A secret base on Basis? Wait until Halo 2, you might be right on.
As for the rest of the story, I think you rushed it. Slow the story down and let the story unfold for the reader. You could have written seven stories with all the information you skimmed though in this one story.
Well, don't get discouraged though, the writing style was sort of cool. It reminded me of those old classics like Flash Gordon where a whole summary of the previous episode was made to catch everyone up to the cliff hanger. All we need is a cereal comercial to set the mode right.

I'm a little confused about this, see, Halo wasn't found at that time. And they were on the Piller of Autumn when they found Halo. I really like it would like it if you stick to the ornginal Halo timeline. But you are off to a good start. And, it is off to a good start, so keep it up.
