Rogue Beast (Prologue)

Rouge Beast: Prologue
Location: Unknown Solar System Year: 2552
"Prophet, the specimen has arrived" Came a Grunt over the comm. Prophet Izahea had been sitting in her chamber aboard her own Cruiser, going over the details of this new species they'd discovered. It would make a wonderful addition to their Covenant.
"Affirmative. I'll be out shortly." She said, closing the view screen. Her hover chair blew dust from the old purple steel floor. The ship hadn't been used in years, after the new model was created. But Izahea was quite picky about her vessels, and she'd grown a kinship to this one. The doors opened from her chamber, onto the loading docks. A Drop ship had just entered, with a steel cage within its blue plasma stream. Izahea smiled, knowing the treasure that it held.
"Docking complete, discharging plasma field." Came the Pilot. The steel cage hit the ground with a thud, rocking back and forth, as the creature inside tried to escape.
"No need to waste your energy..." Izahea said under her breath as she rose from her chair, carrying a very old walking stick. As she approached the cargo, it began to move even quicker, the low rumble and growl heard easily now. As she was within a few feet, a mechanical grind came from it, as the sealed cage, turned to thick metal bars, allowing the creature to be witnessed by all. It was glorious. The thick brown fur and large red eyes scared even the nearby Elites, each readily equipping themselves with rifles. The Prophet was even more in awe, putting her beak closer to the cage. The deck was silent, as was the animal. "What is it called?" She asked. "A Brute, ma'am."
She looked closer at its hands, scratching her feeble head. "How will it fight, these hands can't hold any of our modern weapons?" An Elite stepped forward, carrying a case that opened up to reveal a new weapon. "He will use this. It's a Plasma Rocket. It carries the load of an overcharged Plasma Pistol, but much stronger." He said, licking his white teeth with delight. "Its melee attack is something to behold, even to our Hunters." He said. All of the Covenant stepped back, as the cage opened. The Brute began to charge the Elite, but a force field was put in place right on time. "What was that?" Izahea asked. "Just to show you its power." He said.
A door across the hall opened, with two Elites, carrying a Human Marine by the arms. The Marine looked unconscious, but the Elites injected him with a stimulant, sending him on a rampage. "NO! Let me go! Let me leave!!" He screamed. The Elites hit him across the face, and threw him into the force-fielded area, along with the Brute. Its red eyes gazed at the already frightened Marine. It breathed heavily, making its hands into fists, getting ready to strike. He charged suddenly, lifting his hands over his head. Just before he got to the marine, her stopped, and threw down his fists, breaking open the Marines skull.
Everyone was shocked, but pleased. "Excellent! They will make a fine inclusion to the Covenant. But, how do we train them?" An Elite asked. Izahea smiled, "The same way we trained the Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters. We'll warp their minds into our way of life. They will become Covenant. And the Humans, will have no chance.
Location: Brute Home World Year: 2553
The bitter cold landscape was ablaze will yells of Elites, and the cracking of whips upon the enslaved Brutes. Camps were placed all across the continents where they once lived freely. No longer did they fish in fresh rivers, or nurture their young. Now their only job was to the Covenant. An evil organization, bent on conquest. Roe, a middle aged female Brute, was lined up with countless others, each receiving their ration meal for the day. Their launch date was only a month away, where they would be taken from this Planet, and put aboard Covenant Battle Ships. This was all foreign to their species. The only knew of here, only of fire and water. Their weapons where spears and fists, and the only way to conquest were a one on one battle of the males. None of this made sense. Roe looked around at the Brutes next to her, each seemed drained, unwilling to fight any longer. They had each been brain washed into the Covenant ways, but she wasn't. She wasn't about to give up her mind to a group of twisted, and evil people. "Hey," Roe said in a low voice, "...we've gotta find a way out of here. I can't stand this torture." She said.
The Brute next to her turned, "What are you saying? We were created for this cause. The Humans have destroyed countless planets of Covenant, all in the name of Humanity. Why would we leave?" He said.
It was clear there was no hope to try and stop the brainwashing. The cold chains across her furry legs stung when the wind blew through the tent. She didn't want to become a prisoner, and she had to find a way out...

Rogue Beast Part 1
Location: Mines of Brute Home world Year: 2553
"MOVE!" Came the Elite guard, holding his whip tightly, as he lashed all the Brutes into the dark, cold mines. Roe was among them, cold and bitter, growling under her breath as she passed a group of Grunts, each ready with pistols. They had been doing this same routine since the Covenant landed upon their world. These caves used to not be here, but they were made by the sweat and blood of the first Brutes to become enslaved. There were no riches within the cavern, only an excuse to create agony.
