Shell Shock- chapter 1:

Shell Shock -Chapter 1 by: Myth
Tyrell Fitzgerald, Shifty Patterson and Collin Borne ran down the long corridors of the Samurai, killing a detachment of covenant troopers. Shifty unleashed a fury of MA6B slugs upon a gold armored veteran. The black clad Elites behind him activated energy lances and rushed forward. Fitzgerald and Borne knelt and fired with their assault rifles. "One down- two! Oh yeah!" Borne called, his thick Australian accent revealing itself. Tyrell slid a flesh magazine home and crouched, securing a door. Davidson and Scott, both firing M90 shotguns, backed through a closing blast door. Another human made a desperate leap and made it into the room, beating the threatening heavy door. Stocks, Barnes, Brant, and Jones just entered via the access tunnels. Sergeant Ryan and his four man squad followed. "Ell-tee! The squad's is ready to roll sir!" Fitzgerald called to Conner Davidson. The marines filed into their pelicans, and secured their harnesses. The airlocks slowly shut, and the troopships departed back towards Earth. Lt. Jamie O'Brian landed the pelican on an aircraft carrier in the Hudson Bay. After the team reported in, Echo 205 loaded up and jetted towards her objective. Tyrell fingered off the safety of his weapon but was interrupted by a strong jolt. The door gun opened up, and then Stocks checked the pilot. The man's head was completely engraved; blood soaked the entire dashboard and his uniform. Lance Corporal Andrew Schneider put a hand on his shoulder signaling that the time had come to leave. Schneider took over the controls and crash landed the troop craft. Barnes barked, "Open firing!" as he hurled a fragmentation grenade. The noncom blasted an Elite to his chosen afterlife, and Fitzgerald bought down another with a burst from the assault weapon. Schneider exited the pelican and took out an unsuspecting Brute. "Vat should slow him!" Andrew yelled, his German accent bellowing. "Mate, cover me!" Borne ordered to Scott and slid under a natural bunker under an overgrown root. He smiled smugly and planted the mines; Collin got up and sprinted over a few alien bodies and into a foxhole, taking cover. Tyrell watched the Covenant disappear into a red-orange ensuing explosion. Davidson and Scott decimated the survivors. "Fire team Alpha, assemble!" Master Sergeant Fitzgerald barked. Sergeant Jeremy Ryan, Stocks and Schneider, took the LRV Warthog that had survived the crash. Tyrell watched the 'hog speed towards the already growing city.
Jeremy caught two purple aircraft in his peripheral vision. The Covenant dropships descended awhile away from the LRV, yet the troopship's soldiers were bound to be headed to the crash-site, Ryan forced himself to get to the city. The Warthog sped in, rushing by a cautious firing squad of soldiers, "What the- Stocks was cut off by a well-aimed fuel rod blast. The plasma heavy round bashed the Warthog over, spilling all three humans. Jeremy was the first one up and had recovered his assault rifle, firing knelt down. Schneider did the same, swearing in German as the Hunter charged. Stocks eyed the Hunter with his S2 AM and fired. The MA5B rounds merely pinged off the powerful armor, but the 14.5mm round tore through the neck of the alien and felled him. The starboard side of the LRV was partially melted, the olive green paint peeling into the puddle of melted metal and tire rubber. Ryan ran to the nearest marine team, which the other Hunter was keeping very busy. The sergeant squeezed the trigger and peppered the leathery neck and back. "Good to see you sir!" a friendly private called to him. Jeremy smiled and nodded. "Who's your CO Private?" the noncom asked. "I guess that would be me." One corporal raised his hand. Jeremy swore under his breath. A small, scorched barricade sat to the right and a Warthog, which only had the back end, protected the left. Ryan could see a few chain gun emplacements, but the operators lay in various locations. "Hold up, mate." Scott said raising his rifle. Three shots echoed off the plasma burned buildings.
Tyrell fired a long ten round burst, and the combatant fell. Fitzgerald dumped the empty AR, and snatched up a fallen Grunt's plasma rifle and grenades. The noncom checked his HUD in the left eye piece of the battle helmet. Energy charge read 92%, this Grunt wasn't too adventurous. Barnes tossed off his helmet and slammed a few shells into the receiver of his shotgun. Barnes wore his brown hair short and regulation, his shotgun lay on the ground as he recovered a few plasma grenades, Barnes swiped a steam of midnight red blood off his cheek, the leatherneck recovered his weapon, slinging it over his shoulder picking up a plasma rifle along with it. The rest of the team lay in some other valley fighting off covenant attempting to gain entrance to the city. Barnes and Fitzgerald were scouts but were soon separated. Tyrell led the way through fallen trees, under the wreck of a covenant dropship, and through what had been a long battle. Barnes knelt down and turned a marine over from his stomach. The leatherneck's face was partially melted off along with a two-foot slash across his torso. Five more soldiers appeared similar and a Warthog husk harbored one marine missing his legs with another without a head, which the third had been hosed with plasma from his pectorals up. Tyrell winced at their gruesome deaths and gently pried an assault weapon out of the sergeant's dead fingers. The Covenant bodies lay on the opposite side of the river were just as grisly, an Elite tank commander slumped over the hatch, and 7.62mm peppered his visor and face. "Where now Sarge?" Corp. Barnes pondered. "HUD reads the city is over this hill." After passing a team of dead Elites, the city appeared and Barnes and Fitzgerald were engulfed in a blazing firefight. The noncoms fired on the aliens, the spraying shells tearing them apart. One Elite charged, but Fitzgerald cut him down with his M9D. "Enemy forces eliminated, area secure." Barnes said.
