Truth Behind the Reconciliation by Chief Vash

Truth Behind the Reconciliation: Act I
Date: 15 May 2005, 3:09 AM
The sweat dripped off the man's bleeding forehead. Inside his helmet was a constant heat haze of molecular activity. His eyes stung from acidic tears dripping slowly into his eyes. The thought of taking off his helmet to wipe them clear, morally angered the Chief. He shifted the pain of his eyes into the back of his head, and mentally destroyed the thoughts. His hands too, were sweaty and clumsy, or so he thought. He had exceptionally high standards of himself, and would never lower them for anyone, not even for his high commanders. Often, he took everything a bit too seriously, which one may think is good and honorable. However the Chief knew that he would one day lose his life to the high expectations of his body. The way he saw it, if he was a robot, he was only at 45% capacity and strength. He would, by the time he was at his last breath, be at 100%, and he knew he would go down fighting. A vision snapped back into the Chief's mind, and he saw a blurry image of what just occurred. Unsuspectingly, the Chief had walked into a room, pitch black, and seemingly unoccupied. The playback continued as the Chief walked and felt a sturdy surface under his foot. He remembered thinking that there was no way that this surface was a "friendly", so he continued to apply pressure until the surface gave, and the Chief could only imagine the squishy substance beneath his boot. The vision ended. The Chief was there, standing in the middle of the now lit room with a large bright light in the ceiling. He looked at the battle that he had apparently just missed, and looked at the switch that he had just flipped to turn on the massive light. Bodies lie around him as he eyed the ruins. He looked at what was under his boot and it appeared to have once been a poor Jackal. He wondered if he had ended it's life, or if he had merely crushed a corpse. He brushed off this useless thought, and continued to survey the seemingly empty room. No noise was heard in the room, except for the breathing that the Chief was doing himself. The Chief glared heavily at the room until he was satisfied with his inspection. Just in case however, he picked up a Plasma Pistol and fired three shots into each dead body, just to make sure. He dropped the 3/4 empty Plasma Pistol, and re-equipped his Assault Rifle. He gathered two more Plasma Grenades. The Chief felt he had spent enough time in this room, so he continued on to the next one. He walked through the door as it automatically slid open for him. In the center of this great large room was a giant platform. The Master Chief quickly hid behind the coverings next to the door so he could not be seen. The giant platform was empty, except for five circular pillars that were surrounding the edges of the platform. The pillars glowed a devilish blue, like many of the Covenant architectural objects. Also on top of the platform, a Gold Elite was walking around surveying the area for intruders. The Chief thought he must have heard him, but put off the thought since the sleeping Grunts were not disturbed. The Chief had learned quickly that the Grunts had superior hearing, or at least when they were sleeping. They were by no means, heavy sleepers. The Grunts were right next to the door, and in the corner some Invisible Elite's were lurking. He could only tell by the unmistakable floating Plasma Swords. He would say that there were at least three of them. So there were three Invis-Elites and one Gold Elite, and six sleeping Grunts next to him. The Chief was ready. The Chief unhinged a Plasma grenade from his hip belt. He activated it and gave it a good hard throw at the Gold Elite. Mid-flight in the air the Chief ran over to the Grunts. Quickly and efficiently he began to bash the butt of his rifle into their small fragile skulls. The blunt of the force itself could probably crush a car, and these Grunts had a slim to none chance of making it through. Two of the Grunts fell to MC's harsh hits. The Gold Elite took notice and pulled a 180 degree turn only to find a Plasma Grenade in-flight next to his face. Less than a second later it struck his face, Latched on, and the fear surged through his body. The only thing he could do is howl his last war cry ever, as he waited for impending death. The Plasma grenade exploded and the Elite's brain, skull, and head, along with his upper torso were scattered across the platform. Even some brain matter struck the completely bewildered Invis-Elites making them that much easier to spot. The Chief ran over to the rest of the grunts, bashed two more of their heads in, and chased the other ones down with a distinct dislike for mangling his enemy. After the last of them were dead, the chief focused his concentration on the Invis-Elites. The three of them were in the back of