Origin of the Species Chapter One- Arrivals
Date: 26 August 2004, 1:10 AM
***This story is nothing like A Story of a Grunt, so please take that into consideration because I have canceled A Story of a Grunt unless 10 people or more wish it (A Story of a Grunt) to continue. If you do, post or email me. You all have 3 weeks to get 10 people.
************************************************************ HAKARA Planet. Yudl (translated May) 2290 A.D.
Unwee moved quietly through the lush, green forest in search of his prey, a geenor. The geenor had been eluding Unwee for some time now. Unwee was getting annoyed but had enjoyed it because of the challenge...at first.
Unwee stood about five feet tall and was somewhat thin. He held a laser rifle hunting the geenor. He had shot at the prey multiple times earlier, but he knew he had shot it because there was yellow blood on the ground next to some mashed up leaves.
A bush was rustling about twelve feet in front of where Unwee was standing. He went over to it, laser rifle, ready to fire, pointed at the bush, and he parted it. He saw a ripple that was about three feet taller than him moving just inches from his body. He closed his eyes for a second and when he opened them, the thing that was in front of him had obviously moved.
He looked around, ever alert. He started to step backward very slowly. He turned around and started to walk normally but looked around his shoulder to see if the thing was following him. Unwee wasn't going to take his chances. He didn't care about his prey as long as he was alive.
He finally exited the forest and saw his village. He heard a crunch behind him and looked back. The blur was there again, it had stepped on a twig. He started to run toward the village and didn't look back at all. Unwee didn't care what that thing was, as long as it didn't harm him or any other Hakarans.
The village was relatively big that was surrounded by a wall made from the same metal as their laser weapons. It could not be penetrated by anything they knew of. Although it was considered a small village by the Hakarans, it had a total of 62,000 people in it.
"Open the gate," he said to the gate guard.
"Welcome back! Proceed Unwee," said the guard as he opened the gate. Other guards were posted at the gate but were usually asleep, due to the boredom.
Unwee trotted toward his house that was on the outskirts of the village but was still inside the walls. He didn't like to go to the village but he did if he needed supplies for his hunts, but he did have few friends. That was pretty much the only reason he ever went to the village. He finally got home, made from wood from his forest, and went inside.
"Ahhh! Home at last," he said to himself.
He put his rifle on the wall along with his other rifles. This one was the smallest he had since he was hunting small prey that day. He usually hunted for considerably larger prey but he had learned all their tricks so he got bored with them.
Unwee went to his room and got into his bed. He dosed off 15 minutes after he got into bed.
HAKARA Planet. Bquartl (July) 2290 A.D.
Unwee never witnessed another blur, and he was glad he didn't. That thing scared the poo out of him. He never wanted to see it again, so he stayed out of the forest and any where near it. If he ever saw it again, he made sure he was going to shoot it.
On this day, which happens once a month, he goes to the Church of Minesh (Church of God, to them). He walked through the town and up the church stairs. He sat in his usual seat, the back, and was waiting to listen to what the minister was going to say. Unwee usually saw the minister up talking with the other people in the church, but he wasn't here today, and he never made an announcement to the people that he wasn't going to be here today.
"Must be out sick today," he thought.
Just then, a figure walked out of the room beside the podium where the minister enters. It was nothing like the people in the church or any where else on Hakara. The Hakarans in the church stopped talking and looked up at this creature in awe. It was much taller that them, and it sat on a chair that hovered. It had some sort of "crown" on it's head and wore red robes. It's head had some sort of symbol on it.
"We are the Covenant. Do not resist us or oppose us in any way and no one will get hurt. I am a Prophet," he said.
When he said that two aliens that looked nothing like him came out of the same door. They took up the Prophet's two sides and held a gun pointed at the crowd.
"You have 3 days to decide. We will be back by then. Oh, and this church will be destroyed so I suggest you get away."