"Prophet Izahea, these new Brutes aren't working very fast. They are very cold and hungry. Orders?" Came Jurik, a tough Elite soldier, emblazed with white armor.
A Prophet, embalmed with winter cloths, sat atop her purple hover seat, watching below as the Brutes began to dig deeper and deeper, while sipping a glass of liquid. She turned to the Elite, her eyes steady upon him, "Kill them if they do not work. We can't have slackers in our Covenant." She said.
Roe was aimlessly wielding her sharp axe, cutting through the tough rock, as a white Elite walked by slowly, glaring at each of them, looking for a weak Brute. "You there!" He said, with his voice echoing through the cavern. A few Grunts grabbed the skinny, worn out Brute, to which Roe did not know. The pistol was put up to its head, and was fired, sending the brute to the ground, with a low rumble. "THIS is what happens when you do not WORK!" The Elite said pointing to the body. Each of the Brutes shuddered, not by the cold wind of the outside, but of fear. They all turned back to their boring, black wall, as the chugged away upon the rock. Roe looked up into a high peak of the cave, seeing the shadow of the Prophet, who's eyes turned and stared at Roe, only for a moment. Her heart sunk as she began digging faster and faster, not willing to die.
Location: Covenant Battle Ship over Brute Planet Year: 2553
"Prophet Izahea, the next fleet of Drop ships has arrived to pick up the next Brute colony. Shall I permit them to land?"
The Prophet lay in her room, reading over schematics and statistics, obviously bored out of her mind. She had become weaker by the day, growing older and older. With a frail voice, "Yes, but tell them to be careful as always. These Brutes still have some fight in them."
"Yes ma'am."
Location: Brute Home World Launch Site Year: 2553
Roe had lost all of her strength at this point, with no reason or energy to fight what was happening. Across a field of black asphalt, dozens of Drop Ships lay, as groups of 8 Brutes began to be loaded up. The sound was deafening, as the engine noise got closer to Roe, her hungry, depressed body limping towards the ship. As she looked up, the Elites were whipping them once more. All of the Brutes had one or two marks on them already, and luckily, Roe managed to stay out of trouble. During the days they were in the cave, dozens of Brutes died from not working hard enough. Ditches with the stench of death were made at the bottom. It was a horrific site.
"MOVE IT UP!!" Came the Elite, as a heavy, wet whip came down upon her back. She fell to the ground with a thud, which caused most of the Brutes to turn towards her, knowing her fate. A Grunt came up over her body and lifted her head, preparing to fire.
"No don't! Please! Help me!" She yelled towards the bruised fellow Brutes. They did nothing but watch with fearful eyes, wanting to help. One of them began to roar in the traditional way, beating his chests with his fists. The Grunt was surprised, and screamed as he charged him.
"GAH!" He said, fumbling the pistol in his hand.
The Brute slammed into him, killing him with the force of his muscle. The other 6 joined in, helping Roe up and dust off. "Thank you." She said in a pant.
"Don't thank me, it is you who brought the courage within me." He replied in a deep voice.
Without another word, Roe began to run away, towards the White Mountains where she was born. As she turned her head back, the 7 other Brutes where beginning to free the rest, taking up arms against the Covenant.
"Bless them..." She said in her run.
Location: Prophet Izahea vessel (Orbiting Brute World) Year: 2553
"What's happening down there!?" Izahea screamed as loud as she could, looking up towards her personal monitor. A bruised Elite was sitting inside a Wraith, trying to fend off the Brutes. "I don't know ma'am. They just started rioting, as if it was planned. The Brutes killed the entire regiment of guards. I can't even fight them off with this!" He replied.
The screen began to fail, as low thuds were heard outside the cockpit, as Brutes slammed the purple metal with their fists. The screen went out, followed by the long, seemingly un ending scream of an Elite.
"General!" Izahea said, as an eight-foot tall elite, covered in full body armor walked up to her. "Take your entire squadron, and kill every last Brute. I should have never allowed them to live..."

Rogue Beast Part 2
Location: Troop Deployment Bay (Izahea Vessel) Year: 2553
"Men, I have ordered you all from your post because of a dire circumstance. The Brute species we had encountered has gone rogue, allying with the Humans, they have killed countless Covenant, for seemingly no reason. Prophet Izahea has ordered us to wipe them out!" The eight-foot tall Elite said, standing upon a podium, surrounded by thousands of Grunts, Jackals, Elites and Hunters. They were the attack force that would destroy the Brutes.
"Deployment time and locations have been sent to you all, so you all know what to do! Now MOVE!" He roared.
The Prophet had been sitting behind him, nodding her head in approval. "Very nice my friend. It seems they believe whatever we say. The competent fools..." "Thank you your majesty, we will launch before the day is out." He replied.
