I looked down from the back of our pelican but to see explosions of plasma. "We got word from Alpha Squad. There pinned down 3 miles from our current position. They're requesting backup. It's your call sarge." He looked as though he wanted to, but that second, "Sarge, we've lost contact with Alpha Squad." He tells the pilot to continue to the command post. "Roger, we'll arrive in 180 seconds." I started to load my battle rifle. I looked around in the pelican. All of the other ODST's looked determined, as well as afraid. This is my third time out on the lines, battling on earth against the covenant scum. The battle was a loosing one, considering the Master Chief is still on the Mac Gun. I looked down as we arrived at the LZ. Sarge yelled, "Pile out!"

Our squad rushed to the Lieutenant. We found him in the command building, with fierce battle not too far away from our current position. " Your mission, Delta Squad, is to break through the front lines and clear a LZ near the covenant capitol ship." As he talked on about our mission, I heard wisps of flying plasma shooting through the air not far behind. I knew it would be a challenge, even if I am an ODST. We would face peril, every single corner, a Jackal to shoot, and every turn, an Elite to destroy. But we'll make it through. "But I've heard there are brutes heading into the front lines, but no Elites sighted by the front lines." As he finished, we heard a huge explosion at a nearby building, and covenant troops rushed out.

A plasma bolt flew right next to my head. I ran for cover behind a wall hanging out for a perfect shoot and cover. As I got ready to look out and fire a shot, a plasma grenade lands less than 7 feet away. With four seconds spare, I dived out of the way leaving me an easy target. But as I lay and watch the explosion, I hear our bullets firing but not theirs. I got lucky. But my squad mates will not always be able to save me.

That loss of troops in their side gave me enough time to head to cover in a pile of rubble good enough to serve as a bunker. Inside, I found 2 of my squad mates already taking cover behind it. "Frag out!" I yelled. I threw a frag grenade and took out 3 Grunts and a Jackal. We than came out with the cover of smoke and fired out into the midst. We also took fire from the survivors. The guy to my right was hit, sending him back. I looked but to see his burnt up face. I than looked back to see a brute standing there. All of us fired at it and took it down easy, but lucky that he was alone.

We grouped up in arrowhead position and moved through the war-torn streets with demolitions covering the back. I looked up and saw huge explosions. Up ahead, our marksman detected 3 Brutes, one unarmed. With that info, we proceed with demolitions in front along with three men armed with battle rifles. The brutes spotted us and open fired at us. The commander yelled, "Head for cover!" I ran for a corner. I also at that time got cut off from the team. I looked out and shot a brute in the head. With the blood flying out, it fell to the ground. Then a Brute came charging at me. But out of nowhere, a sniper bullet gets a direct hit in the head, sending it sliding on the ground. It was Scott, the marksman. Then the demolitions fired a rocket and blew up a nearby fuel barrel, sending the remanding brute flying. The squad then moved on to the next objective point.

We came to a door. We carried out a door breach. I was to kick the door open, immediately move out of the way for someone to throw a grenade. I kicked the door open and the demolitions threw a grenade. As the grenade blew, we heard nothing but it. So we had a man move forward through. He was immediately taken from the side and chucked away to the other side. Two Elites emerged and then started firing with carbines. We all headed for cover. The demolitions chucked two frags and took out one Elite. The other I shot and lowered its shield. Then a troop with dual SMGS tore into the Elite and took it out.

We moved in and got to the LZ. When we got there, the pelican came and on board, was the Master Chief. I then led him to the battle zone, but I was called back to the pelican and left. The mission was complete.