"Covering fire! Covering fire!" One marine ordered. Jeremy fired his assault rifle at the Grunt that wielded a fuel rod gun, the creature fell with a scream as the shells punched through him. The sergeant fired the last of his clip and slapped in a new one. Jeremy rose again and luckily wasn't hit by the green plasma shot that streamed overhead. The private's head was blown off its shoulder's just then. Ryan cursed as the Corporal was sliced in half by an energy lance. Schneider fired a burst and dodged a blast, unfortunately the last member of the other firing squad was pumped with a salvo of needles, the man screamed and the explosive rounds detonated, tearing the marine into various pieces. "Vill vat hold them?" Schneider yelled as he hurled a plasma grenade into the fray. The device fused to an Elite's helm and blew him away with several other Jackals. "Fall back, fall back, dang it marines, fall back!" Jeremy called Schneider felled another Brute and spun on his heel, sprinting. Keith Barnes and Tyrell Fitzgerald continued forward. Keith saw flashes of sniper rounds fling from a nearby tree. "Jones!" Tyrell said. Lance Corporal Samuel Jones cocked his head, activating his helmet lamp, which instantly revealed Tyrell and Keith. Jones vaulted from the high branch, landing on his feet, his S2 AM barrel up and ready to fire. "Where's Davidson?" Fitzgerald asked the Corporal. Sam swung his head left, and then he drawled, "They entered the city a half hour ago." Jones slung a satchel and was ready to move. Then the unthinkable happened....... "Oh crap."

Shell Shock -Chapter 2 By: Myth
Tyrell saw his squad up ahead and sprinted there. Davidson blew a Jackal off its feet. The lieutenant spun and fired the shotgun from his shoulder, then alternating to his hip. Borne and Scott worked together and mowed down a few stragglers. Jones lay on the freeway, which was now covered in wrecked vehicles and bodies. A wing of Banshees with a brace of Ghosts to match, hovered and flew through the borders of the city, Phantoms, Wraiths and troopships made an unfortunate arrival. Ryan, Stocks and Schneider ran into the perimeter. "WE HAVE TO LEAVE NOW!" Jones screamed, running down a staircase. Fitzgerald's motion tracer went wild, red contacts appeared and the yellow ones began to be eliminated. "All right boys lets get the heck outta here!" Davidson ordered. The marines sprinted through the edge of the city, and then were confronted by a Ghost. The concentrated fire of the marines, the Elite fell from the Ghost helplessly. Several Grunts crouched into a gully. Tyrell let his assault rifle eat them up with the armor piercing rounds. Fitzgerald pushed exhaustion out of his mind while they approached the battle plain, still littered with corpses. A Banshee got the zero on their location and fired the plasma upon them. The trees lay ahead, but they weren't close enough. Two rocket launcher-wielding leathernecks from another squad knelt and took aim. The first was killed by a lance of plasma and the second fired his tube. The alien craft then ceased to exist. The clearing ahead held three pelican troopships. Two were full and Tyrell and his men filed into the last one. Delta 246 elevated and sprang ahead. Tyrell saw the city's combatants, humans and covenant alike run from the city as a mini cruiser fired upon the area, completely glassing it.
Dante 'Fasamee walked throughout the interior of his ship. The Ship Master and the Field Master were arguing about the death of friendly troops in the glassing of the city. 'Fasamee continued through the bridge to a pair of Brutes, who were talking in a tongue Dante never bothered to learn. He made his way to the scientific department, which harbored two Flood infection forms, and one ex-Elite and an infected human. All of which were supposedly dead. They were suspended on anti grav canisters and the room was guarded by two Brutes, their machetes at ready. 'Fasamee prodded the infection form and made the short trip to the lift. The lift descended to the armory and the depots. The Elite cycled through a security arch, which removed his dress golden armor and his black combat armor fit into place. His fellow lower classes Elites were clad in the new grey-green battle suits. All of the aliens saluted, a closed fist directed towards him. "Remoecadoc de tion sgera Gera saoe zaa jock." 'Fasamee said in their own tongue. The Elites cheered at the sound that they were chosen for a holy mission. The warrior class of 20 highly trained Elites, selected various weapons from the armory racks. 'Tomazee and three other Elites chose fuel rod guns, four others took needlers, two possessed the extended range plasma sniper rifle, and the others donned plasma rifles and energy lances. Delta 246 flew past Alpha Base and through the atmosphere towards T-418 combat outpost, which was mostly made up of space docks, but the interiors were that of a standard UNSC cruiser except much, much larger. The station was in orbit and was now very close to the moon. Tyrell secured his helmet and adjusted his vacuum suit. 246 touched down on a platform near the Samurai, which was surprising in good shape. Fitzgerald ambled across the catwalk, his MA5B resting over his shoulder. A Warthog skidded across a docking bay far below. Tyrell walked to the rest of his team and then continued inside. Two hours later a covenant cruiser staged an assault. Attack pods slammed onto the docking bays, Jackals and Grunts in environmental suits fired upon marines. After the marines worked together, killing every covenant in sight, the battle appeared to be over. Then came the Elites. Tyrell knelt down and fired a sustained burst into the lead alien. The armor piecing rounds punched holes in the shields, which flared and atmosphere vented. The Elite sunk to the ground, his hand clenching his throat.
