Chapter One
Spartan 256 studied the strange scientist meticulously as she walked back and forth staring at her clipboard. Her deep, gazing eyes raced from side to side reading the advanced information that was scattered across the sheet. It seemed as if the scientist was amicable, but why then was she staring so harshly at him every time she looked up, which was rare.
Maybe its because she is stressed out or maybe she became belligerent because of the war going on between us and the Covenant. Its not everyday a technological scientist has to be rushed into making a new, highly advanced armor while she would have to worry about an insidious covenant attack.
The scientist then tossed her clipboard on the table in displease and said calmly, "Ok, I need to test the MJOLNIR VI armor and I only have two days to do it. I just finished fixing the only set of the MJOLNIR VI that I have, and they give me two days to test it. I'm sorry Ben, but since my superiors only gave me a limited amount of time, for all I know, that suit could strain your body to hard and kill you."
"But you were building it for over a year now, it has to be finished. You were so happy before when you completed the whole armor, but now that you have to test it you get frustrated," Spartan 256, or Ben, answered in a serious, senseless tone.
"You don't get it though. The pressure gel wasn't even installed yet, meaning nothing would hold the suit up from the inside causing it to decline. The weight of the suit would crush every bone in you body, killing you instantly," The scientist told Ben in a grim way.
"I don't care if it can kill me, I'll test that armor anyway. I want to fight the damn Covenant already," Ben offered his collaboration undauntedly.
"Ok, if you want to go through with this than, I'll do it. I wouldn't put you through this unwillingly, it would insensible. Besides you are the best Spartan in training of them all, you should be able to handle this," The scientist said in appreciation to Ben's bravery.
"So when do we get started?" Ben asked in an enthusiastic way.
"Well since we established the fact that you will go through with it, I'll go install the pressure gel and then we can get started. Meet me on the obstacle course at 0630 hours and be ready," The scientist replied.
Ben then started to walk away but then realized something, turned around, gazed at the scientist and said, "By the way, I didn't get your name."
"Oh, my name is Hope," The scientist responded.
"Ok, see you at 0630 tomorrow morning," Ben said back to Hope in a calm fashion.
Ben awoke to the early bird Spartans working on their aim at the firing range. Ben was unfortunate enough to get the barracks right next to the obstacle course and firing range. It was like this every morning, all you would ever wake up to is guns blazing, every morning day in and day out.
He then got up and stared through the window, it was raining. Droplets of watery rain pounded against the bullet proof windows as Ben got out of bed and dressed up in his military outfit. It was a darker green with spots of black, these colors were chosen because they could conceal any marine or Spartan in the environment.
As Ben tied his tall boots a knock echoed through the room and alerted Ben to the fact that someone was at the door. He got up, grabbed the knob, turned it slowly and opened the door.
Ben was greeted by Donny, his best friend in the army, "Ms. Jenkins wants you to meet her at the obstacle course."
Donny was a cocky but nice guy. He always liked to joke. Even to his commanding officers screaming in his face. The usual reason that the Sergeant would be screaming in his face was Donny being cocky before hand. Donny was a tall man, due to all the intense training, with brown hair and a goatee. He had a very light complexion, he looked almost like he was dead.
Then Donny barged into Ben's thoughts and yelled sarcastically, "Hey pinky! Are ya' deaf! The doctor wants you to hurry to the obstacle course."
"Yes I heard you damn it! Anyways, I already knew she wanted me over there, she scheduled it yesterday." Ben replied to his arrogant comment.
"Well if you already knew than what the hell are you doing, get to it," Donny answered back in a supercilious way.
Ben then shoved Donny out of the way and started to jog towards the obstacle course.
As he jogged away from Donny he yelled, "See you later!"
Looking around as he jogged, Ben noticed that there was no one at the firing range anymore. He hadn't even noticed that the shooting stopped while he was talking to Donny. Ben stared mindlessly at the elite-shaped targets as he tried to conjure up a motivation for the sudden disappearances of the early bird Spartans.
Then Ben's thoughts were interrupted when Hope, or Ms. Jenkins yelled out his name, "Ben! Over here! The MJOLNIR VI is ready and organized for you!"
Ben ran a few more yards before he could see what the MJOLNIR VI looked like. It was a color between dark and light green, as all the others were, and it had an inclusive helmet that was newly designed. It was bulkier and had a yellow visor that looked like it slanted out a bit creating a sleek look. The rest of the armor was also completely redesigned. Two black, ring-like shoulder pieces protruded out of the armor making the armor look like it had wings. It looked like a dragon.
"So lets get this baby started up," The doctor said.
"Should I just get it on and get ready?" Ben questioned her in curiosity.
"Yup, just slip it on and we can start this test. You'll be doing a series of easy tests and one exceedingly hard test. Now lets get this thing on you," Hope answered my question in enthusiasm to find out whether or not her suit works.
He then picked up the cuirass of the armor and realized that it weighed more than one hundred pounds. The weight of the cuirass made Ben's arm plummet to the ground. He then slipped on the cuirass and activated the pressure gel so that it wouldn't crush his ribcage. He got the rest of the armor on in about five minutes with difficulty along the way.
Then, as soon as Ben finished, Hope interrupted his thoughts and said, "Now that you got it on, lets get this test started."
