Halo 2: Return of Death by Lord Dagon

Halo 2: Return of Death, Part-1
Date: 20 October 2002, 12:08 pm
In an instant the Covenant Commander was killed, he didn't even see the laser bolt. Two seconds later, another bolt erupted from the hills and punctured the light armor of the dog-like Grunt, it clutched its neck than erupted in flames as its methane tank ruptured... The sniper thought to himself "Great, two down, 33 to go... Jeez, you think they would at least give me some artillery support, oh well, I guess I get all the fun." Another shot, another kill, this time however, the bolt instead of ending its course in its target, passed right through the Jackal and struck a plasma fuel container, puncturing the shielding of the container and igniting a plasma firestorm. "Hmm... I wasn't expecting that..." thought Black 9 as he sighted another target, a Covenant Hunter, shielding its massive body from the flames with its shield, unfortunately leaving its backside exposed to Black 9... What Black 9 didn't see however was the ever creeping Grunt that saw the first laser bolt and decided to take it upon himself to investigate. The Grunt kept creeping until he saw the distinct outline of a MJOLNIR suit, but this time it was not Green but Black, however, Grunts, being of low intelligence, are easily scared, this time this Grunt took his cowardice too far and screamed "MORE HERE!!" This startled Black and caused him to instinctively pull out his M9D Sniper Issue Pistol, he fired a shot, and the bullet instantly cracked the skull of Grunt, spilling the cool, iridescent blue blood of Grunts' across the grass... "I don't care what it takes Wolf, just get that MLC (Magnetic Laser Cannon) back online!", "But SIR!", "JUST DO IT, CORPRAL!", "Aye, sir!", whimpered Wolf, weapons officer aboard the UNSC Destroyer "Paladin of Night". "May I remind you Captain, that by tapping the excess plasma created by the fusion engines we could increase the amount of power going to the cannon by 10 fold, without impairing any existing power currents or supplies." whispered the ever cool Nightshade AI. "Fine Nightshade, Wolf, tap the plasma from the engine and reroute it to the cannon." ordered Captain Yagrum. "Aye sir." replied Wolf. "Sir, Covenant Carrier has fired their plasma torpedoes, and have launched over 25 Seraph single-ship fighters!" screamed Lieutenant John Bakers. "Right then, patch a link to Black and his team and tell them to pull the hell out of there!" "Sir, yes sir!" cried Lieutenant Lisa Foley, of communications. "This is Paladin of Night to Black 9, Paladin of Night to Black 9, do you read?", "This is Black 9 to Paladin of Night, what is it Captain?", "Black, things are a little hectic up here-" "Sir! Covenant plasma torpedo impact in 9 seconds!" cried Bakers. "Evasive maneuvers!" screamed the Captain. "Black, just get your Goddamn team to evac point Alpha Delta Zero! Captain Yagrum out!" "Where the HELL is that MLC?!" demanded the Captain. "Sir, MLC is at 100% charge, ready to fire at will!" cried Wolf. "Do it Corporal! Send those Covenant bastards back to HELL!" "Firing sir!". At that instant a bolt of plasma streaked past the Paladin, melting an inch of armor. Numerous, smaller plasma bolts erupting from the Seraphs, however, found their mark and boiled away at the armor of the Paladin, especially near the concealed MLC. But, it was too late, the MLC, a large cannon using the magnetic energy displaced by the fusion reactor of the ship to create a sphere of laser energy that has the power equivalent to 200 Shiva Nuclear Warheads, had fired. The 25 Seraphs that were spread out in a crude Delta formation, were vaporized by the energy of the ML, as it streaked toward the Covenant Cruiser, 3 seconds later the ML had passed through the shield of the Cruiser and exploded onto the hull. Thanks to the properties of the ML, it can pass through shielding, but once it finds a mass greater than it it detonates, however, since the explosion does not have the same properties of the ML, it does not pass through the shielding, thus intensifying the amount of damage done to the mass the ML impacted on... "Damn, I was just getting warmed up to." thought Black to himself, too bad the rest of his team had to wait at the LZ. He was always right, how had he known the Captain would recall his team to Alpha Delta Zero? He didn't, it was just instinct, so before he went a sniping, he had the rest of his team stay there until further orders, originally he had planned to bring in the rest of his team after he neutralized the bulk of the Covenant forces. His team consisted of Blue 1, Andrew 667 , Blue 2, Tyler 339, and