'Fasamee pasted by the suffocating figure of 'Tomazee and fired at the vacuum sealed marines. Dante took careful aim at the fusion packs on the suits. Fasamee fired his weapon, a direct hit! The human fell to the ground a mere two seconds later. Its friends helped him up but the Elite killed them both. The man with the damaged tank was forced to stay still until his oxygen drained. 'Fasamee was aiming for the next human when a series of assault weapon bursts pounded against his side. His HUD screamed, showing the various breaches in his armor. Dante winced as his blood began to leak from his suit. "Assistance! I need help now!" Fasamee ordered to two of his comrades.
Barnes lay on the deck plates, feeling suffocation nearing. His fusion pack was breached by a lucky shot and Schneider with someone else died trying to save him. His vision blurred, but he felt being picked up and slung over a shoulder. Fitzgerald carried Barnes into a vacuum sealed M.A.S.H. unit. Tyrell tossed off Barnes' helmet and the marine gasped for air. "Thanks Sarge..." he said breathing deeply. "No problem marine, now seal a temporary pack and get inside." Fitzgerald commanded. Tyrell ran outside, assault rifle raging. The Elites had been collecting Jackal shields and using them to protect their suits. But Tyrell would use their own trick against him. "Jones! Jones!" He screamed, "Aim for the backs of the Elites!" Jones nodded and fired.
Marines on the west side were catching up on the tactics, but the assault on the East side left the troopers very near a complete massacre. One Longsword fighter flew over head, seeing the flashes of assault rifles and the blue streaks of plasma. Figures appearing to be marines sent a volley of Jackhammer rockets smashing into a covenant drop craft, which killed every alien inside it. The pilot sent several controlled blasts from the MAG minis and took out a dropship with a G41 tactical rocket. Jeremy Ryan fired again and again with his captured Plasma Rifle, but more and more covenant kept materializing into the battle. O'Hannison primed a frag, but was cut down by a dropship Shade turret. Two leathernecks died in the frag's explosion. "Martin, gimme covering fire!" Jeremy ordered to one soldier. Ryan fired a successful plasma blast into a Hunter's support tank behind the shield. The massive creature fell in a few more seconds. His rifle overheated and he grabbed a MA5B and fired burst, spun and sprinted. Stocks and Borne cut down seven Grunts with their ARs. Shifty made his move and tore the helmet off a Jackal. Patterson fired and cut down an Elite. Ryan grabbed Shifty from behind, towing him into a bunker. One Warthog followed by a buddy, sped in, their 50mm guns blazing.
'Fasamee had ripped a replacement tank off a dead commando, and his seven remaining Elites concentrated their fire, mimicking the humans. Two more of the vermin fell. Dante pried a plasma rifle out of dead fingers and fired. More of the sniper rounds penetrated the lower class blue and red armored Elites. 'Fasamee sighted a human battle cruiser begin taking off. 'Fasamee called in the infiltration squadrons.
Captain Jacob Ellis stood over the control board and HUD displays. "Lieutenant Goshen, arm all heavy MAG guns, begin charging MAC cannons." Ellis ordered. "Aye sir!" Goshen replied. "Ensign Franks, give me 45% on bow thrusters, 25% on port." Jacob barked. "Aye, aye sir!" He said. The Samurai broke from the dock.
Little did Jacob Ellis know...covenant infiltration teams were already inside. Twenty-seven cloaked Elites were plotting the humans' downfall. Unfortunately, the human ship had departed without notice, and its cotangent of marines was a mere 65, 17 in engineering and the rest scattered throughout the ship.

Shell Shock-chapter 3 Captain Ellis' Mission clock: 0430 T-418 combat outpost
Jacob Ellis had no idea every last marine in Engineering was dead. The commando Elites were already there, their A.I. construct disabling commands. "Ensign, why aren't we moving?" Ellis barked. "Sir, communications to Engineering is down!" Lieutenant Wolfgang called. The Elites had already killed the crew that had attempted to check the engine room.
