This is the story version of the E3 demo. It will only go up to the part where MC gets the Ghost, as on my computer freezes up after that.
The structure in the center New Mombasa towered so high, the Chief's visor darkened considerably in order to see the top against the rising sun. Plasma flak fired from Covenant Anti-Air (AA) cannons exploded in mid-air, trying to keep the skies clean of Marine reinforcements. Giant blue plasma balls sailed lazily through the air. The Chief didn't know what kind of weapon had expelled them, and the thought kind of scared him a little. It was amazing how bolts of such a beautiful shade of blue could turn out to be so nasty. Even in its majestic beauty, however, the city was under attack. And he couldn't waste time on sightseeing while valiant Marines were dying down below. The Chief looked around the interior of the Pelican. The pilot and co-pilot sat in their comfortable chairs. Sergean Johnson, one of the Chief's good friends, leaned against the pilot's chair and looked out the cockpit window. Three ODSTs sat in the small seats and suited up for battle. They slapped fresh clips into their battle rifles and put on their helmets. With full armor, they looked almost as alien as the Chief. The Chief looked out the drop door. Clouds of smoke and battle-ruined buildings raced by down on the ground. The gunner occasionally fired a burst at Covenant warriors standing on top of buildings they had captured. Cortana's voice suddenly appeared. "It took two in the nose and then dropped down into the atmosphere." she said. The Chief wasn't really sure what she was talking about until his eyes fell back on the giant building in the middle of the city. Upon closer inspection, he realized it maintained a rough shape of a Cvenant cruiser. He thought he knew what she was talking about now. "Who was first contact?" the Chief asked the soldiers inside. "Airborne fifth under Diego Garcial." Johnson replied. "But don't expect a big welcome," he added, "the Covies wiped most of 'em out before they hit the ground." The dropship turned sideways and began descending into the clouds towards the city. A radio conversation snapped onto the COM of the dropship. "Immediately, Great Kilo 2-3 is hot. Recommend mission abort." said the first voice with explosions in the background. "Roger that, recon." said a second, the background was calm in this one, giving a hit that Marine forces were spread out through the city. The co-pilot of the Pelican hit a few buttons on the control board. The dropship shook slightly as plasma flak exploded near it. "Your call Sarge," said the pilot as he experlty weaved through a cluster of plasma flak explosions. Johnson thought for a split-second before pointing at a small Marine encampment on top of a building and saying, "We're goin' in. Get tactical Marines!" Covenant forces own this city. We'll have to deal with them before we can kill that cruiser." Cortana's smooth voice was projected over the public COM. The pilot hit the airbrakes for a second to let a giant blue plasma bolt sail past before hitting the accelerator again. The Pelican flew over to the building that the Marine encampment was on and hovered over it. The co-pilot again hit sme buttons and pulled a lever and the dropship began sinking to the ground. It rumbled as the landing gear extended and touched down on the landing pad. The Chief looked out the drop doors. Bloodstains were spattered all over the walls and pockmarks indicated where a firefight had taken place. There were also a few Grunt bodies lying around and getting cleaned up. Bright orange stretchers were layed out on the ground with wounded Marines on them. Medics bent over the Marines, patching their various wounds. A lone Marine shielded his eyes from the hover thrusters of the Pelican. The three ODSTs hopped out of the dropship followed by the Chief. "I'll evac the wounded." Johnson's gruff voice was projected over the COM. The Chief approached the Marine that was shielding his eyes. He stood at attention and said, "Sir, Corporal Perez, A company. CP's this way, cummon, I'll show you." he leveled his battle rifle and began running down a ramp. The Chief followed, attracting eyes as he went. "Look! A Spartan!" one of the wounded Marines said. "Yeah, guess the Brass do give a shit." replied another. The Cheif followed Perez down the ramp, pausing briefly to let a two-man patrol run by. Perez stopped by a large bloodstain on the wall. "We dropped in here about 1900. The Lietenant got hit as soon as we dropped in." "Who's in charge now, Corporal?" Cortana said. "Sergeant Banks, ma'am. Uhh, he's pinned down up front, come on follow me, I'll show you." Perez ran into a dark tunnel and up a flight of steps. Gunshots, screams, and expplosions could b heard from here. They must be getting closer to the fighting. A chaingun mounted on a tripod was sticking out of a hole in the wall manned by a Marine and a spotter. They yelled at each other as he passed. "No, no! Behind that ST!" the spotter shouted, firing a battle rifle. "Yeah, yeah, I'm runnin' low, man!" the gunner yelled over the thundering of the chaingun. The Chief followed Perez to a large threshold in the wall. It opened to a thick balcony-type ledge. A wall was across from the doorway. A Marine sat against it. Perez peeked out from behind the doorway. "Hey Parsons!" he yelled over the now almost deafening thunder of battle rifles and explosions. "Yeah!?" yelled the seated Marine. "Izzit clear?!" Perez yelled just as an explosion ripped through the wall Parsons was seated at. The explosion tore a chunk out of the wall, sending debris everywhere. Parsons managed to jump out of the way before the debris was spewed through the air. "You tell me!" he said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. Perez mumbled for a second and then, seeing the approaching ODSTs, yelled, "Friendlies