the room, more than 50 meters from the Chief. The Chief quickly pulled out his sniper rifle, and focused his aim on the nearest Elite. The Chief noticed the two similar ones that were seemingly lined up, and took his aim away from the nearest Elite to the one that could take out two in one shot. He knew that Elites were tough, much tougher than a single sniper bullet, but these Invis-Elites were not equipped with there regular shielding. They had no shields at all, making them easy to kill. The Chief took a blind aim at the head of the Invis-Elite and hoped the bullet to pass into him and threw the next one. The farthest Invis-Elite from the Chief was hiding behind the other one and seemed a little too sure of himself, and was acting as if he was hiding behind living cover. He growled his war growl as if to be intimidating. The Chief let out one single bullet. The bullet passed right through the soft armor of the first Elite in the line. The bullet had hit is respiratory organs, and passed right on through out the back of him leaving a large volleyball sized hole. The bullet continued into the still growling Elite and into his cranium. It was like passing through butter, as the bullet blew out the other side ripping the head of the Elite apart completely in a mushroom cloud of blood. The bullet found its final resting point in the wall. The first Elite hit in the lungs, double over to his knees and gasped for air. The far Elite's knees completely gave way as his limp body hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. His neck cavity oozed a dark purple blood which now covered the back wall and the surrounding area. Chunks of the Elite's head were scattered around the area. "Damn" the Chief thought, as he realized his fatal mistake. He should have reloaded his sniper rifle before using it the last time. There was no time to do that now, as the remaining Elite rushed toward him, arms and sword flailing. The Chief dropped his sniper rifle and flung the Assault Rifle back from over his shoulder to his hands, felt the tension of the trigger and took aim at his target. The Elite was much to close and his arm was up as if about to land a fatal blow. The Chief concentrated on the wavering air, but took a quick step back just in time to dodge a downward strike. He knew another upward strike would come immediately after and positioned his Assault Rifle as if to block the blow. The rifle was slashed into two unusable pieces, but slowed the velocity of the Plasma Sword enough for the Chief to be able to dodge it. The Chief had a quick thought of retreat in his mind. He could just run away, he knew that he was fast; maybe he could run around and grab a Plasma Pistol off of a dead Grunt? No, this is a one on one battle that he could not run away from. He loved a challenge, and was not about to do this the dishonorable way. He knew he could beat the Elite, because the Elite was going to make some sort of mistake soon, and the Chief would be ready when he did. The Elite decided to play the battle smart and backed one step away. He bent down slowly, yet never took his eyes away from the Chief. He picked up the Sniper Rifle the Chief had just dropped and threw it up into the air. He slashed at it in what seemed like four slashes, and the rifle fell to the ground in seven pieces. "Hmm..." the Chief thought. What a smart thing to do. The Elite gave out what appeared to be a smile. Thinking he had won, the Elite forgot the smarts that had gotten him to this point. He rushed the Chief in a heated blaze of glory. Only one thing could have caused such irrational behavior, the glory of killing the invincible, the glory of killing the one, the only Master Chief. The rewards of such a thing would be tremendous. The Chief knew that this would be his chance. The Elite continued forward as glory protruded his mind. The Elite lunged in for a stomach hit, a stab, not a slash. That was a foolish mistake. The Chief side stepped to the left and saw very clearly that the Elite's sword missed by several feet. The Elite was expecting to hit a solid surface and failing to do so forced him forward. The momentum of his lunge would be his downfall. The Chief was several feet from the sword, but the Elite's head was a mere foot by the Chief. The Chief landed a swift elbow to the Elite's face and flung him out of his fall. The blunt force of the blow released the grip of the Elite's hand and the Plasma Sword faded into a murky existence in the Chief's mind. The Elite landed hard and bounced across the ground this way and that. He skid across the room about five more meters until his shiny armored body came to a screeching halt when he slammed into the wall. The Chief had won the battle. He walked over to the motionless Elite and gave him a respecting nod of acceptance and honor. He showed his appreciation for that particular Elite's ability.
