Halo 5 Mythic Difficulty Guide - MISSION 10: Enemy Lines

The Tru7h About Enemy Lines

Rating: Easy

Type: Covenant-Heavy

Much like the previous mission, your time spent here will be on the rocky, sandy lands of Sanghelios. The main difference? Not only is the mission significantly easier, but the vehicle section is also fun and exhilarating rather than being drab and frustrating. Yay! On your hunt to destroy the titan-like Covenant Kraken, you'll be able to speedrun much of this mission in a Ghost, and it won't really slow down for you until the tail end of the mission when the Prometheans decide to drop in and say hello. And while navigating the Kraken's interior can be frustrating if your not sure where to go, I personally find this mission to be quite exciting and fun. So let's get to it!

Joint Operations

Run and gun is the name of the game here. At least for the majority of the mission. Be quick and know your targets. As soon as you have control, begin sprinting across the river and into the ruins straight ahead. Hug the right wall and boost up the stone incline to avoid the Grunts and Elite in the room. Then slide on out the door.

The massive Covenant Kraken will be smashing the landscape up ahead to pieces. Fortunately if you get too close the game will give you a small quicktime event rather than have the Kraken crush you mercilessly. Run to the ledge and to the left around the hill. You'll notice across the chasm there is a small bridge structure up ahead. Jump across the chasm and run under the bridge. Stop momentarily to notice the Grunts and Plasma Cannon guarding the Covenant Shield barrier up the small hill in front of you. Toss a Frag Grenade at the Cannon and use the Grunts startled confusion to your advantage. Run to the right side and around the solid barriers the Covenant have installed. Next, using jump and clamber, make your way up and over the shield barrier (yes, they're SO effective...) and treat yourself to one of the four Ghosts down below.

Things are going to move even faster during this segment. Speed the Ghost forward while avoid the Kraken off to your right. Up ahead, a Ghost will begin barreling towards you. Avoid it, but slow down enough so as to not get caught by the group of Suicide Grunts charging in from behind. Drive right on past them and into the structure ahead. Stop momentarily to pick up the four Plasma Grenades and switch to them. You'll need them later. Hop back in the Ghost and start making your way through the structure itself. Getting over both ledges here can be tough and tedious, but it's extremely doable. Just be patient. You'll need that Ghost for the next section.

After clearing the structure, you'll come to a immensely large area with a giant structure in the middle and a shield barrier blocking your exit on the opposite side. Sadly, unlike the first shield barrier, you can't simply jump it. Apparently the Covenant are starting to learn from their mistakes. Better late than never I suppose. Fortunately there's still a rather simple solution. Without actually exiting the structure itself (so as to not trigger more enemies to spawn), switch to your Magnum, zoom in on the shield, and empty every clip you have into it. If you haven't fired a single shot yet in the mission, you should be able to permanently bring the shield down with one or two bullets to spare. Hop back in the Ghost, and begin boosting towards the right side of the structure, right by all of the enemies, drive all the way down, and when you reach the end of the road, make a sharp left. Race past the structure and up the hill on the right. Then veer around the rocks, and the entrance to the building should be up ahead and to the left. Easy!

Inside the building you'll need to clamber up on top of one of the broken columns and jump to the platform in the center of the room. There's a small Sangheli statue that you'll need to activate in order for the door on the opposite side of the room to open for you. Once you do, hop back into the Ghost, head up the stares and through the door where two Soldiers will immediately panic and start phase-jumping to the Phaetons outside. That's right. The Prometheans are back... If you're fast, you can run over both of them and collect their Light Rifles for future use. Until then, it's time to destroy the Covenant Kraken that has now "parked" within the confines of the canyon.

Instruct your allies to commandeer their own respective Phaetons and you do the same. Focus on the left leg of the Kraken closest to you. There will be a Grunt in a turret just above the joint. Use your Phaeton's heavy weapons to destroy the turret and Grunt, land the Phaeton on top of the Kraken's leg, and head inside. While I know navigating the Kraken can seem a bit confusing, I'm going to give you the most direct in and out method you can take. Once you're inside, head down the green tinted ramp on the left. Then take a sharp right and you'll see the glowing blue core of the colossal machine. This is where your Plasma Grenades come in hand. One grenade. That's all it takes. Stick one grenade to the power core, then immediately do a 180 and head back up the ramp. This time, however, instead of going the way you came, head right. There will be an Elite there, but you should just be able to run past him. Head up the next ramp on the right which will take you to a platform piled with Banshees. Pick one, and the Kraken's doors should open allowing you a fast an easy escape along with a clear view of your destination.

The large, circular door will more or less evaporate, allowing you to fly through. You'll need to sit there a minute while the Kraken explodes and collapses, so you might as well turn around and admire your handy work. However, the Forerunners are pretty finicky when it comes to trespassers, so the Banshees will be evaporated, and you'll be forced to fight out the battle ahead on foot. It is worth noting here, however, that it's entirely possible to park a spare Phaeton on the very ledge of the platform you're currently on, have it avoid the "cleansing", and use it to fight the battle inside. Reason I recommend against it? Because Promethean Soldiers will be making up most of that encounter and have a bottomless sack of Splinter Grenades to assist them. So going on foot in this scenarios is actually safer.

Enter the structure and treat yourself to a moment of silence. The calm before the storm if you will. The scenario won't kick off until after you've freed the Sentinel Constructor on the far side of the room, so feel free to take your time and gather your barrings. There are plenty of Promethean weapon crates here for you to use. You know the drill at this point. If you didn't pick up a Light Rifle from earlier, now is the time to do it. Also, keep the Battle Rifle as your secondary piece. Instruct your team to arm themselves with Suppressors, and you should be ready to kick things off.

Head to the back of the room and activate the panel to release the Constructor. Now is the time to make like a chameleon and vanish! You'll notice the ledges that trace around the room above you. Make a run for the ledge in the back right corner of the room. Jump and clamber up, and hide in the corner. This will give you just enough cover to keep yourself from being in the Prometheans' line of sight while also giving you opportunities to pop out and highlight targets for your allies and even shoot a few Prometheans yourself!

Prometheans will immediately spawn in and overwhelm the room. Keep your allies towards the back not far from you and paint targets one by one for them to zero in on and destroy. By now you should have noticed that there are two platforms in the center of the room. Your goal right now is to focus on the Soldiers dominating the back platform since both sets of enemies tend to hover around their own respective locations. When you've cleared the platform closest to you, focus on the two Watchers flying around towards the front of the room. Once they've met their maker, it's now safe to step down and gather weapons and ammo from the fallen Soldiers.

Remaining on the other side of the room will be Soldier Captains carrying detached Splinter Turrets and a pair of basic Promethean Knights armed with mere Scattershots. Snipe the Soldiers with your Light Rifle while instructing your allies to attack the Knights one at a time. If you'd like, you can also make use of the Incineration Cannon below the platform to finish off the Knights. Even on Mythic it's still highly effective. Otherwise, just go the tradition route of shooting their weak spot beneath their arms, wait for them to briefly open their protective masks, and quite literally go for the gold. Now you can take a deep breath and head back outside for the Phantom to pick you up.

Enjoy this victory, Spartan. The next mission won't be so kind to you.
