The Spartans Captured
By James and Kevin
Chapter 3
"Left!" shouted James as he made a sharp left turn. Kevin followed. "Right!"
"where are we going?" asked Carlos.
"Coagulation." replied James.
"But why Coagulation?" Susan wanted to know, "I thought that place was abandoned."
"What a better place..." Kevin butted in.
The spartans drove for another mile or so when Carlos anounced there was an energy spike ahead. Jameas slowed, so did Kevin. After making a right around jagged boulder formation, they saw what caused the spike. At the only ground entrance to Coagulation was a few hundred grunts.
"Get in front of me." said James pulling off to the side.
"Roger, Susan man the turret." ordered Kevin.
"Aye." Susan responded.
"I don't think they've spotted us yet." Carlos reported.
At that moment the grunts opened up.
Shots rang out from both sides, a battle had begun. Susan took the first line of grunts out in less than a minute, the second line, not so easy. They grunts had energy sheilds, and needlers which would do more damage than the usual plasma pistol.
About five yards next to Kevin an explosion went off. "Holy-", another plasma-like rocket cut Kevin off. "Find out were it's coming from now!" he ordered. "Some were up there." Carlos pointed to a rocky out crop up above. A single burst came from Susan and the explosion stoped. "Got 'em" she yelled.
Kevin's warthog was being peppered by needlers. No matter what maneuver he tried, Kevin just couldn't shake them. "James, follow me behined that boulder, I have a plan." So james followed Kevin.
"Excellent tactic." Carlos said after Kevin explained the plan. "I'll get the bombs ready, Susan, find a good sized rock." James added.
"Bombs are armed." reported James.
"OK, drop the rock on my mark." grunted Kevin as he and carlos pushed the warthog into position.
"Copy that." Susan replied.
The exploding 'Hog tactic was al most complet. "No, no, almost...Now!" shouted Kevin. Susan drpopped the rock on the excelerator, and ran back for cover. The warthog raced towreds the grunts. "Detonation; now!" yelled James. BOOM! The explosion erased any and all traces of the grunts.
Kevin got back in the driver's seat, James in the passenger, Susan maned the turret, and Carlos sat on the rear bumper. the spartans road on.
At the Covenant's ship currently stationed in Coagulation, a grunt scurried down a corridor. "Master, master!," it yelled bursting onto the bridge, "I have a message from our outpost."
"What is it?" the Ship master demanded.
"It's the spartans, they're coming!"
"Esvi, report."
"Yes?" answered Esvi.
"Stay here and hold off the spartans."
"Yes master." Esvi said as he walked away, grabed a carbine, and got off the ship. it blasted off.
Susan saw this through her HUD's built-in scope. "We're too late." she anounced. "Let's go, maby we can find some clues.' kevin said as he drove into Coagulation. The spartans went through the abandoned bases, caves, anything to find a trace of Frank.
Kevin saw something move in the trees. BAM!, a single shot had hit Esvi in the legs, and he fellfrom the tree, his carbine out of reach. "Please...no more...I surrender." panted Esvi.
When he awoke, Esvi was in one of the abandoned bases, his legs much better. He cleared his eyes; adjusting to the dim light. "What is your name?" asked Kevin.
"I am Esvi'Mijuree."
"Where are your comrades going to next?"
"They are headed for Burial Mounds."
"Why?" asked Carlos.
"If my old platoon and I are correct," James answered, "Burial Mounds is no more than a big transport to the Covenant base, right Esvi?"
"One hundred precent."
"Lets go then." stated Susan, and they did just that; left.
After what seemed like hours, they got to Burial Mounds, the spartans in their warthog, and Esvi in a ghost. As it turned out, surprisingly Esvi was part of a rebelion and agreed to help. The rocky plains were deserted and scorched looking.
"They've been here..." Esvi said.
"How can you tell that?" asked James.
"You see thoses scorch marks?, that meens they've already used the teleport."
The spartans went to get their vehicles after clearing the remote area, when Esvi stoped them. "Those won't be necessary."
"Why not?" asked susan.
"You see, the base is in the air, and besides, it'll be to cramped.
So the spartans went back to their vehicles to get some ammo, then Kevin saw something on radar. Carlos appeared at his side.
"Thats odd."
"What?" asked Kevin.
"There are twentyseven red dots, the Covenant, and three green dots."
"Who are the green dots."
"I can't tell you their names, but their military IDs I can; 091, 682, and 531."
James Froze.
"What were their IDs agin?" asked James.
"091, 682, and 531, why?"
"Thomas, Marie, and Nasser..." James whispered to himself.
"What?"
"Thomas, Marie, and Nasser!," shouted James, "My old troop!"
Then in a flash of green, James ran to the monitor, and sprinted off in the direction of his newly-found, old troop. "Wait!" Kevin shouted. But it was too late, he was gone.
