The Fight of Truth

The Prophet of Truth stared out of the large window in front of him. Blue explosions of plasma filled the black void in front of him as their ship drifted rapidly towards their ultimate goal; Earth. Hundreds of Covenant ships orbited the planet, deploying hundreds of purple Phantoms and firing down upon the blue atmosphere. The Cairo could be seen from where Truth was; it's MAC gun pumping endless rounds upwards, towards the Covenant armada that was slowly closing in. Unknown to Truth, they had a Hitchhiker aboard. Within the massive loading bay of the Forerunner ship, the Master-Chief surveyed his surroundings. He spotted a small ventilation hatch that was situated in the far wall. Walking casually over, he pounded his fist upon it until it finally gave way. Crouching down, the Chief crawled steadily through. Eventually, he came to a grill on his left side. Peering through, he saw two Honour Guard Brutes patrolling the corridor. A large power conduit was positioned next to where they were walking. Easy targets, he thought. Slowly, and as silently as possible, the Chief removed the grill and unclipped a single plasma grenade from his belt. he waited patiently for the split-second when they would be stood next to each other and right beside the conduit. He flicked the pin from the grenade and hurled it. BANG! The grenade exploded, and as it did, so did the power conduit. The result was a huge wave of plasma and shrapnel which blew the two Brutes across the hall. One had it's right-hand side ripped off from the blast, and the other lost both it's legs. Fur and Brute blood was scattered everywhere. The Chief continued to progress down the vent shaft. After quite a while, he came to the Bridge where Truth was hovering around and barking orders to the other Brutes. The Chief climbed from the shaft and activated the Energy Sword he'd brought along. He was instantly recognised, and a Brute leapt over from his terminal. He touched down straight in line with the Chief, and swung his fist forwards. The Chief ducked, and slickly impaled him. The Brute swayed, and fell to the floor, blood dripping onto the metallic surface. The Chief charged forwards, towards another Brute, and sliced through the air. The Sword narrowly missed the Brute's head as he sidestepped rapidly. The Honour Guard slammed his fist upon the back of the Spartan's helmet, and he fell to the ground. A sharp, stinging pain gripped the Master Chief, but he suddenly rolled to the side and brought the Sword up, cutting cleanly through the Brute's stomach. The Brute clutched his abdomen in pain, as he toppled backwards. The Chief leapt up and held the Sword up to the Prophet's throat. " The Index, now", the Chief ordered. The Prophet did nothing. "Now!", the Chief shouted. The Prophet pressed a button on his platform, and he teleported away. He suddenly reappeared at the Main Terminal, and he was ready to insert the Index. He retrieved it from his robes, and brought it down towards the computer. The whole ship shook violently as one of the passing U.N.S.C cruisers fired upon it. The Index was knocked from Truth's hand as he was thrown backwards. The Chief was also hurled off his feet. The ship shook again, and the Index slid along the metallic floor. The Master Chief stood up and threw himself towards the Index. Suddenly, appearing from nowhere, Truth zoomed through the air straight into the Chief. They collided fiercely as the ship sustained another hit. The Chief was knocked backwards into a terminal. The computer exploded, showering the Chief in bright sparks. The Chief pulled himself up, and ran. Not for the Index, but for his Energy Sword. He gracefully picked it from the floor, and turned. Truth was coming for him again, speeding through the air. Collision seemed imminent, but the Chief dropped to the floor, and simultaneously sliced through the bottom of Truth's platform. Truth careered into a nearby wall, and was thrown from his platform. He was grounded for the time being. The Chief sprinted to the Main Terminal overlooking the Bridge. He studied it for a moment, then began to press certain keys. Something flashed upon the Terminal. "Self-destruct sequence initiated" it read. But Truth wouldn't give up. Even though his platform could not move, he used it's cannons instead. A single stream of energy knocked the Chief from his feet and he hurtled into the wall.Truth clambered from his platform over to the Master Chief, lying on the ground, and retrieved the Index. The Chief suddenly looked up. Seeing that Truth had the Index, he said " hey buddy, go to hell!", and he flung the Energy sword towards the window. It easily cut through the glass and they were both sucked out into Space. As they flew towards Earth, Truth began to suffocate, and eventually, his head exploded. Master Chief simply aimed for the nearby U.N.S.C cruiser as he watched the Forerunner ship explode, in a shower of debris and flames. It was over.
