---AS TOLD BY HUNTER_KILLER---
0905 Hours, November 6th, 2003(Military Calendar)/ Inside Halo: Combat Evolved for the PC The Pillar of Autumn, Deck 3, Section Baker 209
"We'd better get off the ship," I said frankly. "Why?" Inquired a Marine. "'Cause this ship is going to crash into Halo in about 15 Minutes, and anyone onboard is goin to snuff it purty quick!" I blurted, Elfster ,Warbrow, and bloodsoldier3 all in agreement. "That Pelican's our way out," Said Elfster. So, we all loaded up into the one Pelican, filling it. I was pilot, and bloodsoldier3 was my copilot. I pressed the throttle forward, and gripped the flight stick. The engines roared to life, propelling the Dropship upward slowly. After typing a command, the doors to the bay opened, and the Pelican roared out into space. We shot forward, and I gazed at space. "Helluva graphics show," I said to blood3. "Yah," replied my copilot, as he began to examine the weapons. "Dual 70mm Autocannons, twin rocket launchers, flack, flare, and foil launchers. Impressive. And a full load of 'em all to boot." "Look!" Said Elfster, climbing into the cockpit, and pointing towards the PoA through a window. Explosions lined the hull, laser blasts continually hit it, and every now and then an escape pod or two would streak away from the doomed hull. "I hope the other guys make/made it off," Said Warbrow gloomily, joining in. "Don't worry. Wu and his dudes and the rest are stubborn. They'll get through," I said, not too sure of myself. Gripping the flight stick, I saw the PoA speed up, passing us. Then, the emergency retros kicked in, and we rumbled towards Halo, now back in the lead. "What is that thing, General?" A Marine asked through the door. I suddenly had a Texas accent as I responded: "Hell if I know, but we're landing on it." Everybody stared at me. "What?" I said defensively, my accent gone. Then, with glee, I said, "I always wanted to do that." The Dropship hit the atmoshpere, and began to rumble and shake. "Hang on!" Blood3 yelled. Then, just like that, we were in Halo's air, flying 20,000 ft. over the ground, through the clouds. "Well, now we need to hook up with the other HBOers," Warbrow said. "How do we find them?" I asked, keeping the Dropship steady. Then, as if to answer me(things always do, even here), one final escape pod entered the atmosphere, and crashed into the ground. "Look! A pod! Let's go on a rescue mission, H_K!" Said Elfster, and the Pelican began to dive, and I found the pod on scanners. "Looks like a large enemy force is surrounding the crash site," I said, examining the screen. "An elevated plateau, with steep sides and only one narrow pass up. Good place for defense." Then, activating the radio, "This is Pelican Dropship HBO 1 to UNSC Survivors. Come in, please." "This is---- Team November--- heavy fire---- about a dozen Survivors---- enemy aircraft---- and Ghosts---- we're---- -surrounded!! HELP!!! Huh?---- H_-----? You---- ere?" Mainevent's voice came through, riddled with static. "Yah. We got Evac for ya, Main." Actually, the Pelican was at carrying capacity; maybe we could squeeze some extra room in the weapons lockers? No time now, friendly troops were in trouble! Indeed, after clearing the clouds, we saw the situation. 5 Banshees were strafing the survivors, who were hiding in a small cave. The wrecked UNSC Escape Pod was precariously covering the only entrance to the area. Covenant Teams were trying to dislodge it, but their work was really complicated by a large Machine gun, mounted in a Non-Banshee-Reachable area, manned by the lucky SOB himself: November leader. Several dozen Ghosts and five times that number in Infantry were circling the Plateau, shooting at the cave. As soon as the Banshees saw HBO 1, they all turned straight up. It was us, going almost straight down, and them, right for us. A blob of green plasma rushed past us, coming within 4 meters of the starboard wing. Then two more. Now a stream of the blue plasmatic blobs also rushed past. "Son of a Bitch," I cursed at my control panel, and swerved to avoid a burst of blue bolts. I jammed down the red button on the stick, and two rockets surged forward, and hit a Banshee in the port wing. Swerving wildly out of control, the one-winged aircraft fell towards the ground, landing on the newest removal team, and promptly exploded.
Note to Readers: Ok, guys. This is where I need all of your help. Write in to me your point of view of events until this point. All squad leaders can write to me, getting opinions and stuff from their squads. You may choose up to four HBOers of any size and shape except
[1] One used in my squad, [2] One used in another's squad, [3] Or the Halo Hackers or Mnemisis or Louis Wu.
So get to writing to me at jlp8118@sbcglobal.net! =)
