The Chronhicles of the Covenant:The Grunt R ebellion Pt.1
Date: 3 December 2004, 6:51 AM

Zamzam was sitting calmly in his corner of space, and all he knew was;find this or that for the God's blessing. And,he really didn't care. His shifts were in wee units, the only threat were those filthy Heretic's.He yawned,it was time to get up.He pushed himself onto his feet and he promptly stomped his hoof down.Three startled Grunts stood at attention, and two also ran into eachother."Stop your clattering or our excellencies will be disturbed!"He hissed in a hushed voice."Yeah,we understand, but boss you are never one to care for the excellent ones."Said Joamjoa"Yes you are right, but I for one want to keep this head on this body."Zamzam replied"Right Zamzam, your right." Gregaw said"Ok send in the birds .Our shift is over.Out."A blue Elite came out and said "Yes,I shall get them." "Ahh,yes,'Jorjamee."Even though the Grunts were considered dimunitive they still had the right to command young rookies to some degree. They were the white clad Grunts in fact. Those were the ones who comitted to the greatest act of daring, bravery and skill to upkeep the sacred Covenant.Soon a six man team came from an opened hiss.Great.The Jackals.Either race had a clear disdain for one-another,and they were starting to reach the point of war."Ahh,Gassers boys.Ohhh be scared of the little people!"said Thak a Jackal. "Shut up turkey bird!"said Kneekna,Zamzam's fourth Grunt. Then silence ensued. They went into their small quarters where he could find some rest without nerve.

The Holy City,Elites resting estate

'Kolnasee sat in his chair with a small grouping of Elites. They were the Councilers. They were the political nerve of the Sanghelei speicies."These Covenant, the Jackals seem to not be on the best of terms with our Grunts, and although they should'nt matter to the Hierarchs this bickering could turn to be war within ourselves so this should be adressed to the Hierarchs in a calm fashion of which-"Sorachee was interuppted by the Council leader,
"No, this cannot be too harmful. The Council has heard this all before, why should we worry?"Said 'Kolnasee who really didn't care about the other counciler's opinions. He edited all the reports, and he chose what was written in final form for the Hierarch's ears. Not them.Soon he hoped, that he could crush the Hierarchs and become uncontested ruler of the Covenant. His wits would carry him far.But his hubris always brought him lower back to this position. As he traveled back to his room two red Elites escorted him. They were his protectors. He motioned them to their quarters. He sat near a golden Elite."Schlokamee, tell your Grunts to rid the parasite of the Heretic base,it will be ours."The golden Elite replied."Not to question your orders,Master but the Grunts have no expierence with those aboinations, and furthermore-"The gold Elite was interrupted by the Council leader."Then they will learn.Brief them, tell them to be ready to fight, and die with honor.Gods luck."The gold Elite patted his chest and kneeled."Yes,Master."

Seraph fighter dropping down to Heretic Base ops

Schlokamee paced the Seraph fighter.Never had he been nervous. The Parasite.Last time he saw the death toll for his Elites against the Parasite,he wanted to weep. Those were his bretheren.Gone.He feared for his life too,but he would have sacrificed himself to those monsters just to see his brothers left in peace. He looked down at the Grunts. They didn't seem to care, but they would. They would. The dusty world seemed barren no vessels no life just murky, musky greenish air. They all unboarded on to the world.Nothing.His nerves were building against him.Chatter filled his mind,he wanted to scream.Nothing.There it was again tearing at him.Nothing.Memories flashed by his seared mind.Nothing.Finally he jumped into his mind again.Maybe it was the remade air.Made so for the parasites transition into a world. As they snuck deeper into the base, plasma weapons and unholy shrieks cut through the air like a dagger through flesh.Zamzam held his duel needlers up in the air, eyes darting in every diretion."What did you say these Flood were again excellency?"Zamzam said nervously."Well, the Flood are-Right here!"he fire his carbine, crushed one with with his foot when slammed into his back.He didn't scream, but he did grunt a heavy exhale before thumping to the ground in a heap."Die,die, die!" yelled Joamjoabefore be taken over by two dozen of the creatures, but Zamzam,Gregaw, and Jorjamee ran back to the elavator.Jorjamee stood away from it."Elite, what are you doing?!"Yelled Gregaw."Dying with my bretheren." The Elite replied."Okay,Elite, just don't come banging at my door when your a mutant freak."The grunts ran back onto the barren world, only to run into new faces."What are, those?"Gregaw asked.Zamzam had no time to reply as the Gregaw was burnt down the middle,he hardly squealed before Zamzam ran into the other squad or what was left of second squad. They were obviously in the same trouble as his team, robots and mutants.

