"Masterchief, John, wake up, Masterchief..."
"Huh, w-where am I"
"Your aboard a hi-jacked Covenant dropship." Cortana, the AI, said.
Then it all came back to him, everything that happened on Halo.
"We need to get back to the UNSC Control Center, we need to warn them of the Covenant fleet heading for them."
"Way ahead of you" replied Cortana "we are coming in for a landing now."
John, Masterchief-117, headed for the commander's office to debrief him. Upon meeting him, John saluted." At ease, spartan." Said Commander Polaski. "You said you wanted to see me?"
"Yes," John replied," there is a Covenant fleet on their way to this planet."
"How do you know this?"
"Because I was there, I only barely escaped on a dropship."
"Very well, then we will have to ready our marines and prepare our defenses, do you have a plan spartan?" Polaski said.
"Well, now that you mention it, yes, but I will need a special-operations team."
"Now that, I can give you, Chief."
John went to meet his newly assembled team, now known as Team Delta, consisting of 4 members, 5 if you included John. The first member, Sam, aka Delta Shadow, was the team's close combat weapons specialist. Next, was Li, aka Delta Bravo, the team's sniper. Will, aka Delta Gold, is the pilot, and José, aka Delta 1, is the explosives specialist.
After meeting each soldier, the Masterchief briefed them on their mission. Commander Polaski briefed his marines as well.
The Masterchief and the rest of Team Delta were gearing up when the unbelievable happened. There was a boom followed by the unmistakable 'whoosh' of a Wraith's mortar fire. They heard a crash as the Operations Control Center burst into flames and molten metal. The Covenant had done the unthinkable to attack such a heavily armed base. Although this also meant the Covenant would be fighting on the ground, giving the humans a scarcely received advantage in this war.
"Chief, should we still go ahead with the plan?" asked Will.
"Screw that plan, we gotta defend this base." replied John.
Team Delta was gearing up when they heard another boom.
"Sounds like there's more than one Wraith" said Sam.
Then Masterchief looked at one of the security camera feeds on the computer and couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"There is 9 Wraiths out there with at least 15 Banshees and over 400 ground troops!" shouted the Masterchief.
"How many marines do we have here?" asked Li.
"Only about 2 or 3 hundred." said José.
"I think we will need more guns." said Will.
The Masterchief and the rest of his team left the weapons room fully equipped with what they needed.
John then said, "All right, Li, you go on that cliff ledge to the west and snipe them to bits. Will, you get on a Scorpion tank and take out those Wraiths. Sam, José and I will help defend here at the base."
The rest of the team nodded in understanding and left to their positions.
Once Li was in position on the cliff over-looking the battle that was taking place he couldn't believe what he saw. There were so many Covenant troops he didn't know where to begin to shoot. So he decided on a Gold Elite standing on a rock directing a group of grunts. He took aim with his S2 AM sniper rifle, put the Elite's head in-between his crosshairs, and fired.
The Masterchief, Sam, and José were looking out over a makeshift bunker in front of the UNSC base with the rest of the Marines when they saw it. There was a Gold Elite standing on a rock when there was a shot followed by a mist of purple blood where the Elite's head used to be and then his body crumpled into a heap.
"That's Li!" shouted Sam. They then opened fire with the rest of the Marines on the Covenant. First there was confusion, as the Covenant didn't know what had happened. Then they opened fire on the Marines at the bunker. The battlefield immediately became a cloud of bullets and super-heated plasma going back and forth.
Will was already in the Scorpion when the battle begun. He was comfortable with the controls so he fired his 90mm shell right at the Wraith at the front of the army. The shell hit his target and the Wraith exploded into a flaming ball of molten metal and shrapnel. Will then turned on the ground units and fired his secondary armor piercing machine gun. He was just absolutely mowing them down when he looked up and saw a plasma mortar coming right for him. So he jumped out of the tank just as the mortar collided with it. The blast threw Will from where he was and he impacted hard with the ground.
John and his team were busy holding off the Covenant when he saw the tank explode. He was about to wonder if Will was still in it but then saw Will running toward the battle.
Li was busy taking out Elites and saw the tank blow up. Then he saw a Gold Elite approaching Will from behind. So Li shot the elite and hit his mark. The bullet inserted right into the Elite's brain and he died instantly.
Will heard the sniper shot and saw the elite die right behind him. Then he pulled out two M6C Magnums and quickly loaded a few rounds into a grunt in front of him. Just then another Gold Elite came out but this time he was holding a dangerous looking energy sword. Will pulled the trigger on his Magnum but it just made a clicking noise. He checked the clip but it was empty!

