The Lost Spartan (Chapters 1-4)
Date: 10 June 2002, 11:04 pm
Chapter 1 The Beginning ÝÝÝÝÝ"We can't leave Sam!" was going through my mind when they left. I'm Sam, I was lost during a suicide attempt on a covenant ship. I was left to die but I knew the others would have stayed. I held off the covenant for a while as I had said to my fellow spartans until I had 20 seconds left. I ran through the hallways firing at Grunts and Jackals who were returning fire. I found a covenant escape pod and entered and left into space. The covenant ship exploded and the blast was held in the shield but when they gave way it blew my pod into slipstream and I was unconscious for the time. I awoke near an artificially made world as it looked like, in the shape of a ring. I grab the controls of the pod and found that the pod really took a beating. I steered it towards the ring and fell in a desereted caveland. ÝÝÝÝÝI found secluded shelter in a big, lit cave. An unexpected surprise led me to believing that this was a covenant-made cave and was deserted in a battle. Needlers, Ghosts, and plasma grenades were in a corner and extra needles were next to them. I found a roming Grunt and killed him. I ate the bastard and found a surprise of how healthy, delicious, and energizing they were. I stole the plasma rifle and added it to my newfound collection of weapons in this home. ÝÝÝÝÝI studied the body of the grunt and found information beyond what was known to humans. I knew this would help reach and earth but the question going through my mind now was if reach and earth still existed and if the spartans had survived if not. I saved the information on a log. I started thinking about other things such as a plan to survive and how I would recieve information about these things I now thought of. ÝÝÝÝÝEvery week a Covenant would come and each time I would study each new covenant. Elite, Hunter, Grunt, Elite, Hunter, Grunt. Each time I studied them I found a new surprise and saved it to my log. The Hunters were the bitterest tasting covenant and Grunts the sweetest. Elites gave me a relaxing feeling but I paid no attention to it. I found alloys in Hunters when I would study them after eating. Every once in a while a Jackal would come and they tasted bitter but sweet at the same time. ÝÝÝÝÝI learned more and more each day. Hunters were the most complex and interesting. I found that the fuel rod cannon on the arm was built in and the bulky armor was harder than Titanium. I built a room for me to study the covenant inside the cave and made a small wall of "Syphil" as I now called the armor of the Hunters. I also made a bulkhead in the front of the cave with the Syphil. ÝÝÝÝÝI never really thought about how I had gotten to find these covenant and be able to survive. They couldn't have seen the pod or maybe they came for ammo. I decided to see the other caves. I took the ghost, 4 pg's, and 2 needlers. I also took four peices of grunt meat and 20 extra needles. I took off on the ghost and found caves made by covenant. He camped out after looking around. I grabbed a peice of grunt meat and fired a needler which burned the meat medium-rare. ÝÝÝÝÝI ate and drank water I had gathered during my trip to the caves. I decided to have a bit of target practice. With the Ghost I fired a few shots at lights around the room. The vehicle fired rapidly and hit every lamp I aimed at. I decided to put ghosts in the opening of my cave when I got back. i had an encounter for the first time with a Jackal one day. I killed him easily and stole his light armor. I stayed for 3 days and putting Jackals into a back trunk type thing. I turned off the armors I collected from the 5 Jackals I had killed. I kept one on my wrist and the rest in the trunk. I got to my cave and started studying the new covenant. Their muscles were very lowly developed. The skin was very thin and I found a weak-point in the chest. No wonder they need the sheilds, I thought to myself. ÝÝÝÝÝThe weak-point was very small but easy to hit from both close and long range. I kept studying but then I heard two clunks. I got behind a bulkhead with my needler two hunters were here and they didn't look happy. I watched as they looked around the room. Then a loud roar came from the back hunter and two grunts came in, one saying, "Why did we get put on this mission I rather be out on the carriers destroying the stupid humans." I was shocked at having four covenant soldiers in the cave. I waited.
Chapter 2 Life or Death ÝÝÝÝÝI looked again and the Hunters had their backs turned to me. I acted quickly and fired two shots at the orange spots on the Hunters back. They fell instantly to the floor with a loud thud. Thinking quickly I shot 3 needles at each of the grunts. A small purple explosion engulfed and killed them. I ate glad and after started on a knew plasma weapon. I would try to make a plasma launcher out of the Hunters weapons. I took two and connected the cables together. After I created a insert to put needles into which made the plasma. The two guns looked powerful but I would have to test it. ÝÝÝÝÝI was in luck two Hunters came walking over a small hill. I had taken off the sight of my pistol and installed it onto the launcher. I zoomed, aimed, and fired. The first Hunter was hit in the head and fell to the ground. The second came rampaging, sheild up, towards the bulkhead I was behind. I fired a second shot that ricocheted off the beasts sheild. I fired again and again until it was too close. I ran back, jumped onto a ghost, and zoomed towards him. I saw a light flash and barely dodged the plasma from his cannon. I kept and spun around him. I put full speed and killed the bastard by ramming into his back. My sheild flickered and went dead but recharged immediatly. After this I created numerous weapons and sheilds. ÝÝÝÝÝI created, by using the jackals sheilds, a on/off switch for my sheild. I used the arm bands for that. I made a small generator that made a energy sheild in the cave opening. A favorite weapon of mine is the plasma/ap round head gun. It attaches to my headset and a small screen shows the energy of my plasma pack. The plasma pack holds needles that make plasma for my headgun. It is also used as my thruster pack I made that attaches to my human pack on my back. The thruster pack allows my to go into the air and fire from long distances with my headgun. I created the AG2, a modified human pistol that uses either needles, explosion tipped rounds, or AP rounds and a electronic 2x-10x sight. The thruster pack is only for emergencies. ÝÝÝÝÝThe the shield switch was very usefull and the thruster pack let me find out about my surrounding. Other than the usual boulder here and there I found a type of cactus and flowers in a small area with a cave and a small stream flowing from a waterfall. Following the waterfall shocked me. A battle was raging with one man being ruffed up by Elites. The marine held his ground. I flew back to the cave and grabbed a Needler, my AG2, and hopped onto a Ghost. I drove towards the battle firing at will everywhere and drove to the Marine and smushed some Elites and Grunts along the way. When I got there I made quick work of the Elites ruffing up the Marine and told the Marine to get on as I got off. "Sir, more men