----------------------------------------------------------- 0700 Hours, 16 July 2663(Military Calendar) Planet Gamma Centauri 5 Hilly Region aprox. 40 Degrees North Latitude, by 80 Degrees East Longitude
The Covenant camp was totally vulnerable from the hill with the foliage Alpha Squad was concealed in. Lance Corporal Peters pulled back the bolt on his M8592 Sniper Rifle, and inserted a clip. The weapon clicked, and Peters leveled it. "Alpha 2, in position," He called over his Squad's Comm. Channel. "Copy," Said the voice of Squad Leader Master Sergeant Johnson, and Peters heard the audible click of a Colt/Browning C/B- 162 "Stinger" Rocket Launcher in the background. Peters activated the smart-linked scope on the Rifle, Times 7. He focused on a likely looking Golden Elite with a Plasma Sword, talking to a squad of Golden Jackals. Hm... a rare prize. The guys back at Bravo Base would be really impressed, if he downed one of those. "FIRE!" The radio turned off then. Peters's gun barked four times, and the Elite went down. The Jackals scattered. Two missiles hit the enemy troops, and many a mangled Covie's body flew up. Seven MA9B Assault Rifles barked, and the 7 Assaulters in the group ran towards the enemy. "Oh no! More enemies!" Screamed a beleaguered Grunt, and he popped from the 9.51 mm Bullets hitting him. "Worp! Worp! Worp!" A Red Elite charged at a Marine as he reloaded his AR, but Peters got it. 1st Class Private Jerry Lanto looked up at his benefactor, and gave the thumbs-up. Then, he resumed killing the Covenant. Within 4 Minutes, the battle was over. "That was almost TOO easy," Said Major Corporal Rico over the radio. And, as if to answer, Lance Corporal Mendoza announced over the radio, "Uh oh! Covenant Dropships, incoming! Look sharp!" 7 Dropships, from different directions, approached the destruction of the Camp. They all sat down, and pure Hunters emerged from each one. After the last behemoth was on the surface, they took off. "Focus all fire on them, now!" Barked the Sarge, and a mosaic of Firepower arched down into the Hunters. Several fell, the rest were pissed off. They fired their weapons, and many close-calls were had. Peters was personally responsible for four of them. Then, Sarge ordered the retreat into the depression behind them. "I called for Evac," Added Ensign Betoven, the only navy among them, and the Squad Radio Operator, "Should be here in a sec." The Hunters climbed over, just as Pelican Delta 793 lifted off with the Marines. "Thanks," Said the Sarge, as they climbed high above the furious Hunters. "No problem, jar head," Said the pilot. They both smiled. As for Peters, he was glad to have the footage of him killing a Gold Elite on his Mission Recorder. Oh, boy! The other Marines would finally respect the sniper. You see, it was like this. Normal Infantry didn't like snipers, who had it safe above the battle, nit-picking enemy forces. The snipers didn't know how the Normal Marines could stand being about 10 Meters from the enemy. So, as you can imagine, rivalry is high. So far, the normal Marines had a slight lead in kills, but the Gold Elite should even the score! That kept a smirk on his face all the way back to Bravo Base.

"Ok, you win, Peters," Said a reluctant Private, as he forked over some big money to the sniper. "Pleasure doing business with you," Sneered the Corporal, as he walked away. Oh boy! There must have been over $ 10,000 in here, all for killing a Gold Elite. Not that he would probably live long enough to spend it, mind you. Even being a sniper was mighty hazardous, vs. an alien Juggernaught. But, that didn't worry him one bit. But something would happen that would worry em all.
Peters lay in his bed, tweaking with his Sniper Rifle. He'd gotten special permission from the Sarge to do so; it was usually against regulations. General Order 245625232452-D, was it? Yes, it was. He had just increased to clip size on it to 7, and the Magnification power to x23, and put away his modding tools. Red klaxons and lights filled every room in the base. Peters sprang to his feet, SR at the ready. He then sprinted the length of the hallway, passing a panicking Marine. He arrived outside shortly. 9 Other Marines(And the Ensign) were already there, and had weapons raised. Peters was stopped cold when he saw what the fuss was about; over 80 Covenant Dropships grew near...

