(Note: this story has nothing to do with the covenant, the spartans or anything else that took place in or around 2500. The story is about pre-outer solar system human history, as recorded in the human timeline on this site.)
Washington D.C. Earth February 7, 2160 18:13 Hours
General Marcus Admarand of the United Nations Colonial Advisors (UNCA) made his way to the Oval Office. He was on his way to meet with President Nicholas Schwimmer. He approached the doors, straightened out his uniform, and entered. "Good morning, sir."said Marcus as he saluted the President. "Please be seated, General. I assume you know why you are here." 'Sir, you brought me here to discuss how we are to handle the Frieden movement on Jovia." The president responded, "As usual, general, you are correct. This movement is becoming increasingly hostile, going as far as kidnapping and executing top officials of the UNCA. They demand that we take action now to stop yet another movement, the Koslovic movement. As far as I'm concerned, we're not dealing with a movement anymore. We're dealing with a terrorist organization." "Sir, I suggest that we put a heavier military presence in and around the colony. That way, if they attack, we can strike them down quicker than we did Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto." "Well, General, the Marines haven't been deployed that far. Jovia can use it's own army. I for one am not going to send my men out to fight for a colony they don't even live in. I'm sorry, but your suggestion has been denied.'
Hikapar City Io Jovia March 13, 2160 23:18 Hours
Ensign Mark Patterson gripped his gun tightly as he saw a truck pass by the UNCA Alpha Base for the fifth time. "Hey sir", called out Patterson, "that vehicle has made five trips around the complex. I think we should stop it and redirect it." Sergeant Ken Gorgan nodded and called in the situation. "This is Sergeant Gorgan from Security Outpost 4. We have a suspicious vehicle that has been circling the complex multiple times. Requesting permission to question driver. Over." The response was almost instantaneous. "Permission granted." As the truck drove by for the sixth time, Ensign Patterson approached the driver's side. He motioned for it to pull over. It did so. He tapped on the tinted window. It rolled down and Patterson asked "Sir, license and registration please." The man reached into his jacket and pulled out a magnum. Before Patterson could react, the man blew half of his face away.
Ken heard a loud bang and saw Patterson slump to the ground, a huge whole replacing his mouth and nose. "Man down! Man down!" yelled Ken into his radio, and then he fired his GO3-Q (a descendant of the M4 with auto zoom, thermal and motion sensors, and grenade launcher) at the truck. As shredder rounds ate away at the back compartment, the truck backed up, and faced Ken. As Ken fired his gun at the windshield, the driver accelerated, allowing the truck to careen right into Ken. After impacting Ken, it rammed through the gates of the complex and exploded with the force of a ten-megaton bomb. The entire complex was destroyed.
Dropship Inbound Towards Drop Zone Above Frieden Terrorist Camp 89 Miles West of Hikapar City March 17, 2160 01:09 Hours After the attack on UNCA Alpha Base, a video recording of Frieden leader Giovanni Aloyatti appeared on vids and holos all over the solar system. "The attack on the UNCA was regrettably necessary. Until they decide to stop the Koslovics, we will not stop our attacks." Aloyatti, whose last known location was on the Erusian continent on Mars, had made his point perfectly clear. But the UNCA would still not take affirmative action against the Koslovics until they became hostile.
In response to the attack on UNCA Alpha Base, the UNCA sent in the BlackOps group Unified Victory to take out a known Frieden stronghold. As the dropship neared 14,000 feet above the base, Private First Class John Frederickson rechecked his gear. One GO3-Q rifle, eleven fragmentation grenades, five flashbangs, three C-4 charges, and a Tactical Operations Uplink Helmet (TOUH). The TOUH was a new kind of helmet that just passed field-testing. The helmet was a standard mold, meaning it didn't cover your face. But it did cover the rest of your head with .5 inch armor plating. It also featured two mikes, each on either side of your mouth, but no sticking out like all other helmets. It also featured a Mission Record Log Recorder (MRLR). The MRLR recorded your mission, but the quality was horrible. You couldn't make out faces or anything written down unless you directly uploaded it to it. The last feature was that the MRLR featured a direct uplink to recon satellites over the area. Frederickson also had on the standard armor on. .4 inch iron plating on almost every part of his body except his feet, hands, and sides (of his torso).
"Alright, we're currently at 14,000 feet. Grab your gear and jump."squawked in the pilot over the com. Frederickson strapped on his parachute, and held on to the metal gratings over head. As the back of the dropship split open, the air blew in so hard John almost lost his grip. He made his way to the very end of the ship and let go. As he free fell towards the surface, he looked down at the area he was jumping into. It was very secluded, nestled in between a mountain and a lake. It was inside a forest. A huge airstrip for the dropships stretched out of the forest for at least a thousand feet. The objective of the mission was to plant three remote beacons around the camp to signal in the bombers. The secondary objective was to gather as much intel as possible. As he neared 6,500 feet, he pulled the ripcord and set the chute free.