Truth Behind the Reconciliation: Act 2
Date: 15 May 2005, 3:13 AM
The Master Chief left the room after surveying it for scavengers and picking up a Plasma Pistol. He entered a hallway that shined a purple sheen. Light blue colors pulsated across the walls in a speedy fashion. The Chief walked quietly around the bends in the hall, peeked around corners, and killed the sleeping Grunts with efficient quietness. He came to a bend and peeked around. Two Jackals were pacing back and forth. One of the Jackals was a yellow shield, and the other a blue shield. Yellow shield was a higher rank in the hierarchy of the Covenant society. The Chief equipped his Plasma Pistol that he had gotten back in the platform room, and turned the corner to surprise the Jackals. One was mere meters from the Chief, and he ran forward at extreme speeds and bashed at the Jackal's neck. The Jackal's exposed back lead an instant kill to the Chief. The blow had detached multiple vertebrae from the Jackal's spinal cord. The other Jackal was more than 30 meters away when it heard the sound of a body thumping to the ground. The Chief was surprised they had not known of his presence for the Jackals have superior hearing and smelling senses. The Jackal 30 meters away pulled a swift 180 degree turn and powered up his Plasma Pistol. The amount of energy that a powered up Plasma Pistol let out was enormous. It was enough to take out all of the shielding that the Chief had, and do some damage to his body at the same time. The Jackal fired the bolt of Plasma and it flew at a slower rate then regular plasma bolts. However, this particular bolt followed and curved toward the target. The Chief stood completely still, until the bolt was just about three meters from the Chief. He waited and right when he knew that the bolt of plasma could not curve enough to hit him, the Chief sidestepped out of its way. The bolt hit the far wall. When one lets out a charged up plasma bolt, the amount of power it takes to do this has a large effect on the gun, leaving a three to four second time of uselessness. The Chief sprinted quickly toward the Jackal. The Chief jumped high into the air when he was three meters away from the Jackal. The Jackal did his best to use his shield against the blow that the Chief was about to land. The Chief hit the shield that the Jackal carried with more force than a usual strike. The only thing that kept the Jackal alive was his shield, as he stumbled back farther and left his exposed body open for another hit. The Chief moved in toward the Jackal and seized his arm, gave it a jarring twist and then jammed it back into the socket. This broke the Jackals small and fragile arm and the bone pushed its way through the skin. The compound fracture inflicted upon the Jackal was severe, and he gave out a sigh of pain. The Chief still held the arm and maneuvered the sharp bone into the Jackal's neck, stabbing the Jackal with his own arm bone. Blood oozed from the wound and the Jackal's eyes rolled back in his head. The Jackal simply collapsed as the Chief released his hold on him. To the right of the Chief was a door, which was slightly wider than the others. This door had a trapezoid shape, and the Chief walked nearer to it. The Chief walked into a room that appeared to be some sort of prison containment facility. There were no prisoners in the cells but the cells were closed nonetheless. Prisoners were held in by what seemed to be a plasma force field, possibly of the same material as the portable stationary shield that the Covenant used earlier? The Chief charged up his Plasma Pistol and unloaded a full shot into one of the cells. No luck, the portable shields go down with one shot of those. These aren't that same. There was however a platform that held some sort of device on the top, possibly the key to the cells? The Chief ran up and activated the one Cortana said to push and the cells opened. The Chief went into each of the cells and found a single dead marine. He still had his Assault Rifle next to him. The Covenant must hate our weaponry so much, for they throw it in along with the marine. The Chief gave a nod of respect and took the Assault Rifle. The Chief left that particular room and moved along the hall way. No more enemies came out anywhere. The Chief became suspicious of the lack of them. That is until he came across a blood spattered hall way. Mixed in the blood was Covenant and Human. The Chief knew that the Captain was near. The Chief walked near the door, and it opened without hesitation. The Chief instantly jumped back and the door closed. What the Chief saw was a barrage of Covenant. Two Elites in the back, four Grunts on the wall taking a nap, and one Hunter