In a pelican of the state of Virginia in the United States
We were flying high in the sky. It was all a blur really. I was being transported to my father, the president of the United States. I may be eighteen, but he has me treated like a kid. In the sky he thought I would be safe. Huh, yeah right. One pelican flying unescorted as to not draw attention, but it did the exact opposite. The covenant seized the opportunity to catch one of our prized machines unprotected.
"Crap, there are three banshees coming up fast on our rear," said the pilot. He was reading all of the instruments that made no sense to me. "Zeta, come in. This is 324, we are engaged, I say again we are engaged. Sergeant, man that gun at the back, and position the rest of your men to shoot at the banshees."
The sergeant went right to it gladly. They were talking, but it was muffled out as they opened fire on the first banshee to come in their sights. I stared out the exposed back end of the pelican, paying no attention to the blinding flashes from the blazing guns. Shells that had cased the bullets fell to the floor, bouncing, and then flying out of the craft They took out the first banshee with ease, but then the other two were doing complicated maneuvers to evade the oncoming bullets.
I ducked as a steam of bright blue heated plasma flew into the passenger's area. There was lots of yelling, then everything went silent as I watched a marine fall out of the aircraft to his death, if he wasn't already dead. He fell, probably to never be found again. Everything came back to me when I let that pass. There was cursing from the marines as they struggled to hang on the grips on the pelican as it did its on evasive maneuvers.
"We need some assistance, we are taking hits. This bird won't be flying much longer if we can't take those out," yelled the pilot furiously. I saw the instruments again. They were changing constantly with each new hit from plasma. Smoke filled the cabin, only to fly out the back of the plan. Another marine was hit, and he fell, grasping his stomach in unbearable pain. I heard him scream in pain, and it stuck in my head. That left us with only six people in the faltering machine, counting myself.
I looked around, and the marines had strapped themselves in the seats like I did. I glanced out the back, and to my horror saw a bright green bolt flying towards us. I had no time to react as the smoldering plasma flew past me into the cockpit. The pilots had just enough time to scream in one short burst before they fell silent forever.
The aircraft jerked furiously to the right, then rolled over. It was barreling toward the ground. We would jerk, and then steady, only to jerk again. My back, my neck, my hands throbbed with searing pain from the punishment. I chanced a glance into the cockpit. It was torn to shreds. The instruments were gone. Unwillingly the ground was growing closer and closer.
Memories flashed passed me, I said prayers as fast as I could think. I cried. The men around new their fate was coming as well. Some cried out in their native tongue. Others just remained silent with terrified expressions on their face, which changed every time the plane jerked.
The emergency lights were flashes. Lights, and then darkness. Each and every time the ground was closer. I clinched my teeth, as we were about to hit. Screams. Noise. Then nothing I could not remember anything. Just a loud crumpling of trees, noise. Nothing.
Now I wake, still strapped into what should have been my death place. I reached for my, and felt it caked with blood. I was sore all over. I opened my eyes. Light was flashing in and out of the cabin. Each time I saw the other men around me, who were dead. I undid my straps, and stood even though my legs and back protested with incinerating pain. I limped over to one of the marines and took his helmet, armor, battle rifle, and ammo.
I walked out of the wreckage to see fire all around me. I carefully navigated my way through it. I heard the cracking of twigs. Then speech in a language not known to me. I quickly ducked behind a fallen tree to observe what I was hearing. Two elites were coming, followed by a group of grunts and jackals. They looked around the pelican, and then went in it. One of the elites stared at me. His shiny white had reflections of the fire dancing on it. He gazed, and did not look away.
Frozen, I stared back, scared, and unable to move. Afraid that if I did move I would confirm what he was looking at. Seconds passed, and then he looked away. He walked over to the other elite, and talked for a moment. The group left back into the shadows from which they had come.
Just to make sure no one was coming back, I still looked at the wreckage for several minutes. Once I was convinced they weren't I turned around to lean against the tree, so I could sleep. Once fully turned I saw to massive legs right in front me. The same legs of the white elite. I looked up into his menacing faces. He roared, which made me flinch uncontrollably, and then racked me in the head with the back of his carbine.
Dazed and unaware I woke on my hands and knees. I wound bound to the ground so I couldn't move. I looked up, and around. Dozens upon dozens of covenant of various races surrounded me. They chanted in their language. The aliens split, and the white elite that had hit me walked forward. He stopped in front of me, raising both his hands proclaiming something of great importance in his deep voice. The rest of the covenant erupted into a loud, deafening clamor.
He raised one hand to silent them. He activated his energy sword. I clinched my bloody hands in to a tight fist as I realized what was about to happen. I began shaking uncontrollably, breathing harder and faster. Sweat was rolling down my face. Anger grew in my mind. He rose his sword, then swung down at me.
