Gorjn Yujont dodged behind the rocks of the planet Rudts 2. Jintanan, Gorjn's close friend was with him along with Orfanse, a jackal that had became one of the finest jackal assassins on the planet, but had eventually gone a little haywire on a group of elites and brutes that were going to kill his family. Having been shot in the left leg, he now has a permanent limp. They also had a following of a small group of fellow grunts, a few scattered jackals, and one of the original hunters that escaped before the elites had made all the clones they needed. Right now they were all trying to get to a ship the last of the rebel elites had set up for them that could support their group long enough to find some permanent area to live. Orfanse whispered over to Gorjn, " I think I hear some brutes coming around the corner. If we don't hurry there's going to be hell," he said in his raspy voice. Gorjn smelled the air for the scent of a brute. Yes, the unmistakable stench of a one wafted through the air. Gorjn almost wrenched with disgust, "I can't stand the odor of those flea ridden dogs." Suddenly, a crash came from behind. One of the clumsier grunts knocked over a near-by waste disposer. No one even had enough time to smack the idiot over the head before the blood-curtailing howl of a brute that has found its prey was heard. This was almost instantly followed by a shot from a slug thrower that hit the poor butterfingered grunt right in the methane pack on his back. Jintanan, who had always had a weak stomach for the violent nature of the times they lived in, vomited with fear and rage as he watched the sad little grunt suffocate from the lack of the precious methane it needed to survive. The hunter that was in the group called Hajeon, (a strangely compassionate hunter) picked up the now dead grunt, and then set the small creature aside gently. The brute that had shot the grunt now tried to snipe out the small areas between the thick armor plates on Hajeon. Fortunately, the slug thrower's shots were so inaccurate that they missed by a mile. Hajeon swung around with unmatched fury. Charging towards the brute, Hajeon smashed an elite that had come along to investigate the noise. He and the brute locked arms as a battle went on around them. Orfanse had stood his ground as he took out a group of grunts that had come with the elite, but had quickly gotten out of the way when Hajeon came along and tossed the elite away like it was a rag doll. The rest of the troop had swiftly retreated behind some rocks, and some had been shot when the battle had first started. As one of Gorjn's companions fell beside him and as the methane seeped out of its tank, Gorjn suddenly realized that his methane tank was getting low. "How're you holding up?" asked Jintanan. "Not that great," hollered Gorjn over the roar of the battle, "my methane tank is getting really low. If I don't find a place to refill..." Gorjn trailed off as he checked his methane level that was rapidly depleting. Jintanan shot a fully charged shot at one of the approaching jackals and took out his shield. That was quickly followed by a barrage of shots from their remaining group of jackals and grunts. Even though they were doing a fair amount of damage to the Covenant forces our numbers were dwindling. Suddenly, a large sickening crack followed by a scream of a brute dieing was heard. Hajeon had broken the brute in half and was now charging up his fuel rod cannon, aiming at the cluster of remaining enemy forces. The covenant flew in every direction as the shot hit the group. "The rebels won't wait forever, if we want to get off this hell hole we better hurry," said Orfanse warily. He was still expecting another battle to break out any minute, and wanted to keep as quiet as possible. Gorjn, whose tank was almost on empty, gasped in pain, "Go on with out me I need to find a place to refill my methane tank." A few of the group members objected to him getting separated from the group, and Jintanan even offered to give Gorjn some methane from his tank. But Jintanan was also pretty low, and had barely enough to get to the ship before he ran out himself. However, Orfanse insisted to come along with him for protection if Gorjn got into trouble or ran out of methane. They crept along the between the buildings and rocks. Gorjn was now trying to save methane by taking smaller and less frequent breaths. Orfanse spotted a methane pack building where the Covenant made grunt suits and methane tanks. The building was lightly guarded by a few jackals and an elite. They were able to sneak in and get a methane pack for Gorjn, and new plasma weapons for both of them. Then all of a sudden, the alert of a elite was heard. "A Camo," whispered Orfanse. "Don't worry, I can't see him but I can hear him." Orfanse turned around and let off a few shots from his plasma rifle. An elite fell to the ground dead where Orfanse had shot. "Lets get out of here!" yelled Gorjn as he hopped into a shadow's driver's seat as Orfanse got in gunners. They went shooting out of the factory as plasma went flying over there head. "We only have a minute to get on the ship!" Orfanse screamed over the sound of the battle. Banshees came at them in a group looking like a swarm of angry hornets. The shadow they were in was blown to parts as the banshees shot it with a barrage of fuel rod cannon fire. They had hopped out just before it blew up, and quickly hid so that the Covenant would think they were dead. Apparently it worked because they enemy commotion died down. As they came to the area where their group was going to be picked up they saw the ship already lifting away. They were too late, and now the only chance to get off the planet was now flying out of the hemisphere. "Damnit," growled Gorjn in frustration. Gorjn had never been one for self pity. He was a smart grunt at the age of 15. Making him middle aged, for grunts only live to the age of 30. Already he was calculating another way to find a way off Rudts 2. Orfanse stayed calm as well as he said, "come on, we got to find a new ship." "Yah we do," said Gorjn with a smirk. "Lets get to the Covenant base, we have a ship to steal."
This is a story that I might turn into a seris later but for right now I'm keep it as a single story
