Nemesis I : Mission X
Date: 1 January 2004, 5:24 PM

It was a glorious day, the sun was shining, the grass was green, and the trees were blowing gently in the breeze. Just like it has always been on Nyuis 9. Nyuis 9 was a beautiful planet. It was the place everyone wanted to live. Until the Covenant got there... The Covenant had taken Nyuis 9 a couple of weeks ago, and the Spartan's mission, Mission X, was to get it back.

The Spartan for this mission was the last Spartan left in the universe. He is Spartan Master Chief Nemesis. No, Nemesis is not his code name. When Dr. Halsey found the child, he had no name, so they used his to-be code name, Nemesis. He is the strongest, smartest, bravest, and everything else you could think of. Nemesis knew his way around EVERY weapon, and has passed each weapon?s tests with flying colors. He also knows his way in space flight and ground vehicles, even Covenant vehicles. You could say that Nemesis was the ultimate soldier, which was why he was sent with no backup on this mission, Mission X.

Nemesis was sitting on the controls of his own transport/fighter ship, called The Nemesis, not named by him, but by his former team. It carried 2 Archer Missiles and a very Mini-MAC gun. The ship was sleek and black. But that didn't help it blend in anywhere. The good thing about this day was that the Covenant hadn't yet installed their radars, so he would be able to land in a forest far from the hostiles, and enter with a controlled mind.

"Cortana, get me full power to the thrusters. I don't think we're gonna need to be using the MAC, today." Nemesis said to the ship's AI, not to mention the smartest AI the UNSC possessed. Hacking, piloting, everything.

"Well, if your sure... Aye, sir." Cortana said. Although she hadn't noticed any space activity around Nyuis 9, she was always very protective of what she thought as "her Spartan". They have gone on missions together for quite a while now. They were like friends.

"All power diverted." Cortana announced, her holographic image showing data. "Anything else, Chief?"

"That'll be all." The Chief replied. He had traveled light, today. Only a MA5B Assault Rifle and a S2 AM Sniper Rifle with a few frag and plasma grenades, of course with the backup M6D Pistol. Although he could use any weapon he wished, those 3 were his favorite.

The ship sped towards the planet at an increased rate. The Chief couldn't wait to kick some Covenant butt, and he noticed he'd do no butt kicking up in space. Well, that is what he thought, and he was right. They landed in a beautiful forest with no problem, took out their equipment, again, no problem. He took out the small cube that Cortana was ejected into and put it into a slot in his head. He felt a cool liquid fill him up, a small jab of pain, and then comfort, as the AI entered his mind.

He walked out of the ship, already sure there were no hostilities. He closed the hatch and looked around. No sign of Covenant anywhere. Time to blow.

"Cortana, set self-destruct for 30 seconds." The Chief asked of the AI.

"Self-destruct... set. Let's motor!" the AI replied. Cortana had that kind of personality.

The Chief wanted to see the small explosion, so he walked a distance and tucked himself behind a tree, ready to see it blow. The Covenant wouldn't notice an explosion of it's size, as it was small, and left remains that would be gone within a day from the self-destruct disappearing liquid that had been sprayed before the ship had blown.

"That was pretty." The Chief said, and started towards the Covenant Stronghold, or what was secretly called a "city". Although no one in the UNSC Command wanted to classify the location the Covenant held as a city, because if they did, the Admiralty would want to send more than Master Chief, they'd want to send an entire army, which really wasn't necessary.

It took only 4 hours before they reached the borders. The Chief was snuck behind a tree, peeking to see if any opposition awaited him. He didn?t see anything, but he was blinded by a tree with a large trunk ahead of him. He checked his HUD radar. He saw 3 red blips.

"Cortana, if those are Hunters, we'll have to enter another way. So what are they?" The Chief asked his AI, who probably had a sense of what the enemy creatures were.

"No, not Hunters. 2 Grunts and a Jackal. The Jackal is facing his shield towards you, but himself facing towards your left. The 2 Grunts are facing the Jackal. They seem to be relaxed and talking about non-'business' related things." Cortana responded, making extra observations so that the Chief would have an easier time.

"That shouldn't be too hard." The Chief said, and brought up his M6D Pistol. He ducked and rolled behind the tree with a large trunk. The leaves on it were green and yellow, but the trunk was brown and empty of mold. He peeked around the right side, where the Jackal's back was exposed. He went 2x zoom and sent 2 shots, eliminating the first threat. The 2 Grunts immediately brought up their weapons, and scanned the forest front. Their hands were trembling. Grunts were brave when accompanied by superiors, but they weren't when alone among themselves. They were brave in numbers, as well, but 2 wasn't a very large number to them. They just kept scanning that spot over and over for the enemy who shot down their friend.

