HALO: RAINFOREST WARS CHAPTER 1-CHAPTER 2 PART 1
Date: 9 February 2007, 1:20 am

2161AD 1300HOURS SOUTH AMERICA/ EQUADOR/ AREA UNKNOWN

Our bodies moved through the fallen town like a pack of wolves. Each of us covering one another. Guns at the ready and eyes peeled.
We were apart of Beta II Company. Our mission for right now was to neutralize and more neo-communist factions around the area. And we got word from our squad leader there was a small nuclear base just north west of our position a few miles ahead.
The COM link came to life as I heard me squad leader talk.
" Men you have the go, move ahead, we got your back covered." Captain Marshal said as my squad moved into position. Something didn't feel right. The way he said " we got you covered" made me feel just the opposite. I shooting pain I felt, came into my right shoulder. I didn't feel it at first but then I looked at it, blood. I dropped to the ground from the shock of it all.
" Squad leader we need assistance, ambush!" Lieutenant Lewis screamed through his COM. My squad dove for cover behind: beat up cars and houses. Me? I was on the ground in the middle of it all. I tried to yell medic but I doubted anyone heard me from all the close range gunfire.
I turned to my side looking at all the blood running out. I knew if I moved any part of my body I would be an easy target. Just as my gaze was about to turn away from my shoulder I felt a jerk on my clothing. It was Lewis. He was dragging me to safety. The rest of the squad covered him as he set my up against a wall.
" Wilson you still with me?" Lewis asked me.
" I'm…fine… just get a medic over hear." I said barley able to keep myself from collapsing. A medic was already treating me. I was surprised to see he wasn't taking out the normal medical supplies.
" Sir what I'm about to give you is a new type of medicine. I will inject you with this cylinder; cooling foam will fill the wound temporarily. You will only feel a slight sting and then you'll be able to fight again." The medic said this with confidence. I nodded and he took the cylinder and stuck it in my wound. I stinging sensation ran through my chest. My eyes widened with slight pain.
My senses came to and I was ready to fight. Marshal gave the orders to four other men and me. We were to flank the enemy. We got up and started to move along side the building. Before we turned the corner we checked ammo. I gave the order to pull the flash bang grenades. Everyone had their goggles on as the grenades flew into the air and exploded with a blinding light.
I squeezed the trigger of my assault rifle along with the rest of my men. I could hear the satisfying sound of lead hitting flesh. As we moved into position so did the rest of Beta II Company. The enemy soon fell with ease and minor injuries. No we still had to make it to the arms base.

2161 1300HOURS SOUTH AMERICA BRAZIL/ SAN JOSE HOTEL 21 FLOOR

"Sasha the UN is making there towards our position. The satellite has picked up on four companies of soldiers crawling all over the area. We can't afford them to capture you." I heard one of the soldiers say to our commander. He nodded his head, understanding the situation. But he just sat there in his chair smoking a fine Cuban cigar as though nothing were going on.
" I understand the situation, but they will never get their hands on me as long as I have the launch codes." Commander Sasha said this with confidence. He turned his attention towards a monitor relaying satellite imagery of the battle going on around him.
" Bah! Look at my men done there, getting killed by these bastards. We launch the warhead today! I cannot and will not watch this! Vladimir will be pleased." Commander Sasha said and then looked towards me. " What the hell are you looking at shouldn't you be doing something?"
" Commander, what I'm doing is protecting you." I said, feeling like crap. He was about to say something but then stopped, realizing I was right.
I knew the days ahead would be the longest days of my life and the ones that could kill me.
