Oh, damn. I didn’t notice that the Covenant races weren’t really called Jackals Elites and Grunts. Oh well, I can fix it later. Anyway thanks for the comment. I should have the next part up by Friday. Anyone else feel like giving me a comment?

I like the concept. New covenant weapons, aye? Neat-o.
This story was very well-written and good; enjoyable. I like the depth into the culture of the Covenant. The idea of Elites and Brutes having some racial issue between them is a very thoughtful one. They both are races assigned to military castes, and they feel offended by each other.
Otherwise, I want to say that there is one thing that you did wrong. Elites don't call themselves elites, and jackals don't call themselves jackals. Those are names that humans gave them.
I can see Brutes being a nickname that Elites give them, maybe they see them as barbarians given high-tech weapons. Prophets are actually called 'Prophets' in the Covenant-tongue. And, Covenants DO call humans 'humans'.
You may have ignored this for a reason, but I say to just keep it in mind. It already might be too late to do anything.
