Private Winfield joined the Marines to protect his planet, but after his family was killed and his home destroyed he was sent to Earth to protect her from total destruction, with the hopes of revenge.....

I watched as a Serpent Fighter jet flew over head and wondered what it must be like to be a covenant. I mean I've seen plenty of the little basterd through my Sniper rifle, but what dose it fell like to destroy an entire race of humans? Then I thought of home, and the last time I saw my family, my mom and little brother were trapped in a corner of two building, as 3 red armored Elites approached. I saw my little brother who was 7 years old, stand tall and shoot the heavy armored Elites with his prized BB gun, refusing to run away from his duty. I ran across the street to help him bring down the Elites but as I went ran all of a sudden I went black, the next thing I knew I on board the ship Anteenam , in the infirmary. When I asked the nurse what happened she said I was found unconscious by an area where a plasma grenade had blown up. I could only image what happened to my family.

"Winfield, take out that pair of hunters, NOW!, The Sargent bellowed.

I zoomed my Sniper to 10x magnification, and found the bright orange flesh of the back of one the hunters. I had been an excellent shot in boot camp, and the drill Sargent gave me a try at a sniper rifle, turned out I was better with it than anything else. I squeezed off a quick round and saw a tiny spay of orange blood as the bullet stream blew through the hunters back, just as his fuel rod rifle was just turning bright green. Before the first hunter's partner could turn around and see his comrade dead, he too lay on the ground with a purple of bright orange blood around him. Take that you assholes, I thought, I was still thinking of my brother fighting bravely against his death. It did make me feel good that he didn't run and hid like the rest of the people.

"Good work son, you might just make it through this damn war", Smirked the Sargent.

Yes Sir! I quickly replied and automatically check my amo in my web gear. I had 6 clips of sniper rounds and 3 clips for my pistol. This was bull shit, how was I supposed to help hold this position behind enemy lines if I had no amo? I had already taken amo from any wounded or killed snipers and was still low. We were on high ground and the covey were in the middle of a little valley, but that didn't matter anymore, I was the only human sniper left in the platoon, and the covenant Elites now carried a kind of sniper rifle that shot bright red round, it was also very accurate at long ranges. The last Elite in the valley below that had one, was about to take aim at the Sargent, as I zoomed in on him and sneezed a 2 round burst that cracked his shield and then pierce his armor, causing bits of bone and a purple spray of blood to fall on a sleeping grunt and causing him to awaken in fright, as another round tore through his methane rig. I watched as he fought for breath until finally he died, crawling for his medic to help him get a new methain rig straped on.

"Hows your amo son". The Sargent asked as he wiped some sweat from his brow.

"I can always use amo sir, but for now I think I can hold a little longer, I've got 24 rounds left. I said, looking at the Sargent. The Sarge had taken a special interest in me for some reason, I heard he had a son that died a few weeks back that resemble me a lot, so I figured the Sarge was trying to find some comfort in me.

Good son, cause we gota hold this shit hole area, and you're the only one keepin us alive, So get ready, HQ says they cant get us amo but the covey are bought ready to try and take this....

The Sarge couldn't finish his sentence cause a red beam went into his face, causing him to die imeaditly, as I looked for the sniper I saw a wave of over 100 covey comin my way.
