COMBAT LOG 10:
Thirty Seven Spartans, divided into uneven squads of seven to five gathered at point Neven at the Eastside of New Dawn city. Master Chief looked proudly at these new soldiers and warriors of his. Trained at the Military planet of ARCNUM, these new Spartans were the best trained soldiers in all fields of warfar. For twenty years they were trained by Chief Mendez and then transfered under the command of Chief Copeland. Ten more years after that their training specialized in anti Covenant tactics and warfare. Then they were introduced to their MJONIR Mark Seven armors. For weeks they have trained constantly with Master Chief in warfare strategy and many forms of combat. Master Chief saw promising and extremely potential leaders of these new spartans and was proud to command them after ninety nine days of constant training. He taught them the forms of shooting, HALO jumps, unarmed combat, survival and resistance tactics and tactical manevuers. He had to admit that these new Spartans were rather deadlier than the Spartans he trained with as a child.
Master Chief broke off this train of thought as another Phantom glided ten meters off their two o clock. He looked at his XO, Jordan , warningly. Jordan was the most promising leader of the new spartans. Smart, Brave and very intelligent in warfare strategy, he represented Chief in many ways including courageousnes. Jordan quietly motioned for silence among the Spartans. Gibbs, a squad leader of team Sage, went over the objectives with the whole platoon of elite Spartans. "First mission: Team Gray and Team Gold will set up and designate air strike targets for our Longsword and Pelican fighters. Main objective of these two teams is to wipe out mechanized and mobile tanks and calvary units. Second Mission: Team Black and White will soften up defense checkpoints around the Covenant base in the heart of New Dawn. Main objective is to wipe out anti air units. You guys will then clear a path for the Scorpion Main tanks to move in. Finally Team Sage and Wise will provide sniper and house clearing tactics in civilian houses and buildings. Be advised Team Sage and Wise, your main purpose is to clear Covies from dangerous positions on rooftops and buildings.
When Jordan relayed these orders in the advanced comm channels in the MJONIR helmet, Anara came online. Anara was simply one of the best AIs the whole UNSC created. Cloned from a deceased female captain, she was extremly smart and could feel and show human emotions, much like Cortana. She was briliantly white and pale with pure white algorithms and billions of codes spiraling in her. Encoded and designed by the most proficient engineers and ONI technicians, she was a deadly AI.
"Chief and Jordan, note the recon plane I set sixty klicks above your position. It will provide secure photos and graphs on realtime of what is happening. I have also set nore drones around tactical postions under Covie radar. I will also provide interceptions of all messages traveling in and out of the city. In case you boys need backup I can relay artillery stikes from the Vlitz cannons some ODSTs were kind enough to set up. I also arranged two Peilican dropships to extract or bomb whatever needs extra shredding. Be aware however that they are loaded with ASO missles and gunners in case you require them. We cannot manage air superiority for long however and Slipspace probes from the Archangel show that there are multiple flagships and carriers coming in from the Covies."
"Acknowleged and thanks Anara," replied Chief.
As one , thirty seven Spartans got up, split into prearranged squads and moved out. Chief was with Team Gold as they set out. The force backing them up was NIMITZ Company from the 92nd ODST Division which was combating in other cities. "Chief, this is Jar 0, our Scorpions are getting mighty pissed off with no Covies to rip up." "Acknowledged Commander Rick" replief Jordan.
Operation Dark Dawn commenced.
Chief watched as his Spartans all moved as one in different directions. Their teams moved in a carefully rehearsed manevuer so that in the case of ambush everyone knew what to kill and where to move or break off. Master Chief sighed proudly and took point for Team Gold. They quickly set of into the Nine East Checkpoint on the Northeast side of New Dawn. His team carried battle rifles, Jackhammer launchers, MA5B Assault Rifles, Frags, pistols, specialized D99 charge mines and the team snipers carried their customized SA078 rifles. Chief himself had a Shotgun with sixty shells and a SAO78 rifle. This was his creed for city combat. Either Close range or Long range, none other is acceptable in Dodge City. In case it did come to medium range, the covie would face the wraith of his Spartans. He quickly moved into the side of the buildings. "Teams, report." "Team Black and White are about to engage. " "Team Gray about to engage." "Team Wise and Sage have engaged." Damn though Chief. They were quick and deadlier than he expected. He would have to pick up the pace.