'Mornazee, the commando Elite leading the assault, fired a quick blast from the plasma rifle into the wounded marine's head. The Elite chuckled to himself and handed one more charge to the Elite near him. "Field Master 'Fasamee to 'Mornazee, hurry up in there, the humans are advancing, my assault squad is all but dead. Detonate that ship, now!" Mornazee knew Fasamee would sacrifice himself for the sake of the mission, he knew that when bullets echoed in the transmission. Then the unexpected happened. A large squad of marines burst into the room firing assault weapons. Two of his kin were hit and fell from the overhang 50 plus feet above the floor. Mornazee held up his rifle and fired, only wounding one trooper. "Nooooo!" he screamed. Unfortunately for him that drew attention to himself. One of the humans grinned smugly and fired a burst to his stomach. The Elite felt the wind being pushed out of him. He was still standing though, his silver armor revealing three pocks from the 7.62mm rounds. The human fired again and yet another of his brethren fell. 'Mornazee's claws gripped the detonator tightly, holding it high in the air; his plasma rifle flared killing two humans. The Elite clenched the device harder, threatening death to all aboard the Samurai. Four humans focused their fire on the alien, 'Mornazee felt the slugs tear through him, and death followed. Una 'Kamazee saw his leader fall under a sheet of human projectiles. One of his Elites took a blast to the chest which forced him off the drop. The alien screamed as his body shattered hitting the floor. 'Kamazee fired against a door control panel and forced it open. A narrow corridor laid ahead, three marines popped through the opposite door. 'Kamazee's rifle read 13% and it was overloading violently, just as death was centimeters away, a plasma grenade slaughtered the fire team. 'Kamazee sighed and ran past their bodies, picking up his master's detonator. Bullets sprayed across the deck as the Elite and three of his kin blew through a door, killed two crewmen and entered a direct lift to the launch bays. Staff Sergeant Danny Heath fired upon the covenant en masse; these fools weren't advancing but clearly waiting for something. Two dropships full of marines had landed minutes ago, now a full fledged battle lay underway. Four Elites emerged from a service corridor far below. Danny called in, "Kill them, kill them! They're the ones that the dropships are waiting for, FIRE!"
Two Elites to the right of Una dropped headless, the last one; 'Tobasee, was cut down by a combined effort from two marine Sergeants. 'Kamazee felt a few rounds punch him in the back, his shields died and he fell to the ground. Una saw the dropships rising up, he tried to scream but his communications links were dead. His right arm was blown off from the elbow down, with the detonator just out of reach. "All fire team sergeants, spare as many men as you can and get to the ground battle." The ship's A.I. said. Four pelican crafts swooped down and Danny led his squad in. The ship elevated and jetted down towards T-418.
'Kamazee felt a growing sense of victory as his left hand reached the detonator. He had completed his mission and would be welcomed into paradise. His claw clamped the arming trigger and felt a large rumble as he and everyone else aboard was engulfed in a gigantic explosion.
Danny felt a strong jolt as the Samurai close behind threw the troopship down forcefully. Tyrell fired another burst from his assault rifle and looked up in horror to see the human ship explode. Unfortunately the ship was still intact and crashed into the south dock. Again Ty looked up; his eyes widened and leapt out of the way. The UNSC dropship plummeted into an entire assault team of covenant. Three marines followed by seven more bailed out firing. Danny adjusted his HUD to his liking and followed close behind Sergeant Fitzgerald. "Sir, west side is secure!" a marine called. A strange twist felled all of the marines to their feet. "What the heck was that?" Borne called. "Don't know, let's get in side, move it!" Davidson ordered. Inside the station was complete chaos, covenant assault teams were scattered thin and the marines had no trouble with them. The problem was three quarters of the south bay was gone. Danny Heath led his squad into a corridor after passing a locked door. The Sergeant walked cautiously along the way. A strange blue blinking was etched into the dark corridor. Private O'Neil headed towards it as the flickering grew faster... closer he came until a long beep echoed. The marine took one more step and trigger the proximity. Danny watched in terror as O'Neil and the four marines in front of him were engulfed and the blue-white explosion, the blast sucked him in and the men behind him. "Holy Crap!!!" Scott yelled as the charred remains of Sergeant Heath's squad lay stationary. "All crew and soldiers, evacuate immediately. The station won't hold." Someone said over the comm. "Come on we gotta move now!" Fitzgerald ordered. The marines were forced to fight the long battles outside as well. Assault rifles barked and chattered while marines attempted to push the menace back. Fitzgerald clenched the trigger, Elites and a few Grunts falling before his hail of bullets. A heavy gun opened up behind him. Scott had his SAW gun out and was mowing the covenant down like bad weeds. Pelican troopships swooped in, their 70mm guns transforming the aliens into paste. "Move it marines!" a company Sergeant barked. The leathernecks began filling the pelicans to the brim...marines and crewmen alike. Plasma whirred through the air and hit a marine in the throat. Pelicans roared away from the station. Marines began dying in larger numbers. Barnes was back in action and firing his shotgun. "There's our dropship, hustle marines!" Davidson yelled over the team freq. The marines slid in next to the remainder of Jeremy Ryan's squad: Shifty and Stocks. Finally Tyrell took his seat, "Floor it!" Shifty yelled to the cockpit.
