The Admiral Chapter 1 Part 1
Date: 8 November 2002, 8:26 pm

"How could they have found us! Every ship that came in contact with them either initiated the Cole Protocol or self destructed." said Admiral Stanly Hanson
"I don't know sir." replied Colonal Allan Foster
      "Well find out colonal!"
      "Yes sir!"
The old Admiral was getting irritable and no one could blame him; earth was under seige and the humans were losing. Admiral Hanson was looking out from the bridge of the UNSC Cruiser NewHope, and wondering how it could have happened. What he saw was unbelievable, an entire covenant armada, orbiting earth and destroying anything that came in range. What was happening on earth was even more horrible, there were hundreds of explosions that from where he was looked very small but he knew must have been killing billions of people.
The UNSC fleet was in shambles, about ninety percent of it was destroyed, and the rest were mostly damaged. No one expected the covenant would be there so fast. The first thing the Covenant went for were the power stations planetside, and with those out the orbiting SuperMAC cannons were useless. The Covenant cought on fast thought the Admiral.
"Sir the Gatling is hailing us."one of the bridge crew reported.
      "Put them on."said the Admiral.
"This is the UNSC frigate Gatling, requesting assistance. We somehow got trapped, and were stuck on the side of earth opposite of the fleet."
"Is there any way you can get around the covenant without being detected?"
"No sir. We've looked at every route but the Covies have us blocked."
"We'll do what we can, Hanson out"
There was no hope for the Gatling, and Hanson knew it. One ship trapped and trying to get through the covenant forces. Two UNSC frigates were hardly a match for one covenant frigate, and one UNSC frigate against an entire Covenant armada! No, there was no way the Gatling would survive. But Hanson was a man of his word,so he would try to save the frigate.
"Get me Captain Burdou of the UNSC Frontier." said Hanson
"Yes sir." replied the communications officer
      "Captain Burdou, sir."
"Captain we have a trapped ship on the other side of the Covenant. You command the only survalence ship left in the fleet. I need you to find a way through the Covenants radar web. Think your up to it?"
      "Ill find a way sir."
      "Good. Harrison out."
Pondering what had happened, he remembered when he had first heard those fateful words "Earth is under seige! Its the Covenant!" over the com ,what, something like two days ago? And he hadn't even slept since then! He thought about it a moment longer then decided he needed some rest.
"Ill be in my quarters if anyone needs me."
The Admiral really needed some rest, it had been two days since he had gotten any sleep. He paused a moment longer to observe the horrible massicre, then left the bridge and walked to his quarters. Once in his quarters he walked directly to his bed. He was asleep before he hit the bed.

The Admiral, Chapter 1, Part 2

He awoke to the sound of someone talking over the intercom: "-e need you on the bridge."
He looked at the clock. Not even an hour of sleep he thought, it better be good. He walked over to the intercom and pressed the talk button.
      "What now?"asked the Admiral angrily
"Its Captain Burdou, sir" replied the communications officer.
      "Put him through the intercom"
      "Yes sir."
      "Admiral?"asked Burdou.
      "Yes, Captain?"
"We've found a hole in the radar web, sir"
      "Where?"
"Its in the Covenant's orbit sir. They have a break in it.
If we match there speed we can pass through on the opposite side on the planet than them. Its risky but if the don't detect the Gatling breaking or entering orbit I think it'll work."
"Thank you Captain, can you inform the Gatling of this?"
      "Yes sir."
      "Thanks, Hanson out."
Perfect the Admiral thought, the Gatling might make it after all. One less score for the Covenant. Now for some more sleep.
It was the next day when Hanson finally woke up. He took a shower and had some breakfast before finally going to the bridge.
"Report."said the Admiral as he walked onto the bridge.
"The Gatling made it sir! Other than that, not much happened, sir."
      "Great!"
A victory, he thought the humans needed that.
"Oh, I almost forgot" said communications officer (his name was Peter)"For some reason the Covies havent glassed earth, yet."
"Thats odd... Try to find out why." said Hanson thoughtfully.
"Have the covenant detected us yet?"
      "No, I dont think so."
      "Well keep scaning."
      "Yes sir."
      "How's earth coming."
"Beside the obvious, the covenant ground forces haven withdrawn yet so it doesn't seem the Covies will glass it any time soon."
OK, the Admiral thought, the covenant arent glassing earth any time soon so there must be a reason... Maybe they were searching for something, scanning the human databases for any useful information. Maybe not.
"Sir the rest of the fleet is repaired and ready to enter slipstream."said Peter
"Ok, enter slipstream on my mark."
      "Yes sir."
      "Now."
The space bubbled around the remainder of the UNSC fleet and then dissapeared. No one noticed the sleek dark silhouette that started to bubble too...
The trip through slipstream was a relatively short one, only two hours. They were going not actually to a star system but to a void in between two of them. And in that void was a secret military base disguised as a asteroid twenty miles long. It was the largest space base ever built. It housed most of the military's special forces and a barracks big enough to house fifteen million men. Hardly anyone in the fleet even knew of it. In fact he and only two other knew, exept of corse all the men on it knew as well.449
The Admiral's ship was the first to dock at the base bet Hanson stayed on the ship for a while longer. He had stayed in his quarters during slipstream then he went to the bridge to make sure everyone made it. Peter assured him all were accounted for. When Hanson was satisfied that everyone was there, he left the ship and entered the base.