Location: Unknown (Brute Home World) Year: 2553
Roe had been running after the attack for what seemed like days. Her paws were numb, and there was no food in sight. Only the empty caves, which ironically they made, gave her warmth. She was alone in the vast cold mountains, unknowing of her surroundings.
"Why did I leave?" She asked herself one day while sitting in a cave. She was digging in the soil, her hands dry and bruised, looking for roots or grass. Her eyes were red, un-wanting to sleep, and not willing to stay open. Her stomach was dry and eating away. She could feel her bones beginning to break under the stress. She began to look around the cave, finding the typical black rock, but there was something else. In a corner, a dim green light caught her weary eyes. As she stepped closer, it turned out to be a pistol, with the plasma still bright and warm. Then the thought came.
"Should I?" She said, as the thought of suicide came over her. She had all the right reasons to, but something held her back. It was a feeling of hope, as if help was on the way. She looked out towards the opening of the cave, finding nothing but whiteness. Lifting her paw, she grabbed the pistol, and placed it towards her head. A shot was fired...
Her hand was warm, and stung greatly. She looked around finally, realizing she was still in the cave. The pistol lay on the ground, smoking.
The cave opening darkened, as the shadows of three creatures walked in. She wasn't sure who they were, but they didn't seem provoking.
"What were you thinking?!" A deep voice came from the darkness. "Who... who's there?" She said in her frail voice.
They came out of the darkness. The first thing she had seen was the glistening armor, which endowed his shoulders, purple-grayish in color. The body armor was of most interest, lined with grenades, and in the center, two blue circles. The rest of the body, except for the ends of limbs, was covered in a gray flexible metal. In their left hand, a weapon, that seemed to fit them perfectly.
"It would appear that you are Roe. We thank you." He said. It was a Brute, remarkably strong, and apparently well fed. "It is you who started the uprising. We have been looking for you for quite some time. Give me your paw." He said, reaching out.
Roe felt quite embarrassed, and at the same time, quite shocked. As they left the cave, the reality set in quite well. Dozens of flying purple vehicles, tanks, and hovering cars covered the landscape, while hundreds more Brute Troops were all in a line, each well fed and ready. "See what you have done for us? You've saved our race." He said, looking out at the magnificent scene.
"We had freed all of the Brutes, and raided the many drop ships of our armor, and of their technology. They have killed themselves!" He said egotistically.
Roe thought, and looked up at the proud male. "What do you mean? I thought everyone had been... brainwashed?" She asked. He turned to her, and pulled a small device from his pouch. As it opened up, hundreds of pages of data were released, describing the real truth behind the Covenant. They went over it together, and Roe became even angrier. "How could they do this to all these people. They mentally kill thousands, while killing these "Humans" for some stupid religious reason. The fools..." She thought out loud.
He nodded, "Yes. But I'm afraid we must be going. There is quite a lot of ground to cover. We must keep searching for the Covenant bases, and wipe them out." He said, getting into a "Ghost". As he rode off, one of the Banshees had dropped off her armor, food and water. Her own special Ghost was waiting for her.
Location: Izahea Vessel (Logistics Center) Year: 2553
"It appears they're heading towards Base 56-C. That is where we will meet them. I want snipers placed in all the buildings, and the rest of the Infantry to spread out the center. Artillery and scouts will be behind to create cover fire." The eight-foot tall Elite said, pointing to a map.
"General, what is your troop deployment status?" Prophet Izahea asked from a dark corner, her red eyes becoming dimmer by the minute. "Everyone is down there, we're deploying them now." He replied, throwing a fist toward his armor in salute.
"Excell..." She began, but began to cough un-controllably. "I apologize. My heath is not what it used to be. These Brutes are creating quite a burden."
"Don't worry Prophet, they will be gone before you know it." He replied, bowing to her.
Location: Mountains (Brute Home world) Year: 2554
The New Year had arrived as they were marching steadily towards their target. Roe had become stronger, and had the will to fight for her Planet. They had realized by now the base would be well defended, as at times, Covenant Drop Ships flew by, just out of reach. They had reached a crest in the mountain, where below they could see the entire base. It appeared that hundreds, if not thousands of troops were marching back and forth. A dozen tanks lie in wait just beyond the city. They had no idea of the battle they'd face...
Rogue Beast Final

Rogue Beast Rebel Yell
Location: Covenant Base 56-C Year: 2554
The windowless structure provided an excellent area for Covenant Snipers to prepare for the coming of the Brute army. The high powered plasma darts were loaded and ready, while all across the streets, the cannon fodder marched meticulously back and forth, unaware of their impending death.
"General, this area is secure, our Snipers are ready." An Elite Lieutenant said, saluting by throwing his fist across his chest. "Excellent, be sure to keep an eye peeled; we don't know how well planned they actually are." The white plated General said, saluting as well.