are behind that cliff and won't last long." he said. "Don't worry I'll get them." I said and fly over to the other Marines. The Marine I just left was spinning and firing madly but the Grunts, Elites, and Jackals around him died. I found 5 Marines behind the cliff being rushed by the Covenant. I fired at every Grunt with my head gun while I finished off Jackals with my AG2. The Elites were starting to come. I fired full-auto with the Needler and mostly two would die of the explosion of the needles. The Marine I left behind headed for the cliff as I was setting down with the other marines. "I'm out of Ammo!" a marine screamed. "Shut up!" was what came out of my mouth as I threw a pistol clip to the marine and gave him an extra after. ÝÝÝÝÝSoon we finished the stragglers and I gathered up the team after I found a Plasma Sword and stored it in a pounch for study. "How many were in your Life-pod?" was my first question one stepped forward, saluted, and said,"We have had two casualties and 6 of us are left, Sir." "Names please?" I asked. One by one they told me their name and rank, Cpl. Jake Stephens, Pvt. Katina Ploi, Sgt. M. Kristin Phelt, Major Brian Stalker, Pvt. Jorge Pinto, and Pvt. John Paso. The marine I saved was Pvt. Jorge Pinto. I led them towards the cave and Jorge brang the ghost. "We better move out of here since we are already on this hellhole!" "Sir, Yes, Sir!" answered the team. "My name is Samual, Sam for short, and I am a Spartan II warrior." The team wasn't very surprised and I think It was because of my MJOLNIR armor but they were surprised that I was Sam. "Sir, weren't you lost on a mission when you boarded a Covenant Ship?" asked the young Pvt. Johnathon Paso. "Yes, I almost was marine," I answered calmly," I almost died." I showed them the open wound in my armor."This is what happens from a plasma blast." ÝÝÝÝÝ"Who is a sniper?" I asked. Sgt. M. Kristin Phelt stepped forward. "Good, I'll make you a weapon for sharpshooting." She stepped back. "High Explosives?" Cpl. Jake Stephens stepped foward. "What do you have?" I asked. " I'm carrying 2 packs of C-12 and four grenades, Sir!" he answered. "Keep them and you will go back with me to collect any dropped grenades from the covenant." "Yes, Sir!" He stepped back. "Electronics?" Major. Brian Stalker stepped forward this time. "Do you have any known knowledge of covenant vehicles and weapons?" "Yes, Sir, It was the second thing I was trained in." He replied. He stepped back. Weapons were next. Pvt. Pinto stepped out. "You will make a Sniper for Kristin and explosives for Jake later." I ordered him. He stepped back. "What about you Paso?" I asked as he stepped forward. "I do Reconnaisonce and driving, Sir." He stepped back. "And you Katina?" she stepped forward as I asked. "I am the pilot." She simply said. After that she stepped back.
Chapter 3 The Reunion ÝÝÝÝÝMe and Jake went back to the base and brought back a sack of plasma grenades and six plasma swords. After that we moved all the things in the cave including bulkheads, weapons, vehicles, and food to the old covenant base. We cleaned up the place and everyone now carried a light sheild of the Jackals. We had encountered two battles with 20 grunts and 2 elites. We finished them off with our enhanced weapons and shields. The Jackal sheilds really help since the covenant use plasma weapons. No one has been hurt and a new explosive C-2000 or C-15 is more powerful because of the plasma mixture and Kristin's plasma sniper uses 100 plasma charges instead of 4 sniper rounds. We enhanced grenades and they only attaches to skin. Once a Covenant Wraith came and was destroyed with a well placed shot from my AG2. All of us have plasma headguns and are unstoppable. We are even smarter than the scientist of the UNSC or ONI. ÝÝÝÝÝBut then we saw a lone soldier walking across the barren land. He had the uniform of a UNSC Marine. Johnathon conformed that and Katina picked him up on a Spirit. The Spirit is a two seated vehicle that has plasma guns and a soul catcher which is a plasma torpedo on each side. It is similar to the Warthog but with stronger armor and better weapons. The plasma torpedo can take out a Covenant dropship. The marine was Sgt. Carlos Mendez. A surviver from another lifepod and the "Hellion". He had a sack but we didn't check it. Soon after he become unconscious we saw another soldier. Cpl. Craig Narso. A good friend of mine I met in the messhall on another ship. He was happy to see me and he had been aboard the "Hellion" with Sgt. Carlos Mendez and that the rest had died in the crash. He had brought along 20 clips for a pistol and 10 clips for an Assualt Rifle in a sack and that Carlos had the same amount with 8 frag. grenades. We gave the soldiers water and grunt meat and Carlos said before eating it that he'd "rather eat his crap than that" but he ate it after encouragement and the Pvt. saying that it tasted better than the Vitamin Omega. After eating it he loved it and felt stronger that he did 5 laps around the 2 mile perimeter. ÝÝÝÝÝJohn was doing recon and called back saying that Special Ops. Grunts, Jackals, Elites, and a Wraith with 1 banshee escort was coming our way and he was already returning. We set up some plasma mines in the direction they were coming after he came back. Kristin stationed on the roof in a sniper-spot with armoring all around and a whole for the sniper. Everyone got in their positions on the roof where we had placed bulkheads. I told Kristin to take out the Banshee first which she did without any problems. Then forty Gunts, fifteen Jackals, 10 Elites, and the one wraith came. We powered on our sheilds. Ten Special Ops. Grunts came and were killed by the first line of mines. Five Jackals came holding their sheilds up and were destroyed and incinerated by the next line. Five Elites came charging this time and they didn't have much time in the battle. The Wraith moved through the lines and thinking that there were no more continued. Did that tank have a surprise. The tank burst into flames and we opened fire. I told Kristin to take out Elites first. Everyone else fired two three burst rounds. Some chucked EPG's that attached to some covies or bounced on the ground. Seven Jackals had fallen dead and twenty Grunts had been killed. Elites were taken out easily by Kirstin. Everyone fired their headguns and the stragglers dropped dead. ÝÝÝÝÝThen two dropships came and let loose one Hunter, two Jackals, five Grunts, and three Elites each. Kristin tried firing on the Hunters as first priority but the charges bounced off the armor. Everyone chucked an EPG each and killed a few. No plasma could get through thanks to the sheilds. The Elites held needlers but were to no avail against our weapons. I switched to Shredder rounds and hit a Hunter and an Elite. The hunter died immediatly but the Elite was still alive. An Elite went in and came out behind us but was barged by a storm of bullets and plasma. He fell instantly. The other Hunter was dead by the time we turned around and the Grunts were already dead from grenades. Craig killed a Jackal with a bullet in the chest and screamed, "Suck on this you peice of shit!" The leftover Jackals were devoured in plasma and bullets. The last Elite was killed but the the hatch