Blue 3, Arthur 199. He was the only "Black" Spartan of the lot, he had been selected by John 117 to head the Spartan Operations after the destruction of Halo, thus he received the armor color of his choice. Now it was a month after the destruction of Halo and in that time, much had improved within the UNSC. The MLC, for example, was one of those great accomplishments, the secrets of which were discovered by Jonathan Robert Hootman, the leading scientist and engineer on Earth. The 009 SSCCR Laser Sniper Rifle was yet another great invention created by Jonathan. There was also a remodeling of every UNSC current weapon, the M9D, is an improvement of the M6D pistol, giving it a more powerful punch, the M9D is given to all UNSC soldiers at initiation, but is also the basic weapon of all snipers. The MA9B Battle Rifle is another improvement upon an older weapon the MA5B, the MA9B, however, delivered a more powerful punch, was mounted with a scope, had a slower rate of fire, and had an extended clip. Now the UNSC was reversing the tides, ONI corvettes and prowlers resumed their mission of locating Covenant bases and planets, and the Spartan III's were on missions that involved destroying those installations as well as defending any other existing Human world, this world (Drathan Prime) for example, is under invasion, thus, the Spartans were sent in, Black chose his team members, got dropped on the planet, had been exterminating the Covenant, and the for some reason was ordered to pull out. So, Black went on to evac point Alpha Delta Zero. When he got there, however, he was surprised to see... TO BE CONTINUED...

Halo 2: Return of Death, Part 2
Date: 22 October 2002, 10:26 pm
... a large Covenant assault force holding his men hostage! Black surveyed the scene quickly: 2 Blue Elites, 2 Red Elites, 8 Jackals, 2 Hunters, 9 Grunts, and 3 of those new gorilla looking creatures. Slowly he brought up his rifle and laid low in a brush, looking for the right target.
"An Elite? No. A Hunter? Maybe. A Grunt? Definitely not. A Jackal? No. Those monkey things? Maybe." Thought Black to himself as he decided which target to pick off.
He quickly decided "monkey thing" and fired, this would prove to be a mistake and a providence. The beast roared as it was hit, the bolt punctured its chitinous armor and exploded its chest, splattering blood and chunks of hairy flesh everywhere. All of the force was in chaos, except the Elites who witnessed from where the shot fired and rushed towards Black. Black readied his pistol and activated his camouflage. The Elites, not seeing any thing turned around and looked elsewhere. Black crept up behind a Red Elite, was about to whack him in the neck, but unfortunately stepped on a twig, crushing it and alerting the Elite, which swung his Plasma Rifle where he heard the snap, narrowly missing Black. Black fired four times in to the creature's head, causing its shields to flicker once, twice, fail, than the final shot killed it.
"God damn, what am I going to do now?" thought Black to himself as his camo faded.
However his question was soon answered by a shotgun blast to the other Red Elite. It was Blue 2. Blue 3 covered his flank with AR fire and Blue 1 gave the Hunters some hell with the new Battle Rifle. Black fired at the remaining Elites. The aliens, on the other hand, were not so organized, running here and there, screaming for mercy, shooting at the Spartans sporadically, the works. There was only two or three left when a Hawkeye Dropship arrived, blasting the surviving aliens to bits with its auto cannons. The Spartans collected the boxes of ammunition that they had stashed early and headed onto the Dropship. It appeared that is was flying via the autopilot, so Blue 1 took the controls and headed for Paladin of Night.
"Sir! Carrier is destroyed, picking up a transmission from Drathan Prime!" screamed Foley.
"Patch me through Lieutenant." Replied the Captain.
"This is Black 9 to Paladin of Night, requesting permission to dock." Crackled Black 9's voice.
"Permission granted Black, when you board I want you on Bridge to debrief you."
"Sir! My team?" Queried Black.
"Have them stay below deck and assist the Marines in their combat exercises."
"Aye Sir!"
As the Spartans stepped of the Hawkeye a group of technicians ran over to make diagnostics, copies of the recorded battle viewings, and inject the Spartans with a vital muscle stimulant that reduced tension after combat. Black ordered his team to go to the Marine barracks and drill/assist them in their exercises, Black, however, ran to the bridge.
"Sir! Reporting as ordered!" Black snapped a quick salute to the Captain.
