Covent, Human, Union by Private Shawn

Surviving Onyx
Date: 17 July 2007, 8:11 am

A UNSC battle cruiser drifted over what remains of Onyx . The cruiser was on the bright side of the planet, sun light beamed through the bridge. Beside it glistened Covenant phantoms attached onto the main docking bay's doors. A lone marine and six foot figure stood in the bridge. The UNSC marine wore a private first class uniform, and under the cloth parts of the armor a blue light glowed throughout. The light trailed in place of the man's veins. He stood at ease with a standard assault rifle face down at his side. The six foot figure had golden armor on, standing proudly looking out of the bridge. At his side was a plasma rifle.

The two stood there for awhile, gazing on the sparkling booms and spheres, making up what seemed to be a giant mechanical eyes. Onyx was nothing but the "eyes" now; they floated in place and seemingly watched. "Shall we call in the crew" the man said. The figure next to him said still staring outside "Yes" and tapped a button on the control panel. "All bridge personal" the figure said "report in A.S.A.P." Foot steps came from behind and then a crew of humans appeared with some small creatures behind. The marine turned to the crew and said "to your stations, we need to slipspace out of here in ten." The crew nodded and hurried off.

"Can I see the tape?" the figure asked the marine. The marine's H.U.D. blinked off and he toke out a chip and handed it to the figure. "Here you go." The marine said "but I want that back after your done. No one must see it." The figure bowed and left the bridge. A small bridge member stood nearby and said "you actually trust him?" The marine knelt down closer to the soldier and said smiling "You Covenant are honorable, of course I trust him." The marine got up and walked out of the bridge. He continued walking until he reached the part of the ship with everyone's cabins.

The marine thought of how with the new amount of crew members they'll need more space in the cabin section, but that was a minor worry. Over six hours spent on all the upgrades and new equipment for the ship was just done, cabins can't worry him. The one that took the most time coursed through his veins. It pained him thinking about it. The marine found a cabin with the number 365 and entered. The marine placed his rifle to his back and sat on a bed in the right hand corner of the room. Next to it was a lab top inside the wall. There also was a table in the middle along with a small freezer near the door.

The marine sat down and waited, expecting their slipspace jump soon. They launched. The marine laid flat on the bed and fell asleep. Twelve minutes later a knock came to his door. Outside was the same figure from the bridge. The marine let him in. "I trust Yutir you brought back the chip?" Yutir nodded and gave the marine a small chip. "I could not watch it but I did get sound. It's very sad." Yutir looked and the ground as if disgraced. "My laptop can play it with visual, do you want to watch?" The elite slowed raised his head and nodded.

The marine put the chip in. A hologram of a skinny tall man in a blue shirt with green pants on appeared. The hologram said "S.E.B. reporting, do you want computer or room speakers?" "Computer" responded the marine. "Playing in one, I wanna little glimpse of it." That was S.E.B. for you doing pretty much what he wanted with your time. The screen flickered on and images appeared. The background was fuzzy but you could clearly make out a large set of stairs, a dead hunter, the other hunter, tons of Covenant infantry, and banishes flying all about.

An elite step out of the crewed in golden fleet master armor. He proclaimed "Damage not the center. Engineers with the slipspace field shunts...Reopen the silver gate. Glory is ours!" the horde cried out in a wave of victory calls. The human the photo age was taken from by a point-to-point beam said "you haven't won. You've still got me to get through." The elite advanced and in the corner of the camera a timer blinked 0:00. Then across screens Spartan names Will, Dante, and Holly were placed in a missing in action section.

Then the title of the character the photo age was taken from was highlighted. It said Lieutenant Commander Kurt Ambrose is now missing in action with Spartan-051 Kurt.
The image started wobbling, like he couldn't swallow then jerked as if he saw something. He looked around him self, like looking at Ghosts. The elite now at him said "one last fight, demon. You will die and we shall reopen the silver path." The character now known as Kurt said laughing "Die? Didn't you know...Spartans never die." A light consumed the screen.

S.E.B. turned off the screen, not wanting to say anything. Yutir looked away from the screen. The marine sat Yutir in a chair. Almost crying Yutir said "I'm so sorry your mentor died like that Caim, I wish I could have done something...anything." Caim wrapped an arm round Yutir and said "He died honorably, and fulfilled a Spartans duty to fight." Caim's veins glowed a brighter blue which stung him greatly. S.E.B. came up and said "The Brutes found us."