opened. I screamed for everyone to turn on their plasma swords and as we did another did in mid-air. It went for me but was sliced in half by Carlos who hadn't done much. The sword of the Elite fell and cut a little into Craigs leg. "SHIT!!!" was the next word from Craig. ÝÝÝÝÝWe took him in the base and into the infirmary. We poured a little water on and dried up the blood. No big operation had to be done but we checked the cut and was millimeters away from an artery. He lied in bed for a few days and we again took the weapons from the covenant and some cleaned up the mess of blood and carcasses. Craig couldn't walk too good on his right leg but he could still fire from his head gun and a pistol. I advanced his pistol into an AG2. I also added an length-adjustable back-arm for better control. He healed better and better but not fully in time. It seems that a message had been sent to other covenant. This time they only brought two Wraiths and ten Hunters. Again we planted plasma mines after John got back but this time we made it further in case they knew we had planted some so they would die easier. We took positions turned on sheilds and waited. We watched as a Hunter approached. He stopped right in from of the first line. He grabbed a rock and tossed it over the lines. Nothing happened but did they get a surprise when they walked forward. BOOOOM!!!!! The Hunter had stepped on it. They continued and three more times we heard a blast. BOOM! STOMP! BOOM! STOMP! BOOM! STOMP! We again looked up through our sheilds. They hadn't spotted us and continued in. The Hunters came in and back out. One was carrying something. I ordered Kristin to fired at the one carrying the thing in the back. As she another one picked it up and they kept falling. ÝÝÝÝÝSoon the Wraiths fired. One shot hit the bulkhead where Jake was and he blindly through 2 Frag. Grenades blindly and saw one Wraith fly the roof on fire and all battered. Fuel Rod Cannons started powering up and blasted. I told Jake to use the big guns. He took out a Plasma Launcher. He charged it up, got up, and fired in the mist of a Hunter. He fired at another and killed both Hunters. "Take that you Son of a Bitch!" he called out to them. "Screw you!" replied one of the Hunters. "Big words from a tiny brain." Carlos said to the Hunter. Laughter roared from everyone. We heard the Hunter scream and blow Carlos's bulkhead apart with a blast. A crack appeared in the middle. I screamed at him to go behind the Tank. As the Hunter focused on the tank Craig fired a shot from his AG2 and hit the Hunter in his orange spot. But the charge still flew through the air. The Hunter fell raising his middle finger of his left arm after dropping it. Carlos was smart enough to get out of the way and ran to a bulk head and shared with Jorge. The other three Hunters were stormed in bullets. One had an EPG attached to him and was blown up. We all laughed at him trying to get it off. The head flew into Katina's lap and she screamed and fired into it splashing orange blood all over herself. Once again we roared with laughter but Katina didn't think it so funny. The last were sniped and killed instantly. The final Wraith was blown up from a undetonated mine as it tried to get away. ÝÝÝÝÝWe cleaned up once again and I had shift this time with Carlos and John. Did you see that Hunter. We all laughed as we cleaned up. It had been two months since the guys landed and our first battle. Three months had passed for me. I remember when I was just starting out. The things I learned from being all alone in that cave. My thoughts were interrupted by the alarm. "Guys, incoming Covenant." This wouldn't be as easy. We replaced Carlos's bulkhead and got into position. We put the mines down once again in four lines. Four Wraiths came with two Hunters, ten Grunts, and ten Elites. We positioned ourselves behind the bulkheads, turned on our sheilds, and watched as hey came. We knew the Covenant weren't stupid. They sent one Grunt at a time. Both flew over the bulkheads and then two Elites went over the bulkheads. We fired. Kristin sent charges into two of the tanks. Both blew up on impact. Grunts fell quick. Elites headed in. Katina got up, opened the hatch, and sent a frag. grenade down. She ran back after closing the hatch we heard roars from under the hatch. Three Elites flew out of the opening of the base. I told Kristin to focus on the tanks. Katina, John, Carlos, and Craig focused on the hatch for the Elites. While Jorge, Jake, Brian, and I focused on the Hunters. Suddenly two more Hunters came out from behind the bushes. We all focused on one Hunter. We heard another brushing in the bushes but we didn't think of it as anything. Four Elites had gone down and the rest of us were have no luck with the Hunters except Jake who had attached a normal plasma grenade to the sheild but had done little damage except make a Hunter blown forward and start fighting with the other one. Jake and Jorge just sat there watching their targets as Brian and I tried to get the other two. ÝÝÝÝÝI fired one shot to the head and blew it off by hitting the unarmored neck after with me headgun. I turned around and the hatch had just opened but with no one coming out. I turned on my plasma sword, as did the other four focusing on the hatch also. Carlos got jabbed in the stomach but was able to cut off the leg of the invisible Elite. He roared with pain as Carlos took out the other leg. He got up and away from the Elite. We knocked out the Elite and bandaged the legs. We also tied up the arms in case. Just then we all heard a blast hit Carlos's bulkhead again as it tore in two an flew to the back of the base. After that we saw banshee's coming our way. Five banshee's in a V formation headed our way. We heard the Hunter roar,"That was for my cousin!" " Ohhhh, now your trying to live up to his knowledge, I can see it now," Carlos replied,"Brain Wars, Who has the smallest peanut!" We all laughed at him again but were interrupted by plasma fire from the Banshees screeching overhead. ÝÝÝÝÝWe all directed fired on the Banshees and three fell from the sky on fire. "Who wants barbecue?" Jorge asked. Brian was able to take out the remaining Hunter as it put it's guard down to look at the planes. The remaining two Banshee's came back around and fired their Fuel Rod Cannons. They dented the hatch and barely missed take and all his explosives. "Cutting it close Jake!" I called over to him. John got up and fired at the Banshees screaming,"That's gonna cost me another half an hour of fixing!" One Banshee fell and the other turned around and focused on John who ran in circles on the roof. The Aircraft lowered to run him over but John ducked and threw a normal Plasma Grenade and watched the fire works. We all watched but then fired in surprise at the Elite in the hatch. "Don't ever scare me like that again," Brian called," especially at a time like this!" We all went down the hatch and fired on a lone Elite. A big roar filled the hall. We looked into a corridor in the base and were filled with plasma fire. Some ran to the left wall the others to the right. We all sent grenades in and finished the job. We called for Kristin to come down as she did and we all rested with one exception for lookout.
