The Spartans On Reach: Part 1
Date: 5 April 2004, 10:43 PM

The planet Reach was in a dire situation, the Spartans were doing the best they could to hold off the covenant, but they had destroyed Reach's orbital SUPERMAC guns, and were ready to glass the planet. The master chief was on a secret mission, though he longed to be fighting on Reach with the other Spartans. His mission was to locate and retrieve, or destroy a NAV database containing an innumerable amount of secrets that could mean the turning point of this war. He had two Spartans with him to help; there was Linda, the sniper who had gotten them through many training sessions on the planet. There was also James, who had assisted in his training on the obstacle course, where they all still could remember Chief Petty Officer Mendez shouting orders. The master chief knew some of his Spartans would die today...but he wasn't sure, was he spending their lives, or was he wasting them? He couldn't decide. If he was to spend their lives, it was for a good cause. But what if they didn't save Reach, and it was glassed...all of the Spartans who went to defend the planet would be killed...not just the Spartans, his only family. He couldn't worry about that now, all he could do was hope. Meanwhile, planet side, Fred was longing to be on the special ops mission that the master chief bravely took command of. Even though many of his friends were here fighting and dying next to him, he didn't want to be here.
The master chief saw the covenant getting ready to glass the planet. Then he finally reached the database, he soon found out that they were being chased by covenant. There was no time to retrieve the disk, he had to destroy it. Linda and James were doing a great job holding of the enemy off, until James got a plasma grenade stuck on his helmet. Linda dived to the side as the grenade went off, James was dead. It wouldn't be long now. The master chief fired two armor-piercing rounds at the database...it exploded. The covenant found their way in, the Spartans were just about to enter the Pillar of Autumn, when Linda was struck in the back from multiple plasma fire. The master chief wasn't leaving without Linda, so he grabbed her, shot a few rounds at the covenant, and backed into the hatch. He was worried, when he saw the planet getting glassed, he thought that he would never see his Spartans again. He couldn't stop thinking about Linda's condition. The Pillar of Autumn was about to leave into slipspace, when the master chief saw the covenant holding back from glassing one section, though the possibilities were slim, his Spartans might still be alive. The covenant warships noticed the human ship leaving normal space, and they pursued it, hoping to bring it down.
Meanwhile on the planet Reach the section that was unglassed, held fifteen of the Spartans. They had fierce battles with the covenant, every week another Spartan could be reported as missing in action, or killed in action, it wasn't long before they all would be gone. Dr. Halsey was with them, they still had a chance if they were to go into the underground bases. They did not know what they were going to do about their current situation, especially since they didn't know where the master chief was. They decided, they would fight to the death, or until they were rescued.
The Pillar of Autumn was in a tight situation too, they were attacked by seven covenant warships that were waiting for them. They would have to land somewhere, there was the planet Threshold, or a strange and mysterious ring world. They didn't have much time for a decision, they could land on the planet, but there was a risk of being attacked by hostiles, and the fact that the covenant could glass the planet with them on it. Their time had run out, the Autumn was hit bad, marines were entering the lifeboats, and taking a one way trip to the ring of mystery. The chief had decided to do the same, he boarded a lifeboat and got off of that burning metal deathtrap. Then the Autumn started to accelerate, Captain Keyes was going in manual.
Every day the covenant would send more and more troops to destroy the last of the survivors, and every time the Spartans would send them packing. They had decided to retreat into the underground bases, but they did not know what was in there, so they would have to move with caution. The bases would provide them with shelter and keep them from being snuck up on They had only just crossed the third door, when they heard explosions...the covenant were trying to break in. They picked up their pace, they would have to move faster if they wanted to evade the covenant. Then they spotted a glowing crystal. They were all wondering what it was when Dr. Halsey reported it was wanted by the covenant. Fred moved closer and took the crystal for analysis. There was nothing to inspect until after he touched it. The patterns on the walls started to light up one by one, until a secret path was revealed. The Spartans moved with caution, they did not know what could lie ahead. They could be falling into a trap. What they soon found had amazed them all. They had found a weapons cache full of human, as well as covenant weapons. Everyone stocked up on MA5B assault rifles, took one pistol each, and took their share of grenades. The covenant would move closer every day, it would not be long before they were right on top of the Spartans. Sometimes at night they could here the grunts of the covenant.
They had lasted for two years now. They had then decided it was kill...or be killed. The Spartans were ready to make their move, they just had to wait for the right moment to strike, for if they struck too late...all would be lost. The moment after they had just set up their formation, the covenant blasted their way in. There was a fierce gunfight. Grunts, jackals, and elites were flying in every direction as a result of the crate of frag grenades that was recovered. The covenant also had alternatives, for their jackals had set up a huge energy shield, so the elites could recover their shields. Then the jackals broke formation, as ten silver armored elites charged into the fray. The Spartans quickly reached for their pistols, and fired several blasts into the skulls of the hostiles...all ten fell. The covenant were retreating, they knew they could not beat them with only grunts, and jackals. The Spartans quickly pursued them, taking out one at a time, until there was nothing left to shoot at. The next day came, and they were met with a combination of sword wielding elites, and grunts. The Spartans hid behind out jutting rocks...waiting for the enemy. The first sight of the enemy came at noon, when a grunt ran around the corner and was met with ten bullets, tearing through its armor and ripping through its flesh. As the covenant saw their comrade fall, they took defensive positions. The covenant and Spartans had sat in their positions for one hour. It was now in the afternoon, when the covenant crept and lurked in the shadows, hoping to take the humans by surprise. However, the Spartans also tried to use the shadows. The covenant and humans met when Fred walked into the back of an elite. All hell broke loose as the elite let out a battle cry that shook the Spartans from the inside out. Following the cry, seven plasma swords tore through the night sky and lit the battle. Three grunts came down at once, as they were looking for something to shoot at, because Kelly slammed their heads together...crushing their skulls. Then the elites charged in rage, as they saw their comrades fall, plasma swords blazing...