The church started to rumble and Unwee looked out the window to see some sort of large, purple ship appear. The Prophet and it's two body guards walked out the church and got inside the ship. Unwee ran out the church after them and went strait home. The others in the church did the same.
Unwee looked back after he was about one mile away from the church and he saw a flash of lightning that hit the ground where the church had laid. Unwee knew none of the Hakarans would ever be a "Covenant". He at least knew he wasn't going to be.
He decided that before they came back, he would get his friends armed with their rifles and fire at this "Prophet" to try to kill it and it's body guards. He knew that that would envoke a war but they are the ones who started it. After he succesfully kills this creature he will go to other villages and cities and tell them of this threat, if they haven't already visited them, he thought.
THREE DAYS LATER
Unwee got into a building with five of his friends at a nearby structure. He had his largest caliber rifle he and his friends had. His plan was that they will wait for the other ship to leave, just in case it could annialate every one there, and then start to fire at the Prophet and his guards when they were sitting ducks.
Other Hakarans were waiting in other structures in adjacent buildings with the same plans. Unwee saw a purple dot in the sky and he readied his rifle. The Prophet walked out but his bodyguards were no where in sight.
He held up his that signaled when to fire. His friends shouldered their rifles and got ready to aim. He threw down his hand and they started to fire at the Prophet...

Origin of the Species-Part Two: New Technology
Date: 30 August 2004, 7:53 PM
Hakara. Bquartl(July) 2290 A.D.
Unwee threw down his arm and the Hakarans started to fire at the Prophet, but it looked as if it had a shield of some sort. The prophet just stood there, in the middle of the rubble. The prophet looked around at the fire that was coming down on him from the buildings. 43 Hakarans were firing at him. He made a little smile, then nodded his head. Its two body guards deactivated their camouflage and started to shoot back at the Hakarans. "What the? The two body guards!" said one of Unwee's friends. One guard threw a purple looking ball at the building Unwee was in. They didn't know what it was so they ran out of the room as fast as they could. One of his friends tripped and the ball went off, killing him. It blew the room and two other rooms they were in. "FALL BACK! We can't win here! MOVE!" shouted Unwee to the other Hakarans.
Unwee was humiliated. He never expected that to happen. The prophet with the shield. The guards with camo. "If we can get our hands on that we can kick some serious Covie butt," he thought. The next time he met the Covenant, he would be better prepared. Laser rifles seemed to have some effect, but not a lot. He looked up at the sky and saw blinking lights, and the two moons around his planet. He looked back at his friends and their friends. "At least we tried," said one of his friends, Nuhg, "we know some of their technology." "Yes but not enough. If we can produce better weapons we could probably beat them," said Unwee. "I've heard of something. It's called plasma. I've heard it is quite effective." "Well, were do we get some?" "I think at the capitol. But who knows if it was destroyed." "We are going to have to find out. Rally the resistance members. We are going to the capitol." Nuhg rounded up the members and they met at Unwee's house. He told them of the plan and they thought it was going to be suicide, because few of them heard that the capitol was completely destroyed. "Maybe you've heard it but we don't know for sure. Besides, we could use the plasma if it is there." "Isn't that what the Covenant used? I've heard it was plasma. It did seem effective on us. I vote we go get it," said some one in the resistance. "Alright, I'm in," said another. Soon three fourths of the group said they would go, the others said they would stay in case of another Covenant attack. Unwee tried to dissuade them because they wouldn't stand a chance, but it was their choice.
Hakara. Oust(August) 2290 A.D.
