A tour threw the Magical World of War Part One: Human Weapons

Ok, I'm not actually writing a story. I'm just giving some help for those of you who need it. This will include the name of weapons, how they work, the Covenant, and because I am seeing more Fan Fics directed around a single Marine or his squad, not Master Chief, some help with them too. Some good stories to read are MC's Bar and Grill, anything by Jillybean, and for the Marine orinted stories, Long Time Gone. These are all great stories that if you read, will help you understand the quality of the work here at HBOFF.
The first segment of our magical tour threw the world of war is the human weapons section. Humans are fighting a losing war against the Covenant aliens, and these are the weapons they are using to try to remain alive. These weapons are the backbone of the UNSC, and are in their most basic state. Things like silencers, extended magizines, more powereful scopes and so on can be added to increase their battle field effectiveness. These are the weapons encountered in Halo 2, so you don't get confuzled and try to squeeze an Assult Rifle in somewhere.
Weapons
BR55 Battle Rifle First things first, IT'S NOT AN ASSULT RIFLE!!! It's a Battle Rifle [from here on out, a BR] It has a 36 round magizine, 9.5 caliber armor piercing rounds, fires in three round bursts, and a 2x zoom optical sight. This is the bread and butter weapon of the UNSC forces, and is one of the most reliable weapons you can use. It has limited close quaters abilities, so you should not put somebody on point who has a BR in a close quaters situation.(A stairwell, the MAC storage room in the first level of H2) This is probably it's only drawback, aside form the fact that the magazine can be spent rather quickly.Have your soliders go for headshots, and have more than one person carry it.
M6C Magnum Pistol This is the main sidearm for the UNSC military. It fires a 12.7mm, semi armor piercing, high explosive round. The stripped down C version does not include a sight, but it does fire at a faster rate. Less powerful than it's predacesser, the M6d from Halo 1, it only be used as a last resort, and not as a primary infanty weapon. This weapon is issued to all soliders, but is mostly used by officers.
M7 Sub Machine Gun As if the Assult Rifle wasn't bad enough. This is a weaker version of the AR, has a much shorter range, and is basicly usless unless you are in tight quarters. Fires a 5.7 mm round (I think, this is off the top of my head) that is caseless, and the magazine attaches to the side of the weapon. Perfect for ODSTs because of it's small size. Other than that, there is not much to say. This is a good weapon to hand to your medic or engineer.
M90 Shotgun This is a great if you include it in the story right. Special Operations use these, they fire an 8 gauge buckshot round from a twelve round magazine.(Duel tubular non detachable type) Obviously the ranng is limited to short ranges, but it can be used to take down multiple weak enemies such as Grunts at medium range. Give to the person in the back off a formation.
S2AM Sniper Rifle This weapon has a 5x and 10x zoom, fires the 14.5 caliber armor piercing, fin stabilized, discarding SABOT round. This can easily over penetrate a target, so anything behind it is dead meat also. (Unless the original target is a Hunter) This can be easily demonstrated by doing the level Outskirts, and at the very begining, take Sarges rilfe and shoot the marine at the end of the formation if you are standing to his right. If you don't know who to give this to, go away, right now.
M41SSM Jackhammer Rocket Laucher SPNKr the Spanker. This weapon has the abilty to track targets, and send out sharpnel once it explodes. Fires a 102(or 105, once again, off the top of my head) millimter round. Give it to a demolitions expert.
M9 HE-DP Fragmentaion grenade This is the main grenade for the UNSC forces. Can be bounced around corners, and it explodes one half second after it hits a solid object. All soliders carry these, except maybe snipers because they work away form most of the action. Can be used to take down many enemies at once. Has a 15 foot blast radius
