The Chronicles of Heros: Part 1
Date: 16 August 2004, 10:47 PM
Michael J. Simmons had a normal life. He lived with his wife, two kids, and a nice house. The UNSC had treated this hero well. All of that ended when he was sent to Outpost 4.
THE CHRONICLES OF HEROS: Part 1: Lieutenant Michael J. Simmons
"Get me heavy fire on the west side!" yelled Lieutenant Colonel Michael J. Simmons. He was pouring out SMG fire into the band of 100 Covenant. Almost all of the grunts died in the first second of the fight. The rest of the squad unloaded their SMG into the crowd. It was a rain of bullets, they couldn't move without dying. Lieutenant Anthony Davis ran up to Simmons. "We got 12 dead, 5 wounded, and 1 MIA." he said. Simmons frowned, then he immediately said "Alright....give the dead ones a proper burial. I'll look for that MIA." he said. Before Anthony could object, he was gone. He looked around, and found Simmons on the outpost wall, scaling down. He was armed with a MAB7, a MA57, and numerous grenades. He was wearing the armor used during the Baltic Campaign, black armor with the symbol of a Eagle holding a MA57. It kinda looked like the MJOLNIR armor used by the Spartan-IIs. He got down, and expertly cut the line, then moved into the dense forest surrounding the outpost. Armed with his Battle Rifle, he moved forward, darting from tree to tree. His armor had a camouflage setting onto it. That helped pick the color of the armor so it blended in, not like the camouflage used by the Covenant, going into a shimmer when it bends light. He darted from tree to tree for about 10 minutes until he reached a canyon wall. A Covenant base camp was set up, with a cage in the middle. He gasped as he saw two humans being bullied. One was taken out, and was shot in the head. A rage filled inside Mike's heart. He quickly took aim and slowed his breathing. He squeezed the trigger, the bullet going straight and landed right on the Elite's eye socket, going straight into it's brain. The Covenant didn't take noticed, Mike made sure. He un-screwed the silencer off. He slid down the hill's side, then took up a position around the camp. The sun was high in the air, the land hilly and straight. He felt at peace right where he was. He decided to wait until nightfall. He took a breathe and fell asleep.
He woke up, seeing bars. He rubbed his eyes and saw that he was in the cage. "Hello Colonel." said the MIA solder. Mike looked at him and gasped. The MIA was wearing the bearings of a Major General. "Sir!" he said. The general smiled. "No need Colonel. In fact, from reading your record, I should be saluting you." he said, smiling. Mike then realized something. "These bars....they wired into a electrical current?" he asked. The general realized his plan. "No." he said. Mike looked around for Covenant. Not a god damn one. He put his feet at the base of the bars in front of him. He pulled as hard as he could. The sound of metal crunching together was heard, and the bars broke. They got out of the cell, then proceeded to the armor. Only one elite was there. Mike punched into it's back, his hand breaking into the skin and ripping the meat. The general grabbed it's head and snapped it. Mike was surprised at the general's way to kill. He smiled, pulled Mike up, and motioned him to follow. They went inside the armory, and found the mother load. Grenades, Weapons, and a shit load of captured human weapons. They looked at the pile of grenades. Mike whistled. General Kerona looked at them, then took eight. He disabled the wiring functions, then look like he was tinkering with it. Mike picked up a M90, a plasma sword, and a MAB7. He also grabbed a SPNK rocket launcher. He loaded it up max. He also grabbed the necessary ammo for the guns as well. He looked back at the general. "What the fuck are you doing, sir?" he asked. He saw the general wire 8 grenades together in a box. "When we leave, I'm giving them a surprise." he said. Mike handed him the shotgun and they left the building. Kerona set the time for 15 minutes. "Come on, let's go." Mike said. All of a sudden, Grunts poured out of the tents. Kerona and Mike unloaded on them. They shot and ran. They ran into the forest, Covenant on their tail. Mike yelled out "What else did you wire to that bomb?!". Kerona yelled back "All of those equal a ten-megaton bomb.". Mike's eyes grew huge. They ran into the compound. 2 minutes read on the watch. The marines piled into Pelicans. Kerona and Mike were arguing about who should get on the Last Pelican. Mike punched him, and Kerona landed into the seat. The door to the Pelican closed. He turned around, Covenant armed with Plasma swords were around him. He activated his SPNK. The Covenant looked around him and growled. He fired into the middle of the crowd, then activated his plasma sword. He began to swipe at them, killing 4 every time.
The Covenant High Priest went into the armory and laughed at the human weapons. Then he noticed the box with the numbers 00:5 on it. He stopped smiling, then hissed. As it read 2, he yelled out "DAMN U HUMANS!!!!". His lights went blue in his eyes as his world went black.... Mike looked at the explosion. He cried, thinking about his children and his wife. He stopped crying, then looked into the crowd of Covenants. Remembering the old movie Braveheart, he yelled out "For Freedom!!!!". The Covenant stopped yelling. Mike's world went black....
The explosion engulfed the base, along with some of the countryside. The night sky went a dark blue. The color of the plasma and frag went into a mushroom cloud. All of the marines, special forces, and civilians everywhere, yelled out "Remember Michael J. Simmons!". He became the only hero besides the Master Chief to give the UNSC hope. He showed a lot of people how to live their lives to the fullest. He fought and died for freedom. No one will forget him.
