Urban Warfare Ch.1: 7th Platoon
Date: 28 June 2004, 3:41 PM
Urban Warfare Ch.1: 7th Platoon 1900 hours, September 15, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)In low orbit around Earth, in dropship Alpha-5 "Damn it Sarge, when the hell are we going to drop!?" Corporal Pierce screamed over the roar of the Pelican's afterburners" "In a moment, Piece, so just shut your hole and do your job" Sergeant Chang replied. "Were coming over the drop zone in 15!" the pilot clicked over the COM "Give em hell, boys." "You heard the lady, let's drop!" As he said this, a stray plasma torpedo hit.....
The alarm sounded as the first Covenant ship entered the system. All of the ODSTs' were scrambled to their modified drop pod Pelicans. These new Pelicans released small pods of ODSTs, but the best one- Alpha-5-was reserved for the 101st Urban Corps' 7th platoon, a.k.a. "Street Punks". The 'Punks were the most hardcore and well trained group in the ODSTs, passed only by the SPARTANs. As its name suggests these guys are the best in street fighting, ranking 1st in all of the UNSC's ODSTs. Corporal Pierce, the platoon's main morale booster was 6' 2'', had black hair and laser dyed green eyes and 195 pounds of pure muscle. Sergeant Chang was 7', and at 214 pounds, had Black hair also with black eyes. Lance Corporal Williams was 5' 9'', and at 157 lb., was the runt of the team. Both of the Gunnery Sergeants Marcus were twins, at 6' and 236 lb., each with red hair, which only strengthened the belief that they liked to blow shit up, and blue eyes. Everyone else was between 18-21 lb. each, and at 6'-6' 9''.
Fortunately, the pod's EMP hardened shell protected the 'Punks, but the Pelican burst into flames. As the pod sped down toward its destination-New Mombassa-the ODSTs checked, readied, and loaded their weapons. Sergeant Chang got his SMGs readied, while LC Williams readied his S-5 Sniper Rifle. This new rifle had a 15x zoom capability, and it had 8 rounds in a clip instead of 4. Everyone else readied their sidearm, Battle Rifles and Shotguns. The pod landed right on top of a Covenant SpecOps team-literally. "Poor bastards," Chang remarked "But damn good we got the fuel rod guns!" Sure enough, 2 fuel rod guns were salvaged from the wreck of Grunts, and the Gunnery Sergeants hefted 1 each along with their M-19 SSM Rocket Launchers. "Okay boys, here's the plan," Sarge told the ODSTs "There's a Covie cruiser up there that's just waiting to be blown to hell. We have to take the grav lift up, go to the bridge, and blow this hunk of shit up, Got it?" "Yes sir!" the 'Punks shouted in unison. As the 'Punks moved through the streets noisily, they encountered little resistance. "Man, where the hell are the Covie bastard," Pierce screamed after knifing a Grunt with his combat knife "I want to kill them ALL!" Just then, a bolt of plasma hit the ground next to him. "Carbines!" Chang shouted "Take cover!" "Williams, get to the top of that building and take out the Jackals," Chang ordered "Pierce, you're with me, everybody else, move when I give the signal. Now MOVE!" As Williams hurried up the building, Pierce and Chang ran into one of the buildings where the Jackals sniped. They snuck up on 2 Jackals, and butt whacked them with their BRs. "Pierce, grab a Carbine and start to snipe" Chang ordered as 4 cracks from Williams's sniper rifle filled the air. Pierce peered through the scope, sighted a Jackal, and fired. Pieces of burnt brain flew on the neighboring Jackal's Carbine, causing him to flinch. Will saw the movement, and another Jackal was KIA. In a matter of seconds the area was secure. "Nice job, Will," Pierce congratulated as he handed him a Carbine "thought you might like a gift." "Thanks." Will replied. "Okay, were about 1 klick away from the cruiser," Chang notified the men "it looks like there are a couple of Ghosts over there. Let's jack some."
Naraz' Whezumee was getting impatient. "Where the Underworld are those stinking humans!" he screamed as the engineers repaired his Ghost at the outpost. Around him, Grunts in Maintenance or orange armor jittered around him, while 3 Brutes, 5 blue elites and 10 Jackals stood guard. Just as he spoke, a Brute fell before his feet, minus its head. The next thing Naraz saw was his own brains, before he fell to the ground, dead.
"2 head shots!" Will yelled as Naraz fell" "Take out the Brutes and Elites before they get into the Ghosts!" Chang clicked over the COM. Unfortunately, A lucky Brute got onto a Ghost and started trying to ram the ODSTs. It made a fatal mistake when it tried to hit one of the Marcuses. Marcus jumped up, kicked the Brute off, and turned the Ghost around, which sent its previous owner crashing into the Jackals that were bunched up. The mass of Covenant hit some plasma tanks, which ruptured and burned them all to hell. "11 kills in one swing, new record!" Marcus yelled as Pierce took out 2 elites with 4 three-round bursts from his BR. The other Marcus ran up to the rest of the Elites, took out his rocket launcher, and batted them all into a building. "Home Run!" he cheered as the Grunts finally had some courage and fired at him. That killed them all, as the rest of the ODSTs killed them each with a headshot. Okay, we took out the resistance, now we head on over the ship," Chang told his men "switch to your shotguns, and get ready for boarding action." "Man, if Lock Lear were here I know the one thing he would definitely say right now." Pierce mentioned. "What's that?" Marcus-1 asked. "Easy," Pierce replied "Penetrate and Annihilate!" To be continued...