Chapter 4 The Departure ÝÝÝÝÝWe all awoke fresh and reenergized. A bit of Grunt meat for breakfast helped and I decided that we couldn't stay here forever. I left the table we ate on and traveled deep within the structure. I took a left, then a right, then two lefts, and one right and I found a hanger with a Seraph fighter and Five Banshees. I ran back using my map I had used to track down the way I was going. I called a meeting and told everyone that we would have to leave and go to help the UNSC. I led them towards the ships. They were awed. Everyone packed up weapons in sacks and put on Syphil armor. The "Granite" as we called the newly found ship was already equipped with plasma missiles and pulse lasers. We loaded a two Banshee's in and all of us got ready for the ride. Katina our pilot had learned how to fly one and learned some of the symbols. She started it up as we all strapped in. She flew out the atmosphere and into darkness. Pitch blackness like never seen came onto the ship the lights turned on. I sat in the front with Katina. She wrote in a slipstream navigation point. We would get to Earth. As we entered slipstream we almost immediately came out. A battle was already raging in space above Earth. We instead flew to another colony planet. We flew to Saturn. As we landed a CIF (Covenant Invasion Force) was heading to a city of Saturn. Katina drove towards the city. We are bombarded by bullets but use our shields to deflect them. ÝÝÝÝÝThe barrage of bullets stop when they see that we are from earth. We looked at he weapons and they were highly advanced but not as advanced as ours. They finally welcomed us and we warned them of the CIF coming but they already knew. A man piloted the "Granite" to a docking bay for hiding. They had already been ready for the CIF and we again warned them that the CIF was 2 hours away and advancing. They looked at our weapons also and complimented us in our fine weaponry. We were getting aquinted with the leader of the city they informed us that advancements had been made to the Covenant weaponry and also to theirs but the UNSC had only advanced a bit. We met a trained dog, "Goosan" who was very friendly but we were warned he can be deadly in combat. An explosion rocked the building we were in and we got to position. Katina ran towards the hanger with John and hopped into the Banshee's aboard the Seraph. Kristin set up on a large piller with her Plasma Sniper and an extra battery. The rest of us just set up in the barracade. Footsteps could be hard a mile away and John had called in that fifty Elites, seventy Grunts, forty Jackals, fifteen Wraiths, and twenty Hunters were coming. Twenty Elites were on Ghosts and another ten were on Banshee's. ÝÝÝÝÝJorge came in driving the Spirit. "I thought we shouldn't have left it so I put it in a litte compartment I connected under the Granite." Jorge informed. He sat in the drivers seat as Jake got onto the back and manned the plasma gun. I took shotgun and manned the plasma guns on the front from my console in front of the seat. Jorge drove wildly and loved every second. He finally jumped over a barricade that he used as a ramp. Jake started firing as I did and Jorge ran over Grunts and Jackals in the craziness. Jorge used a Wraith as a ramp a threw a NPG onto it. We ran into a Hunter and he held ono the back but was dragged along. I hit a few Elites on Ghosts and a white flash zipped by my shoulder and hit a Banshee right behind us hovering over the dust and ground now in flames toppling over killing two Elites (one on the Banshee another on the ground), and three Grunts. Saturians started falling, some only wounded and others not as lucky. The same was happening also except the wounded kept on, some with no arms or with on leg crawling and firing at the same time. Then we heard Pelicans coming in and marines marching to the barricade. The numbers were uneven and we had the upper hand. One hundred twenty Saturians and ninety Marines made up the two hundred ten fighters left. The number of Covenant soldiers was one hundred ninety-five Covenant in the beginning. Now it is one hundred fifty. The casualties of the Covenant at the moment were rising. ÝÝÝÝÝJorge U-turned and stopped in the front of the CIF. "What the hell are you doing?" I asked Jorge. "Nothing." he simply replied and pressed a button. A plasma torpedo rocketed off shish-ko-bobing three Elites and finally exploding on an incoming dropship. Shrapnel flew into Grunts running around and screaming for their lives. An overcharged plasma bolt flew by my head and hit the armoring on the sides of the chain-gun. I found a stupid Jackal with his pistol cooling down and I fired three bolts into him. Five Hunters came rampaging at the Spirit but fell down simultaniously. I looked at Kristin and saw her wave. Another bolt flashed by my ear as I turned back and saw a stupid pack of Grunts coming towards us while one fell back to cool his gun. I fired at the lone Grunt in the back cooling his gun while Jake mopped up the five others. Then suddenly a carrier came into the Atmosphere and let out twenty dropships.

Chapter 5 Pluto We were starting to get pushed back by the now counting three hundred forty of the CIF. Jorge was smart enough to take us back over the barricade. We then saw grenades explode in a trail behind us. Everyone threw a Frag. Grenade in unison. The CIF were severely decreased so I told Jorge to drive me over to the Leader of the City. I met up with him and I devised a plan. "We should call a Pelican to come holding Nukes. Four to Five no less. We would start retreating and leave twenty soldiers with two Pelicans. The men would retreat, the Covies come in, and boom. They get a surprise." The Leader was sorry about his doomed city but he agreed none the less. We called in a Pelican and it got here in ten minutes with five nukes. We gathered twenty strong men. They would place the nukes in each corner and in the middle of the city. They would also stay fighting off the covenant. As soon as they placed the nukes and came back some people gave them clips and grenades. Everyone retreaded. Most left in Pelicans as they came down and some in the ones already here. My team left in the Seraph fighter after putting in the wounded John, a Banshee, and the Spirit on the bottom. We took off last leaving only the twenty men.