Dante 'Fasamee found a promising target in a navy crewman. He pushed on the studs and the man dropped. Kayup, a cowardly Grunt clung to his leg. 'Fasamee pried him off and was tempted to stick a grenade to his head and let him run for the humans... so he did. "No-o-o, nooooo! He yelled but Dante had already pitched him into a collection of marines. 'Fasamee smiled victoriously when he heard the explosion. Two scarlet armored Elites set the survivors to the grave. A Banshee lay with its pilot standing guard, 'Fasamee adjusted his camouflage setting and climbed aboard. Minutes later the station was engulfed in licking flames.
Tyrell and the other marines aboard were jolted and rattled severely and all lost sight of what was ahead of them...

Shell Shock - Chapter 4
Tyrell Fitzgerald found himself in a strange area...fellow marines rushed by, not in combat armor, but in training uniforms and standard gear with MA5B assault rifles. "Fitzgerald, move it trainee!" a drill sergeant barked. The marine ran through a thick area of heavy mud that appeared to suck him down further each step. He pulled his boots free and ran forward. A hail of stun rounds thundered over the trench he and another trainee crouched in. One man rushed for cover and was hit and hauled off the field. Tyrell popped up firing his weapon three guns went down. He sprinted forward to a 100 foot wall. He grabbed a hold and climbed the vertical expanse. Stun turrets opened up and several opened up on him. They had the impact of a paintball, but it was enough to fell him and fall fifty feet below...
Tyrell woke frantically screaming. Two doctors looked down in astonishment. "He's awake...sir he's awake!" One yelled. Fitzgerald got the message that the whole training image was a dream. Davidson appeared in his line of sight, a large black-purple bruise covered his left eye, and a skinny slash was etched onto his forehead with his short buzzed black hair just above that. Conner rewarded him with a warm smile. Tyrell could see various members of his squad in the large infirmary. Shifty lay in bed cursing about his broken arm, Stocks sat at a table with Brant and Borne, all sipping cups of coffee, Jeremy Ryan and Davidson were checking on everyone else, Barnes was alive but still unconscious, and Jones was, well Jones. Tyrell pulled himself out of the bed and grabbed a mug, filling it with the dark brown coffee drink. Ryan, Davidson, Fitzgerald and Jones joined at the table with the others and Stocks unleashed a deck of cards, dealing to everyone...starting "seven card stud." After a full forty-five minutes of playing, the marines eagerly made their way to the cafeteria. The civilian clock mounted on the wall read 2:47 in the morning. The men began slipping into their bunks and falling asleep. It felt good to really sleep again. Tyrell thought to himself. The next morning the marines were sent to briefing. The Brass conveniently had an office near where they had crashed...Hawaii. Their ship had somehow broken free of the outpost and slipped down to the surface. Both of the dropship's pilots were dead, probably because they crashed in the water. Hawaii had almost become Earth's headquarters considering that the Covenant had not even bothered to scan the area thoroughly enough to even locate the tiny island ring. Tyrell eagerly escaped after a long ninety minutes with the Brass. Fitzgerald walked outside in the cold morning breeze, Tyrell ambled down to the beach and walked the area. An hour later the troopers were hitting the armories and depots.
Dante 'Fasamee dove through a human city, dodging in and out between the high spires and skyscrapers. The Banshee wobbled and was in danger of crashing when he found his designated landing platform. The attack craft landed and the Elite bailed from the cockpit. Seconds later the fighter exploded, vaporizing five Grunts. "Get that craft off the platform!" Field Officer 'Ganamee ordered to several blue Elites. "I'm starving," one Brute was saying, "We've had nothing to eat but old maggoty bread for three stinking days!" The orc-like alien drew his machete and raised it, bellowing a battle cry. Other Brutes joined and they began cutting up and killing Grunts for food. It was amusing to watch until one Grunt drew his needler and killed a Brute. War broke out on the platform with the Elites cutting down which ever crossed their path, the Brutes mutilating Grunts and Jackals and then one Hunter went down, really pissing off three others. Four Elites were blasted off the platform and a Brute was transformed into paste. 'Fasamee knew why these Brutes were so battle-hungry. The small human detachment had been annihilated with leaving the covenant on the brink of blood thirst for even their fellow comrades. 'Ganamee stood with two other golden Elites in the center of the platform, all of which activated plasma lances and cut down seven Jackals and two Brutes. The three Elites cut their way to the door and the surviving four Elites followed and then the door to the platform was sealed. 'Fasamee wouldn't miss coming back later to see what happened, but for now the seven Elites would head to the prophet's counsel room aboard the Glory's Strength. 'Fasamee found that he was needed else where. Dante was in great want of his dress uniform armor. His combat armor was punctured in various places, where the sharp shards of the hanging armor stabbed into his skin. All of these breaches were courtesy of the thousands of human projectiles that had killed so many of his men. He found his quarters and requested his dress armor. Minutes later a rookie blue Elite opened the door, knelt and offered up the golden suit. "Much thanks 'Ralosee." The Elite replied with a simple: "You're welcome Excellency." The Elite turned, took in what had been a combat alarm, drew his plasma pistol and ran towards a wall mounted armory. Fasamee knew the Brutes were at it again. The Grunts were wise enough to side with the Elites and for now, the Jackals were on their own.
