The year is 2763. The human race has long since been assimilated into the Covenant. After dozens of failed rebellions, many humans have finally given up hope that they will ever be free. So, with their newfound acceptance of their lot in the universe, they begin to dominate the economic areas of the Regal Empire, as the Covenant call themselves. Human scientist achieve huge breakthroughs in weapons technology. However, much of it is sabotaged, and the best of it is kept deep within the databases of the scientists' minds, trusted to no electronic device. The greatest of these achievements is the positron. The positron is a sub-nucleic particle that reacts violently when introduced to the element natural arsenic, which is impossible to produce artificially, and only found in high enough quantities the planet Earth, in the rural areas which were for the most part untouched by the Covenant invasion, as after the major cities of Earth fell in rapid succession, humanity tried a bid for peace, and to their absolute surprise, it was accepted, and the human race was allowed to survive. The positron is the secret weapon, which is being harnessed for use in personal handheld weapons, such as pulse rifles for infantry and heavy cannons are being fitted to the hundreds of floating hulks left over from the wars and rebellions of the last two centuries, some so old that they date back to the War for Humanity, to the recent sabotage victims of the human weapons designers. These were being refitted and crewed, and the crews of the ships were being trained and briefed on the upcoming massive human uprising. The power of the positron is activated by bombarding the arsenic in the power cores with positron particles. This causes a reaction on the order of 100 megatons, which is directed down the barrel and travels as a beam of red light, not unlike a pulse laser, until it impacts it's target. Then the nuclear energy implodes instead of exploding, that way in can be used at short range and all the extra energy is not scattered but focused on one point. The old MJOLNIR suits are being reactivated for the legions of disgruntled humans. These suits are still top of the line in weapons technology, as the Imperial scientists and engineers have reached the top of the line that they possibly could have with the technology that they stole from the Temples of the Ancients. They have not developed any new technology themselves, leading many to believe that they don't even fully understand their own weapons, knowing very little about new weapons development.
Meanwhile, the human resistance has approached millions of human merchants and scientists in high places and began concocting a plan to cripple the Regal Empire's economy, and as many ships as possible. The scientists and engineers would release some of the technology that they had been hiding in order to completely cripple the Imperial Fleet. First of all, they would unveil radical changes in ship design with massively upgraded shield and reactor technology that will totally render all previous ship designs obsolete. This will cause them to scrap all of the old ships, which the Resistance Alliance will then refit and crew these ships. They will install several packages of explosive materials into the reactor cores of the engines, to be remotely detonated, causing cataclysmic detonations in the interior of these ships, leaving the Covenant with relatively no ships. At the same time, merchants and traders will provide access to all economic databases that they have access to, and give it to hackers working for the Alliance. At about the same time as the Covenant Imperial Fleet simultaneously detonates, the majority of the currency in the Covenant economic system will simply disappear. However, even after these terrible blows to the Imperial Military and economy, they are still extremely formidable. The bulk of the fleet is still off on long range patrols and assignments. However, the Covenant still has enemies who will hopefully take this time to launch their own offensives, and if the plan goes accordingly, the Regal Empire of the Covenant should crumble under this massive pressure.
However, in this plan the humans did not account for several important and deciding factors. First of all are human nature and human error. Humans are greedy, pessimistic and sometimes sadistic beings, motivated by their own ambition and stature in life, not always thinking and acting for the good of the group, or in this case, the species. Second , they failed to realize the fanatasism of the Covenant. Most of the veterans of the War for Humanity were either killed in the numerous failed rebellions and insurgencies, or they had died of the multiple hardships of the uprooting process, when they were taken away from their home planet, and forced to live on the least hospitable of the Covenant sysems imaginable. So now, as the human race begins it's greatest hope to throw off the chains of their slavery to the Covenant, they had none of the veteran voices of reason to guide them, and their freedom as a species at risk, so begins their war for survival...