that had his back turned to the door. For all that the Chief knew, that Hunter had heard him. He dived away from the door opening and waited. A moment later the sound of a door opening was heard, then the sound of one closing. The unmistakable clanking of a Hunter's footsteps was heard around the corner. The Hunter first turned to the right to investigate, leaving the Chief with an opportunity to strike. The Chief unloaded nine rounds into the soft orange backside of the Hunter, just in the middle. Blood sprayed out as the Hunter was jolted forward and his arms hung back as the bullets pierced his tough skin. The twelve foot tall monster turned to see the Chief. The Hunter crouched into his battle stance and began running toward the Chief with his arm raised. He swung his arm down and up as the Chief quickly dodged his blows. The Chief unloaded yet again on the beast. The Chief and the Hunter went back and forth three times before the Chief placed a well thrown grenade into the Hunters face. The Chief dove and rolled away from the grenade. The explosion took off the Hunters whole head and a black mist stayed in the air for three seconds before clearing away to reveal the Hunters crater of meat and tissue. Orange blood and black soot stained the small hallway. The Hunter collapsed to his knees and fell forward allowing the large spikes on his back to be seen vibrantly. Blood poured out of the Hunter's body cavity and chunks tumbled out of the neck. The actual body would have been nearly evaporated if it weren't for the armor. The Chief knew that the rest of the Covenant Bastards would hear the blast and come to help out. So he took the battle back to them. He rushed through the door and opened fire on the closest Elite. Bullets impacted into his shield and ate away at it simultaneously. One of the Grunts threw a grenade and had it impact the wall as the Chief jumped away and continued to shoot at the Elite. He shot in three round bursts and knew that the Elite's shield was done as he heard a single bullet impact the body of the Elite. Blood oozed out of the wound but it wasn't enough to lay the Elite to rest. The second Elite came from the side and struck a blow to the Chief's shoulder. The Chief finished off the first Elite with three nice hot steaming rounds into his head, two in the forehead and one in his eye. The bullets found there ways out of the head and the Elite looked as if he had three stab wounds in him. The Elite involuntarily dropped to both his knees and a light from behind showed through the holes in his head giving the Chief a three circle blue shine. Meanwhile the second Elite backed away and came in for another strike. This time the Chief ducked and jumped as the Elite missed his head and put his weight onto the Chief's back. The Chief flung him to the opposite side and mid-flight spun 90 degrees counter-clockwise and put three rounds into the Elite's chest causing the Elite to fly further. The Chief ran over to the Elite the second he hit the ground and put three more into his face. A diameter of 1 meter of blood was formed around the Elite's partially existing head. The Chief unclipped a Fragmentation grenade and let it fly at the panicking Grunts. Two of them were destroyed in the blast. One of the Grunts near the blast got a piece of shrapnel in his forehead. He fell down and screamed. The Grunt became an easy target for the Chief as he put three into his tender body. One Grunt remained and the Chief could already hear the cheering from the cells. The Chief simply ran over and bashed the grunt in the face smashing it in completely. The skull was impacted into the brain and the Grunt flipped head over heels onto his stomach. Blood poured out of the dented cranium. The Chief ran over to the platform and opened the cells as he had the time before. Three marines happily awaited further instructions from the Captain, whom appeared fine. The marines ran by and got into a semi-circle, complimented the Chief on his fight and listened to the Captain. "That was one HELL of a battle there Chief. I'm amazed that you made it through without as much as a scratch. My God Master Chief, you are as amazing as they all say you are." The Chief gave a slight nod to let the Captain know that he appreciated the respect. "Listen hear people, this is how it's going to go. We need to get off of the ship somehow, and we need a ride to do it. Anyone got any bright ideas?" "Well, there is one way. There is still a Covenant spacecraft docked at the Boarding Bay. If we can get there, then I can fly us out of here" Cortana puts calmly. "Then its settled, Chief, can you get us there?" the Captain said as he lifted a Needler that a Grunt carried.

