* Note to author of "On a Red Horse" * I swear I did not copy your story. I got the idea for 500 year old music from the level 343 Guilty Spark. I use Delta Force because they are the best of the best, without being cyborgs or spartans. lil Cruz, the SMG, comes from a gangster movie i saw two weeks before i wrote Death's Angels. As for the main character being a commander, and the Delta Force seal, WHAT THE @#$%&!? ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? on to the story. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- BAM! BAM! The Elite staggered. BAM! BAM! BAM! Blood sprayed the walls. BAM! Thud. The Elite fell to the ground. "Follow me!" yelled a Marine from down the hallway. " I found a way out! " A way out. Specter had been trapped in this building for hours. If he stayed, he would almost certainly be killed. " "Cmon! before more Covenant find us"
As if to finalize the thought, a plasma grenade came soaring through the air and landed on the Marine's chest "OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD GET IT OFF ME!!!!" Too late. The Marine exploded in a purple cloud, blowing a hole in the wall. Specter turned to see where the grenade came from. Two Special Ops Elites were standing at the other end of the hallway. They raised their guns.
It was over, the only way out was a ten story leap to the ground, and if he stayed the Elites would kill him anyway. He looked at the hole in the wall. "What the hell?" he thought. Specter sprinted to the opening. The Elites looked at Specter as if he was crazy, he would certainly die in the fall. One screamed not to let him get away, but it was already to late.
Specter leaped through the opening and saw the ground below. Time seemed to slow down. He opened his mouth to say "Holy Shit!" but no words came. Specter thought. " Maybe I wont die, I mean, this IS bio-enhancing armor" He thought. "I can run faster, jump higher, why couldn't I survive this?" Specter didn't have much time to think.
Specter fell onto the hard pavement and rolled. He rolled into a mud puddle. Face Down."Shit!" He said, half conciesly. "I'm lying in a pile of shit!" He rolled over and inspected himself, he didn't seem to be hurt bad, the bio-armor had really done it's work. He started to get up. "AGHH!" He felt a sharp pain in his left ankle. Sprained, maybe even broken. He wondered what to do. He was outside, in the middle of a warzone, in a mud puddle with a hurt ankle. Outside.
Before-In the building-he hadnt been able to call for extraction due to the structural interference. He flicked on his radio. "This is Corperal Jacob 'Specter' Jenkins. Do you read me Lightbringer?" "A voice crackled over the radio. "I read you Specter" It was Bill 'Lightbringer' Micheals, the squad's Pelican pilot, and the legendary Foehammer's ex-boyfriend. " This is Specter requesting extraction, I'm wounded." "What is your position?" Specter checked his eyepiece. "Right outside the Fox theater" "Negative! I cant pick you up there! To narrow to fly a Pelican! You need to get to Madison Street!" Lightbringer pinged a position. "Can you get to that position?" "Roger Lightbringer! I'll talk to you when i get there!"
Specter grabbed a medkit from his backpack and injected medicine into his ankle. It would let him him walk, but if it wore off the pain would be so intense Specter doubted if he could move. He stood up. There were small skirmishes everywhere. Marines were taking cover everywhere fighting off small groups of Covenant. He saw an elite being removed of it's head and two ghosts speeding down the alleyway. Two Ghosts. Right. At. Him.
Specter ran. He ran like he had never run before. He looked and saw two Marines throwing open a garage door. That's where he would take cover. Specter nearly wet himself as two plasma bolts came flying over his shoulder. Twenty Meters to the garage. more plasma bolts came hurdling from behind, missing Specter by a hair. 10 meters, 9 meters, they were shutting the door. "Nooooo! wait for me!" He wasn't going to make it. "Noooo!" Specter dove , hit the grund and rolled under the shutting door.
He paused to catch his breath, then looked around the room. It was a garage for military vehicles, all kinds. He saw scorpion tanks, warthogs, camo hogs, snow hogs, and troop transport hogs. but he found a vehicle that caught his attention. In the back were four helicopters. They looked like the almost-ancient comanche, but were the modern top of the line. They could fly at the speed of sound, and carried up to 100 missiles and/or bombs at a time. They had highly advanced navigation systems, and had better handling than a longsword. He didn't notice the two Marines in the corner.
"Nice birds, eh? "said one, obviously from Canada. "Mines the one on the right" said the other, a tall black man. "She's faster than the rest." "Nah, he's just crazy, eh?" said the Canadian to Specter. "Well, now the we got a Corporal i guess we can take em up" said the black one. "How could you tell i was a Corporal, and why do you need me?" asked Specter, astonished. The Canadian motioned toward Specter's arm, to a patch that read. "UNSC MARINE CORPS CORPORAL" "These birds have retinal scanners on the doors, and you need to at least be a Corporal to get past one." "Well, get to work!"
After Specter had unlocked the cockpits, the black man pushed a button, and the roof unfolded. The three climbed into the copters. "Allright!" said the black man. "Whats your name Corporal?" "Specter" replied Specter. "Okay, Specter, you know how to fly these things?" "No, but I'm learning!" yelled Specter as he flew off at 700 miles per hour. "Damn kid! He's gonna get himself killed!" said the black man over the radio. "Yeah!" replied the Canadian "And I'm goin with him eh?!"
Flying the copter wasn't that hard. There was a joystick for steering, pedals for yaw, and a big red button to ignite the jet engines. "Just in case I run into Covenant" Specter flipped the Master Arms switch to Armed. A female automated voice came over the loudspeaker. "Covenant Banshees approaching, move to engage?" "Yes" said Specter. "Lets see what this baby can do. The two Banshees saw Specter before he saw them. A green blast of plasma exploded ten feet from the copter, shacking it considerably. "Shit!" yelled Specter as he flew to avoid another blast. "Command Invalid" said the voice. "Ok, uh...Fire Hellspawn missiles!" Three small rockets shot out from under the stubby wings. The heat-seeking missiles homed in on the unlucky Banshees, destroying one and crippling another.
But something went wrong. The copter started to spin. "Tail rotor malfunction" announced the voice. "Please wait and enjoy a word from our sponsers." A soda ad came on. "Then another voice came over the speaker. Altitude, Altitude, Altitude. "Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit!" yelled as the copter spiraled out of control. A building came up out of the fog. Closer and closer it came. The copter slammed into the side of the building. The female voice came on agin "Main rotor is offline, please remain in your seats" The copter continued its fall downward.
Specter knew it was the end. He was actually going to die. He looked down at the street below, he would be part of it in ten seconds. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. The copter slammed into the pavement going 150 mph. Sparks were everywhere. Everyone watched with awe as the downed bird flew across the street. A couple unlucky Covenant were even flattened by the large craft. The copter finally skidded to a stop at an intersection. Specter was losing conciusness rapidly. He noticed a street sign. Madison Street. Then he remembered. He flicked on the radio with a feeble hand. "Lightbringer, this is Specter. I've reached the extraction point. you can come get me now" Then all went dark.
Specter woke an hour later in a field hospital, wondering what the hell had happened to him.
To be continued...
P.S. Sorry about only focusing on one character this time, next time will be different! (and longer!)
