An Endless War My eyes opened when I heard the himm of the lights turning on, the room was dark and begins to light up with life. My bothers and I awoke and started to put on our boots, hats, clothes, and armor, "I'm not sure was we need to put these on they don't make a difference anyway", said Petty officer john thin new land. Some of the men laugh at this remark, I wasn't moved however. It wasn't five minuets after the lights came on when the Sergeant busted in and shouted at us "Ladies get your asses outside right now", he used more profane words, but we all got the messaged. Sarg was a dark man with huge arms and hands, and a very aerating voice. The Sarg had a letter in his hands, he spoke to us in a serious tone, "men today is a great day, we got a letter from the high command that the 1st Infantry unit to go and defend Earth from the Covenant. Their war ships are landing and massing in northern Russia. We are to go and hold them off until the 101st Armor Division gets here to push them back." "Men that's the plan, so get your shit together and be ready to move, we leave tomorrow." he saluted us and left. About 20 percent of the men were afraid oddly it was the veterans, the rookies like me were excited and ready at least we thought we were. The Covenant were a roofless, blood thirsty aliens, some were tall, short, big, or have some short of shield that's was made of some unknown energy. Their ships were almost invincible, one vet. told me, he was once in the sock troopers, or normally know as the Delta Force. The next day 1000 men got onto drop ships and headed for Russia, the drop Ship was old and rusted it had missing blots and it was dark and damp. We all tried to sleep. Then a sudden rumble awoke us we heard shooting and explosions, now we were afraid. As the doors opened we seen what was left of the 21st par drop unit, men were bleeding to death on the ground, as hot shells rain down on them. It seemed that every sec a man would fall from getting shot by a blot of Plasma, it would burned through the armor and boiled the skin inflecting anomies amounts of pain. When I was pushed off the drop ship I ducked and crawled to the felid sergeant. He said welcome to hell boy. I told him my name and regiment I was in. he interrupted me and said "damn it boy get up and shoot", I lifted my rifle and began to fire my 30 round clip at the tall blue Covenant, know as Elites. When the Covenant finally retreated I noticed that the Sergeant I was talking to was lying on the ground bleeding I shouted "medic", when the medic averred he said I'm sorry he's dead. I was socked that a man I was just talking to was dead like that, we only fought from about 15 minuets. The men were looking for a leader but all rank officers were dead but one and it was me. I told them I was not qualified from the hold responsible of that. But I was forced to be the commanding officer of the 21st par drop and the 1st Infantry units. I got mail saying I was to move our for of 1600 man force 50 miles from the Covenant massing zone. I was saying to my self "what they think we had no losses, our combined number was 750 men only 50 men live from the ordinal 600 par drop unit, we had lost 300 men today of our 1000. So we marched to 50 miles of the LZ of the Covenant, I ordered my first ordered, men dig in, we made a line 6 miles long, I drop ship flew by and resupplied us, with ammo, new weapons, now we are well-armed. The 101st Armor division was 100 miles away from our current position. When the Covenant decided to attack, we were over-whelmed with plasma bolts. It was like slow motion it took forever for my hot shells to hit the ground and men were falling one by one, blood flooded the dug out, all I heard was scramming and guns firing. The slow motion stopped when one of the men shouted at me we are all go a die if we stay here, he jumped out of the dug out I tried to grab him but he limed back and fell into my arms, he was shot right in the back of the head, his armor was hot his skin was sizzling like bacon. I sat him down on the ground pick back up my rifle with my blood stricken hands and began to fire.
To be continued............
Was inspired by the bungie game Halo