Unwee and the 32 members of the resistance moved out seven days after they attacked the Prophet. The capitol was about 100 miles away and they didn't have any vehicles. If they could get enough plasma weapons and more members they would have a mighty resistance against the Covenant. The Hakarans passed several war-torn villages and saw thousands of dead Hakarans and only few body guards. "What are those things?" thought Unwee. "Maybe we can use their weapons." "Hey guys! Come over here, we have some plasma weaponry," he said as he picked up one that was blue and had markings on the side. He also found some tiny, blue balls on the ground with an orange ring around it and it seemed to have a button in the middle of it. Unwee pressed the button and it started to sizzle. Blue smoke came off it and he thought he should throw it before anything happens. It landed on a guard carcass and stuck to it. Three seconds later, the body was vaporized in a large, blue blast. "Fascinating. Ooh, what's this?" he thought as he picked up a smaller version of the other weapon he picked up. This one looked greenish. While he picked it up, he must have accidentally triggered it, and it shot a green bolt into a wall ten feet in front of him. He went over to the wall and examined it. It had melted the metal they used. Something could penetrate the metal they had. "This should work very well against the Covenant," said Nuhg. "It looks like it should, anyway." Unwee nodded in agreement. "Take some men and search the bodies for weapons and see if you can find whatever made them invisible. Also, see if you can take their armor off so we can use it. Some other men and I are going to look for some vehicles." "Alright. I'm on it," he said. He gathered 18 men and started to search the bodies. They took the armor off and started to examine it. Unwee and the others that were with him looked for some vehicles, and they found a few, but they were too badly damaged. They had given up hope until they came up to a structure and inside they found three hover trucks. They loaded themselves and the equipment they had onto the trucks and searched for Nuhg and the others. It turned out there were just enough chest plates for everyone. It also turned out they were too big so everybody customized it so it would fit on them. Unwee got a blue colored one as did a lot of others, and Nuhg got a red one, as did only few others. They also found some sort of batteries for the weapons but they didn't know how to use them but they tugged them along with them, just in case they did find out. Unwee assigned five members to find out how the batteries could be used. Meanwhile, the others set up camp in some woods near a village. They found enough food to sustain them for two months. It was only fifteen more miles to the capitol, and they were going to leave first thing in the morning. He made sure the guys got plenty of rest before they got to the capitol, in case they did have to fight.
The troops got into the three trucks and made their way to the capitol. It took only 40 minutes to get there, and when they did, it was also damaged. They could hear gun fire in the city so they thought the Hakarans fighting in the city would be glad they came. They moved closer to the city and found that the main gate was destroyed. "We have found out how to replace the battery. It's so obvious we didn't think about it. You see this part here" he pointed to a little crack in the gun, "you put the battery right next to it and it expands. Then you push it in and it works like new." "Good job. Get the word out to the others," said Unwee. Unwee sent out three soldiers to scout the city and find their allies if there were any left. He waited a while until they finally came back, saying that there were at least 5,000 Hakaran soldiers in the city fighting what they called "Elites." By now, all the others knew how to change the battery so they all moved into the city. The three scouts were driving the trucks so they would get to the soldiers faster. When they arrived at the location, four regulars came out to greet the reinforcements. "Nice to have some company. I like the armor, where can we get some?" asked a soldier. "Off the dead elites," Nuhg replied. "Where do you need us, sir?" asked Unwee. "Don't call me sir, I'm not the highest rank here, he is," the soldier said. He pointed to the person next to him and stepped back. "I'll show you. Follow me," said the officer. Unwee and the others followed him to a building and went inside. He could see wounded soldiers around him when they walked in. "What happened here?" asked Nuhg. "It looks like you got slaughtered." "We got bombed from orbit," he replied. "Thousands of people lost their lives in the first bombing. Many more were wounded. Then a second volley came from space and wiped out more of us, then the ships started coming down, and thousands of elites poured out onto the streets, killing anybody they saw. They did take a lot prisoners, as in the other towns and cities. I see you have some plasma weaponry. It's a good thing too, our lasers were useless against them. I need you right here, this is were most of our casualties are." Unwee crouched next to a window and started to shoot. He saw hundreds of dead Hakaran and Covenant soldiers liter the streets. Nuhg and the others barricaded their windows and started to shoot down at the elites as well. He looked to were the elites were at and saw a lot of them take up windows, to shoot at the Hakarans. Dropships were landing and taking off behind the buildings the elites garrisoned. He knew this was going to be a long war...