Zamzam was hiding behind a strangely turtle-shell shaped structure that had very ornate designs and colors.First it beated red then orange, but that wasn't what the grunt was worrying about. The Flood were. He saw the second squad preparing to leave in the seraph fighter when a banshee sped from a nearby canyon. There was no way to warn them by the time he screamed, and the banshee rammed it in the rear. By the time he tried signal them to get out of the seraph , the banshee had wedged itself in the storage area of the dropship. The seraph and the rouge banshee had crashed inside of the canyon. He looked down at the dusty ground and then at the sickly green sky. He shivered. The temperature was getting lower, and day was turning into night he entered the shell shaped building. He saw a molted corpse with a survival pack. "Well, you aren't using this anymore." He said nervously as he hefted the baggage. He placed into a corner. As he prepared his camp, he heard a liquid noise, it was slow and deliberate. As he scanned the room he saw the elevator to his nightmares, the corpse he had just raided, the closed entrance to the outdoor area and a pile of plasma weapons. He waddled over to the cache and put them into the camping pack, which he had slung over his shoulder, and then he waddled back.

'Kolnalee stood in rustic quarters and relaxed his fountain traveled from the floor and hovered to the upper floors. His favorite part was the hairpin midway which throbbed eeriley. As he walked through his cobblestone walkway the two crimson escorts followed. The one on his right 'Lozachee whispered into his ear. "Master, Shclokamee has failed to bring the Heretics to justice-"'Kolnalee answered before his guard could finish."Then bring him here, and his punishment will be served." The crimson Elite replied swiftly."Master, the Elite was tainted with the parasite, and he has disappeared as with his grunts on that infected planet."This time the Counciler thought before answering as they turned from their current path and near his court. "Well, send your best special operatives in, they will quell the infestation and the heresy. God's luck."The Elite replied,"Thank you, my lord" and that was it. As 'Kolnalee past through his doorway it had appeared that someone else was sitting at his seat, the Prophet of Truth.

Location:??? Time???

Somthing was wrong. Where was he? His was black and all he heard was a faint buzz. "Hello?" His mind echoed. He was moving, he could feel it, but he wasn't in control. "Where?" A presence asked. He didn't know what the thing wanted but, his instincts said 'Hide yourself'. So he went to the deepest part of his mind. His name was 'Schlokamee and was a warrior. This wasn't going to defeat him no, it wasn't.

Heretic Base, Seventh Age of Reclamation, 500 units

Zamzam had spent units of time just to have his MRE cooked carefully by his plasma pistol's heat.Too bad he didn't realize that throbbing lights that ornamented the walls were heaters too. He had another twenty four units left in his tank, which he would use up while searching the barren canyon for that seraph dropship. The liquid noise had slowed, but hadn't stopped which was starting to get into the grunt's head. The next few minutes were silent except for the sound of a seraph! He waddled up to the entrance when the corpse he looted stumbled to it's feet. The Grunt turned around fed rounds of needles into the creature's chest as it jumped in midair ,and it exploded just a meter above the Grunt. "Shit!" He yelled as he opended the door. The seraph dropped out two dozen troops, mostly Elites and Jackals then six Grunts poured out.Kneekna was one of them. "What went on here?" He asked. "You wouldn't want to know." Zamzam replied barley smirking behind his mask.