Brute engagment
Date: 17 July 2007, 8:22 am

Shawn looked at his laptop screen, which displayed the battlefield, to devisee a tactic. Shawn swung his assault rifle off his back, checked the clip on the built in computer screen and then looked back to the laptop. There were three Brute battle cruisers in front of them preparing for attack. "S.E.B. tell the bridge this command." Shawn then touched the icon for the Blue Shield and pulled a green line out of it toward one of the cruisers. "Sending" S.E.B. announced. Yutir stood starred down saying "Sir what shall I do?" Shawn snapped his fingers to get Yutir's attention then said "Once target one is down get target two." Yutir was confused "Sir…" he began but Shawn interrupted saying "I'm just a marine that you made more of. I'm not your superior." Yutir nodded then said "what are you going to do?" Shawn grinned and said "taking out target three."

Shawn walked out of the room and headed for the main hanger. Yutir went to the bridge. Shawn saw four pelicans being readied, and in a corner stood three marines, each the same rank as Shawn. Shawn rushed over to them and said "Were is our ride." One of the marines, a very stocky man of Russian background with rugged brown hair, said "I thought you commanded the ship now." Another marine in the group who was bald and just as big as the Russian said "There's a Crow over there." The black man pointed to a dropship the size of a pelican but with gravity thrusters, a mini MAC gun(mmg), black painted phantom armor plates and a drop/landing pad just like in the back of pelicans. This ship looked like a giant circle with a pelican back .

Near this ship stood two elites with plasma rifles in hand. A woman in the group said "well they need more crew we need more ship let's go." The other marines walked over to the ship with Shawn but the girl sprinted ahead. That was Amy for you, too ready for combat. The Russian man stood tall not missing a step in his pattern of left, right, left, right. Harley should have gotten that promotion he was aiming for, before today. The old captain could never walk like Harley. Then the black man walked at ease, but a little jumpy when passing a running grunt. Considering Cole once was an O.D.S.T. no one could blame him for being jumpy, especially after the jump he made on a Halo Ring. Poor Cole couldn't leave his pod because a grunt soldered, with its pistol, the door shut. Ten minutes until his teammates got him out.

The standing elites saw Amy rush over, and didn't know how close she was did he rammed one of them. Amy started yelling at the elites to open the door. Shawn could only predict what the elites want to do at this moment. The hatch opened and Amy revved the engine up. Shawn, Cole, Harley and the two elites piled in. Four grunts jumped in as the door closed, each held a needler. The hanger door opened and the Crow lifted up, as did the pelicans. They all launched as one. UNSC looking fighters were also deployed, these with plasma guns, normal bombing missiles, and gravity thrusters. They all had a design of a giant blue shield on each wing. The body color of the fighters was purple. The fighters are named Guardians. Shawn's Crow lead the pelicans toward a Brute cruiser toward the back. Brute banshees launched. Shawn said over fleet-com "all Guardians engage the banshees. Kill all those monkey ass bastards." He got unison of "HORAYS" back.

From a back view in the Crow Shawn saw Blue Shield slowly glide into combat. It's large MAC gun fired with a plasma bolt enhancer increasing damage. It hit one of the Brutes. The cruiser burst into flames as the entire front melted away until only half of the ship was left to burn down and become a meteor. The two other ships charged up and fired their cannons. Two blue explosions erupted and engulfed Blue Shield in smoke. Shawn refocused forward. The Guardian were winning so he called one off to blow open the Brutes hanger door. The pelicans soared through the dark starlight sky. Pin point lasers fired at them. Plasma shields protected them. The Guardian fired two missiles and blew away the hanger doors. The boarding party landed down safely. Shawn looked back at Blue Shield , and saw that the kinetic plasma shield was a success. The shield dissipated though, it wasn't a bright yellow meaning full power, it was dim. One more hit and Blue Shield would be gone.

Everyone set the helms to airlock mode, were a layer of armor plating covers the mouth and for ten minutes provides air. Ten minutes though was hopefully enough. Shawn's team piled out of the Crow with the grunts. Elites had to wait in the ship until Air-shields were deployed, which provided everyone with air within the shields radius. The shields could cover at least a football field, alone with air for one day. The marines and grunts were now deploying these shields. All together, including the elites in the air-shields, there were ten marines, fifteen grunts, and ten elites. Nine grunts had special shields made of titanium plating. The shield was roughly has tall and wide as a grunt with a little bullet proof glass in the center so grunts could see their targets. Two marines with soldiering guns went to the door to seal it shut. "Ok everyone we need to take out this ship's cannon, you six" Shawn pointed to two elites, two marines, and two grunts, "find the controls." They nodded and left in a side door. "Everyone hold this position so they have a safe return." Shawn gathered Cole, Harley and Amy together.