movin' out! Covering fire!" he ran out to a spot on the balcony-ledge where the wall ended and gave way to the sight of a blood-spattered highway filled with gutted cars and Grunt and Jackal bodies. A few Marines were pinned down where the balcony curved around the building and met with the ground. But the explosion was what made the Chief look up. There, seated on top of a building, was a giant purple cannon spewing out the plasma bolts that hd been flying through the air when he had landed. There was nothing he could do about it, and zoomed in on a cluster of Grunts down below. He fired. One of the Grunts fell from a headshot. The other three, seeing the new enemy, opend fire. Green plasma flared the Chief's shields and burned the walls. The ODSTs ran to the Chief's side and fired. Two of the three Grunts fell. The other one began running away but was cut down by the Marines pinned down on the other side of the balcony. He ran down the balcony to a spot where a ramp led down to a lower piece of the balcony. "Grunts. Down low." said one of the ODSTs into the COM, and fired. The Chief ran past the three ODSTs and chucked a grenade into a small patch of Grunts, blowing them all to pieces. They ran down the ramp where Perez showed the Chief Banks, who was sitting against a wall in a large blood spatter holding his side. Perez and the three ODSTs took up positions with the two remaining Marines of the original group that had been posted here. The Chief crouched and walked over to Banks. "When we askked for reinforcements, I didn't think they'd send a Spartan." he said, obviously in pain. The Chief looked up to see the Covenant artillery cannon fire a shot that smashed into the balcony he had just been on. "Uhh, we gotta take that thing out! Cover me!" Banks yelled and slowly crawled to an open part of the wall where had a signal with the radio but was shielded from the repeating Covenant energy weapons. "Tech HQ, this is Sergeant Banks! I've got hostile artillery 200 meters north/northeast of my position! Green smoke! Over!" he yelled into the radio tossing a smoke grenade into the street below. The Chief quickly shot the Grunts occupying the street and aimed at the Jackals now forming along an alley. He took three of the out before he realized there were too many and manned the mounted chaingun. He quickly fired several bursts, killing a clutch of Grunts and three Jackals. "Hostiles, right!" Perez yelled into the COM. The Chief looked to the right to see a Jackal and three Grunts running at them. He opened fire with the chaingun and slaughtered the four of them. "Dammit HQ! Is anybody on this rig!?" yelled Banks in a worried voice, obviously wanting the Covenant Siege Artllery cannon taken out as soon as possible. "Sergeant, this Major Easley. Hang tight. We;re inbound." said a smooth voice over the COM. Just as they finished talking, two Longswords flew overhead and dropped about a dozen bombs on the CSAC. It exploded in a shower of hot metal. The Chief ran down the ramp onto the road, followed by the ODSTs. He looked back. Perez , Banks, and the two other Marines were limping back to the LZ. The Chief ran into an alley where he was greeted by a division of Jackals and Grunts. He saw the ODSTs rake cover behind the opposite wall. "Frag and clear!" one of them yelled, throwing a grenade into the alley. There was an explosion and The bastards flew out of the alley. The ODSTs, having sustained many wounds, fell back to the LZ. The Chef continued on. He walked up a ramp created by a fallen piece of metal. He got to the top to be greeted by a small line of Jackals and a Creep Covenant transport. The Chief fired at them but couldn;t score any kills as two Warthogs came ripping down the road and smashed into the Jackals, killing all of them. One of them kept on driving while the other stopped. "We could use a gunner, sir!" the driver shouted. The Chief jumped off the ramp and onto the gunner platform of the Warthog. He was happy to see he was mannin a plasma gauss canon, which used stolen technology. The driver hit the gas and the Warthog leapt forward. The Creep began to retreat into a small parking building but the Chief hit it repeatedly with plasma, which blew it to smithereens. The driver drove up the street, where two Ghosts came at them. The Chief hit one and it exploded in a shower of warm meant, which fried on the Chief's shields and put a smell of burned chicken into the Chief's helmet. The second was hit by the second Warthog, which suddenly burst out from a side road and hammered it with the LAAG. It exploded also. A giant purple craft flew overhead. "A Phantom!" Cortana said. "Woah, gotta get away from that thing!" yelled the driver, swerving to drive down a sideroad, followed by the other Warthog. They got to a large city square where a THIRD Warthog, this one also sporting a LAAG, ripped into a clust of Grunts. The Phantome flew over. "Brutes!" shouted Cortana. Sure enough, Brutes began to fall from the Phantoms. The Chief was suddenly struck with horror as a Brute landed on the windshield of the Warthog and with two swift strokes, killed the driver and the passenger. The Chief dove off the platform and shot the Brute repeatedly. He then turned around to see the second and third Warthogs suffer the same fate. He shot a car, which exploded and killed the large aliens. "Ghosts, to your right!" Cortana yelled. The Chief turned to see a Ghost coming at him. He quickly jumped on it, kicking the Brute driver off, and hijacking it. He turned it around and killed the remaining Brutes before turning his attention to the low-flying Phantom. "Those Marines won't stand a chance if those Phantoms make it through!" Cortana said. The Chief took off, hitting a Brute in the chest and breaking its ribs. He flew down towards a tunnel followed closely by two Phantoms and a column of Ghosts...