The Chief put down his pistol, and brought up his MA5B Assault Rifle. He was still behind the large tree. He rolled behind another tree, which gave him an angle at the Grunt more towards the right, now at his left. The other Grunt saw the movement, but didn't dare to chase after it. They were both armed with Plasma Pistols. The Chief could've brought that team of 3 out with a couple of bursts in 3.5 seconds, but the truth is, the Chief took pleasure in his work. He is known all over the UNSC for his disabling of enemies in seconds. He once took out a team of 12 Elites FIRING on him in 21.5 seconds without any weapon besides his hands. But, when he can, and time isn't precious, he's sneaky and makes his enemies tremble. He loves taking his time, when he can, of course. And this time, he could.

He peeked from the left side of the tree and sent a small, sustained burst into one of the Grunt's head. The Grunt collapsed and the other started running in circle at the sight of the blue-white blood coming out of his friend's dead head. The Chief revealed himself and sent a small burst into the panicking Grunt, who collapsed instantly.

"Nice job, Chief." Cortana said. The Chief didn't care for praise, but he said a small "thanks", to be polite. He walked over to the disabled enemies and picked up some plasma grenades. He also picked up the Jackal's personal shield, ONI wanted all Covenant weapons found. But this one was burnt out, so it was just thrown back onto the floor. He walked towards the structure that was probably going to be the main radar base.

The door was large, but the activation button was small. It was a small red button on the side of the door, which made a small click! sound when the Chief pressed it. The doors slid open and the Chief sidestepped out of view. 22 red blips appeared on his radar.

"Any ideas, Chief?" Cortana asked the usually "always has a plan" man.

"Certainly." The Chief said. He took a M9 HE-DP Grenade and threw it into the building, followed by 2 more of the frag grenades. He heard excited and angry shouts, but the truly satisfying sound was the explosions of the grenades. The red blips lowered deeply in numbers, which meant the Chief could start his own trouble. He took his MA5B Assault Rifle and sprayed dozens of rounds into the building, when his crosshair turned red, of course, and slammed in fresh clips when needed. The Covenant had fired some shots at the Chief, but none were hits. They were mostly Grunts, and as so, with the death of the 2 Elite superiors, they were probably in great panic, having no direction. The Chief, unnoticed, entered the building and snuck behind a small counter. He saw 4 Grunts left, 2 in panic and 2 at extreme readiness. He took his pistol and stuck his head up from his location, zoomed in at 2x, and took out 2 of the Grunts with a few shots. The other 2 were the panicked ones. They were running in circles and firing at random places. Another thing Nemesis, or Master Chief as he is called, likes to do, is to end the battle with melee attacks.

He ducked down and crawled behind one of the Grunts, who stopped spinning in circles. The other was still frantic. The Chief grabbed the calmed Grunt's leg and swung his body at the other Grunt. Both slammed into the wall and died from the harsh impact.

"Nice work, Master Chief." Cortana praised again. It was as if the Chief were a dog and every time he did something good, Cortana gave him a small snack. He cleaned the entire fight of plasma grenades and anything else he could use in the battles ahead.

"Look, a stack of crates. They are marked with an X. Check them out, Chief." Cortana noted as the Chief walked towards them. He opened the top crate and found tons of MA5B Assault Rifles and ammo. The second was dusty and had tons of M90 Shotguns, with the ammo. The third contained M6D Pistols and ammo. The fourth contained S2 AM Sniper Rifles, no ammo this time, though.

"They've been gathering our weapons and categorizing them... Strange stuff." The Chief said, scavenging some ammo for his guns.

"Let's go, we have a mission we have to focus on. I've noted this into my database. We'll report it to ONI as soon as we can. Till then, let's kick some Covenant butt."

"Aye, ma'am." The Chief said, playfully. The plasma and smoke covered warehouse was now a thing of the past. The Chief walked out, surveyed the area, and started towards the main city. The sun was back up and the breeze was calmer. The Chief had no time to reflect, however, as they had just heard their escape ship, Echo 9222, had faced some opposition lately. This meant the Chief had to hurry up a bit.

The city wasn't really defended well. A few patrols went here and there, but no Shades were stationed, no air support, nothing. This would work to the Chief's advantage. All he had to do was kill all the Covenant, then wait for the occupation force to drop down, assist, which basically meant protect, them until the planet was defended properly by the UNSC.

"Alright, Chief, what's your plan?" Cortana asked the Spartan.

"Kill every Covenant I see..."