Location: Just outside 56-C Year: 2554
"So Roe, we've been traveling for quite some time, and yet I have not spoken to you very often. Where do you come from?" Said the Brute, Kayliss, the Brute who had saved her from her own suicide. "I came from the Central Continent. I'm not very used to this cold weather. My family and I grew up on a tall tree, along with 12 other family units. The Covenant came when I was digging for roots one morning. Their faces, those hideous double jawed faces; they stared at me, grinning with delight as they began to cage me. When I was put into the Drop Ship, I could see my Parents caged as well. As a sign of how serious they were..." She said, not wanting to go on. "... they shot them in the head."
Her face went limp, as she struggled not to cry. Kayliss had seen Brutes like this throughout his travels, each one, unable to recover. "That's just one more reason while we won't let them back to this Pla..." He began.
A crackle went through the air, and Kayliss was unaware of the plasma dart in his neck by the time he stumbled to the ground, dead. Roe was shocked, as she turned towards the white smoke line, finding it coming from the base.
"CHARGE!!!!!!!!" Came a Brute, as the hundreds of Brutes began to flow down the hill. One by one as Roe ran, Brutes were shot down to the ground...
Location: Sniper Building Year: 2554
"Good shot!" Came the Lieutenant, watching a strong male fall right next to a woman. She seemed familiar. "Fire two!" "Roger, reload" "Got one!"
The comments wouldn't stop, as dozens of Brutes fell before they even reached the city walls. The plan they had made fell right into place. By the time they'd even get there, their numbers would be crippled, and their plan ruined.
Location: 56-C Entrance Year: 2554
Two Ghosts sped by Roe, as they began to fire on the wall. As it toppled, their opposition was apparent. "KLICK KLICK!" Came a Jackal as he overloaded his pistol.
Roe wasn't ready for it all, as green blobs floated past her head, and large green missiles fired back. She covered her head, firing forward, hoping she'd hit something. Overhead, large blue fireballs hit the ground, destroying one of their own tanks.
"Damn, we lost Artillery!" Said a Brute. "Infantry 1 to Crescent Valley, come in." He said.
"Roger, we read you." Came the comm.
"I need an sniper strike on those tanks at the far edge of the facility."
Location: Crest of Mountain Side overlooking 56-C
"I need a sniper strike on those tanks at the far edge of the facility." Came a commander.
"Roger, engaging." Came one of the Snipers, holding his gun carefully. The Elites left the hatch open on the Wraiths, as a sign of pride. A crack and pop began, as shots were fired repeatedly. Finally, they had succeeded.
"Excellent shot my friend. It seems these devils have TOO much pride." They said, beating their chest in victory. "Crescent Valley to Infantry 1, Artillery down."
Location: Center Plaza (56-C)
Roe moved quickly, gaining courage, finding that the Artillery was down. Grunts ran past her in fright, not wanting to die. She only laughed, launching a missile into their numbers. Explosions rattled the Sniper buildings, sending them toppling down, killing them all. "GAH! NOOOO!" Came a Grunt, begging for mercy.
The thoughts of her parents came back to her, watching them die. There was no mercy according to her. She fired a rocket, sending his pieces scattering.
An enemy Ghost began to charge towards her, firing its plasma weapons with no success. As it was about to ram her, she pulled out her new grenade, attached it to the front, and dodged. The Ghost exploded, sending it flipping over and over. The driver fell out, still barely alive, but not for long. She heard his long cry of death. For a moment, she pitied them.
A Brute ran by her, "Roger Command, we've reached the Prophet building."
Location: Prophet Izahea Command Structure Year: 2554
The rumbles became louder, as Banshees from the outside bombed it repeatedly, unwilling to stop until she was dead. Her red eyes now dim, half open and wrinkly. "Commander, what's.... what's the status of the structure?" She said.
The Elite looked worried, "Not good ma'am. We won't be able to take many more hits. The Infantry has almost reached the entrance. I suggest we evacuate." He said in a panic.
She looked angry, lifting her hand in disappointment. "NO! We... will... stay. I won't allow them to win." She said, struggling for breath.
A bomb fell upon the roof, sending it topping down upon the Prophet. She was dead. When the Brutes finally arrived, her body was taken, and dragged through the streets, and plasma rockets were fired up in the air in celebration. Roe watched from afar, trying to grasp the horror.
"What are they doing? How can they be so cruel?" She thought to herself. She didn't know why she helped them. They seemed no more honorable than the people they had just faced. It seemed the world around her toppled under the stress of the new epiphany. She took her armor, and weapons and laid them in the Central Plaza. She began to ride south upon a Ghost, towards her home in the tropical trees, where hopefully, the world she knew would be hidden from her eyes...
The End.