The twenty men pulled back into the pelicans and took off firing their auto-cannon. We used a satallite in orbit over the city and saw all the Covenant barging in. Some grunts ate some dead people, a disturbing sight, and the last ones came in. The Leader called the detonations and walked away. The city must have ment a lot to him. The city was now nothing more than a crater. I rounded up my team and left towards a UNSC stronghold on Pluto.
As we landed in a hanger the coldness that had seeped into the ship was warmed. We all came out freezing our butts off and were handed fur coats. I told my team to stay here or go to the mess hall. I headed for General Mansons office. I found him working on a new weapon called a MA7B-P. The new assault rifle contained a double clip insert, plasma battery insert, and all three rounds with a new PX. The rounds were the usual explosive, armor-peircing, and shredder but a new round had been made. The PX, a plasma tipped round, tears through skin and tissue, does not make the target bleed in the wound, and does more damage to the armor of a Covenant soldier. The gun was a prototype and General Manson had to choose someone to test it. I saluted and he did the same.
"At ease Spartan." he said wearily. I sat down in a leather chair and relaxed. "I hear that you had to blow up a city on Saturn. "Yes, sir," I replied and explained, "The covenant were decreasing in numbers but when the dropships and the Carrier came we were doomed and we would have lost the city anyways if we didn't act." "We also destroyed the Covenant Invasion Force from moving onto another city." "So what are you here for Samual?" the General replied. "I know cordinates to a Covenant stronghold. It is the same as the ring I have heard of that an old friend of mine died on." I told him. General Manson walked around and sighed. "I'm sorry son, the strongholds are not needed anymore," he replied walking to a computer, "All UNSC soldiers have been sent to Earth or to fight in the Haven system.
"Sir, I would like to have my team assigned to this battle for support." I asked him. "I was about to tell you that you may go and I also was gonna give you this MA7B-P for testing." he replied. I headed back out of the room with the MA7B-P and seven clips of each round. I headed towards the infirmatory and showed John the new rifle. He was impressed and the burn in his side didn't have any bleeding. He was fine except that his right shoulder was a bit burned. We walked down the hall after being handed a med kit and ten packs of biofoam. The rest of the team was munching on some grub. I grabbed a drink of Cola as John went to sit. I had gotten close to my team since our battles. After filling ourselves I took them to a debriefing room. I told them that we were headed towards the Haven system and were gonna fight off some Covenant forces ground-side trying to destroy the main strongholds in Haven. After I showed them the rifle and told them to get one in a weapons room. They found the guns which had been placed there for them and we headed towards the ship. We were refitted with twelve Anvil II missiles in place of the missing plasma torpedoes and we took off after the mechanics fixed a extra sheet of metal on the Banshee. The Banshee looked remarkable and amazing in it's shining coat of armor. We took off towards the Haven system.
The Lost Spartan (Chapter 6)
Date: 3 July 2002, 8:45 pm
We reached Haven system 3 hours later and a war was already raging. The Covenant were already engaged with cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and even Longsword interceptors. I motioned over to Katina to go towards the planet. She saw a group of dropships heading towards an island. She followed into the planet and saw what looked more like a war than a mere battle. Tanks, jeeps, Longswords, and Marines were engaged with the enemy. Katina landed in a camp that had been set up. I told everyone to move out. Jorge went to the compartment under the ship and pressed a button. The compartment doors opened and Jorge drove the Spirit out. I took shotgun and Carlos took gunner this time. Katina stayed in the Seraph as the injured John got in the Banshee. Both took off while Jack sat under the plasma-gun and Kristin took a post with the other snipers. The engine roared to life and we took off into the enormous battle. I manned the passenger plasma gun while Carlos fired wildly into the fray. Jorge hit a bump that sent us flying over advancing grunts firing on us. "Bring it on!!!" Carlos screamed over the sound of the plasma-gun firing. Then the sound of two missiles flaring to life roared over everything. The missiles hit two dropships that hit two other dropships which slammed into a group of twenty Hunters pinned down by gunfire. Jake threw a pouch with four frag. grenades with one activated at a small group of Jackals creating a wall for the Elites with their shields. The Jackals were blown back and into the Elites. The Elites shimmered silver and the shield died. Carlos suddenly fell from a shot in the back but turned around, grabbed his MA7B-P, and pumped one of the AP clips into a Jackal. The Jackals shield turned red and went out. Carlos switched to a PX clip and tore through the Jackal. The Jackals head fell to the ground simultaneously. Carlos looked back and fired with the plasma-gun. Jorge drove back to the bunkers and let everyone off. I watched the Banshee and Seraph blowing apart Wraiths and Hunters. I looked behind the bunker and saw Kristin firing quick plasma charges in every direction and saw bodies fall to the ground when I looked back at the "war". I took out my MA7B-P and used some PX rounds to tear through oncoming Grunts. The soldiers around me started going down and a plasma bolt hit me in the stomach. My energy shield held but was a hairs breath away from dieing out. Suddenly the car barely missed a shot from a Hunters fuel rod cannon but that made him go in the direction of a group of Special Ops. Grunts charging fuel rod cannons. Jorge swerved to the side but one of the cannons hit the plasma-gun. I ran out from behind the bunker I was at and put in a fresh clip of EX rounds. I blew two Hunters orange spots and finished off the Grunts still charging at Jorge. I swung my assault rifle around my shoulder and grabbed Jorge from the ground. I swung him on top of my left shoulder and grabbed my pistol with my other hand. I fired at a few Jackals but the explosive rounds bounced off and blew up in mid-air. The Jackals retaliated and fired overcharged bolts. I jumped over a few and the last one hit me in the back. My shield had regenerated and took the full blast but I was blown forward. I dropped Jorge who started to wake up and I grabbed my assault rifle. I blew the Jackals into some red grunts coming to help. Jorge stood up and quickly got to his senses and fired at some Elites that had gotten through the barricade of some marines. I threw him a EX clip that he quickly changed and helped him out. The Elites flew over to some Hunters that were stupid enough to kill themselves by blasting their fuel-rod cannons at the Elites in front of them. I threw Jorge over the barricade and ran back to the Spirit. I loaded it up into the compartment under the Seraph the Katina had just landed in front of my and firing at the incoming Covenant group. I grabbed a seat in the back of the plane and got off after Katina landed the ship in the base. The car was dropped out and driven by a marine into the workshop. Someone dropped a nuke further along and left it there with the timer ticking away. I found Jack exhausted behind a bulkhead. He told me to yell for everyone to get in the base or behind a bulkhead. I yelled to the Captain yelling orders to marines. He then told everyone to get in the base and close the doors. The Longswords came into the hanger with the Banshee and Seraph. Tanks and Warthogs came into the lock-up bay. Then the nuke exploded and luckily everyone was in the bottom-most floors because the roof was blown off. Jake had come inside since no one stayed out and he would have had to fight off the Covenant all by himself. All that was heard for and hour was the sound of explosions. Luckily again the vehicles had been moved down also and no one dared go outside. Then a knocking sound on the main door and the sound of footsteps coming shocked everyone. I walked up with my assault rifle ready and carefully unlocked the doors. What came in next was unexpected to all.