Will decided to chuck one of his pistols at the Elite's head. The Elite dodged it. The Elite was approaching fast and raised his sword to strike. In a last ditch effort Will pistol-whipped the Elite's head with the butt of his magnum. It got through the Elite's shield, but it was too late. The Elite slashed Will with his sword right across the stomach. He fell to the ground on his back. There was a white-hot pain across his chest. The Elite then finished the job with a killing blow.
John, Sam, and José were having problems of their own. Although all of the Wraiths had blown up, there was still 4 Banshees left. One of the Banshees was strafing and firing on a group of Marines, so José got out his last M41-SSR Rocket launcher. He locked onto the Banshee and fired his last rocket. It hit the Banshee and it erupted in flame, and then crashed to the ground.
"One down, three more to go!" Shouted José. Then John saw another Banshee circling above them, ready to fire. It then swooped down on them. John took his chance and jumped onto the banshee's wing. He opened the cockpit, grabbed the Elite driving it, and threw him off of the Banshee to his death. John then climbed into the cockpit and began to rain down fire on the Covenant. Once they realized the Banshee wasn't on their side John was already out of the Banshee back at the bunker.
"Good one" shouted Sam.
John looked to his right and saw that many of the Marines were dropping suddenly. When he realized why, he shouted "Get DOWN!"
But it was too late. The Covenant sniper using the Beam Rifle had shot Sam. John rushed to his aid, but it was too late. He was dead.
Li couldn't believe it when he saw Sam die. He followed the trail of the shot with his scope and saw the sniper. He took aim and blew of the Jackal's head. He was picking another target when he saw Will's dead body. There was an Elite standing over it so Li shot him dead. Now all that was left of Team Delta was himself, John, and José.
Meanwhile John and José were stuck trying to take out two Banshees with no rockets.
"It's no use, we can't take them out with only a few Battle Rifles and magnums!" shouted José.
"I've got an idea." said John.
He pulled out a plasma grenade that he had picked up from a dead Elite. He activated it and there was a blue glow. He chucked it at the Banshee and it stuck on the cockpit. The pilot jumped out but it was too late. The Banshee exploded into a fireball that crashed into the ground. Then José got the idea and stuck the last Banshee.
Li could tell that the humans were actually winning the battle. If they could pull this off then they might have a chance in the war. He shot a few more enemies when he realized that one of the platoons of Elites he was watching was missing. He couldn't see their dead bodies so he assumed that they went on some kind of mission. He then saw that there was an Elite commando pointing at him. Or maybe behind him...
He turned around and saw the platoon sneaking about 20 yards behind him, and they hadn't seen him yet. He quickly exchanged his Sniper for a M90 Shotgun. He dove behind a rock overlooking his old position. The first Elite up was stunned that Li was not there anymore. Acting on the Elite's surprise, Li jumped off the rock and landed on the Elite's head, crushing his body down to the ground. Then he hid behind a corner and waited for the rest of the platoon. When they came around the corner, they saw the dead Elite's body. That was when Li jumped out and shot the first Elite with his shotgun. The Elite cried out in pain and then fell to the ground. The other Elites opened fire on Li. He shot the first one twice in the abdomen, then he smacked the next one with the but of his Shotgun. There was still one more Elite left. Li saw him laugh, and felt a feeling of dread. The Elite pulled out a menacing looking energy sword. Li pulled the trigger on his shotgun, but seeing that it was out of ammo, he pulled out his sniper rifle. The sniper only had 1 shot left so he couldn't miss or else he would be shredded to ribbons. Li waited until the Elite was ready to lunge, then took aim and fired. The bullet ripped through the Elite's skull and he fell backwards off the cliff. Li decided to go and join the battle with John and José.

John and José saw Li running towards them to join the battle. Once he got there he said, "My position was found on the cliff, so I thought that I should come and help you guys out."
"Thanks." Replied John and José.
The battle was looking better and better for the humans. The Covenant were losing ground and their troops were getting tired. They had no more vehicles or tanks, while the humans still had a few Warthogs with LAAG guns mounted on the back. When the Masterchief noticed these, he said to Li and José, "Follow me, I've got an idea."
When they reached the Warthog, John got in the driver's seat, José on the LAAG, and Li in the passenger seat. John started the engine and headed off towards the battle. Li had gotten a new BR55 Battle Rifle and was firing it out of the passenger seat, while José was shooting the turret at the Covenant ground troops.
They were racking up kills when the Masterchief saw trouble. A grunt had chucked a plasma grenade and it landed right were they were driving. It detonated and sent their Warthog hurtling. John was thrown off of it and landed hard on his side. He looked around and saw that Li was lying on his stomach, while José was nowhere to be seen. John tried to get up but he felt extreme pain in his side. He figured he had a broken rib. He decided to crawl towards Li and found that he was merely unconscious. He woke Li up and they both looked around for José. Then Li saw him and shouted, "He's over here!"
The Masterchief came running and saw the ugly site. The Warthog had flipped onto its side, and José was thrown off right under it. He was barely awake, and bravely said, "G-go…k-k kill the C-Covenant." Then he died.
"You heard him, let's go kick some Covenant butt!" shouted Li.
Li and John were back at the bunkers when a marine came up to them and said, "Sir, it looks like the Covenant are retreating, sir, should we follow?"
"Yes, don't let any escape." Said Masterchief.
Li and the Masterchief both jumped into a Pelican with a mounted turret on the back. John got on the turret while Li was sniping out the back. They made a sweep over the covenant and the turret cut threw them like scissors. Then the pilot of the Pelican asked, "Permission to use a anti-infantry smart bomb, Sir?"
"Permission granted." Said John.
The pilot prepared the bomb to be dropped and on the second sweep he pressed the button to drop it. Li and John looked out the back and saw the bomb hit the ground and explode, sending a miniature mushroom cloud into the air. The shock wave of the bomb, as well as the flames that erupted from it killed all of the rest of the Covenant troops. When the Pelican landed, John and Li said a goodbye, and John left for a new mission on a different planet.
Li went to join his own group of Spec Op Marines, as part of the USDD (United States Department [of]Defense), under Sgt. Mento's Command. There was an urgent message from the USDD Commander, about a new target city. He said that New York City already had Covenant troops destroying it and they needed Sgt. Mento and his team, (including Li) to stop them. So Li left on a Pelican to his new assignment.

***Author's Note***
If you want to read about Li's mission to New York City, then you should read my new Series, called "Marine". It is going to be mostly from Sgt. Mento's point of view. It will still have Li in it, but the story will not be a lot from Li's point of view. I should have the first volume of "Marine" done soon, like maybe in a few weeks or so, depending on when it gets done. I have finished the first page of Vol. 1.
