldn't think of one without those characteristics. He had never married or had children. He han't even been on a date since he left school. All those things would have meant a life outside the military.
He walked calmly down the hallways, towards the flight bay, where his men and squadren of Longswords were. Of all the ships he had flown, the Longsword was by far his favorite. It carried a larger payload of bombs than any other type of ship, and was fast and maneuverable, makeing it perfect for dog fighting in space and on planets.
As he walked out onto the bay of the flight deck, his men gave a salute and stood in line for his inspection. He looked all five of them up and down throughly. First there was Roman, callsign Geezer. To put it simply, Roman was a smart ass. Even in the most deadly of situations he would still crack a joke. But he would never cross Booth.
Next was Wilkes, callsign Curly, for his short curly red hair. Wilkes was very much like Boothe in his self control, but his life wasn't completly structured around the military. He was Booth's most depenable pilot.
Then there was Alex and Lisa, twin brother and sister, callsigns Big Bro and Big Sis. Being twins they were very much the same in every day life, but in the pilot's seat they were completly different. Alex was a showoff who would do any wild stunt or maneuver at the risk of his own life. Lisa was just the opposite. She always did things by the book.
Then there was the newest member of his team, Mullins, callsign Mouse, for his small sign. He was straight out of training and unproven in battle.
Booth looked around to make sure the Longswords were in propere order for imediat take off. They were. He stood silently waiting for the orders he knew would come.

Captain Naper looked out over the broad deep of space, almost expecting to see the unidentified ships. When he turned around he saw his now full bridge. Every moniter was ocupied as they monitered the approaching ships.
They had tried hailing the ships several times since the first, but had still received no response. Captain Naper now thought it was time to try a differant tactic. If they wouldn't respond to the transmissions, then he would send a sqaudron of Longswords to meet them and force an answer if necisary.
"Sander."
"Yes captain."
"Get me a link to the flight bay, I need to talk with Booth."
"Yes captain. Opening link."
"Booth, this is Captain Naper, I have an important asignment for you. Are you and your men ready?"
"Yes captain. Me and my men were ready ten minutes ago."
"Very good your asignment is to meet the oncoming ships and establish contact. The ship your going to contact appears to be some sort of scout ship, because it is much farther ahead of the mane fleet off by itself. This is not an attack mission just yet but be careful, they may be hostile. That is all."
Booth looked up at his ship and smiled, he always smiled before going on a mission. It was the only thing that made him happy anymore.

Tewnty minutes later Booth's sqaudren arived at the scout ships location. Even Booth was in awe of it. He had never seen a ship quite like it. He decided right then that this was no human ship.
"Captain," said Booth over the com link, "we have arrived at the scout ships courdinates. We will now attempt to establish contact."
"Attention unidentified vessle. Your convoy is currently inside human space and you presently headed toward colony world Harvest. Please respond."
After a few seconds when no response came he tried again, and still got no response. "Captain they are still not responding to our message. Please advise. Over"
Before any response could come from the ship, a loud peircing crackle of static burst out of the radio. Booth nearly toor his helmet off. Then all at once a strange voice came over the radio. "Your destruction is the will of the gods." It abrupty ended after that.
Before any one could even respond to the criptic message, a bright ball of blue light erupted from the ship headeing right at Booth's sqaud.
"Break Off! Break Off!" Boothe and his squad broke formayion at the last second and barely evoided the ball of light that passes through the area theie ships had once ocupied.
Boothe watched as the ball of light smashed into a small wandering asteroid. The asteroid was obliterated into dust upon impact. Booth looked back at the ship that had just fired on them and said over the com link, "Captain, We've got hostiles."