Oh, and I hope I got the code right. Next one may have some SPARTANs.

Urban Warfare Ch. 2: Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire Author Note: Thanks for all of the comments, guys. I hope this is an improvement over the last one. I've tried to make the ODSTs as real as possible, so I don't want any criticism about their personalities, especially you, Helljumper. Point out any mistakes, Piz, and Enjoy! And i know this is short, but i was tired, it was night, and i had school the other day.
1925 hours, September 15, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)In Covenant/UNSC controlled New Mombassa, near unknown Covenant cruiser
"Goddamnit, there must be thousands of Covies down there!" Pierce whispered over to Sergeant Chang over the COM "and even if we had a Fury, we'd still have to deal with those bastards in the cruiser!" "Just deal with it Pierce!" Chang replied "Antonio, get that rappelling gear ready!" Pfc. Antonio hurried away and grabbed the ropes and magnetic pads from where the 'Punks had hidden their stolen Ghosts. At 176 lb. Pfc. Antonio was the best runner and climber this team had to offer. His height (6' 5") was also proof of his amazing rappelling abilities. "Sir, I have a suggestion" "What's that?" "We can use the Ghosts as a distraction. We can set them on a straight course through the ground troops stationed under the grav lift, and use the captured Fuel Rod Guns to blow big holes in where the Ghosts didn't run over, and toss them like frag grenades, while the rest of the team climbs up to a maintenance hatch on the cruiser's hull. The Marcuses can fire them directly at our position right now, because the guns are supposed to arc anyway" " Good idea, Private. Okay team, listen up. Were going to make it look like a nuke hit this spot fast and hard. Those Covenant sons-of-bitches are going to burn under our feet. Pierce, get those Ghosts set for plowing a straight line trough the Covies. Marcus and Marcus, get positioned on the ceiling with the fuel rod guns. Everybody else, get your rappelling gear on." Having received their orders, 7th platoon snapped into action. Everyone got their rappelling gear on, while Pierce got the Ghosts .positioned. The Marcus bros got ready, and the magnetic pads for the ropes landed quietly and silently on the ship's hull.
Yawaz walked around the former plaza of Mombassa. Going about his patrol. As a red armored Grunt, he had superiority- even over some blue-clad Elites. As he was walking, he saw a glint in the distance. Before he could scream a loud grunty scream or shout that he had wet himself, he was run over by a Ghost. The last thing he ever thought was sucking at a food nipple in his frozen homeworld, Gruntoria.
"Go, Go, Go!!" Chang yelled as all hell broke loose. The Marcus twins fires their fuel rod guns until they were depleted, activated the fail safes and tossed them into the horde of Covenant. The guns blew with the forces of frag grenades, with one landing near a grenade storehouse, causing a chain reaction. All of the plasma grenades blew, making a huge hole in the Covenant ranks. In the midst of all this confusion, Grunts panicked and shot anyone and everything, and a couple even stuck plasma grenades to Elites. It was total chaos for the Covies, but heaven for the ODSTs. As the 'Punks made their way up the hull, Chang noticed that the shields were not up in the first place. Maybe there is a Prophet onboard, or somebody important to them. Maybe it's time for Martha to show her face. "Sir, there's a hatch up ahead." "Good. Santiago, work your magic" "Yes sir" At 6'2" and 189lb., Santiago was the electronics genius surpassed only by the AI Cortana herself. He hacked into the hatch controls in a sec, and the seals opened in no time. All of them dropped down the hatch, only to come face to face with a pack of 5 Grunts. A few quick shots with Chang's Shotgun finished them. But it captured the attention of a nearby pack of Elites, who immediately charged and hit several of the Marines. As if they were jerked by God, the Marines were pulled to cover behind a pile of crates. "Okay men," Chang breathed "were out of the frying pan and in the fire." To be continued...
Look, if u think this is bad, don't whine about it please. Just tell me how to improve and I will take it into consideration. Hope u liked it.