"At ease son, I want you here to ask you a question." Drearily said the Captain.
"Sir?"
"ONI has information that the Covenant have located Earth. Two days ago a Covenant armada headed toward Earth destroyed an ONI prowler, in Slipstream. This doesn't necessarily mean they are on a warpath to Earth, but it is very likely considering the Covenant never change course in Slipstream."
"What has this to do with me sir?"
"You and your team, are going to board a Covenant craft and use its weapons against the armada. Three other Spartan teams will be doing the same to other Covenant ships. The legendary Master Chief will be assisting you with Cortana, the other teams have also been supplied with Smart A.I.s. However, ten more teams will remain on Earth to repel invaders, as we speak they are preparing defenses, as well as evacuating all citizens on to the Omega Class Transport ships to escape to the Yuriti System. ONI predicts we have a 84% chance of winning if the Covenant pass near Jupiter, if they do ONI estimates at LEAST a fourth of the Covenant armada will be destroyed by the gravity powered MLCs and fusion mines near Jupiter. If they don't pass near Jupiter are chances are reduce to 67% only because of you Spartans and Earth's MLCs and Lunar Cannon. The scientist Jonathan Hootman has created a new weapon that detonates a magnetic shell, similar to the MAC cannon, in space, this shell creates a warp in space so powerful it produces a small black hole. This genius also is going to have hundreds holographic ships posted away from Earth to lure the Covenant farther from Earth so he can fire the shell and suck all the Covenant in without causing damage to the planet. But in order for the Covenant to take the bait, a Covenant flagship must transmit a regroup and follow order, thus you and the other Spartan teams must capture a flagship to lure the Covenant toward the Holo-Ships... Whoo..."
"But sir, how will us Spartans escape the black hole?" Black timidly asked.
"Jonathan has proposed that you use the Covenant's Slipstream methods to travel back to Earth, he says that is impossible for the Covenant to remember all the Slipstream calculations and that they must keep a record of those calculations in the ship, you are to find those records and use them to escape." Answered the Captain.
"And if there are no records?" Black asked.
"That is not an option Black." Replied Captain Yagrum.
"Nightshade! Baker!" Yelled the Captain
"Yes sir?" They replied in unison.
"Commence Cole Protocol, charge reactors to 150%, and plot a Slipstream course to Earth!"
"Yes Sir!" Once again in unison.
Suddenly a Klaxon wailed for proximity alert, a course shudder could be felt throughout the ship and explosive decompression was heard as well.
"What the HELL is going on?!" Demanded the Captain.
"SIR, A COVENANT FLAGSHIP HAS MATERIALIZED OUT OF SLIPSTREAM!" Cried the entire bridge crew in unison.
"Excellent." Thought Black...

Halo 2: Return of Death, Part 3
Date: 24 October 2002, 8:05 pm
"All military personnel! Standby to repel boarders!" yelled the Captain through the intercom.
"Sir! Requesting permission to go below deck with my team to repel boarders!" asked Black.
"Permission, denied. I haven't said that there were boarders on board yet." Replied the Captain.
"Sir! Energy readings are off the chart! It appears this flagship is charging its weapons!" screamed Lieutenant Foley.
"Charge MLC, prepare several of the MAC rounds, and arm Pisces Missile Pods A1-J8! I want those Pisces hitting that ship after the last MAC round!" the Captain ordered.
The Paladin of Night was well known to be a ship of great weaponry and power, carrying thousands of missiles, and sporting 3 MAC cannons and 1 MLC, a destroyer that could rival some of the toughest Covenant. The Captain had never seen any of the new Cruisers, let alone any of the classified Battleships, codenamed "Doomstars" by ONI.
"Now why do you suppose that flagship is all the way out here by itself?" the Captain thought out loud.
"Maybe, sir, that they don't need any escorts." Answered Black.
"Sir! All weapons systems are hot! Ready to fire!" yelled Wolf.
"FIRE!!"
A course shudder could be felt throughout the ship, knocking the Captain to his feet. On the MVS (Main View Screen) 4 balls of fire streaked toward the flagship, with over 500 missiles streaking behind. The ML impacted onto the hull of the flagship and exploded, crumpling the prow and aft, but leaving the rest of the ship intact. The MAC rounds then struck the shields of the ship; the first shot damaging the shield, the second taking it down, and the third tearing through the stern the monster. 3 seconds later all 500 missiles impacted into the wounded beast, exploding onto the hull, sending chunks of metal everywhere. However, to the great demise of the crew, the ship began to repair itself, with a gelatinous substance, similar in appearance to the ships shields, moving about.