Tyrell stood in full combat armor, which included a visor over his face...basically the same as the ODST armor, all black fatigues with an assault rifle cradled in his arms. A huge hanger gathered twenty eight company sergeants with nine platoon lieutenants. Sergeants: Klein, Ryan, Fitzgerald, Barkley, Anderson, Burnside, Reinhart, Boblit, McGinnis and twenty more. The Lieutenants included: Greyer, Davidson, and Blackwell with six others. The combat marines filed into the hybrid class warhorse troopships. They appeared much sleeker than both covenant and human ships, armed with four rocket pods with dual 70mm chin guns, also wielding a larger troop bay of sixteen. The jet black ships loaded up and ascended out of the hanger. Tyrell had been assigned a new team which only contained Borne from his other squad. Private Beckman manned the door gun and the rest of his squad sat eight across one side of the warhorse with Sergeant Klein's squad on the other. He peered down towards the cockpit inspecting his squad which contained: Private Beckman, Private Reline, Private Borne, Corporal Salazar, Lance Corporal Miller, Private Jameson, Corporal Richards, and Private Brooks. This was a great squad; it finally was time to stage an all out assault on the Covenant.
'Ralosee snatched up a standard plasma rifle and ran for the docking bay. The Brutes were out of hand. Ninety percent of the Grunts lay on the landing platforms and docking bays, dead. The Elites were the antidote for this rebellion, but numbers belonged to the Brutes. "Kill them all!" a Brute down the hallway shouted, killing a trio of Jackals. Ralosee was not affected by the loss, but still his plasma rifle flared and knocked down the Brutes. The Elite rushed past the bodies, through yet another Grunt gore splattered corridor and finally to the bays. He regretted to answer the call...a mere eight of his kin were battering down a platoon of Brutes. Ralosee luckily made the difference in the battle; four Brutes remained when they drew mini fuel rod guns and massacred the eight Elite atop the opposite side of the bay. 'Ralosee spent too much precious time and received a machete swipe to the base of the skull. All went dark and his life left him. 'Fasamee slipped into his armor, grabbing two plasma rifles on his departure. The Elite stepped inside his Seraph personal fighter and did a quick fly over of the city. The main base was a giant battle between the Brutes and the Elites. It wasn't a big deal seeing that the humans would attack sooner than later...and unfortunately to Fasamee, they did.

Shell Shock -Chapter 5 Canada Protectorate
Rather than an attack, it was more of an assist. The Warhorse pelicans landed, unloading four hundred and four marines. Bailing out, the marines were exposed to a gigantic civil war between the Brutes and the Elites. The first squad out, lead by Sergeant McGrath, was amazed by how the medieval looking battle took place. The Brutes were literally dueling against the plasma sword wielding Elites. Two more of the hybrid troopships touched down and assault weapons began tearing into the combatants. The last of the pelicans landed, unloaded, and ascended while the marines were left at the outskirts of the city. Zeta Base lay three miles out. The marines had accumulated 23 warthogs, 14 ATVs, and 8 Scorpions. Fitzgerald ran to the nearest Warthog, taking the passenger seat next to a corporal in the driver seat. A PFC took the gunner position. The Warthogs and ATVs took point while the MBTs stuck with the infantry.
Dante 'Fasamee led a fighter squadron of Seraph fighters against the last squad of rebel Brutes. The attack crafts easily dispatched the last of them and the rebellion had ended. This was the good news...'Fasamee noticed now that the humans had landed four hundred troops on the outskirts of the city. Luckily for the Covenant, an army of loyal Brutes were stationed nearby along with easily one hundred Elites. The Human's base would be even more protected than the last assault also.
The marines division arrived at the base with huge amounts of ammunition and weaponry. Zeta base was well positioned. Snipers were stationed in the guard towers and 30mm gun emplacements lined the outer wall. Minutes later battle rifle and assault sporting marines manned the circling wall. Four towers lay along the front, eight snipers in each. Mobile Shades (the standard gun turret with moving supports) along with Reaper five barreled turrets that fired heavy fuel rod caliber blasts. Light armor support began skidding in which included Ghosts, Shadows, and Vipers. The Viper was a small vehicle similar to a Ghost save that you lay on your back just at a slant, with the bow curving into a sleek attack craft. Then the heavy engines came. Four Wraith tanks with an army of Elites and Brutes. Fitzgerald and two other company sergeants and their squads were assigned to the city gate. Sweat rolled down his spine as Covenant readied for the first shots to be fired...every one of the 32 snipers selected heads and waited for the magic word. "FIRE!" Captain Johnson ordered as sniper blasts tore into the frontlines of troops. The entire wall lit up with weapons fire. Concentrated blasts tore a Ghost down. A platoon of Covenant led by a silver Elite charged into the fray with two Banshees watching their six. 30mm guns blazed providing large holes in the covenant infantry. Ladders and grappling lines spun up against wall. Brutes made it on, chopping down marine after marine with duel machetes. Two men took him down but a black clad Elite bearing a plasma sword sliced them down. "Wraiths!" a noncom screamed. Energy orbs sailed through the air. One hit directly in the middle of the wall...sending fourteen marines to the grave. Grappling lines hooked up, Elites and Brutes jumping from them. Snipers were overwhelmed being