The hellhole of war
Date: 9 February 2005, 8:27 PM
Outside the holy city, in a pelican, 2556.
"Godda**it, they got the tracer on us!" yelled Captain Keyes. She drove the pelican out of the holy city, but a brute, with its gigantic arms threw a hub tracking device onto the pelican just as it was about two hundred feet up. The master cheif opened the back of the pelican, raised his sniper and pulled the trigger.
The orange blood of the brute flew everywhere. The master cheif took a few more shots, sniping down a gold elite and two prophets. He turned to captain keyes. She owned her own fleet of ships, all starting with the words "the pillar of". She saw this as a tribute to her brother, who died by being absorbed by flood.
"Where is it located?" he spoke, in his deep voice. "On the left wing, right next to that big dent." she replied.
"Fly slowly, and do not leave the atmosphere!" the mastercheif spoke. "Im going out." "Your crazy!" Keyes spoke. "If I am I beleive im still a little bit sane."
Without anymore words the mastercheif opened the side window, and stepped out of the pelican, holding on to the window seal. He searched around for the dent. After about half a minute he found it. The real challenge was to find the hub device. They were less than an inch tall and wide, so he used the sniper rifle scope to find it. He searched for it, finally after about ten minutes he succedded.
He crawled carefully on the wing of the pelican, being as alert as possible. He moved over to it, then the wind changed direction. "Sh**!" he yelled as he slid down the wing. He moved slowly, then the wind caught him again. Se slid down the wing, and Bam! He fell off the edge of the wing, or thats what the marines thought. They waited, staring at the wing, just to be sure he fell.
No movement came from the edge, but that changed as the chiefs arm came up. He slowly climbed back onto the wing. Good. Or thats what he thought.
His legs burned, as something super hot touched his legs. Under the pelican were two wraiths. They shot mortar at the pelican, missing it, until one hit the wing.
"Arggghhh!!!!" the chief got up. The wing shifted when he walked. He came to realize one thing:its falling.
He looked up just as it started falling. The pelican was spinning out of control. "Come on, don't miss!" he thought outloud.
He took a breath, then jumped as high as he could, and grabbed the open back door of the pelican. Although it was very difficult as the pelican was spinning, he managed to pull himself up into it. "Get ready for crash landing!" the chief yelled to the marines, over the sound of the engines malfunctioning. He ran into the cockpit, grabbing onto Keyes's arm.
"Hold on!" She grabbed at his armor then he ran back into the main part of the pelican. "Oh shoot!" dropped keyes and ran back into the cockpit hitting the button to close the door. It was done.
He ran back to keyes, grabbed onto her and dropped to the floor, laying on his chest. Keyes did the same. They waited, getting dizzy. Still dizzy they waited, and waited, and waited, and waited.
Captain keyes felt a lurch in her stomach, and threw up onto the floor. The marines got under their seats, following the masterchief.
Boom! The pelican finally crashed, rubbish flying everywhere. A fire started, and reached the engines, where the gasoline was located.
"Get out!" he yelled at the marines. There was no need to, they were dead. "Da**it!" he grabbed keyes, told her to sheild her eyes, and punched the window out. He threw her out the window, then jumped out himself.
"Wait!" a voice came from inside the pelican. "Theres someone in there!" the chief got ready to climb back in. He carefully moved in, making sure he didnt touch any flames. He looked around, and spotted someone waving their arms.
"Its ok." the chief said. He walked up to the figure, lifted him onto his shoulders and walked back to the window. "Be careful!" the chief helped the man out, and grabbed onto his feet to help him out.
The chief gasped. His green armor, changed to a liquid red. There was one explanation for this: BLOOD. "Man!"
He jumped out of the window.
Turning to the man, he gasped. It was seargent johnson! His face was charred, and pitch black at some places. But it didn't stop there. His whole body was charred and covered with blood.
"Help me!" he said sadly to Keyes. She ripped off her overshirt, still having an extra layer under it, and ripped it into peices. She layed out each peice individually and covered all of the major cuts and scratches.
"I dont think he'll make it." "Be hopeful." the chief replied to her. "I didn't think i'd survive when i was supposed to destroy the pillar of autumn.
Captain Keyes started crying. She was sensitive about her brothers death.
"I did what I had to." the chief said, trying to calm her down. " Its killed load of covenants and all the flood that we know of." "I know. I know." "It was for the best." Keyes started crying more than ever before.
"Now, we must find a way back to earth." the masterchief said. He walked over to johnson, looking for a radio. "Bingo." it was located on the seargents waist.
He pulled it off, trying to avoid touching touching any of the injuries. He put into the on position. Nothing came over the radio. Not even static. "No batteries." he spoke.
"This place is a living hell, and we're in the heart of it with no food, water, and only a sniper rifle!" Keyes spoke angrily.
"Actually, we'll get more than a sniper rifle. Before keyes could respond he jumped back into the flaming pelican.
"That guy's insane!" she spoke quietly. She waited, and waited, and waited. She couldn't take it anymore. She plunged into the window, and looked for the masterchief. A sound shifted in the pelican.
Alert, she turned around. In front of her stood the masterchief, a battlerifle in each hand.
"Thank god!" she walked forward to hug him but he stepped back, weapons raised, locked on her face. "Dont move, so i can kill you piece of sh*t!" She let out a short scream, then ducked as the chief pulled the trigger. A bullet caught on her arm, then another on her leg.
"Son of a gun!" she yelled.
"Ahhh." Liquid wahed all over her. She thought it was blood. She was right. But it wasnt hers. A figure fell ontop of her.
She let out another scream. It was an elite, who spilled its blood onto her.
"Da*n you i said dont move!" the chief said, sounding angry. "I thought you were trying to kill me." "Yeah right." the chief said back. "Am i still crazy?"
Keyes didn't reply to this. She was losing conscience, the bullets getting to her.
"Sh*t!!!!!!" "Dont leave me now." Keyes again didn't answer.
He looked around himself, as if he was in a third peson view, filming him from the sky, in the middle of a unknon covenant planet in a desert, with two battle rifles, a sniper rifle, no food or water, and two unconscience people.
War is hell, and it might as well always be.
To be continued.