Urban Warfare Ch.3: To the Belly of the Beast
Date: 4 July 2004, 8:08 PM
Urban Warfare Ch.3: To the Brain of the Beast 1945 hours, September 15, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)In Covenant/UNSC controlled New Mombassa, inside unknown Covenant cruiser
"Fire in the hole!" Chang yelled as he tossed a frag grenade into a group of Elites that were holding up their advance to the bridge of the cruiser. Pierce quickly fired off 3 rounds, which impacted into the head of the forward Elite, and ducked. A boom was heard, and a helmet of a red Elite flew over the crates 7th Platoon was using for cover. "A souvenir." Pierce remarked as he picked it up and put it into his pack. Santiago peered over the crates, saw a Grunt trying to toss a plasma grenade over, and hit his methane breather with his pistol. The methane leaked out and burned an Elite who fired his Carbine. The plasma ignited the methane, and cleared the passageway. 'Martha, can you access the ship's schematics?" Chang whispered to the AI in his modified helmet. "Yep, I have the schematics" "Good. Then where's the bridge?" "Take a left in the next corridor, and then a right. The lift after that will take you directly to the bridge. I'll secure the COM channels and black out the cameras to cover our tracks. I've also intercepted communiqués that there is a Prophet on board. I recommend capturing him and bringing him back to headquarters for interrogation, or for forcing the Covenant into peace negotiations" "Good. 'Punks, haul ass!" As they took a left, they ran into a large patrol of 8 Jackals. The Jackals were taken in surprise, so Chang, Pierce, and the twins Marcus managed to whack 5, while the others landed head shots. The 3 surviving Jackals immediately activated their shields and raised them, and fired. Williams charged forward, dodged a couple of pot shots, leapt over their shields, and used his pistol to finish them off. "Nice moves, Will." Pierce observed as they entered the lift "Thanks, I used to take karate when I was younger"
Ship Master Anka 'Yourmomzee was furious. First he lost contact with the bulk of his ground troops, then he heard that there were infidels on his Purifier-class cruiser, the Prevailing Truth. He was worried that if the infidels reached the bridge, they would kill, or worse, capture and foul the holy Prophet with their unclean hands. "Is there something wrong, Ship Master?" The Prophet of Glory asked. "Of course not, Your Excellency" "Then how come there are Infidels reaching the bridge?" Anka was horrified at these words. He immediately contacted security to send a SpecOps team down at once to supplement the current guard of 5 Elites, 7 Jackals, and 10 Grunts. Just as the command left his mandibles, the lift doors opened, revealing the ODSTs.
The Marines immediately took cover behind the gigantic pillars that circled the central platform. Pierce, Chang and Antonio managed to drop 2 Grunts and an Elite before ducking behind some crates. The rest of the guard opened fire, blowing big holes into the pillars in the process. Williams managed to circle strafe the preoccupied Covies, and bushwhacked 4 Grunts and 3 Jackals silently and without a trace. Unfortunately, one of the Grunts saw him as he took cover and squealed excitedly. That was his final act before getting his head blown to pieces by Will. By this time, the Gold Elite noticed Will also, and charged with his plasma sword activated and shields up. Will immediately sidestepped and grabbed the Elite's sword's handle, and managed to deactivate it, wretch it out of his hand by punching the Ship Master in the face, and tuck it into his belt. Then he kicked him in the cheek, and used his pistol to knock him unconscious. At this time, the rest of the Covenant saw him, and opened fire. Will managed to dodge 5 blasts, but a 6th one hit him squarely in the chest. The armor crackled and boiled slightly, but held. Because they were distracted, the rest of the team fired off headshots, ending the battle. "Damn, is this ugly son of a bitch in a coma?" Pierce whispered while looking straight into the face of the Prophet. "Shut your hole Marine, he's just afraid were going to kill him. In fact, I'd like to strangle him right now if he weren't so valuable." Chang replied as he slid Martha into the cruiser's mainframe. "Much better." Martha observed as she popped up on one of the screens "Sergeant, there's an incoming SpecOps team. I'll lock the doors and vent the atmosphere on the corridors leading to the bridge." "Than how the hell are we going to get out" "The Covenant are experimenting with some teleportation grid. This cruiser, the Prevailing Truth was on an archaeological dig before Slipspacing here. I've copied down the info and erased it from the ship's database. I've also copied down all of the technology schematics and am setting up the Self-Destruct sequence now. There, that's done, now yank me." Chang yanked Martha out and addressed the ODSTs. "Men, were about to leave this ship and head on back to base. I was assigned an AI before we left, and had to keep it secret. This AI-Martha-will teleport us and the Prophet over to headquarters. Thumb on the safeties and get ready to head on home." As the team teleported, Will heave a sigh. Looks like we've been to the brain of the beast he thought, as he was whisked away to Sydney.

Urban Warfare Ch. 4: Briefing and Departure

Urban Warfare Ch. 4: Briefing and Departure Author's Note: Sorry this took so long-I've been preoccupied lately. Hope u like this. (My Russian accenting is very bad, I admit it myself). And I am clueless as to naming Jackals.