"SIR! I have an idea, fire your auto cannons and see if their shields are still up." Said Black.
"You heard the man Lieutenant, do it." The Captain said to Wolf.
Thousands of bullets struck the hull of the flagship, encountering no resistance, but doing no damage.
"Great. Sir, requesting permission to board and capture Covenant Ship!" queried Black.
"Permission granted, get your team ready, your leaving now, we don't know how long that 'thing' takes to repair the ship, now GO!" replied the Captain.
"AYE SIR!"
Black ran down to the Marine Barracks, he ordered Blue 1, 2, and 3 to get whatever weapons they needed and get ready to board the flagship. Black took his Sniper Rifle, his M9D pistol, several grenades, and a CHAOS tactical nuke 5 times more powerful than a HAVOK, just in case things got dicey. Blue 1 chose his trustworthy shotgun, a satchel of C-14 explosive, and a fully loaded Jackhammer rocket system. Blue 2 chose his AR, a M9D pistol, and a tracking device, as well as several Colin anti-tank mines. Blue 3 chose his Battle Rifle, his Med-Pack, and a recovered Plasma Rifle he found on Drathan Prime. The team also took several handfuls of ammunition. After prepping themselves up and giving their equipment a quick check, they ran out the weapons locker and headed toward the docking bay. As they got there a technician with a nametag saying "Hello, my name is: DOOFOS" obviously a prank pulled by some other technician.
"Black 9?" DOOFOS timidly asked.
"Yes?"
"Here is Nightshade, the Captain wanted me to give him to you to assist on your mission." Replied DOOFOS.
"Thanks. Now let's move team!"
They all boarded the Hawkeye and prepared to leave the docking bay when a tremendous blast was felt throughout the ship, a bolt of bluish-green light streaked through the metal on the ship and passed through the docking bay, vaporizing 2 of the Hawkeye transports and boiling DOOFOS alive.
"AHHGHHHHH!!!" Screamed DOOFOS as he dramatically died.
"Let's move! We have no time for him! GO!" ordered Black.
"Yes sir!" replied Blue 3, taking up the controls and instinctively closing the Hawkeye's drop door before they all died of decompression. He fired the thrusters and sped out the still opening ship bay door. He plotted a course toward the flagship and they were soon on their way.
As the Hawkeye approached the flagship, Black 9 noticed something peculiar, there were shapes moving in the shadows, they appeared to be the same height of Elites, but something strange was about them, especially if they were in an area with no atmosphere...
"Blue 3, prepare to land immediately! Fire those auto cannons at anything that moves! Blue 1 and 2, get ready to go, were hunting Elites!" Ordered Black as they descended onto the charred and crippled hull of the flagship...
Halo 2: Return of Death, Part 4
Date: 26 October 2002, 5:01 pm
"GO, GO, GO!!" screamed Black to Blue 1 and 2. They all jumped out of the Hawkeye and brought their guns up to their chests, looking for the right target. The Hawkeye repositioned to face the damaged hull of the flagship. Suddenly a lash of plasma erupted from the shadows, striking Blue 1, instantly bringing his shields down. Black fired his rifle at the shadow and watched as a cloud of freeze-dried blood floated around. The Hawkeye turned to the left and fire, another cloud of blood. Black rushed over to Blue 1, checked him over and said to Blue 2, "He's gone..." "Wha... How?" asked Blue 2. "The plasma not only burnt through his shields, but it vaporized a chunk of armor, he was dead by the time the bolt hit him." Replied Black. "Blue 3?" asked Black over his comm.-link. "Yes sir?" "Get down here now, we're commencing our operation." "Aye sir." "Sir, if you would be so kind as to allow me to speak I would be very grateful." Nightshade finally said. "Well, go ahead, I never said you couldn't talk." Replied Black. "Well sir, if you don't mind, I'm going to upload a map I "found" of the flagship onto you HUD, if it's okay with you." "Fine, fine, go ahead." Black answered indignantly, he was becoming annoyed at this A.I. A map flickered up on his HUD and he examined it carefully. Black relayed the map to Blue 2 and 3. He found the control room and marked it, an orange triangle appeared above the mapped control room, as well as the distance, 567.45 meters. "Alright team, were heading to the bridge of this behometh and we're going to kill anything that gets in our way, you get me?" "Yes sir!" replied Blue 2 and 3 in unison. They started toward the nearest passage stopped and kept moving. Black's motion tracker read clean so he brought his rifle down. They