The Lost Spartan (Chapter 7)
Date: 9 July 2002, 1:10 am
Chapter 7 A group of marines came in black and dirty. Then a group of two Elites, one Jackal, and two Grunts. The Jackal and Grunts came up and greeted us. "Hello human." an Elite said in a deep voice. The grunts also said in a squeaky voice," Hello, hello!" Everyone let down their assault rifles. We all shook hands but against our wills. "Why are they here?" a Lieutenant named Jackel asked. "The red Elite named Toma who seemed to be in command answered," We didn't want to die and we have vital information that you can use." "Loco and Cazy here are tactical experts," Toma said pointing at the red and silver Grunts," Me and Fomu know where the next attack will be and she," he now pointed to the Jackal," is Chali who knows how to make our weaponry with the right parts." Toma finished. The black (not actual black only Pvt. Jackson) dirty marines were Pvt. Jackson, Lt. Coy, Pvt. Peters, Sgt. Mace, and Pvt. Lickar. All were specialized in combat and Lickar was a sniper who was a girl, go figure, and Sgt. Mace had brought the new allies. The group of marines had been on the next floor up and had found, well heard the grunts shouting in their stupid voices. General Wattson asked if the top floors were still the top floors. Lt. Coy answered that the two above them were the only floors to had survived and that they were in a really deep crater. He finished explaining so I yelled for everyone to move out. We got as high as we could but then the stairs stopped and we came out at the top of the building. We were still too low to just pull ourselves up so I called for a ladder. A midget marine came up (or down) to me with the ladder. His name was Lt. Loct. He was very strong and built for his size. I took the ladder and climbed up onto land, and all there was was land for as far as I could see. I called for everyone to start coming up and the midget came up first. He didn't need any help even though he still couldn't pull himself up because he was able to jump up. I gazed at him but he couldn't see because of my helmet. I thought that maybe he was a Spartan but then is said no way or he would've been in the SII project. I was proven wrong. The midget marine said," Hello, Sam." I told myself how hadn't I noticed him while marines kept going past me. Finally I came back to reality and walked forward. A young, headstrong looking marine called for Evac. The sun boiled on the skin because of the hole in the Ozone made by the nuke. The ten minutes we were here some marines just looked into the clouds of Haven. Other marines loaded new clips into their AR or finished a low clip with five rounds into the dirt. Some would talk to each other about the event that just happened and a sniper tried to see towards the other side of the valley with the 10x zoom. Someone let out a yell saying," Here they come!!" The pelicans flew in close and a breeze cooled the faces of sweating marines but I didn't notice because of my suits gel-stuff. We loaded into the ten pelicans. The vehicles in the base would be picked up later. I was with the Covenant and some marines. The Jackal had turned off his shield. The pilot hesitated when she saw the Covenant but I told her they're with us. I took off my helmet and felt a cool breeze from the inside air-conditioner. We were about to hit the atmosphere when the engine engine broke down. The Pelican headed towards the surface of Haven. I looked out the rear window and saw the other following us in a direct course. A red alarm went off and parachutes fell out of the top compartments in the Pelican. "Holy ****!" yelled a marine Another kept on saying, "Were all going to die, were all going to die!" I put on my parachute. The rest did the same. We had to jump. I opened an emergency door on the side and held on to a bar. I barked at the marines to start jumping. The marines got in line holding the bars on the roof. The Covenant came up but before I could tell them how the parachute worked they jumped. The pilot finally went but before I jumped I strapped on a M6D, my MA7B-P, and stuffed extra clips into my pack. I zipped up and jumped. Many others had started to get out of the other Pelicans. I went zoomed downward and counted for when to take it out. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, I pulled the cord and the parachute didn't come out. I kept on pulling. It still wouldn't come out I was almost to the point of where I couldn't I was too low so I pulled my emergency cord. The parachute came out and I was lifted upward. I slowly looked at all the other people. My HUD suddenly turned on. I looked at the radar, nothing. I looked at motion detectors, nothing. Heat, nothing. I couldn't see what was wrong but then I did. Plasma fire filled the skies. I looked at Toma and saw him shooting back at the Covenant on the surface of Haven. He really was with us but marines were dieing. I grabbed my pistol and zoomed into a group of grunts and picked them off. A horde of Elites came out and shot into their necks. They fell and marines started with their M6D's also. My group that was in the pelican I was in landed and ran behind the boulders. Hunters came out from the wide opening bunched side by side holding their armors together to make a wall type thing. Green glowed from their fuel-rod cannons.

I felt a fuel rod bolt scrape the side of my helmet and my communicator screeched with a high-pitched noise. My feet touched the hard ground and I snapped off my parachute. M6D in hand I ran behind a rock. I felt the boulder rumble from a shot by the incoming wall formation of the Hunters. I aimed at the heads of a group of Black Op. Grunts firing with fuel rod Cannons at marines flinching from the mighty force of the onslaught.
*Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick* *Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Click**Click*
I let out the empty magazine and pulled a new one out of my pocket. *Bash* An Elite had ran around and hit my helmet but luckily my shield took the full force. I finished putting the magazine in and stuck the front of my pistol into his mouth. *Thwick* I turned around from the dead Elite and started firing upon the Hunters. I stopped after five shots because I noticed it wasn't doing anything with the Syphil. I pocketed my M6D and grabbed my MA7B-P. I aimed and blasted two PX rounds into four Grunts closely togethor doing a back to back thing. Weird though since they never used battle tactics. Two marines landed next to me and unclipped thier parachutes. Another had fallen in a lone tree that had survived the nuke somehow. I pulled him down and called the three marines into a huddle. "Look i'm gonna hit the head of the middle hunter and move along to the left." the three looked confused cause they didn't know what I was talking about. I started explaining the part for them to do. "One of you will shoot the neck and the another will shoot the stomach while me and the other guy shoot the heads of the Hunters." Ooooooooh was the answer from the three.
The spanish looking guy started going to the right with his M6D. I did the same but to the left and as I predicted the hunters started staggering from the explosive rounds and were killed by the AR fire from the other two marines. The other marines scattered around got new confidence with this tumbling wall of the Hunters. We finished them off after two used clips each pistol. I told the marines to run to the other small groups in need of help. Jackals and Grunts fell dramatically at that time when they had lost confidence because off no higher ranks. sNot many were left when at least a hundred little things started coming out of the entrance of the base. I noticed it was the flood so I grabbed a Frag. grenade and tossed it at them. I had been told about these little things that eat you up from a video taken by a marine. Many others did the same and the number lessened. But the leftover ten got into Elites even though I didn't see the tenth I knew it was there because I had counted them right after the explosions. The now infested carcasses mutated into Flood Warriors and four marines were hit down quickly but a few others took them down. I counted the flood warriors on the floor and came up with nine. I looked around for the tenth. An overcharged plasma bolt hit my back at point blank. My armor was smoking and my back felt like it was on fire. I turned around and saw something wierd.
A Spartan stood in front of me with dents and cuts along his body and he was small. He spoke in a deep voice,"Sam, *deep breath**deep breath*, I am your father." "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" *record scratches* "Wait.......no your not." "*normal voice* Okay, but I wanted to say that and why don't you recognize me?" It answered. "How would I know you if I don't even know who you are." was my answer. "I am your old friend, remember, Jake." He told me. Then it struck me. "Oh yeah, I remember from the Spartan II project. They said you died on Reach." "They think I'm dead but I got on an abandoned dropship before the planet exploded. And sorry about the plasma bolt in the back, I thought you were an Elite." He answered quickly. Jake had grown and had been in Space and colonies where he found food and water to survive. I grabbed his hand and he helped me get up. We came out from behind the rock and everyone cheered. AR fire burst into the sky and we had a celebration with fireworks (hint hint). Needlers, grenades and plasma bolts filled the dark sky that night at the base and we all had a feast of Grunt meat which most marines didn't want to eat but were asking for more after tasting it.

Jake woke me up and gave me my weapons. I had fallen asleep with my armor luckily. The base rumbled and no one had called for evac yet because of the party. Men screamed from plasma grenades and I heard grunts yelling while firing at the poor marines who had been sneaked up on by the Covenant forces. I ran through the hallways and through the doors with Jake leading closely. I came up to an opening and heard a Hunters footstep. I grabbed my MA7B-P and put in a few EX rounds and had another clip of PX rounds ready. Jake had his M6D at the ready. Marines came behind us and readied MA6B's. Not one person shot until they saw the gray of the armor. That was the worst idea that could've been thought of. I pumped the EX rounds along with other marines at the Hunter but he didn't even get a scratch. He stepped out of the darkness and the new armor shined in the light. He was covered all over and not even the orange belly or neck was showing. A marine yelled Frag out so we all tossed some but that didn't even leave a mark on him. The silver monster laughed and didn't even try to used his souped-up fuel rod cannon that shot mini-plasma rockets. The beast ran at us and everyone got out of the way. Some marines jumped on top of him which was the last thing they did cause they were burned to pieces by a the armor which had a heat-thing to burn off any plasma-grenades but work exceptionally well on marines also. A marine ran passed him towards the communications room and was lucky to have dodged a plasma-rocket. My team came out of the hallway leading to the bunks. I yelled for them to go to the armory and find some heavy weaponry. They did that just in time cause another rocket had taken flight. I grabbed a marine and told him to get a Jackals shield from the battlefield and bring a few more for everybody. I sent another one with him. He came back and the fitting was tight but it would have to do. I told Jake to go to the hanger. He ran passed the hunter and I went behind him. A rocket came at us and when we change corridor and so did it. "Oh, crap!" yelled Jake and he put on his turbo (he doesn't really have a turbo it just means he ran faster). We ran into the hanger that was filled with marines hiding behind crates. I ran to a ghost and jumped over it and got behind a crate. The ghost exploded in orange flames. I ran into the seat of a Banshee and flew out the door. Mini-rockets flew towards me so I did a maneuver to get behind the plasma rockets and fired a few plasma bolts at them. My ship went through the blue explosion and I headed back to the hanger where gunshots were being fired. The Hunter laughed at every single shot fired at him. I came in at full speed and dropped a fired my fuel rod cannons. Smoke overcame the beast and everyone waited to see the damage.

All watched as the trademark vaporous contours of smoke started to clear, slowly but surely it parted in the center and everyone cheered at the sight of a Hunter with an astonishingly large crack in its abdomen. Orange blood spewed forth like air to the bellows of a trained blacksmith. My team of marines came in through the Hanger opening, walking around the massive form of that very same Hunter.
Carlos followed suit, two RLs on his back and an MA6B hanging from each shoulder via toughened straps. He accidentally tripped on the massive metallic brute and walked over to us.