0600 hours, September 18, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)at Marine base Tango, in UNSC controlled San Francisco
"So what you're telling me is that Admirals Windsley, Chavez, and General Hoffmann are captured and are being held in Earth City?! But that place is the most heavily guarded area of the entire world!!" the newly field-commissioned Lieutenant Chang bawled. "Vit's true Lieutenant, I couldn't believe it myself. But vacts are vacts. Apparently the Covenant targeted Earth City first. Ve need you to assemble 7th Platoon ASAP. 2nd Platoon and 9th Platoon are also gonna tag along, and ve've scrounged up some of these babies for you to play with." Just as the words exited General Yuri's mouth, a rack of strange black suits with some visible armor plating seen on it were reeled in. "Vhese are new MJOLNIR Vark VI Beta Stealth Suits. Vhecc-sighed to vithstand half ze pounding a normal can, but with our active chameflaughe. Ve techs vill show you how to activate zem. Vood luck Lieutenant, ve are counting on it"
0630 hours, September 18, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)at Marine base Tango, in UNSC controlled San Francisco "Okay men, saddle up. These new suits are pretty good, based on what the techs have shown me. The suits have camouflage" Chang flipped a switch on the belt of his suit "and have shielding, " Pierce fired a round of pistol fire into Chang's leg, and the slug was caught by the shield "but they can only take half the punch a normal MJOLNIR Mark VI Suit can, which should work, considering that's 3 times how much our old suits could." "Now, remember that were going into a huge Covenant base. We have to do this as quietly as possible, and that means very little kills. 2nd and 9th are going to tag along, giving us backup. Keep your mouths shut, camo on, and your buddy in check. Now gear up and get ready." Chang left the briefing room, followed closely by 7th Platoon, as they readied for their next mission, one which was sure to casualties. The team geared up for stealth. Everyone took a pistol with a silencer as primary, with the exception of Will, and a BR with a silencer as secondary, in case things went wrong. They were dropping down via HEV pods, while the cruiser San Francisco barraged the area with missile fire, thus making the Covenant unaware of the HEV pods.
0945 hours, September 18, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)onboard UNSC cruiser San Francisco, in Pod Bay 12 Chang and Pierce got into their pods just after the barrage began. They would be dropping after the bombardment, to eliminate the risk of friendly fire. Intel had reported that the Covenant had not destroyed most of the buildings, but merely used the huge plaza as a camping ground. The bombardment was carefully planned-a hundred UNSC ships engaged a small fleet of Covenant ships around Jupiter to provide a diversion while the San Franciscodestroyed the docked carrier above Earth City and the ground troops around the plaza. The brass's last known coordinates were located and identified as an old subway tunnel. The Helljumpers would land approximately a klick away from the Admirals and General, but the route would have to take them underground. As the pods screamed down toward Earth City, the team went through the normal procedures for a mission. All equipment was checked and rechecked, as well as every weapon. As they neared the destination, Chang clicked the COM. "Alright men, this is a clean operation. I don't want to see any of you getting cocky and try to knife a Brute. Get ready-we're coming in hard!" "Sir, yes sir!"
Rawk the Jackal was tired and grumpy. He hadn't been able to take off his helmet in a tak unit. Also, he missed his hatchlings and his Mate. He grunted in discontent as he kept on his patrol. Suddenly a wisp of infidel entered his beak. He turned around to a pistol barrel slamming into his helmet, knocking him out. The last thing he thought of was his Death Ritual.
"Ugh, I hate not killing Covies." Pierce grunted "Especially the Jackals. Man, one of them killed Alex." "Suck it up, Pierce" Chang replied "it's not like they wanted to fight. Hell, they might have started a rebellion if they had the right stuff, but those damn Grunts are like chicken. And the Jackals are loners." "Yeah, whatever" As the party moved on, they encountered more and more resistance. Finally, they clawed their way to the subway entrance closest to the brass. The guard was easily removed, but unfortunately, their active camo generators had overheated and had to cool down. "Aww, man" Will groaned as his camo fizzled and died "those things were like angels from heaven." "Squad, we got to move on-they could be getting closer to the brass by the second." "Damn it, were never going to get through this shit" a 2nd platoon private mumbled. Little did he know that he would not live to see the next day.

Urban Warfare: Ch. 5: John
Date: 19 July 2004, 4:43 AM
Urban Warfare Ch. 5: John b]1000 hours, September 18, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)in Covenant controlled Earth City, near the Cole Street Subway Stop
