Halo 2: The Forgotten Part One Washington DC
Deployment +2100 hours:30 minutes: 07 seconds (West US Standard Clock)/ Washington DC; Status: in mission.
Lt. James D. Beckers rechecked his MA5B, unloaded the magazine, rechecked it, then slipped it back into the ammo slot. Beckers looked around him to see the rest of his twelve-man team, then peeked around the corner of the concrete fence column to check the area. He could see several craters in the lawn in front of the large white building from previous raids, and some quickly built empty trenches possibly 15 feet from his current location. He remembered how when the Covenant had raided Earth, one of their first objectives was to take the leaders of the most threatening countries hostage, one of them was US President Harris. There had been many raids on the White House to try and rescue the President, but no one succeeded. That's why his team had been called in, to get the job done...on the first try. Lt. Beckers snapped back to the present as a quick blast from a plasma rifle was fired at him from a window. He quickly tucked back behind the column and saw chunks of molten concrete fly of the edge where he was a split second before. He took a deep sigh and herd a Thmp from the other column to his left. He turned around the corner and saw an Elite fall from the second story window. "O yeah...that's my 14th of the day" Sgt. Natis, one of the teams three snipers, preached over the radio, "Come'on guys, your fall'in behind!". "Shove it.", Chief Wilson , another one of the snipers, sneered. "Don't you worry Natis, I'll have more than you by the time the mission is over, you can count on it". 2nd Lt. Berg snickered. The three of them where the best snipers a squad leader could have, and especially because of their competitive attitudes. Each one drove the other to make perfect shots, after-all, there respect for one another, including their lives where on the line. They trained themselves to be almost invisible, even while shooting, which means that they always use silencers to muffle the sound, and take away the flash of the shot. Like the rest of the team they had completely customized weapons. Their weapons of choice were the S2 AM Sniper Rifles, but heavily modified to their likings. Since they all have the same behavior while sniping, their weapons have the same upgrades as one another. Instead of the standard 10x Centurion Scope System, they bought with the teams funds, they newer 20x Centurion Warrior Scope System. They also have had the barrel assembly taken off to have a 5" shorter barrel, but with threads on it to be able to attach a high quality silencer. Plus, to make the rifles even more deadly, they had a second type of ammunition. It was a bigger and deadlier version of the standard MA5B's shredder rounds. The round was shaped like a normal AP (armor piercing) round, but the end was grooved like a grenades surface. The round was shot, and about 5' from the target, the end shattered and exposed a serrated pointed bullet type. The shrapnel from the shattered tip hit the target, then about ten hundredths of a second later, the actual shell hit, plus the round was semi explosive. This round allows the sniper to kill an Elite in one shot, even in the torso. Another Elite moved into a window but was quickly shot by 2nd Lt. Berg. "Told you Natis. I'm catching up already" Beckers opened up the comm. link. "Ok, settle down guys. We really need to get into the building to complete the mission. Get into our usual teams, and snipers, prepare to give cover. "Team one will move through the front of the compound and enter through the front of the building and move from there, checking each room on the first floor. Team two will move in from a door or window in the back of the compound and do as team one does on their side of the building. Team three will grapple to the top of the building and search the top floors. Finally, team four will snipe out enemies who wonder in view of the windows." Beckers paused for a couple of seconds, then said a one last note, "And once teams one and two complete checks of all rooms of the first floor and the president hasn't been found yet, they'll move up and check all rooms until the president has been found." Eleven lights of confirmation winked on Beckers's helmets HUD. His helmet system, and his whole suit for that matter, was designed after the Mark V. Since his team isn't enhanced with all the abilities and strength like the Spartans, the suit was made more for extra protection, and better communications. Because of this it is not a full body suit, just coving places like chest and back, head, waist, front of thighs, shins, biceps, and all of the lower arm. The metal armor is made of an advanced tungsten alloy, with a thin layer of diamond to give extra protection, and to get rid of the shine, it has been painted black which also gives decent all-around camouflage. To be able to cope with equipment needs, a small backpack was built into the back-plate of the suit to hold extra supplies. In addition, the suit had ammo pockets on the waist guard, but also some more pockets set vertically on the chest plate, like the ones on the vests that where given to US troops in the 21st century. Beckers watched as the three men of team two assembled, and started on their way along the fence line to the back of the compound in a crouched run. Just like I taught them, Beckers thought, when going somewhere, stay as low as possible, and as quickly as possible. Then looked as the three men of team three snaked their way into the front and to the side of the compound to grapple to the rooftop. He looked to the men in his team, team one, MST Falhed, and CPL Smith. The two of them looked at him with anticipation, and readiness. Just as he gave them the signal to move to their first waypoint, there were three simultaneous Thmp's, then two more, five jackals fell from the windows, and team two and three's acknowledgments lights winked on his HUD, indicating that they had achieved their first waypoints. He and hid two companions finally headed towards the front doors of the White House.
PFC Kenny David looked down into the long hallway of the top floor through a emergency exit hatch. As a group of jackals and grunts turned the corner to another hallway, David gave the "all clear" signal to Sgt. Aclore, the team leader, and CPL Banks. Three of them silently jumped into the hallway with weapons at ready, still all clear. This was PFC David's first real mission with Delta, and he was glad who he was pared with. CPL Banks, a seemed like perfect human body, normal that is. He was a very big and muscular person, but not overly muscular. But the best thing was he worked wonders with the machinegun. The machinegun, a JN9C Light Machinegun, was silenced like all the teams weapons, carried a three hundred round drum, and had a 2x Scope System, not as much for shooting as for spotting. Really they weren't supposed to have them, the El-Tee bought them from the Germans for a hefty amount of money. But nonetheless he was glad he was with Banks and his gun. Then there was Sgt. Aclore. He wasn't as big or strong as Banks, but he had this sixth sense. Whenever there was an enemy near, he would get a "weird feeling". This sixth sense has saved the teams hide many times, and most likely will this mission. Aclore's weapon, like David's and the four other assault members, was a modified MA5B. Again, it was silenced, had a 8x Scope System, and two types of ammunition. There was the squads standard depleted uranium (DU) shells, and the modified shredder rounds, but smaller to fit the assault rifle. Sgt. Aclore raised up his hand in a fist, signaling the team to stop. He paused for a few moments then opened a channel with his group. "Ok guys, here's the deal. The El-Tee and team one have infiltrated the front of the compound and have searched 3 rooms so far...", Sgt, Aclore paused, allowing the team to digest the information. David thought to himself, maybe that's where the grunts and jackals were going, to support their men, that should make it easier on us. Sgt. Aclore continued, "team two with Sgt. Heckner has also successfully infiltrated the building and have cleared four rooms. So lets pick the pace and find the president.
Note: This is my first fan fiction (duh!) and I hope that I get a positive feedback. If anyone thinks that I have the right thing going, but need some work, I am open to some help, although if it changes the way the story is going then I might not use the correction. So...here it goes, hope u like it.
