January 5, 2554, ONI Section 5 Plaza, Exurban System
Corpses were littering the ground as the Spartans walked through the plaza. They were ordered to retrieve a certain "package", that being the ex- Colonel Ackerson. After the triumph of the Earth battle with the Covenant, the colonel went into hiding.
With his title and rank revoked, Ackerson was broken. His idea didn't work. His plan to win the war with the Covies didn't work. Hers did, so Ackerson did what any broken man would do, killed his rival.
Ackerson, now known as the Reaper (a joke to many yes), found where the good Doctor was hiding, and tried to kill her. But what he found wasn't a Doctor, but one of the few surviving Spartans, Kelly, to be exact. In an attempt to rid himself of his rival, Ackerson killed the Spartan, in her Cryogenic sleep. The doctor was still nowhere to be found.
With the death of Kelley, the UNSC ONI Section Three decorated Ackerson as a traitor to the Navy. Then the Spartans: John, Fred, Linda, Max and Axe, were ordered to find Ackerson and kill him by any means necessary. This made John smile with revenge.
"Sir, I found that these Marines were part of Bravo Company, sent here for recon. The thing is, Ackerson doesn't have any Marines to do this." reported Axe.
Beautiful.
"So that scum has some other means of destruction? This is just perfect. Load your weapons, lady and gentlemen, were on a hunt..."
Ackerson woke in a cold sweat. He grabbed his father's old revolver (vintage from the 19th century) and scanned the room. He had been a bit paranoid form when they started sending people after him. Who could blame him? After all, he only killed her because he needed to. He actually did them a favor.
"Yes, that's it. A favor..."
But he had some remorse for a handful of Spartans. Some he had recruited. Some that had no love for the UNSC. Some who wanted to rid themselves of the other Spartans. It had taken many bribes and blackmails... many indeed, but all the more worth it. He had recruited the best: Athena, Hephaestus, Hades, Eris, and even the one they seemed to call Zeus (probably their leader). Yes. Ackerson had read the files on each of these Spartans. To an ex-Colonel, these were impressive.
They were all Ackerson had. He had lost his wife when they revoked his rank. His children disowned themselves. They did that to him. He would make them pay for it. Yes sweet revenge. He would make the rest of their life torture. Yes he could taste it.
He found the rouge Spartans at Zanzibar, an old power plant where they hid. A great battle took place there. The Spartan by the name of Chuckles held off hordes of Covenant forces. Ackerson smiled with glee.
"He will do well with my plan. Very well..."
The radar went off in a loud shriek. The traitor looked up and saw that the blip was of UNSC origin.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here? Maybe he came. Spartans: get ready NOW."
1 day earlier Marine Platoon, Alpha Bravo Delta, moved en route to the last know coordinates of the anomaly. Sergeant Michael Derido moved his soldiers very cautiously around this area of the plaza. After all, the traitor was very dangerous, he had killed a Spartan. "Sergeant, sir, we have a contact; make that four contacts!"
Contacts? How could they be here already? The Sergeant grabbed his rifle, and moved up to his scout.
Sure enough, the soldier saw four contacts. He looked closer and fear flooded into his heart. He saw Spartans, not the ones he was brought with, but different ones. Ones with blood stained armor, broken face plates, and missing pieces of plating.
"These must be the rebels I've heard so much about," Muttered the sniper. He aimed his rifle a Spartan. "Well, they won't be a problem after this." The sniper shot the Spartan, which would be the last thing he ever did...
The Master Chief checked the dead marines for any form of identification, but found that their dog tags were stolen.
"Chuckles," muttered the Chief under his breath. "how did he get here? I thought he was dead."
"Unluckily for you, John my good friend, I'm not." Said the ghostly voice.
The Chief felt his gun and belt being pulled from his suit. "Athena, stop that. I think you're having a little to much fun with that."
John's blood ran cold. His veins froze. His bones locked, and his muscles contracted. His creator's mortal enemy had just captured him. He had failed...
