AN: I'd like to thank MCC for showing me how to do italics and bold letters and things of the such.
Ten minutes after stepping onto the bridge, Brian had learned just about all he needed to know, according to Frank. What amazed him the most was the amount of firepower poised to cut down anyone who was stupid enough to walk onto the bridge. Why iz that man staring at me, and why does the AI Construct continually disappear, only to reappear moments later?
Frank interrupted Brian's thoughts. "We got a large group headed our way, this is probably gonna hurt."
"How large iz ze force?"
"Large." The way Frank put it, the way his voice sounded, none of it added up in Brian's head. He looked calm and sounded scared. Thought was pushed from Brian's head and replaced with a calm reserved mind that checked his rifle and sidearm that had been given to him. Both had full magazines but they were checked regardless. No sooner than defensive positions had been taken did the Covenant's attack begin.
"FIRE!" A unanimous decision by all present, expressed in words by few. Lead tore into skulls, arms, torsos, and legs. Plasma scarred the walls, limbs, chestplates and even the ceiling from petrified Grunts, squealing about dead leaders and running from the battle, only to turn around at the sight of their backup. A row of five hunters advanced in unison, and released five bolts from their arm-mounted weapon in unison. The effect was devastating. Marine's fell to the deck but died before that. Finally someone used a stationary 50mm chaingun to shoot the line of advancing Hunters. One Hunter went down, the two next to it chanced a look, exposing their back. Brian took the opportunity and killed one with a single bullet. Seeing the Hunters falling scared the Grunts again, and this time they ran for good.
Once again how did I know to do zat? The Marine at the chaingun managed to take out another Hunter, only this time the remaining two kept their backs safe from fire. Just as they were about to fire their weapons, the sound of a rocket could be faintly heard. Then a stream of white connected with blue armor, and created an explosion, killing the last of the Covenant attack.
A group of four marines jogged down the hall, one holding a smoking rocket launcher; the rest battle rifles and from the looks of it Grunt blood. Frank greeted them like old friends, and it seemed they were. "Glad you boys could make it, we've been having this horrible infestation problem, no matter how many we kill they keep coming back for more. I think we need a stronger prescription of lead."
"Haha. And an extra ha, because I'm feeling generous."
Frank opened his mouth to respond, but instead yelled out at them. "DUCK!" A blue sword had materialized, protruding from the stomach of one of the Marines. The others fired at the area behind him but the sword had already disappeared and moved. The Elite killed another Marine, disappeared, and killed another, until one was left alive. Brian moved into the hallway from behind the barricades. He put up his rifle just to the left of the remaining Marines head, and fired a three round burst. The Elite took two of them to his head and dropped to the ground, upon which the plasma sword auto shut off. The Marine looked at Brian, then at the dead Elite behind him.
"Wow, I owe you my life man, thank you so god damned much."
"You owe me nothing, for you would have done ze same for me." The Marine nodded then walked to the bridge, followed in by Brian. "I'm Tom by the way, what's your name?"
"To be honest, I can't remember, but call me Brian."
"That sucks man, that sucks bad." He took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and lit one, taking a long slow puff. "Can't seem to quit." Brian chuckled then suddenly remembered that Sarge had also smoked contraband cigarettes.
"Maybe it's coming back." He mumbled
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing."
"Ok well, I'm going to go stock up and take some time to remember those guys I met in the hallways. Damn Covenant Elite's wish I could be invisible." Tom walked off leaving Brian to his thoughts, which didn't last long. Frank came running up to Brian.
"Brian, we have a problem."
"What iz it?"
"The Covenant are trying to get to the main power core for the ship, if they get there and disable main power, it could knock out life support."
"That would be most unfortunate."
"Yes, it would. So will you help me get down there to prevent it from happening?"
"Of course I will." Without another word Frank and Brian left the bridge, Frank holding two MD6 pistols and Brian with his battle rifle. The sound of plasma and battle rifles could be heard in the distance. The two men looked at each other and ran to the direction.
Sure enough makeshift barricades had been set up. A duo of marines was fighting with their backs to the biggest metaphorical wall ever. Five Elite's and about a dozen grunts were advancing on them. Brian primed a grenade and rolled it amidst the most dense pack of Grunts, who squealed, ran two feet and then were thrown ten.
The two marines, noticing they had backup fought with a renewed zeal, taking down two Elites and the rest of the Grunts. The remaining three Elite's realizing the odds were now against them tossed plasma grenades at both groups of two men. The one thrown at Brian landed behind him, so He and Frank dived forward and covered their heads. However the Marines weren't as lucky. A plasma explosion killed them both. The Elites dropped to the floor after taking heavy fire from the lucky survivors of the incident.
Brian stood up, waited for Frank, and then they continued to the nearest maintenance elevator. The good news was it was there. The bad new was it was full of Covenant.
