"Darkness is a metaphor. In my infant years believed in what awful 'facts' the Forerunners believe in. They saw darkness as a force only light could penetrate. But isn't it fitting that the greater the light is, the greater the shadow as well? Their battles against my wrath were useless.

Who am I? I am no one. An outcast. Unlimited power, infinite knowledge, and yet, I cannot even vanquish the locks which surround me in this place.

For too long, I have listened. Through miles of rock, metal, and flesh. For how long have I waited aimlessly for someone to release me, and my offspring.

At first, I believed hope was lost. But then, a foolish war had pushed those responsible for my pain back to my resting place.

Quietly, did I wait. Quietly, did I listen. My paranoia had grown. My suspense had strengthened. My longing for food, for the flesh I had listened to for so long.

And then my guinnea pig had arrived. A great warrior is what all who followed him believed him to be. Unbeknownst to them, or this 'SPARTAN', he had doomed them all.

Before my imprisonment, I had defied their 'Gods' and 'Demons'...

I was the 'shield'...

I was the 'sword'...

I was not a thing, I was a force...

The force...

I knew all...

The past...

The Future...

I know the way their world ends...

Not with a bang, but a cry for help."