I grabbed a rocket launcher and shoved a missile in. Jake 098, not to be confused with a marine, grabbed the other one and he too, "shoved a rocket in." Everyone's attention was on something else, we all thought the hunter was dead. How wrong we were.
From unseen hands a mini-plasma rocket streaked by Carlos' head. I spun around roughly 180 degrees and took a gander as the Hunter lifted itself up, each of my squad mates turned, assessing the problem for themselves.
"Carlos, why did you step on him?" Shrieked Kirsten, slapping him over the head. He rubbed his make believe wound, simultaneously leveling his rocket launcher.
"No!" I shouted menacingly. He looked over at me and fired off two of the deadly projectiles. "Sorry."
I looked towards the Hunter just in time to see him explode, a rocket had hit the opening of its fuel rod cannon, which had caused a chain-reaction throughout its body, literally killing it from the inside out. Marines cheered and ran through the hanger doors, into the hallways and onto the Battlefield, recognizing a group of Covenant forces they hadn't been found earlier. The alien bastards fell quickly at the hands of the combined new force. They'd relied on their new weapon too much. A few marines had managed to get shot in the chest or side, but the wounds usually weren't serious.
"Well, of course I planned that." answered Jake 098, who was talking to a few snipers who had been in the hanger when the rockets had taken flight. He had always been trying to get the girls, but had never succeeded but he had his chance right now to get at least one. I watched as he took a woman by the arm. Her body was not unattractive, complete with black hair, dark skin, and deep, intense blue eyes. Basically his dream, or, if not, pretty damn close it.
"Good choice" I said to myself. He waved at me as he strode down the hall towards the bunkers, smiling with a look of delight and an aura of happiness.
I shook my head. Lucky guy, just because of some cocky bravado he got the girl, this just wasn't my day. I moved across the hanger, making sure that I averted my gaze from anyone curious enough to look my way, since eye contact would likely encourage someone to fall in step beside me and shout stupid things like "Hey, your friend is really something isn't he?" I'd probably reply with the words "Yeah, sure is." Not really giving a damn whether or not they cared.
The Lost Spartan (Chapter 11 The End of Days)
Date: 8 September 2002, 9:29 pm
Sam woke up from a bunk and heard the roar of Pelican dropships. He jumped up and pocketed his pistol when Jake came in calling him. They walked togethor to the last dropship. They jumped in and Sam stood holding the top rail bar. He breathed in his last breath of air before the doors closed his helmet he had put in the top compartment. He thought about his journey that he had come to recieve.
It was strange being made for such a purpose. The doors suddenly opened and he looked through the opening at his crew waiting for him that came on another dropship. He smiled and jumped down. They walked to the cafeteria and ate a few hamburgers and had a few cokes. He finished early and went to the Genereals office, the head officer at the base.
"Sir, I have come for another task to do." He said as he saluted. The General got up. "Well, I do have one mission left, and it would be well guarded in your hands." The General looked at him. Sam didn't want to feel too anxious. He relaxed and sat down in a chair. "I will gladly accept this task that shall be put upon me." Sam answered. "Ok, then it's settled, you will be sent to The Oni facility in 6 hours so pack up. "Thank you, Sir." Sam saluted and left through the doors. He went to his group of marines at the cafeteria.
"Well, guess what." He said looking at them. "Pass, what is it?" Jorge said. "I'm leaving to the Oni Facility in 6 hours." Sam smiled behind his helmet visor. "Then lets get packed." Kristin rose up. "Well, the problem with this mission is that i'm going alone." Sam looked at them. He took off his helmet.
Sams crew looked at him with shocked looks. "Sir, Is there any way we can go or at least one of us?" Jake looks at him with a hinting look. Jorge sees the look on Jakes face and gets in front of Jake,"That's only because you want to be the one.," He looks at Jake with an accusing face. Jake counters by saying,"I have no idea what you are talking about." The feud between the two is turned into a group queral and Sam sneaked away to pack.
He stuffed his clothing not noticing the wrinkling he was doing and closed his suitcase when he could feel no more clothing in his last drawer. His weapons lay on his bunk next to a case and bag. He took apart his AG2 pistol and puts the machine-gun in his duffle bag. A few greandes went into the side pocket and clips went in the other one for his assault rifle while the case for his pistol had a place to put clips.
He lifted the duffle bag over his shoulder. He used one hand each to hold the case of his pistol and his suitcase. As he walked down the hallway friends said their last farewells and into the launching bay he went. His stuff was taken and placed in a storage box in the pelican and he was lifted up into the skies that he would travel. The pelican ascended into space and landed on a carrier. The ship was headed for the Oni facility where the plans were. He looked down at the planet where his friends were. An escort came up to him and led him to a cryo-chamber for the journey. They jumped into hyperspace with a few people in other cryo-tubes as well.
I was awoken on the Oni facility platforms next to a pelican. My arms raised him from the ground as I took in my surroundings. I was to live here for an unknown amount of time. Another escort that was a bit spanish but with russian looking features took me to my bunk. I put my stuff away by my bunk. I walked down the great crowded hall to my higher officer. The door finally came with a bronze piece of metal on the door. Carved into it was the name General Watkinz. I entered through the oak door and into the room.
A bright whiteness came from everywhere except anything which was a different color (desk, filecabinet, gunrack, etc.). The floor was a white and blue tile pattern. The chair behind the sturdy wooden desk turned in a 180ƒ turn towards the green figure. "You must be Samuel 087 from the Spartan II project many a year back. How old are you?" finished the general asking. "In my thirties, I lost track." The tall figure answered to the grey haired man. "Really..........But Reach was lost somewhere between 500-700 years ago and you were assumed dead around thirty years before that." He stood up, his piercing eyes looking into Me. I stood there taking this in. "Don't answer son." the General came into his thoughts once more. "You're dismissed. Wait, well you should report everyday to room D85 at the botoom floor for 14 hours a day where food will be brought to you at noon." He finished and sat down. I saluted, turned step and walked out the door. I walked to the elevator, went to the bottom floor, and into room D85 where I stayed, left, ate dinner, and slept. This became my daily schedule. A few times a marine or two would come in and keep me company but it would only be for 30 minutes or so. These marines I met in the cafeteria at dinner. I became good friends with some and just friends with others.
