DISCLAIMER THING!: This is my first ever Fan Fiction anywhere about anything. So dont be surprised if its not the best. This story will be about the Adventures of a Grunt and ODST Marine. The ODST does not appear in this Chapter. Thats All Im Telling. Just read.
Chapter One: GawGap. Gawgap, a grunt lied within the sentinel wall, His mission, to bring down the shields to The Index, a Sacred Key. This sacred icon's purpose was to unlock the Halo he was on and send him and the other covenant on to the goal of their Great Journey. Gawgap was honored to do this mission, he was only a Red Grunt, and HE got to greatly advance their Great Journey, All he had to do was survive with the rest of his party members so they could set down the very gate that kept the Index from being taken.
Gawgap was a bit different from most grunts, Gawgap had a very strong right arm and he had alot of sense and bravery. This right arm helped him fire more rapid and accurate from other grunts because the recoil wasn't as strong to him. This arm wasn't just a advantage to him, but to his brothers of the covenant. Back on the now gone Human Planet Reach, Gawgap managed to save a injured Ultra ranked elite from a hole punched into the bottom of a covenant ship that was being evacuated. If it weren't for GawGap that elite would have fell to his death. GawGap managed to pull this elite from out of the hole, dragged him all the way to the grav lift for a safe landing, and to medical attention. That elite is now the Spec-Ops Commander.
Returning to preset time, our Hero was fighting off what seemed like a endless amount of sentinels. The sentinels came out many at a time and were easy to beat but they kept coming. The sentinels managed to kill of all the brutes, because they believed they were the bigger threat, they were wrong. The Arbiter and a grunt named Herbie came sliding down from a piston. "Do as I do to these spawn points!", quickly shouted The Arbiter as he threw plasma grenades with great aim, he stuck each one of these ports the sentinels came from and watched them all explode one after another. Gawgap rubbed the back of his head, "Why didn't we think of that?"
The Arbiter, Gawgap, Herbie, two grunts, and two jackals made there way down the levels, with little trouble, and found another grunt. The party stopped to pick up fresh ammo, equip some more powerful weapons, and take a small break. Arbiter set his hand on the glyph that opened the piston "I feel like there's going to be alot of trouble ahead."
Everyone took a deep breath pumping themselves up for what was to be ahead. Regardless of their fear they were ready.
"Check your needler and carbine clips, and keep plasma pistols charged up." The Arbiter ordered.
The arbiter gave them the hand signal to stay back, he activated his active camo to take a look. The same beast he saw when he got to the wall was here. Gawgap saw the machine's giant Shield, it looked like a giant jackal's shield. He released his plasma pistol's held trigger with his aim on the Shield. The behemoths left shield gave out in a flash just like a jackal shield. Gawgap's friends caught on to the idea and rained fire on the unshielded beast from different angles across the large room. They all met up in the center platform while The Arbiter activated the other glyphs. As soon as the center panel was activated the platform shook and moved towards the door.
"That wasn't so bad! Now was it Arbiter?" Gawgap said.
"No It wasn't, but I still have that bad feeling"
"Well we have got back up!" Gawgap shouted, watching the incoming phantom.
Ahead large double doors opened revealing every human or covenant's worst nightmare. Gawgap was stunned, he fell back to the ramp, but back came to continuousness. There it was, The flood, they do exactly as their name implies. Phantom fire was hitting what ever it could to help, it also drew the Enforcer Sentinels away. Gawgap was taught how to combat these creatures, Human weapons.
"Take care of the armorless forms, I got the heavy ones!"The arbiter shouted.
The Arbiter was dual wielding a "SMG" and a plasma rifle. Since Gawgap was able to dual wield, unlike most grunts, he picked up the same weapon combo as Arbiter. Battle raged for an amount of unknown time. While Gawgap was reloading and letting his plasma rifle cool he saw two of his grunt comrades fall to their death, or were they already dead? He didn't know and didn't have time to find out because a flood form was about to swing at him with its huge deformed arm. The creature spun in the air in hopes of making its hit be more forceful. Right before the monster could face front to Gawgap a battle rifle shot hit the infection form that controlled the body. Right before Gawgap could thank the jackal who fired that saving shot, a combat form pounded the jackal's frail spine, killing him. The arbiter finished the creature off,
"THAT was the bad feeling", the Arbiter said while breathing heavily.
Fighting finally ended in this room. One Jackal, Herbie, the Arbiter, and Gawgap remained. Sentinel wreckage, infected flood bodies, a jackal's corpse, and a load human weapons littered the floor. Since most of the weapons were human ones they took what ammo they could carry and picked up marine supplies belts. It felt odd using the enemies items but they wouldn't get through with only bear hands and worn out covenant weapons. Before leaving the ones who remained alive took the jackals bodies and hid it in a unused port in which sentinels usually came out of, The arbiter took off the dead warrior's wrist band which generated a shield and handed it to GawGap. "Im sure that's what he would have wanted..." the arbiter said gently. Gawgap accepted and equipped the band. Over top of the button which activated the shield GawGap noticed a name, "Ki-az". "Thank you, Ki-az.", Gawgup said quietly.