"Shawn you sure you want to do this? Remember what happened to Captain Locks." Cole commented as the got together. Shawn remembered how their old captain died on a boarding raid like this one. Shawn, looking ay his vain, knew that couldn't and wouldn't happen to him. "I'm sure Cole, we have to get to their bridge now let's move." Shawn, Cole, Hanley, and Amy went to a side door opposite of the other team that left. As their door closed behind them a thump was heard. Shawn knew that this new army would survive. Shawn's team rushed through a large open storage room two stores high. Shawn halted his team, as their footsteps stopped larger stomping footsteps didn't. Shawn motioned everyone into a dark corner. Doors opened and a small flaking team of five brutes appeared. Each one held a spiker and slowly walked to the door Shawn's team came from.

Shawn and Cole leveled assault rifles, Hanley a sniper rifle, and Amy her twin smgs. The brutes were in the middle of the room when one of them dropped. The others were in panic. Hanley slowly cocked his rifle, he was doing his job. One looked at them and tried to focus his sight, peering forward. He dropped dead and the remaining three began to run. Shawn and Cole opened up killing off two and Amy ran in front of the last one and end it with two whole smg full auto clips. Shawn's team ran to a door heading to the middle of the ship. The regrouped in the halls and continued on. They went through four rooms, one empty and three had dead brutes scattered. A muffled explosion was heard and Shawn's COM crackled on. "Sir the cannon is offline." Shawn responded with "good work meet us in the bridge." "Copy that", the COM then dropped silent. Shawn's team was one door from the bridge, they approached carefully. They stepped in and were fired upon by all in the room.

The four of them moved to cover behind knocked over barrels. They all blind fired back except for Hanley, he tried to snipe by moving a little backward. He tapped down his trigger and missed. A beep of a door opening was heard. The squad Shawn sent out arrived and opened up. The Brutes panicked and fell back into a cover. Others stood to fight but quickly fell from the combined fire. In seconds they cleared the room. "Hanger teams you copy?" Shawn waited on the COM for a response and seconds later heard, "this is hanger defense we just finished up." "Good I've meet up with squad one and we are returning now" Shawn turned off his COM. They all walked back to the hanger's setting detonations as they went. When they arrived in the hanger hundreds of brutes lied dead on the ground with two dead marines and one elite.

A shield holding grunt greeted them, everyone else was backed away, and they went to their dropships. A loud explosion was heard and as the ships went back they saw Guardian fighters returning, successfully destroying the last Brute cruiser. "Sir all Guardian reporting in, no casualties. Returning to Blue Shield ." Shawn was pleased to hear that. He looked into the back of the crow, were the three dead bodies lied. He remembered how Kurt had trained his Spartan IIIs and how he wanted all of them alive at the end of a day. Shawn thought to himself "Great minds think alike."

The Cakm After The Storm
Date: 4 September 2007, 8:32 am

The Pelicans, Guardians, and Crow soared to Blue Shield as the main hanger opened. Standby crew waited for the hanger doors to close. As soon as they did the crew members rushed around, repairing damaged plates, recharging plasma shields, and carried away all damaged equipment and used air-shields. Refill for the shields took around a month, so it was estimated, and all damaged equipment would take a week. Shawn prayed no ship got too badly hit; those could take two months to repair. At the cost of all this technology came more time to be needed for its care. Shawn walked to the bridge, he was going to check location and give out a ship wide command.

Shawn stepped into an elevator and pressed the B-f button. The doors hissed open and showed the bridge, grunts and humans all at their stations. Sitting in the Captain's was Yutir, showing signs of relief that they made it. Shawn walked over and tapped him on the shoulder. "I need to check something, and then I need to give an announcement." Yutir nodded and stepped out off the chair and stepped to its side. Shawn went to the sensor's array, stars popped onto an image board in front of him and planets blinked in. Shawn clicked to the system were they should have exited and looked for their ship. He found it and zoomed in to see Blue Shield hanging over a red cloud planet.

Lines spread out from Blue Shield showing its stats, The K-P-S (Kinetic energy Plasma Shield) stats were blurring red. Those would be out for a few days, when given down time the shields recharged fast. The cannons were all green; those would have to fire ten shots a second to overheat. The slip space generators were yellow, turning green and the engines were at max power. With that out of the way Shawn flicked on the ships speakers. "We are currently hanging over the planet Mars and will drop down to the surface in twelve hours. All military personal lunch will be served in one hour. After military personal lunch break all non-military personal will get theirs." Shawn flicked off the speakers and heard a faint cheer throughout the ship.

Shawn looked at Yutir who still stood by the chair and said "I meant ALL military personal." Yutir said "Oh sorry si- I mean Shawn, your coming to correct?" "Of course, but we do have an hour to wait, so what do you want to do?" Yutir stood there thinking then said "I would like to hear of how the raid went." Shawn laughed and told Yutir of the attack on the ship as they walked down halls and stairs going to the "Grub Center" crude name but before Yutir's crew joined them they didn't have the excellent jackal and grunt chefs. None of the jackals were military personal though, so Shawn won't get the pleasure of meeting one with the marines and others.