7th Platoon-along with it's allies-waded through the subway tunnel. Apparently, the excavators accidentally cut through a sewage pipe, causing the tunnel to flood up to Pierce's knees. Some drowned Grunts and an Engineer were also seen, showing that the pipe was under extreme pressure. "God, these people better be worth it," Pierce observed "cause they are going to pay for my dry cleaning" "Shhhhhh!" Chang stopped and crawled forward to a large cavern, with a huge pile of boulders at the end, full of worker Grunts and Engineers, but with a huge guard of fifteen blue Elites, twenty Jackals, forty-one Grunts, and eight Hunters!! "Damn, these Covies really want whoever is stuck behind that wall." Santiago whispered to the Marcus twins. "Okay guys, I want the Martins to take out the Hunters first, and Williams to take out as many Jak-" Chang's orders were cut off when the 2nd Platoon private opened fire on some sleeping Grunts. He managed to take out 5, but he was already dead. The Hunters, Jackals and Elites all opened fire on the charging Private, vaporizing him, and glassing the ground nearby him. "Fuck!" Chang swore as the Covenant troops immediately became alert, and three Elites, five Jackals, and eight Grunts started to come toward them. "Screw this" Chang muttered to himself, "Open Fire!!" As the fight began, the patrol sent out was immediately targeted first. Chang managed to send a three-round burst into the lead Elite's elongated helmet. The first pair of rounds busted his shields, and the last one sent bits of brain flying into the Grunts' faces. This caused them to go into a panic and shot their own teammates. 2 Jackals fell to friendly fire, but by then the pair of Elites managed to organize the diminutive soldiers. As a Grunt primed a plasma grenade, Will sent a shot straight into its methane breather, as the plasma grenade detonated. The entire patrol was engulfed in the brilliant blue-orange flames, burning them all. Now the entire enemy was alert. The digging Grunts immediately grabbed weapons, boosting the Grunt strength to fifty as the Jackals formed a protective circle around the Elites, who were ordering the Grunts into position. The Elites must have been very focused on giving orders, or else they would have managed to dodge the incoming rockets. "Haha, thirty-two kills with four rockets! Nice!" The Marcus twins shouted in unison. The quad of rockets managed to kill a Hunter, four Elites, nine Jackals, and eighteen Grunts. Now the enemy force was very confused and wounded, but the Hunters managed to catch a glimpse of the Marcuses. They roared and bombarded 7th Platoon's cover with sizzling bolts of energy. The boulders shuddered under the pressure, but miraculously held. "Concentrate fire on the Hunters!" Chang clicked on the COM. The rounds of the group's battle rifles just pinged off the Hunter's armor and shields, but the Hunters were obliterated by the incoming barrage of six rockets, two from each platoon. The hail of bullets that came next was so powerful, it knocked the enemy force down to sixteen Grunts, two Jackals, and four Elites. But by now, the enemy was organized. They returned fire just as the ODSTs were ducking. A PFC and two Privates were killed by the barrage of plasma fire. An incoming grenade stuck to a 9th Platoon soldier, and he had just enough time to scream his head off when it blew, wounding a nearby Sergeant. "Medic on the front!" Pierce yelled as LC Grady rushed to the Sergeant. He gave him a shot of morphine and some biofoam, and then told him that he was good to go. The group was mopping up the rest of the covenant when Martha spoke to Chang. "I've been monitoring Covenant communications-they were going crazy when they lost contact with the excavators. They are sending in a strike team to find out what happened!" "Then we better hurry." Chang replied. "Marcus and Marcus, get that C-7 over here and blow this rock wall!" "Sir, Yes Sir!" The Marcus twins set the explosives in a flash. They sprayed the essential parts of the wall, and inserted the detonators, which were on 10 seconds. "Fire in the hole!" the explosion rattled Chang's teeth. As the boulders finally rolled away, and the dust and smoke cleared, he saw the admirals and the general, along with most of the staff, come out with their guns at the ready. "Admiral Windsley, Admiral Chavez, and General Hoffmann, we're here to rescue you. We better leave now." Chang informed the confused brass and their staff as they stepped out. "Hell, son, I gotta thank you. This was pretty good work, Admiral Windsley commented on the dead Covenant "but there's one more person behind." [indent}As the Admiral spoke these words, a figure moved in the haze, quick as a cat. It was SPARTAN-117, John.

Urban Warfare Ch. 6: Why... Author note: I know the attitude toward the Spartans is supposed to be rough, but I wanted to give the feeling that the situation was so desperate even ODSTs could use a hand. (Helljumper, I'll put in some anti-Spartan stuff later on). Enjoy! (Oh, and I can't seem to post comments. {Don't ask} E-mail me at industrial_avatar@yahoo.com)
1100 hours, September 18, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)in Covenant controlled Earth City, inside the Cole Street Subway Stop "Good to see you Chief, we could use a hand. Those Covenant bastards took out quite a few of our group." Chang whispered thoughtfully "I know you think ODSTs are supposed to be rude toward Spartans, but we've learned not to mess with you." "Thank you." The MC replied after salvaging a plasma rifle and a needler from the Covenant casualties. All of the other former-captives did the same-taking weapons from the deceased Grunts, Jackals, and Elites. The trip to the surface was quick, and at the top, Chang radioed the San Francisco to pick them up. "Chang to San Francisco, we have the brass and need pickup." "Dropships Echo-066, 048, and 028 are on the way. Also sending a squadron of Longswords for escort. Extraction zone is the old post office" "Roger that" As the group made their way towards the post office, they encountered little resistance. However, they did come upon a group of Hunters and Brutes. Along the way, Chang found a glowing sphere in the dirt. Chang quickly pocketed it and they set off once more. Unfortunately, the Covenant wanted the sphere back. A huge group of Covenant chased the retreating group of survivors. "Goddamnit!" Pierce yelled "This makes the 150th look like a tea party!" as he dropped 3 grunts with headshots. Chang quickly primed a grenade, waited a second, and tossed it. The wall he was using as cover was sprayed with Grunt blood. As for Will, he got a nice perch on a tower a few decameters off. 5 Elites, 4 Hunters, 6 Brutes, 10 Jackals, and 2 Grunts fell to his Sniper Rifle. The Marcus twins