The dark purple hugh of the room did little to take the edge out of everyone there."You, 'Kolnalee, hath failed to adress the issue to us that the grunts and jackals are at the stage of street fighting throughout our cherished city. Why?" The Prophet of Truth asked the Councils' head as he glanced at every other Elite in the circular room. "Oh great and Noble Prophet, I have been attempting to quell a heresy and the parasite I was never informed about the bickering between the two races, and-" The Prophet interuppted."Lying now are you? To the Prophets?! I have quite the punishmenmt for you, first you will become our sacred Arbiter, and you will handle the Flood, the Heretics and the Grunt rebellion.

The drably lighten corridors were perfect for the occasion, the punishment for the new Arbiter was decreed by the entire council in the chambers of the Hiararchs. Each honor guard stood at attention as the Shamed one passed. Freshly seared dishonor brands tatooed the former Sangheili council leaders body. For him, there was no honor. He was the one who was soley responsible for what the Hiararchs learned on the current events, and he failed to inform them of the riots that Unngoy and Kig-yar species were causing, and soon war would break throughout the entire city. He passed through the doors that would open automatically and lead him to the Prophets. Light shone on his exiled face, and he winced. Once his eyes set though, he was able to see their figures without the glare. "Ahh, you have arrived. Would you like to tell me why?" Said the Prophet of Truth as if he was an adult to a trouble making child whom hoped to make him feel guilty. "Yes, you brought me here to the mosoleaum of the Arbiter for my coming in to my new life, the life of one of the souls that rests here." Replied Shamed One. He was no longer worthy of his name. He had lied to the Prophets, and there was no going back. "Well, you've always been keen on keeping up with the times even near your life's end." Said the Prophet of Regret. "Holy ones talk more clearly I am not dead, yet. This is a {ic} phase {/ic} I will change and adapt, and when I do you will be there, that I promise." The Shamed One hadn't shown any signs of guilt so Regret backed away. "Yes well, you have a chance to go back to your old life just as long as soon as your term is over, we get your head." The Prophet of Mercy said, implying to the offer."No, I think not. I have more of a chance of living through these suicide missions. Thank you though." Implied the Elite with a jokingly sarcastic tone.

{b}Holy City, Grunt's cells, Political area, Two weeks prior to the riots. {/b}

This part of the city was where the Unngoy dwelled. Most of it was a mix of methane gas and destroyed slums. Grunts had been able to refit this area at the bottom tip of the city, and in the sector was four guarding towers within twenty klicks of each other. In the center of the city were two buildings. These buildings represented the small amount of political nerve that Unngoy were allowed to, courtesy of the Prophets, of course. Inside the complex was the politition Xiaxoa. He sat on the gel pads that higher rankin Unngoy were given. Granted he was in the second part of the complex, he had to where his appratus.

On the other side of the room was where two Kig-yar were sitting. One of them named Grok the creature cocked his head to his brother."Have you hired the sniper?" Asked Grok. The other Kig-yar that was Grok's brother Grek replied."Yes, he is right on the ledge over in the shadow at your left. Damn gassers never guard themselves, it will be easy for him." Whispered Grek in reply.

Xiaxoa stood up from his gel pad and walked over to the announcment podium. He acted calm, but on the inside he was secretly frightend. He stepped up and adjusted his breathing apparatus."Ahem, today we have met to handle the problems between our species the Unngoy, and your species, the Kig-yar. It seems that insulting slur has been boiling into small gang fights on the streets and, soon if not banished will erupt into total war between our species. Then, it will turn worse, much like a poison-" Right there a silent shot from a particle beam rifle cracked his off.

The Kig-yar revealed that they had plasma-pistols and had already switched their shields on, and the Unngoy had flipped over the podiums and tables for cover and took a small cache of weapons they hid under a floor board and attacked. One Grunt was smart enough to shoot down a plasma window, and methane seeped through. The Jackals started to choke on the atmosphere and the sniper fell off the ledge. War broke out and hell was the battlefield.

The dropship hook as another banshee attack, then it rammed into the side of the seraph."Damn! What the is with this banshee? Does it have a death wish?!" Said Zamzam, who was having the crappiest day of his life.