To Be Continued.

The Spartans on Reach continued
Date: 22 April 2004, 12:33 AM

The Spartans couldn't take on seven sword wielding elites at once, so they broke off into groups of threes. Then the elites did something unexpected...they formed a circle around the Spartans. Though there were nine Spartans, and only seven elites, they had plasma swords. The elites charged, screaming in rage. Five Spartans dodged the swords, however there were four unlucky ones. All of them were wounded, and they all had huge gashes in their armor. They could feel their blood draining as the bio-foam filled their wounds. The five others who had dodged them knocked the covenant swords away, and took on hand-to-hand combat. One Spartan threw a punch and missed, and the elite he was fighting swept him off his feet, and drove his fist straight into his chest.

The Spartan's chest cavity caved in, and he died as the blood poured out of him. Another elite was not so lucky as a Spartan grabbed his arm, turned it around his back, and wrenched it off. Two elites came down together as a Spartan picked up a plasma sword, and with excessive force, sliced both of their heads off. A second Spartan came down as an elite drove his plasma sword into his head. The battle lasted for several hours, with which all of the covenant had perished, and yet so did two Spartans. The Spartans traveled many miles, when they reached a campsite of covenant. They were struck with awe, as twelve wraiths slowly made their way to the camp, searching for survivors. They hid in some trees, evading the tanks. The Spartans thought about it long and hard, and then decided, they would send two of them to steal the wraiths, and destroy the others. The plan would commence at night, as the pilots would be sleeping, and there was a shadow shrouded the campsite. The two Spartans bravely took on stealth, as their mission would not be an easy one. They were moving quickly, tree-to-tree. Then they both froze, as six grunts strolled past. One Spartan climbed a tree, while the other caused distractions to lure one at a time. When one would come past, the Spartan in the tree would jump down, and crush the enemy under his boots. Soon they were all dead the Spartans dove for the wraiths, hiding while the night patrol searched the area.

Then they jumped into the cockpits of the mammoth tanks. Wondering how the elites piloted them, since the Spartans had to crouch to fit. When the guards turned away they took the controls, spun around, and fired their mortar tanks on the band of wraiths. The wraiths went up in a fiery red explosion, glowing brilliant yellow and orange. Lights appeared all over the campsite. The Spartans next targets were the elites. They fired the mortar. The elite tent exploded sending the enemy flying in every direction. Next, they would go after the jackals and grunts. They lifted their tanks and...crunch. Blood splattered all over the front of the Spartans' tank. Then when the camp was cleared, the other Spartans moved in. When the two Spartans got out of the tanks, they were drenched with sweat. The Spartans moved, they couldn't be caught as sitting ducks. They moved in groups of threes and twos. One group took the left, the other right, and the last forward. They were each met with a formidable foe.

The two groups of three used combined fire to shred the enemy, the group of two split around the covenant, and bashed in their skulls with their super strength. Then they regrouped, it would be easier to travel together rather than apart. They moved about thirty-five meters, when they were attacked. Four covenant banshees swooped in---in an attempt to run the Spartans over. They had failed, and two came down as the Spartans jumped on top, shredding them and the elites' heads inside with armor-piercing bullets. They hopped off...the banshees exploded, lighting the forest on fire, and sending the pilots, and their weapons flying. Next came a wave of jackals, and the Spartans met them with a horde of grenades, sending blood and body parts flying everywhere. After they were destroyed the Spartans took to hiding behind trees. They were their own individual ghosts, having their own tactics.

The master chief was returning to Reach, with a hope that his fellow Spartans had survived. They finally got there, and sent a transmission to the survivors...two signals and no response. Then a third was sent, and it was returned with the Spartans signal. The master chief brought the dropship to a land, and saw his Spartans running for it. They were being attacked from behind and their sides, so the Spartans picked up their speed. When they reached the dropship, they saw the doors slide open , and they saw the master chief. They hopped in, buckled up, and started to lift, under heavy plasma fire. They were on the brink of exploding, when they jumped out of reach of the weapons, and were safe.

The End.