that even Jones couldn't get a clear shot at the aliens on the walls. Someone right above the entrance yelled: "Brace that door!" Tyrell threw himself against it and pushed. Three squads of marines took his back. "PUSH!" Sergeant McGinnis ordered. Seven PFCs fired over the wall at the Wraith that was pounding at the gate. It didn't help because two Banshees easily melted them down. The covies were busy outside setting satchel charges along the door. "Don't let 'em through!" The Wraith tank backed off for a second and marines pushed back on the door. Tyrell felt a small rumble and then he heard a bang with the screaming of some marines. Every leatherneck on top of the doors was thrown to high heaven while you were lucky to have your whole body if you were at the gate. "AHHH!" was screamed by everyone around Fitzgerald when he felt something stronger than hurricane winds hurl him backwards. Tyrell could still see when the Covenant flowed in like a flood of evil. An Elite's boot appeared over his face and all went black. Firing squads popped out of hatches and doors as the covenant advanced, killing at will. 78% of the marines on the wall were dead, with only two sniper towers remaining. Flashes of plasma swords and machetes captured by marines glinted in the midnight air. "Fall back! Fall back!" Marines were being cut down repeatedly and dying trying to retreat. Davidson was one of the few alive on the wall. "Cover, cover fire!" he ordered and blast down a Brute with his shotgun. "Go, go, go!" Davidson ordered to three marines holding back a mob of Brutes on the left side. "Catch this amigo!" Diaz yelled as he hurled a fragmentation grenade. A plasma grenade attached to a privates chest, he took one last look at everyone around him and sprinted into a squad of Brutes. A Brute went for a retreating marine and a sword Elite wanted the kill so he cut down the Brute but the young PFC gave him a belly full of lead and a puddle of his own blood to drown in. The marine was left wandering how long the human's could keep this up. 89% now gone. Banshees flew in just then. "Get out of there now!" a marine on the other side of the bridge yelled to the seventeen marines still on the wall. The troopers ran across the bridge with two snipers on the opposite side attempting to give covering fire. Yet the mob was too great. 30mm guns on the other side pushed them back. Davidson slid into a dead marine's blood and retrieved his radio. "Tact HQ this is Lieutenant Davidson requesting Skyhawk fighter assistance on the double!" Conner yelled into the boom mike. Bullets and plasma sailed though the air, the marine next to Davidson was hit square in the chest. The man had a desperate look on his face, amazed and scared at the same time, blood flowed from his open mouth, the plasma melting further into his torso. Conner cursed under his breath and blasted an Elite in two. F43 light rockets smashed into the bridge, leaving it intact, yet setting the impact points ablaze. Davidson unleashed his two combat knives, beheading a Brute that had survived the salvo of Skyhawk missiles. He swung another blow with its twin behind it against a Brutes head. The armor clanked and stressed as the knives beat against it and broke in releasing a flood of black blood upon the noncom's forearms. Two Vipers appeared below the bridge. "No, gosh dang it!" Davidson yelled as he realized the main blast doors had been breached. "Seal those entrances!" was heard from a nearby sergeant. A small plaza lay before a set of blast resistant doors. The marines attempted to hold the bridge but more and more covenant kept coming. Plasma scored the walls and floors, marines fought like caged animals while the Covenant began to favor the close combat. This battle was transforming into a massacre.

Shell Shock-chapter 6
The marines were pushed back and pushed forward, but the enemy had vehicles and endless infantry inside the base they never really had a chance. _______________________________________________________________________
Tyrell opened his eyes to see piles of corpses and weapons in stacks off to the side of the door entrance. Two Elites guarded the door, plasma lances glowing. Fitzgerald pulled himself to his knees and made a grab for a stray assault rifle. He recovered the MA5B and clenched the trigger, showering the alien's shields to flare. Both turned, one was not allowed to keep his head. The fountain of purple blood spayed upward, staining the floor with bone and bits of brain. The Master Sergeant fired again tearing three holes in the chest plate and puncturing the Elite's skin. The body went limp and crumbled to the ground. Tyrell found his helmet lying near were he awoke. He looked around, seeing that the area was clear, ducked into a wall mounted armory station and activated his battle recording. Satchel charges had killed 97% of the marines holding the gate, forcing it open, letting covenant flow inside. Tyrell deactivated it when the sound of whining plasma and rattle of assault weapons engaged around the other corner. Corporal Salazar and Private Reline were crouched behind a fallen wall mounted computer, firing against a wave of Brutes. Fitzgerald instinctively fired a long burst into the nearest Brute and bashed the next with the butt of his rifle. "Sarge? That you sir?" Reline asked. "You got it Private, where's the rest of the squad?" Fitzgerald replied. "Truthfully sir, I really don't know, they're scattered thin along with the surviving marines. "Then let's move." Tyrell ordered. Gunnery Sergeant Reinhart led his squad up a staircase to the wall. The marines needed the bridge that led further into the base. Master Sergeant Klein took the other side. Klein would take point and try to secure the area around the bridge long enough for the snipers to realize what was going on. The entire wall was littered