Chief: Um... Flood, could you hold on a second? I'll be right with ya! Combat Form: Um... I guess. But make it quick, will you? I gotta get blown up, it's my job! Oh, and killing Marines. (Flood walk back to hallway, and talk quietly amongst themselves) Infection Form #1: What's your favorite food? Infection Form #2: Humans. The Elite are a bit to sour for my taste. The Adventures of Alpha Squad, Part Two
Date: 24 October 2003, 6:19 PM
0745 Hours, 16 July 2663(Military Calendar)/ Planet Gamma Centauri 5, Bravo Base
"Marines! Battle Stations! Betoven, get us a evac ASAP! Everyone else, get ready for a helluva show!" Johnson Barked, and his men went into action. Peters went back in the main building, and climbed to the Ammo Stores(Conveniently Located on the top floor). From the East window, he could snipe all day. And, he'd just finished modifying 20 Clips of Sniper Ammo to his gun. Johnson radioed for the sniper, and Peters made ready. The first dropship produced 2 Red Elites, and 6 Red Grunts. Peters downed them all, except a last elite, who was Fragged by Lanto. 4 More flew down, and the Marines whooped them. 8 More now tried a run, but a Rocket Launcher silenced 2 before they even landed. Hunters poured out of the Dropships, and pressed their assault, making the Marines retreat into the main building. As finally the last hunter fell, a dozen more dropships surrounded the compound. "This is Pelican Echo 934 to Bravo Base. Ready for Evac!" "Negative, we can't get to you," Said the Sarge into the radio, while Fraging the next hallway. "Then I'll come to you. Move to the roof, and I'll come." "Roger." The Marines were confined to the top floor now, and an Elite had just crushed another make-shift barrier of tales, chairs, and a few ammo boxes. He was met by one hundred bullets from the M242 Mounted Machine Gun, being manned by the Sarge. He then slammed some more bullets into the ammo receptor. They made another barricade, and retreated to the rooftop. The Pelican FINALLY flew up to the building, and filled up on Alpha Squad. The door to the top floor burst open, and a pair of monstrous Hunters ran out, Fuel Rod Guns at the ready. "Uh oh," Said a Marine, and manned the Tail Gun. It promptly shredded one with 600 bullets. The bullets tore apart the Hunter, and a gallon of orange blood spilled out onto the building, making a lake of death. The other fired once. A hiss sounded, and the green blob exploded into green light near the Pelican, rocking it. The Tail Gun roared, as another 400 rounds liquidated the other Hunter where it stood. "Nice one!" Yelled Peters, and the Pelican began to rise. It went higher and higher, and then rushed forward. "Well, that was a nutbuster," Said Lanto, and he slumped back in his seat. Nobody could argue much with the Private.
1100 Hours, UNSC Capitol Ship Pegasus/ Peters just finished re-modifying his Sniper Rifle to switch magazines at will with no clip changing; effectively giving it 90mm Shotgun Shells, 9.72 caliber AR Rounds, 12.99mm Sniper Rounds, and a single M10 Grenade to launch. He put his tools under the bunk for use later. Then his roommate, another sniper, Minor Sergeant Kirby, came in through the door. "Hey," He said. "Hello, Kirby," Replied the Sniper, and got up to exit. The potent sniper exited, and took a walk around the Ship. He saw Engineering, the Missile Racks, MAC Launchers, the Armory, and the Launch Bay. The Marine was so bored. There was nothing to kill! Surprising, considering there were 120.7 Billion god damn Covenant troops out there; most searching for Earth. Gamma Centauri was only half a light-year from Earth, and Alpha Squad helped to slow the enemy advance. "Sir, Cap'n Fitzgerald wants you on the Bridge, ASAP," Said a Tech, emerging out of the door into the Launch Bay. The Marine instantly responded, and rushed towards the Command Deck. In 3 minutes, he was there. The rest of Alpha Squad was assembled, also. "Ah, good. You're all here," Said the Captain, and looked at each of the Elite Marines. "I have a mission for you. The Mystic, one of our ships crippled in a battle, holds it NAV Data still. The Officers failed to enact Cole Protocol, and Earth's location is at risk. You must get to that data, and destroy it, before the Covenant." "But, why don't the Covies just blow up the ship?" "They know it's value. They've dispatched two ships to retrieve it. Fleet has sent us as the answer. We'll arrive 1 Hour Before the Covies, and drop all our Marines off. Then, we scoot it out of range. When you need us, send a Beacon and we'll rush in. If the green button is pushed, we'll come in for retrieval. If someone hits the Red Button, we rush in, Weapons at full power to pull your asses out of the fire." "Understood," Said the Sarge, and Alpha Squad moved out to the Launch Bay to get a ride. The little siren sounded, meaning they were out of Slipspace. The ship rumbled a bit, and The Marines had to hold on to something, because of a little fold wave created by warping dimensions. They then climbed aboard one of the 6 Pelicans in the bay, and the rest of the Marines followed. With a roar, the Pelicans rose in unison. "Hang on to somthin'," Said a pilot to Alpha Squad. The Pelican shook, as it roared forward and out of the artificial gravity; into space. The Marines all buckled their safety belts to keep from flying. Peters's Pistol flew free, and the Sarge caught it. He threw it back, and Peters holstered it and closed the holster double tight. They neared the Crippled Hulk now. From a window, Peters could see the hull, which was black and charred, but surprisingly whole. The Noncom suspected the Covies wanted the data from this ship, even in the battle. So it got only enough firepower to disable -not destroy- it. Clever Bastards, He thought. So now, they had 45 Minutes to find it, in a ship that would take 6 Hours at least by trained Salvage Teams(Like the Covies') to do so.
