Sorry for any spelling or grammer problems they're not my strong point:)
The Traitor by Gabriel Maddox
Elites, they are one of the more respected of the different covenant species. Tall, strong, and extremely smart, they are as deadly as a Spartan, but much more numerous. They were among the first species the covenant assimilated. It was a long and bloody battle, but the Elites eventually lost and became part of the covenant. Though many of them praise the profits as gods there are some who despise the profits along with the covenant. These Elites are part of a rebellion, most of which have been crushed, but there are still some left, but not enough to make a difference. Aka'jurdo doesn't like what the covenant do, destroying whole worlds and civilizations just for the gods. Aka is a respected elite wearing gleaming golden armor. In his species his power and skill as a warrior is second only to the black special opts Elites. He sits in is compartment staring out into the endless void of space remembering his fathers dying words. "My son ……the covenant are not as they seem……do not fall under their spell……for me, no, for our bloodline…… do not forget your morality:……Mercy……Compassion ……Ho…n…o…r." Those were his last words, Aka caught himself crying. He honored his fathers last words when he could, that is why he isn't in the special opts. Aka decided to get a bite to eat, so he left his compartment and navigated the large passages passing fellow covenant, acknowledging them with a simple wave of the hand or nod of the head, until he came to the mess hall. There he met a pack of grunts under his command that snapped to command and in unison said "sir" in squeaky little voices. "At ease" said Aka in a deep raspy voice. The grunts replied with a simple "sir" and went back to what they were doing. Aka went to one of the many food nipples and got something to eat, sat down at the nearest table and looked at the foul smelling green, mush they called food. He looked at the mush with a grimace, it reminded him of waste from the core, but compared to the other slop they serve it was a delicacy. Just as he finished orders came in over the intercom. "Units 1 through 5 prepare for ground assault in 20 cycles" "Great" Aka sarcastically muttered under his breath as he went back to his compartment to get his weapons. He got his plasma sword, pistil, rifle, and grenades and made his way to the dropship assigned to his team. He found a seat next to a black opts grunt named Quee, who is as brave as any elite and as strong as a jackal. Quee was cleaning his plasma pistol and muttering something about exterminating the human filth down on the planet. Aka's unit consisted of 2 bonded Hunters, 2 other Elites, 4 Jackals, 5 Grunts everyone in his unit were the ones originally in his first team because none of them have died, which is rare. They were alive because, unlike other leaders who send them in on kazikamie attacks, Aka has his team take cover and attack only when its safe. He was proud of is unit, and of himself for keeping them alive. There was a jolt as the dropship accelerated out of the shuttle bay and toward the planet. Aka noticed that they were approaching the planet, so he activated the intercom. "Is everyone ready" "Yes sir" 13 voices said in unison as the dropship entered the planet's atmosphere. There was a hissing sound as they landed and the doors to the compartment opened. His unit got off and watched the dropship as it sped away to the rendezvous point. His units orders were to exterminate all of the human filth and return to the ship before it was "glassed" as humans put it. Aka never understud why the covenant didn't kill all the humans on the planet and then terraform the planet for habitaion to increase their numbers. He pushed it to the back of his mind for now and went on with his mission. "Get into formation" Aka yelled over the gunfire coming from somewhere in the city. They got into formation covering each other's backs and blind spots. This formation was one reason all of his teammates have survived so long. They moved through the city killing humans as they went the hunters Kore, and Naika decimating the filth with their fuel rod guns. Aka saw something out of the corner of his eye and broke formation to investigate. He found a small human child alone and scared. Just then a black opts elite showed up. "You want this kill or should I take it?" said the black elite. Aka looked at the human child he couldn't be more than 4 human years old and posed no threat to them. He also looked at the elite wearing pitch-black armor and it's eyes were as cold and dark as space itself full of evil and hate. "I guess its mine then," said the evil one as he raised his plasma rifle. Just then Aka remembered his father's words. "Have mercy, compassion, and honor". There was no honor in killing this child, nor is there honor in letting this child be killed. Without thinking Aka grabbed his plasma sword and in an instant there was a horrid scream as the evil one grasped it's arm. The charred flesh smoking from the heat of the plasma sword as it's hand along with the plasma rifle fell to the ground with a loud thud. The evil one was only able to utter one word "traitor" before Aka gave a finishing blow ending the creatures life in mere seconds. Aka noticed the rest of his unit staring at him, the evil ones lifeless body at his feet. "I'm a traitor now," said Aka "so you can either fight me and most likely die, or you can leave and keep your life, unlike this fool." Aka looked at the evil ones body with disgust and hate. Quee stepped forward and spoke in his squeaky little voice. "Or we can stick with our commanding officer, even if it means becoming traitors our selves." At that Quee walked over to Aka and stood by his side and said "Sir, I for one, will stand by your side until my death no matter what, how about the rest of you?" The rest of the grunts squeaked around in there own language for a while then joined Quee by Aka's side. Kore and Naika joined Aka and the grunts with a simple low grunt and nod of the head. The jackals joined Aka with a quick "sir" and the Elites joined him and said "were with you till the end sir." Just then a cold low voice came from the shadows "Stop traitors or you will die." "What?" said Aka in complete surprise. "We're surrounded, quickly - protect the boy!". The group of traitors encircled the boy, ready to fight to the death for their leader.