To the East and West, shots and plasma shots rang out. " Team White and Black, you have contacts all over the block, I am pinpointing Vlitz artillery strikes over it!" reported Anara who was watching the whole city with her drones. She was operating from a Hyper Satellite system which allowed her to work her magic from computer channels at Nine Thousand feet.
Master Chief felt and hear shudders as 110 rounds tore into the city from his three o clock.
" Team Gold, move in!" In a graceful maneuver all seven of his Spartans skipped into the streets of New Dawn. As they came around the first corner, nine grunts were running toward the source of fire from the Vlitz rounds. Master Chief signaled his team to open fire. With unsurpassed markmanship, MA5B and Battle Rifle 7.77 rounds tore into the heads of all nine grunts, leaving them dead. Chief signaled for his team to go forward. Suddenly a Phantom flashed overhead and turned around. "COVER" shouted Chief as he dove into the nearest apartment door. He crouched down as Plasma bolts tore up the bricks. Then a ASO missle smashed into the Phantom and it disapeared into chuncks of metal. The Pelican roared over head and Chief signalled a move out. Team Gold moved on.
As they progressed further, the other teams were eliminating enemies quickly. Chief heard assault and Jackhammer rounds hit their targets. "Anara requesting Pelican support over this checkpoint over" said Jordan over the COM channel. "Already on it" replied Anara.
Over the shots, Chief heard Pelican gunners on their heavy machine guns tearing up Covies ten blocks to the East.
Master Chief finally reached their first objective. Nine banshees, six wraiths and five ghosts were traveling in column down a giant avenue. Master Chief pulled up a designator within his HUD and a blue thine beam seemingly out in front of his eye quickly painted the targets. "Chief I have recieved target, Firesky 2 and Firesky 3 requesting air strike at coordinates 303EE to 94N93." relayed Anara over her established super encrypted COM channel. "Venus, we have recieved coordinates and coming in with bombing run." "Fireskys hold off" said Anara suddenly. "Anara, this is Team White and Black we have already diabled six anti air emplacements with explosives, you are good to go!"
Chief smiled at the proficiency of Team Which and Black. "Fireskys, GO GO GO!"
Moments later two Longsword heavy bombers dropped six hundred pounds of cluster UZ89 bombs. Master Chief watched as the whole calvary of Covenant armor was destroyed.
"This is team Gray, we have taken out an entire platoon of Ghosts, Spectres and Wraiths, requesting Pelicant bombing to finish the rest."
"Acknowledged" relayed Anara.
"Teams report in" said Master Chief over the COM.
"Team Sage and Wise are fine. We've cleared nine streets already. The houses did not have alot of covies, but we have killed twenty Jackal snipers on the roof. We are currently traveling from rooftop to rooftop and engaging enemies both on street and roof from the rooftops."
"Team Black and White have killed five anti air crews manning the cannons. Our satchel charges have destroyed all five. We also encountered empty banshees which we have booby trapped with plasma grenades. Team Black has wiped out a Covenant Gold Elite that was commanding a whole company of Covenant. We are currently finishing off the rest of that Covenant company."
"This is Team Gray. We have encountered heavy resistance in the Zenkan Market area. We have recieved Pelican suppory. Moving to Point FINISH.
Point FINISH was the name of the six different points of reponsibilty for the Teams.
" This is Team Black and White. Commander Rick, you are good to go. Your scorpions are good to go, Anara please designate Nav points for the Scopions. Waypath is clear and secure, we're waiting on you Commander."
Master Chief smiled secretly under his helmet with pride.