leaned to the left and right of their cover, and blasted a closely cropped group of Elites and Jackals to whatever hell they believed in. Santiago used his pistol to down a pair of Brutes with headshots, and finished off a group of Grunts with the rest of his clip. He noticed that one Grunt's methane breather was leaking, so he chucked a grenade over into the mass of dead Grunts. That leaking methane tank exploded, causing a chain reaction. The flames leapt from one Grunt to another, causing their meth tanks to burst and spew fire like a Carrier Form spews Infection Forms. The flames leapt onto the rest of the group, and burned them all. Those who were no killed were mowed down by 2nd and 9th Platoons people, while7th Platoon and the brass went on to secure the post office. Just as they rounded the corner to the post office, they stumbled upon an ambush! "Crap! Take covor!" General Hoffmann yelled as he dived toward a ruined wall. The rest of the team did the same. "Sir, we have to secure the area. I'm going to lead a small team to flank them." Chang conferred with the general "Vo ahead, but go quickly!" "Yes sir! Pierce, Martin, D'Arguello, come with me!" "The small band weaved their way through the battered ruins of the once proud capital, finally getting behind the Covenant. They quickly switched to their silenced pistols, and used them to pick off the Brutes and Hunters. Unfortunately, one of Chang's shots accidentally pinged off a Hunter's armor, alerting it to their presence. The Hunter roared a warning to his comrades, and fired his fuel rod gun. Chang was too close to the blast, and got injured. Luckily, Pierce managed to pull him out. By this time, half of the entire Covenant squad turned toward the flankers. Privates Martin and D'Arguello quickly tossed al of their frag grenades, which exploded, spewing Covie gore all over them. One of the grenades managed to ignite a plasma grenade, because somehow, 3 brilliant blue flashes flared up, then ceased. "Where you hit, sir?" Pierce asked during the heat of battle. "You won't believe it; my ass..." Chang groaned as he fell into unconsciousness. "Damnit, Lieutenant?! Sir!?" The flanking team quickly pulled out. Since they couldn't leave the Lieutenant behind, Pierce kicked down the door to a relatively intact building and used it as a stretcher to carry Chang to a medic. Pvt. Martin helped, while D'Arguello covered them. When they reached the main group, they found 2nd and 9th Platoons helping the brass out. The battle was to lopsided, and the humans began to take casualties. A 9th Platoon LC was the first to go, as a Plasma Grenade welded to his armor. As a final act, he ran into the mob of Covenant with his suit's fail-safe activated. The resulting blast knocked a fifth of the enemy group (as an afterthought-he would get a posthumous Medal of Honor) But even that didn't stop the onslaught. When the Covenant were just about to overrun the small defense, # Pelicans appeared, and fired their chin guns and a threesome of Anvil-III missiles. Those that were not killed by the guns were blown by the missiles. The battle-scarred group ran onboard the Pelicans, and zoomed off to the cruiser. As they climbed up, Pierce took a look at Chang, whose left leg was torn open. "Why..."he muttered, "Why....."

Urban Warfare Ch.7: Pushin' em' Back 1435 hours, October 2, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)onboard UNSC battleship Thor, en route to intercept CCS Battle group, codenamed Gamma-3 "Okay, Chief, what's this meeting for? You know we ODSTs don't like Spartans, but were an exception." Santiago asked patiently. "You people have a new mission. One that will hopefully end this war for good." Admiral Hood told Santiago "Admiral Chavez here is going to explain it" "Thank you Admiral. Now, as you may recall, you have captured a Covenant Prophet before. Well the intelligence gathered from him was very helpful, and we even got grav technology from his throne. Now, the Covenant have not agreed to a truce, and those Covenant leaders are dumb enough to deploy all of their troops-save a guard-from their home world. You people are to accompany the Spartans in capturing-alive-all of these Prophets, while we hold our ground here. Because they fear injuring their leader they will not attack immediately. This will hopefully secure a cease-fire and peace negotiations, ending this war." "This mission will be divided into four phases." "Phase One: The Thor will intercept and disable all of the ships in the Gamma-3 CCS Battle Group. We will then launch two dropships with you people in them." "Phase Two: The Spartans will board one ship, and capture it, 7th Platoon the other. The last ship will be captured together, and then Cortana will signal for the Thor to return. We will then send over Engineers and reinforcements, to repair one ship, using parts from the others if we have to." "Phase Three: You will take the ship to Covenant space and toward their home world. "Phase Four: The capture of the Covenant leadership, and the pressurization of the Covenant to stand down and negotiate peace settlements. Any questions?" "Sir, will Lieutenant Chang be accompanying us?" Pierce asked sternly "Sorry Corporal, Chang is in rehabilitation for his wounds. Because of this, we have promoted you to the rank of Sergeant." Admiral Chavez replied, as he handed Pierce two bands "Congratulations, Sergeant Pierce."
"Sir, we have intercepted the Covenant battle group." Martha told Admiral Hood. "Good. Bring the MAC guns online, and unlock the new plasma weapons system. And bring the experimental shields up. I want to give those bastards a taste of their own medicine. And Martha.." "Yes, Admiral" "Send over the Jack-o-Lanterns" I've already begun."
"Sir, you better see this" Ensign Tawley told Lieutenant Hayes, as the small screen in front of him flashed the words" Fire the dud" "Okay, send over the virus" "Yes sir. Unzipping files. Beaming over in 5..."