with bodies and was now under Covenant control. Reinhart peered over the edge to see Klein's squad pop from the opposite side. The comprised blasts of shotguns and assault rifles riddled every unsuspecting Brute near the bridge. Sniper rounds tore into the gold clad Elite behind Klein. The gunny jumped from his cover and struck down two Brutes. Two Vipers appeared in the causeway below the bridge...melting down two of Reinhart's men. Private Francis shouldered the M19 SSM launcher and sent a 102mm load of death into the Vipers. Private Finn suddenly fell off the bridge dead. "That would be our time to shine boys!" Reinhart yelled. Tyrell had assembled a small team of stray marines that were either the last survivors or separated from their teams. Announcements over the loudspeakers bellowed to the marines throughout the base: "All marine teams get to the pelicans, ASAP, we're abandoning the base. Tyrell didn't argue with that, seeing a battered, but suitable pelican dropship for his team. Lieutenant Conner Davidson shoved the muzzle of his shotgun into an armless Brute's stomach. The animal looked up into his eyes and then suddenly clouded as the shotgun buckled. Conner's breathing sounded like a freight train, and everything else seemed muted, ever since the artillery slashed only feet from him. His hearing slowly began to return with the sounds of gunfire and the whine of plasma rushed and flowing into it. He heard Diaz' voice yelling to him about something, when he felt a punch in his back. Davidson crumbled to the ground, his cheek touching the cold cement. Soldiers rushed by him and then felt one pick him up. He heard the clank of metal as the marine sat him in a dropship's seat. Fitzgerald was that marine, Tyrell looked down at where he had made the final ran were easily a score of corpses wearing marine green lay, after looking down, Tyrell saw a mere five pelicans made it out, the sixth was overwhelmed before take off. The Master Sergeant noticed Jones, Brant, and even Scott was in this dropship, where the others were he did not know. In his miserable void of thought sleep engulfed him and Tyrell slipped out of consciousness.
Collin Borne however wasn't on the five dropships; he was one out of maybe two or three still alive left behind marines. He could make out Flight Lieutenant Jarred Caldwell taking off heads with his M9D pistol. Collin helped out with half a clip with his assault weapon and finished the aliens with a melee attack. Jarred gave him a nod and led him past a slaughter of marines. A Skyhawk fighter rested in the last hanger, Collin jumped in the second seat with Caldwell taking pilot. The fighter elevated and jetted outward from the hanger and was free of the base. Tyrell Fitzgerald awoke as the pelican touched down. The dropship had traveled miles and miles further than it should have, and finally rested upon the aircraft carrier, Nevada. The sea was rough and anxious, all the way to Japan. Japan was a Covenant controlled island, containing who know how many there were. Staff Sergeant Walker jumped down into the tiny patrol boat, three other men hopped in including: Private Davis, Private Jenson, and Corporal Jones. Jones was the S2 bearer on this run; Walker held his M90 close while Davis carried a MA5B along with Jenson. None of them wore combat armor, just fatigues and essential gear. Jones brought his rifle around to see a large ripple in the water; he reluctantly turned and accessed his 2x scope. It was around midnight and it was raining hard, jungle surrounded the river the team sailed down. The edges of the river was covered with a mob of tall trees, then Samuel Jones saw two green clad Elites pop out and brought their sniper rifles to bear. Sam remained calm and took off both of their heads. "More over here!" Jenson warned as he fired a burst into the first Jackal's head. Jones fired several shots in quick succession and reloaded. After passing a marine body washed unto the shore, Davis saw the ripple in the water again. He leaned over the edge of the boat and felt a clamp on his wrist. The marine howled in pain and tried to his hand free, the water were his wrist was, turned red. Giant jaws opened up over his head and crunched down onto his shoulder area, then the creature pulled Davis' lifeless body under the murky water. Jenson's face turned to horror as Davis' legs flailed in the air and the alligator pulled him under. Cory Jenson emptied his clip into the water after the creature but with no avail. Jones and Walker looked completely undisturbed. Cory knew they had been in the corps for a few years, but still, seeing a man ripped in two and pulled underwater bleeding all the way, greatly frightened. Jenson shook it off and readied his rifle, searching the jungle terrain. Finally their boat arrived at the rally point. A fire team of marines from another patrol boat stood on shore, waiting for them. Jenson slapped in a fresh clip for his rifle and left the boat stained with Davis' blood. 2nd squad moved in quietly searching and looking for Covenant. Sam held his rifle at his shoulder, then suddenly a lance of plasma seared through the marine in front of him, the man's fingers clenched the trigger of the MA5B rifle, sending stray slugs everywhere. "Bobby's hit, get down!" someone screamed. Two marines knelt and fired upon the enemy...both went down from a stationary gun cut through them. Jones killed two Brutes, then caught sight of Jenson in hand to hand combat with an Elite, Jones swung his rifle to bear and fired... Cory's face went blank as he felt the Elite's brains and blood shower across his face and upper fatigues. "Holy crap!" he said aloud. Cory turned and stabbed the Brute behind him with his bayonet. Jenson felt the adrenaline start to leave his body from a harsh whack to the back of his head and all went black...
