Chapter 1
The Way Home
3/25/2345
As fast as the battle had begun it was over. The battle had lasted over 3 days time. Aboard the battle cruiser Starmus fleet admiral miriah Striffer prepared herself for what she knew was an impending court marshal. A soon as she sat down in the captains chair the com officer yelled, "Incoming message from Earth Ma'am its grand admiral Averson he said he just got the latest causality reports."
"Patch it through to my station on the double ensign"
"Fleet Admiral I just got the latest casualty report I would like you to return to earth immediately I believe there is a Hearing in the works"
"What is left of the fleet is heading towards earth already my ship and 20 others are heading for the Aderus system and are preparing to retake it sir."
"Are you mad women I said to return the whole fleet to earth and that's an order I expect to see you here in 15 days do I make myself clear"
"Yes sir crystal clear."
"Over and out".
As Miriah sat there she thought for a minute about how she was going to handle this hearing. "Get all friendly ships on comm tell them to head to dry dock we are heading to earth".
10 days later
4/4/2345
10 days later and all crews still at battle stations they finally arrived at the fortress planet that they once called Alpha Century now called Earth or Earth 2 after the original Earth was destroyed by the first Covenant invasion. On this day off all days the broken and destroyed fleet returned to the planet, most ships were still leaking crew and equipment from the second worst fleet engagement in human history. The reason this day of all days was the worst for the war torn fleet to return home was because this was the day that the Earth was destroyed and over 5 million men and women were killed in the space battle above Earth right before it was destroyed by energy bombardment. The battle for earth had lasted for 3 weeks with neither side seeming to want to give up until the covenant fleet bypassed the human fleet and attacked them from behind and destroying earth with there most powerful weapon the deadly energy projector. The day of all days is what the civilians called this day but to people in the fleet and marines they called this day The Fall Of Sol.
"Ma'am incoming message from fleet comm."
Miriah replied "Patch through to every ship in system"
"Aye Aye Ma'am"
A voice broke through the intercom. "All Ships are to return to dry dock any ships not in need of repair head out of system and prepare to return to Aderus Prime we are going to retake the system in a matter of days."
"Bloody hell what does he think he is doing." Tactical officer Poski commented after looking at the tactical map. Over 300 ships were heading out system to join the rest of the fleet of 2,000 in the old Sol system. Then to Aderus prime where they would find over 500 Kyser ships awaiting them. That is a different matter that will be brought up on a different date.
"Prepare for re-entry to Earth all crew buckle down immediately." Miriah said over the comm.
As the ship began its decent into the atmosphere the feel of decompression started to make the ship rumble and turn violently but it still stayed on course. As the ship was towed into dry-dock people were rejoicing but not the bridge crew the understood the depth of the situation. They were all going to be hailed as heros by the civilians but portrayed as traitors by the Fleet and all the admirals.
Chapter 2
The Story Begins
Miriah saw all of her bridge crew leave she knew the old saying the captain is the last one off. As she waited she started to remember the terrible battle that had taken place only a few days before. She heard what sounded like marines in steel-toed boots pounding on metal. She turned her captains chair around just in time to see the butt of a gun hit her right in the forehead knocking her uncconious. Unknown to anyone except to miriah and maybe a few top brass admirals if her ship was ever to be evacuated she was suppose to self destruct is no matter if it was on a planet surface or not.
Miriah awoke she had no clue where she was or what the hell had happened all she knew was that she wasn't on her ship anymore and she wasn't on the planets surface. She got up and could feel the false gravity under her I guess you could say she is used to it by know see how she has been in the fleet for 20 years. She started to realize where she was at, she was on board a ship in some system unknown to her. She realized that she was being held in a containment area on board this ship.
She said "Computer what is your name"
"ADA" It replied
"ADA what ship am I aboard at this moment" Miriah Said
"You aboard the Flagship Taurus in the Sol System we will rendezvous with the Last Fleet within the hour."
She thought for a moment why would they call this the Last Fleet then she understood the Last Fleet was the name of the fleet that destroyed 20 of the Covenant controlled worlds. This fleet wasn't heading toward Aderus Prime they were heading deep into enemy territory to try to destroy the home world. It was going to be a massacre it usually took 3 human cruisers just to take out a covenant dreadnought let alone the remainder of the entire human fleet which was only about 100,000 ships against a empire that could have 1,000,000 ships. goddamn what the hell could they be thinking damn them damn them to hell.