"Bring her to starboard, and fire the Plasma cannons!" barked Admiral Hood as the shields dropped. Although the Thor had shields and Covenant weapons, it was still weak against 3 Covenant cruisers. As the Thor maneuvered away, five Plasma Bolts streaked toward it and....missed. "Barrington, give me 110% power to the engines now!" "Aye Sir!" "Martha, calculate a trajectory for 2 of our plasma missiles-impact them directly into the second destroyer's aft turrent." "Aye Sir." The Thormaneuvered towards the second cruiser as the first disabled cruiserfloated lifelessly past. Martha calculated the trajectory perfectly-the first missile downed the already weakened shields, and the second blew the turrent to smithereens.
"7th Platoon, this mission will test you all. We are notSpartans, and we never will or want to be. These Covie bastards found Earth, and Those Prophets are so willing to rip it from our hands. Well, I don't care if these "Prophets" aren't sons-of-bitches, they are goin down! We will rip the heads off anyone or anything that stands in our way, and use them as bowling balls to knock those Grunts off their tiny little feet! Am I right, 7th Platoon?!" Pierce bawled out. "Sir, Yes Sir!" 7th Platoon shouted in unison" "I knew I was right. Now get to those Pelicans and get gear stowed in two minutes, 'cause today is payback for Chang."
"Okay Spartans, we've had this mission scrubbed before, but this is it. We've been together since we were kids, and I know that we will help save her. Sergeant Johnson will be accompanying us, as I have requested. Get ready for boarding action-and remember, for every Spartan that fell in battle, we will make the Covenant pay with a thousand of theirs." The MC said solemnly. "Damn right Master Chief!" Johnson applauded. "Now I want gear stowed in 30 seconds, and we'll be heading to the Pelican in 3 minutes."
"Sir, all Covenant craft are disabled. The teams are in the Pelicans and are waiting for confirmation to launch." "Launch them, Andrew" "Aye Sir"
"You know you don't need to shake like that, Pierce. I can't process properly with you shaking you're ass off." Martha teased. "Shut it Martha, I think the Chief is having a better ride than us. Marcus and Marcus, get that cutting equipment ready." "Yes Sir!" The ODSTs entered the fallen cruiser's hull, into the demoralizing darkness. Little did they know that they had taken the bait, and the Covenant were reeling it in... To Be Continued... Note:if u think this is crappy, post a comment or pm me to tell me how to improve it!

Urban Warfare Ch. 8: Wait! It Gets Worse! 1500 hours, October 2, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)onboard Unidentified Covenant cruiser Author Note: I'm a little rusty from all the schoolwork I've been doing. This is as a polisher, but still into my series. Enjoy! (Also, I'm changing the storyline a bit to match Halo 2. The only big change would have to be no Spartans. That's it, and the rest are little tweaks.
"Maintain Radio Silence, team" 15 acknowledgement lights winked on Pierce's HUD, and a series of clicks as the team shut down their COM equipment. Although small, the older Type 54661 COM packs used a lot of energy, nearly 25 % of the M-943's energy reserves. The Street Punks moved stealthily toward the Bridge, unaware of the lone Covenant Brute following them.
'Ika 'Nacktnech stared out of the bleak prison cell that held him and 2 Grunts prisoner. The rest of his loyal crew-the ones that followed him in the Great Revelation-also sat, dome sleeping. A pair of Hunters, Okuru Pato Naktu and his bond brother, Kipa Fato Rotu sat, their white Queik forms exposed, which were normally covered by the enormous fuel rod cannons they carried. He sat dejectedly, and took off his elongated gold helmet.
"Wait, stop here" Martha told Pierce, "I've been monitoring Covenant chatter. Apparently the Elites, Grunts and Hunters have broken away from the Covenant and the Covenant is engaged in a civil war. If we can get the Elites and company on our side, we can win this war." "Any idea on how we can do that?" Pierce asked. "We can start by releasing the prisoners stuck in the Brig. It's not far from here. Uploading Nav point to your HUD." "Okay. Listen up team, we're going to make a prison break. Apparently the Covies are busy killing themselves right now, but the Elites on this ship are prisoners. Let's bust open the box and rescue the chickens."
'Ika heard the doors open before the Brutes did. So, the Jiralhanae quad dropped, 2 of them headless. After a moment, one of the Human prisoners yelled "Hey, about time you came to bust us outta the joint", and a human walked up the brig controls and set him free. Immediately the Hunters rushed forward to charge the Humans, but 'Ika immediately halted them with a loud grunt. He walked up to Pierce, and shook his hand.. Thank you for coming to rescue us. I have long held a suspicion that this war was not worth the price. Seems now we are at civil war because of it." Me too. Pierce's the name, and we'll intro the rest of the team later." Pierce handed 'Ika a plasma rifle" Right now it seems like we have to get you your ship back." Ika nodded, turned his rifle to the doorway, and fired a three round burst of plasma. The burning blue bolts hit the face of the Brute that had been spying on the 'Punks, and killed it instantly. "You can pay that debt later."
After the Hunters had their fuel rod cannons reinstalled, the prisoner Marines given shotguns and SMGs, and the Grunts armed with weapons from a crate in the brig, Ika took an Energy Blade from the Brute captain. "I shall take my group to the bridge. You must lead your ban to secure the engine complex. Otherwise the Brutes will sabotage it. We must keep those areas under control until you can get reinforcements." Ika informed Pierce. "Sure, and you'll have to get me one of those butter knives." Ika grinned and led his troops out of the Brig.