By the time they got to Grub Center they were ten minutes late. They got their food and found a table. The sat down with the same team of soldiers Shawn sent out to take out fire control. There were also four Guardian pilots. They all shared their stories of the day's battles, and no one seemed to care whether someone was a human or not. It was perfect, just as Shawn had hoped it would be. After the first lunch break was done all the chefs came in to clean. They had already eaten some of the leftovers; they had fresh food baking anyway. Some marines even tried to stay, but were all shooed away. They all left laughing. Shawn went down to his cabin; Yutir had arranged a cabin order with name tags on each door so everyone knew were to go. Shawn was now sharing a room with Yutir and someone named Likura. Shawn entered his room, now three beds, one in each corner and a square table attached to the last corner with three chairs around it. Shawn's laptop still was next to his bed. He pulled it down and looked at a smaller version of what he saw in the bridge.

He gazed and the many stars, remembering how as a kid stars was what he thought brought peace to humans and aliens, unknowing of the war. Yet still he still thought that if everyone stopped to gaze at the stars there would be peace, if not with one another like on Blue Shield, then at least peace in the heart and soul. Shawn brought up a blank image file, he was thinking of a design for medals on the ship. There was enough spare steel in the "Junk Trunk" to make a medal for everyone and still have some. Exactly what he was thinking. Shawn got sparked with an idea and drew it.

He finished and waited for Yutir or Likura to come in, let him run it by them. They both arrived together. Next to Yutir stood a young tan female human with long brown hair in a sergeant's uniform. Shawn wondered why Yutir assigned her here, but that wasn't important. "Hello Likura, I'm Shawn I take it you already know Yutir?" Smiling Likura said "Yup, helped him decided who went were." Shawn got an answer to one question, but got another question in turn. Shawn blinked it off and said "what do you think of this for a medal?" The two walked over and looked at the laptop and then Yutir said "perfect."

Shawn smiled and typed into the laptop's keyboard an order for one thousand and twenty five medals to be made. Spare staff replied with an ok. S.E.B. turned on and said "why didn't you ask for my option?" Shawn looked at him and said "what don't like it?" S.E.B. shook his head saying "no it's fine just, why don't I get one?" Shawn starred at S.E.B. than said finally "can't you make your own?" On S.E.B.'s shirt popped on one of the medals then said "your point?" Shawn groaned and S.E.B. shrugged, and blinked off.

Two hours passed until a knock came to the door. Their stood a jackal and held out a medal. Shawn nodded and waved Yutir and Likura to follow. As they walked the jackal whispered to Shawn "four more hours till we land?" Shawn checked his timer and nodded. The four entered into a large room, the "Grand Gathering Gallery", and walked onto a stage. On the stage were all the soldiers, and pilots, that were in the attack. Behind them was a frame of Blue Shield with little screen shots, taken via ship cam or helmet H.U.D., of the battle.

There were three dozen spare staff members holding cushioned medal box holders. Each one held five of the custom medals, and Shawn smiled and he walked a center stand while Likura filed into the long line and a jackal told Yutir to stand next to the stand. Shawn noted a piece of paper next to a medal placed on the stand saying "make a speech, go down the line properly giving away the medals, then talk about Yutir's aid and give him this special golden one. The entire ship's crew was in the room, off stage of course. Shawn walked up to the stand, looked around and breathed in, then out, and started.

"Today these men, human and alien, showed their courage on the battle lines. Together they took down two cruisers poised to destroy us. Let us congratulate the men now, with this medal." Shawn held up a steel medal that was shaped to look like a human wearing an elite's honor helmet as a blue line seems to circle the medal. "This medal shows the unity of Human, Elite, Grunt, and Jackal all on one ship working for the betterment of one another. Now first one to receive this medal…" and Shawn handed out each medal to everyone on the stage after saying their name. After he was done he walked back to the stand a in his hand held the golden medal. "Many days have a looked to the skies wishing for peace, so many days all seemed hopeless. Yutir, you gave these men peace, these men are given hope all simply done by laying down your weapons. I hope that more of the Covenant do as what Yutir has done, and then together we can form a peaceful universe. May this medal show now and always that you were a peace bringer, if only on this ship." Shawn placed the medal on Yutir and gave a salute. After everyone filed out Shawn gave each of the spare crew medals.

After they had their medals Shawn got the three dead their own rooms, specially built and placed medals on them. They dead soldier's personal items were also place in the rooms. Shawn then went door to door on each cabin handing out the awards. They finished ten minutes before they went planet side. Shawn went to his cabin, Yutir and Likura asleep and went to sleep to. As the Ship glided down towards Mars, Shawn's veins glowed, but he wasn't bothered by it, he was asleep.
