The Prophet is the center of the room was tired of hearing stories. He wore a blue crown, which covered his neck and what looked like wings coming out of his back. His green eyes swiveled around and stopped on a golden Elite waiting to be heard. Finally he said something. "Speak !" The golden clad Elite waltzed in the room and stood in the center surrounded by other lower class Prophets. He began to speak.

"My Company launched an assault on a human warship today. I led my soldiers as usual, after several units of fighting we began to encounter armor-clad humans. " The Prophet raised his hand and the Elite stopped talking immediately. "Zaklee, tell me was this armor green"
"No your Excellency, The armor changed colors to blend with its surroundings."
"I see " said the Prophet "continue"
"Well they were extremely agile and strong and our soldiers were cut down quickly, they weren't as powerful as the green ones but together they wiped us out. Their reflexes were unlike regular humans and there were more than a hundred of them in the ship alone."
The Prophet didn't look surprised he'd heard the same thing all evening. "Zaklee are you implying this human technology is beyond that of the forerunners."
Zaklee stared down, "no your Excellency I am simply stating facts."
The Prophet seemed unpleased, "off the record Zaklee. What do you really think?"
Zaklee seemed inpatient; "sir it was more advanced"
"I see" said the Prophet "you can leave now." The Prophet addressed his comrades. "Brothers, it seems the simians have created a new armor, highly advanced and for their regular troops not just special soldiers. You must capture this armor so we may examine it. We must know what were up against, dismissed." One by one the Prophets slowly left the circular room.

1800 hours, December 1, 2554/UNSC cruiser Cortez on route to Mars.

The artificial sunlight shined on Blake's face like an alarm clock, and woke him instantly. He was still wearing his blood stained uniform. Marines around him were also waking up. Blake looked in his locker and inside was a new uniform, a fresh towel, and a toothbrush in its original packaging. He grabbed the towel and toothbrush as he proceed out the door toward the bathroom. Along the way there was a sea of marines headed the same direction. The bath area was huge but the crew was bigger and he still had to wait in the foul smelling line. Blake enjoyed the short but much needed bath. His wound still burned but it was small compared to what he'd seen. He headed through the crowded hallways back to room number six. He then but on his clean uniform and felt refreshed. "Come buddy it's time for chow," a marine said .He didn't know the marine but he talked with him along the way to the mess hall. He waited on another long line until he was able to get his breakfast. Scrambled eggs, ham, and bread good enough he though. The mess hall was enormous but it wasn't hard to spot Angels Blue-Green hair in a crowd. She ate fast, her hair dripping she didn't even bother to dry it
"Good morning Angel" Blake said.
"Ditto" she responded.
Blake began to eat; it was actually good, and warm for a change. Angel finished her meal and began to eat a chocolate bar. " Had a good night Blake?" She asked.
"Well you could call it that" Blake said as he ate a piece of ham.
They finished eating and reported to the auditorium. It was filled to capacity and the ruckus was unbearable. Finally Captain Wood walked to the stage and everyone listened.
"Good morning troops hope you all slept well last night because the convenant have attacked Mars. The UNSC thinks this is a preemptive attack to crush Mars and continue towards Earth. I can't tell you how important this Battle will be; you must give it your all, every single one of you. Now I will leave you with a speech Admiral Stanford made. Good luck."
The room again filled with noises, but this time they were cries for revenge. The flat screen TV was lowered and Admiral Stanford's face appeared.
"Soldiers of Earth, soon you will all take part in the most important battle in our history. A battle that will result in the defeat of the evil enemy who has brought chaos to hour homes. Even though we are from different nations, and of different races. We have fought, suffered, and died together. Fighting for what we believe in, fighting for freedom. Along with our allies and brothers in arms we will bring an end to the enemy war machine, and their oppression on our people. We shall gather for the final battle. And we will win this battle. We shall return peace to our people and our future."
The room erupted in applause, as the speech ended. A message was heard over the PA. "All pilots report to pilot briefing room ASAP." Blake and Angel got up and headed toward the elevator with the other pilots in the ship. If there was one thing Blake was good at was piloting a fighter, it was in his blood. His grandfather had been a pilot in the Jovian moon wars. And his father had piloted a fighter against the same enemy he fought now. Angel was also a fairly good pilot and since she could predict the enemy's move quite easily due to her 'talents', she was an invaluable asset to the crew.
The elevator came to a sudden halt and a green deck five sign flashed in the door. The pilots moved on toward the briefing room. As they reached it, they began to see how big the cruiser really was. There were three dozen men and women waiting to be briefed. That was a big number of fighters for a cruiser. The instructor and squadron leader Pierce Glanville waited patiently for them to take their seats. " Okay" he said " when you come face to face with those seraph bastards you will have an offensive advantage, your Longswords will be carrying the new mark V missiles. They deliver the same powerful plasma as your enemy does, and they are laser guided.
You're enemy simply blasts a burst of unguided plasma which am sure you're glad to know. However you still have no shields, and you're enemy does. Your enemy is also faster, but your can over look that because you're more maneuverable."

Blake had heard that explanation many times before. But it still comforted him.
" Okay" Pierce said "whom here has fought a convenant seraph?" Half the room raised their hands.
Blake and Angel were not part of that half.
"We don't know what kind of battle we'll find when we get there so be ready for anything"
"Dismissed"
The pilots then headed for the flight room. Angel and Blake put on their flight suits and began the arduous process of checking all the flight equipment including their Longsword fighters. If anything went wrong they could die all alone in space. After checking the equipment the pilots were to wait until they were needed. This was the worst part, the wait.

The Cortez along with the two frigates emerged slowly from slipspace, only to encounter lots of debris and a convenant cruiser. Captain Wood knew the debris would hide them from the radar for some time, but he had to act fast and seize the initiative. He ordered the MAC guns charged and missile pods loaded with archer plasma missiles. He sat in the 'hot seat' waiting for his chance to strike. Like a lion waiting in the meadows to kill his prey. Then he saw his chance. The convenant cruiser launched two ships, scouts he thought. The shields lowered to allow the ships to slip through.
"Weapons officer, fire MAC rounds now and follow it up with plasma missiles!" He yelled
Weapons officer Linda Warrington worked the controls and the MAC guns rumbled. The convenant cruiser took the full blow, the shields came up too late and several missiles got trough as well. The frigates Talleyrand and Dartanian also fired her missiles. The shield however still held and the ship fought back with a barrage of plasma torpedoes. The Cortez had already retreated behind the debris and a piece of an old UNSC carrier took the blow.
" Are MAC guns charged yet!?" Wood asked.
" Few seconds" said Linda.
Exactly ten seconds later, the Cortez MAC guns fired again. The sizzled shield died after the first shot and the ship then exploded in its own plasma. The white-blue explosion incinerated the debris around the convenant ship. " All right " Wood said "navigations, were the hell are we and were is the main battle going on?"
A young navigations officer worked together with the ships AI and a map of the battle popped up in three dimensions. Wood scanned the map.
"Ok Rick take us to the nearest engagement zone"
The Cortez glided towards the main battle site afterburners rumbling. Its real battle would was about to begin.

Here ends Angel's war IV stage.