Surprisingly, there was no resistance on the way to the engine room. But once there, however, the 'Punks had more than enough to deal with. Drones buzzed around the huge reactors, and some were stationed at stations monitoring their status and Jackals patrolled around the Control Center, while Brutes worked on lifting some damaged parts for the Engineers to repair. Will took the initiative and sniped three Brutes with some steady *crack*s. The rest of the Covenant-minus the Engineers-were startled by this, but the ODSTs already engaged their active camouflage. Jackal throats were slit, and Drones seemed to slam into walls, until the camo shorted out and the humans had to deal with the rest of the Covies the hard way. By now the Jackals had realized this onslaught and formed a defensive ring around the control area, and the Brutes took positions behind them, while the Drones stuck to the walls of the reactors. As soon as Antonio fired a burst from his Battle Rifle, which hit a Drone squarely in its furry head, the real fight began. Across the chip, at the bridge, 'Ika blew the doors to the Bridge, and activated his Energy Blade. The Hunters bashed through the crates blocking the doorway, and covered their weak areas with their enormous shields as a barrage of plasma hit them. Their Fuel Rod Cannons sparked green, and incinerated rows of Jackals and a Brute. Ika grinned. It was payback time

Urban Warfare Ch. 9: Maybe the End, Maybe it Ain't 1530 hours, October 2, 2552 (revised date, Military Calendar)onboard Unidentified Covenant cruiser Thanks for all the comments guys, I've taken my time on this one, 'cause I have some breathing space now. Hope you like it!
Pierce winced as another bolt of red plasma lanced over his head, and splattered molten metal as it connected with the wall. He prayed to God that Will could take out the Brutes that were laying down the suppressive fire. Antonio was already down with a burn on his leg, and Santiago had taken one to the shoulder. He turned his head to see the Marcus twins. Using their Rocket Launcher's scope to aim their rockets, and not putting themselves in harms way, they were able to take out quite a few of those Brutes.
Suddenly, a steady stream of eight cracks echoed through the heated air, resulting in wet, dull thuds, as the apes fell, headless. Pierce peered over the crate he was using for cover, and saw a mass of dead Brutes, their helmets each punctured with a .95 caliber hole.
I owe you a beer, Will Pierce thought.
Pierce peered at his motion tracker. It was green across the border. He pointed toward the control center, and motioned for Marcus to cover him. Crouching silently, he crawled over to the gore splattered panel, and booted up the backup generators.
"Ika, you have power up now."
Ika was standing on the gore-splattered command island.
"Ika, you have power up now."
Ika grinned, and tapped his foot. The situation was far from ideal, as the Prophet of Victory had found this ship, and as with the rest of their foul brethren, was coming to eliminate him. For Ika had a close secret-one that could end the revolution if revealed. Ika tapped the COM system.
"Good job brother, but we have a problem. A Dreadnought is coming."
"What the hell is a Dreadnought?" Pierce screamed through his COM
"A ship of rarity in the fleet. Only the Prophets can command one. And they have a reputation for destroying many ships."
"Master, Slipspace exit off the bow!"
Ika clicked his mandibles, and sighed. The image of the Dreadnought came up on his screen. It's twenty plasma turrets bristled, and Seraph fighters streamed out of its port bays. Plasma missile hard points glowed an eerie blue. "Pierce, we could fight this dreadnought, but we can't win. I have an idea, though."
"Something tells me I won't like this."
"We will collide into them, and, as you say, blow them all to hell."
Pierce grinned, and pulled a little crucifix from his pocket out. He nodded towards his comrades, his brothers in arms, who also heard the message. They nodded gravely.
"Ika, let our ship's divine wind blow them away, to the darkest depths of Hades."
Ika clicked his mandibles, and recited a line of the Scriptures etched into his mind
For thou shalt die with honour, and live in the Hall of Avatars...
Ika took out a small data pad, and listed the names of all the crew under his command, as well as a roster from Pierce that his had viewed. He tossed it into a escape pod, and programmed it for a burn to the Arbiter's coordinates.
Goodbye, brother
Ika sighed, and turned to his subordinates.
"We have come this far, only to meet an untimely end. I have admired your bravery, and your prowess in fighting and all of your talents. If there is any crew that could pilot the ships of the Gods, it is you. It has been a pleasure, but I will see you all in paradise!"
And with that the remnants of the crew let out a hearty roar.
On the other side of the ship, things were less poetic...
"Boys, when we left, we thought we could get this ship, take it, and end this war. Well, it ain't to be. Lemme jut tell you that you've been the best damned group of raggedy-ass Marines I have ever had the pleasure of being with. Now we're only missing a pack o' beers, but you'll all get that when we meet again in hell!"
And so, the remnants of 7th platoon celebrated the end of their life, with a hearty laugh.
Ika grinned as he saw the humans laugh.
Humans...humorous, to the last.
"Full power to the engines. Fire all weapons at their shield generators, and then ram the dreadnought."
The End...or is it?
Thanks for all your help guys. After a half-year, I decided that it was time to wrap it all up. I'm working on something else now, but you'll see it sometime in the near future. Oh, and I'M BAAAACCCKKK!!!