The Chief gave a nod, and turned to the door which slid quietly open. Nothing appeared to be in the door, and one of the marines questioned his own eyes. The Chief threw a grenade into the doorway and heard the clank of the grenade as well as the rolling of two Invis-Elites. One managed to get away, but the other was caught in the blast, and it blew his lower torso apart. The legs and the upper body flew at the same rate and landed half a meter from each other. The intestines of the Elite were near its own head. The other Elite growled in horror at the sight and began to unload his Plasma Rifle. The Chief ran in front of the Captain as the plasma impacted into his own shields. The Chief opened fire and struck the Invis-Elite in the leg, it dropped down and bowed its head. The Chief fired three shots and one of them struck the upper head of the Invis-Elite and penetrated through the brain and out the bottom jaw. One of his mandibles fell to the ground and the Elite atop it. The marines, glad that they had survived a two Elite attack ran over to the dead Elites and unloaded their weapons upon them. The Chief thought it a waste of ammo. The marines and the Chief left the room and returned to the hallway. They continued down safely as the Chief had already taken most of the enemies out. They entered the large room with the platform and continued past that until they reached the boarding bay. The Chief prompted the marines and the Captain to stay back as he entered the room. The doors slid open and the Chief stood face to face with a Gold Elite. The Chief quickly ducked as the Elite pointed his weapon and unloaded it into the hallway. A barrage of plasma flew and hit the walls. A single plasma bolt struck a marine in the face and melted right through his skin, tissue, and cranium and struck the back wall. The marine fell over onto a fellow other marine's shoulder. Hot tissue fell atop the shoulder of the fellow marine as melted brain fell onto his armor. The oozy plasma melted tissue, burned through the shoulder armor of the marine and he gave out a loud holler, both because of pain and of horror. He pushed the lifeless body away from himself. The still ducked Chief primed his Assault Rifle and lodged it into the under jaw of the Gold Elite. He applied quite a bit of pressure and he pulled the trigger. The muzzle flash revealed a Gold Elite rain down bits of his own head onto the marines and the Chief. The Chief didn't lay off of the trigger and continued firing until he was only hitting the bloody ceiling. The Gold Elite was now on the floor, and the marines were either looking at the poor marine that died or brushing off brain matter from themselves. There was another Elite behind the Gold Elite that had just perished and seeing as how the Chief was ducked; the marines and the Captain took it upon themselves to help out. They unloaded plasma and needles. Plasma struck the Elite as he scrambled to fight. Three concentrated shots melted off his right arm and three needles hit his body. All of which landed in the chest area. All of them exploded simultaneously, and it ripped open the chest of the Elite and scattered his vital organs around like they were beanbags. The liver, lungs, and the heart jumped out of the chest and a kidney stuck to the wall. "Messy stuff" the Captain muttered to himself. Purple blood and organs were meshed around the tightly packed hallway. The Chief began moving forward. He turned the corner and looked to reveal no one. He looked down below him as he stood on the third level of the ship. This was the Boarding Bay, they had made it. There was only a single death to get here too. The Captain stepped onto the Gold Elites partial head, separated it further, and continued to move closer to the Chief. The Chief activated the Boarding Bay doors, just as Cortana told him to. The massive door opened as the force field faded into the darkness of space. The Chief jumped down eight meters and landed on top of the Covenant Dropship. He opened the top hatch, and was satisfied as the release of gases filled the air. The hatch opened without a hitch. He dropped down inside. He moved his way through the purple ship and arrived at the cockpit. He activated the things Cortana told him to in the precise order and in mere moments found himself up where the Captain and the two marines were. They climbed onto the ship and dropped into it. The Captain requested control of the ship and received it. He pulled a u-turn and the Chief and the marines flew into the blackness of space. They flew down and after four hours of flying, they arrived at the rendezvous point and met up with other marines and more humans. The Chief had completed his mission, he had extracted the Captain, and his next goal would be the Silent Cartographer.