01:23 Hours
After the team landed and regrouped, they started their trek towards the camp. Sergeant Gabriel Mendoza watched their six, while Frederickson led the squad through the dense forest. After about nine minutes of continuos walking, John's motion tracker detected four hostiles thirty meters away. He held up his fist, signaling for them to stop. He brought up his GO3-Q, activated the thermal scope, and took aim at the nearest hostile. A crack resounded through the air as the bullet penetrated the enemy's diaphragm, causing him to choke to death in his own blood. The remaining three, now aware of the squads' presence, raised their guns and fired. But by that time, the squad had already relocated, and fired a round into the man's chest. One of them attempted to call it in, but was interrupted as a frag blew his body to fleshy ribbons. The last man attempted to run, and was rewarded with a bullet to the head. The group reformed their circle and continued on.
Adolfo Rosana swore he heard gunshots as he made his routine patrol around the camp. He switched his gun's fire mode to auto and gripped it tightly. Something was out there. He was sure of it. As he kept walking, he heard a twig snap. He looked to where the sound originated, but found nothing. He then resumed his course. The last thing he ever heard was the snapping of his own neck.
The team had made it just outside he camp. They sat high on a tree, scoping out the place. "Alright", reported the Sarge, "we've got a shit load of men down there. Try not to arouse too much attention. I've counted fifteen machine gun turrets but there's bound to be more. Be prepared for anything. Alright, let's move out." They quietly climbed down the spruce tree and took on the prone position. Only one member stayed in the tree, their sniper, Corporal James Emmanuel.
The squad quietly made their way to the nearest structure, a bunker of some sort. As soon as they reached it, they put their backs against it, loaded a frag into the launcher on their guns, and moved out. John spotted a group of five men standing around with their guns resting on their shoulders. One of them was wearing an ammo belt Poncho Villa style. John couldn't afford to shoot at them, because they were practically underneath one of the turrets. He brought his snuck back to the bunker and checked the other side. All clear, except that if they tried to cross the area, they had a huge chance of being spotted. The nearest building was three hundred yards away. They needed a distraction. Frederickson keyed his mike and said "Black Cobra to Eagle Sight. Come in Eagle Sight. Over." 'This is Eagle Sight, Black Cobra. What's the problem?" "We need a distraction. Do you see any explosive containers?" James replied, "Yea. Want me to put on a fireworks display?" "Sure do."replied John. The explosion came almost immediately. The five men and the man on the turret all turned to face the explosion. This was their chance. Crouch running, they made their way to the other building. But it wasn't all clear. When they arrived, they came face to face with a guard dog.
Before the dog could even open it's mouth, John knocked it over the head with his GO3-Q. It slumped to the floor, unconscious. "That was close."whispered Lance Corporal J.T. Everett. John then noticed that the building was a hangar for their dropships. He placed one remote beacon on the wall and activated it.
After about fifteen minutes of having infiltrated the camp, they arrived at what looked like the main computer access terminal. Of course, it was heavily guarded. Three manned turrets, fifteen footsoldiers, and one Puma (a Warthog type vehicle). They needed to get in there to gather intel. But it was going to alert the whole camp when they did so. Oh well. Orders were orders. The biggest threat was the Puma. J.T. raised his rifle and fired the grenade directly at the front. The grenade impacted the front, causing the Puma to explode and fly through the air, flipping end over end before crashing into a group of soldiers too stupid to move out of the way. The three turrets veered toward them and opened fire. Sergeant Mendoza was shot 34 times before falling to the ground. As the constant rata-tat-tata of the turrets went off, the men surrounding the terminal also attacked, but not as efficiently. J.T. loaded up another grenade, took aim and recited a famous line from an old movie, "Say 'ello to my little friend!" Seven of the men were thrown upward and came crashing down, breaking whatever bones were still intact. The other men started to fall back, as the turrets quickly made their way to J.T. The shots severed his right arm. As he fell, John pulled him back to avoid further shots. He then fired a grenade at a turret. Pieces of it came raining down on the nearest turret, and a long piece of metal impaled the man operating it in the head. John then opened up on the last turret, killing the man.
Now more reinforcements kept pouring in. John raised his arms up in the air and dropped his weapon. The Friedens thought he was surrendering, but what he was actually doing was signaling for James to fire. The first crack came, and one of the men fell. The others turned, and one by one they all fell. John scooped up his weapon and fired upon the other soldiers. "This is Eagle Sight. You have four Spider tanks currently inbound. ETA four minutes." Four minutes wasn't enough time to gather intel, but he would try. "Hey, Abe, c'mon, go inside and download as much as you can, as fast as you can!" Abraham Zirgucese ran inside, attached his PDA to the main terminal, and started downloading. "I need at least five minutes to get everything. Try to buy me that time."yelled Abraham. "Shit. Alright, I'll try, but I ain't makin' any promises!"screamed John. Three minutes had gone by, and already John could hear the tanks moving in. He knew he was screwed. The first tank turned the corner.