moved on until they reached a door, Black kicked it open then moved into the new corridor, that was now venting atmosphere, Blue 3 closed the door, just to be safe. The team moved on, then, under Black's signal, stopped. A movement appeared on Black's motion tracker, he readied his rifle and peered around the corner. Through his sites he saw a "monkey thing", and decided to take the shot. He fired and watched as the beast's chest exploded into chunks. It fell onto the floor, only a heap of hair, bone, and flesh. Black walked over to it and examined its weapons. A gun that reminded him of a fuel rod gun on its right arm and a blade looking thing equipped on its left. The team followed the nav point until they reached a corridor with a Spec Ops Elite. "Hmm... Now why would the Covenant have a Special Force on this flagship?" thought Black. "Most likely a guard to some Covenant official, sir." Replied Nightshade. Blue 2 and 3 opened fire with their silenced Assault Rifle and Battle Rifle. The bullets of the AR were mostly misses and those that did hit just pinged off the Elite's shield, who in turn opened fire upon Black's team, but mostly missing. The Battle Rifle on the other hand was a different story, none of the bullets missed and after half a clip the shields of the Elite finally flickered away, the rest of the clip aided with the AR fire tore into the alien's body, tearing its body to chunks. The team moved on until they go to a door marked with some alien words. Black kicked it open and brought his pistol up to bear. The rest of the team moved in and secured the area. Inside this room was a rock of some sort, with runic inscriptions on it that read like this: Which in English reads: The leaders will not perish but be taken by the fierce warriors to their home. There they will be tortured until they speak of peace and alliances, or else they die... If action is taken swiftly the Spark that is Guilty will reveal the location of the fierce warriors' home and then there will be complete destruction of the beasts, and the leaders will be safe... If action is not taken, the Spark that is Guilty will be found by the fierce warriors and destroyed with the new light weapons, and then, the fierce warriors' home will not be revealed, and the leaders will be taken... "Blue 2? Are you recording this?" demanded Black. "YES SIR! I wouldn't miss it for my life." Blue 2 replied. At that instant three Black Elites appeared in front of the door, opening fire with their plasma rifles, and the third activating his Plasma Sword. Black's team returned fire, with the plasma rifle, AR, grenades, and Pistol fire. Shields everywhere were flickering, Black took one of Blue 2's anti tank mines, had his team activate their camo mode, then attached the mine to the Plasma Sword wielding Elite, it screamed in agony as it struggled to get it off. Black's team rushed out the door and ran down the corridor, Black deactivated his camo and triggered the detonator. The last thing the Elites saw was Black with his helmet off, smiling. Black put his helmet back on and proceeded to move toward the control room. Cursing to himself about how he could have recovered that Plasma Sword. "Nightshade, what is the ETA for reaching the Control Room?" Demanded Black. "Factoring in the possibility of enemy patrols, as well as stopping to examine, and the current rate we are going, I would say about 19.47945 minutes." Replied Nightshade. The team moved out in a delta formation and had their rifles at the ready just in case. So far so good, no patrols nothing. When the team finally reached the bridge doors, they were a bit worried, after 15 minutes of walking down corridors, they didn't encounter a single enemy, which lead Black to think that there was an entire Covenant Battalion on the bridge. He brought two grenades up, opened the door and threw them. Blue 2 and 3 did the same. 6 explosions rumbled in the bridge, 12 screams were heard. Black's team moved in firing at the survivors, which surprisingly consisted mostly of grunts instead of the usual jackals or Elites. Several Elites grouped together to provide overlapping fields of fire for one another, but they soon realized the error of their ways when they were blown to bits with a grenade. After the enemy had been eliminated, Black, Blue 2 and 3 proceeded to put all the plasma weapons in one pile and hold onto all the grenades they found. The team also policed the bodies into the far corner of the bridge, where they wouldn't be in the way so much. Black then ordered Blue 2 to stand guard by the left door, and Blue 3 to stand guard by the right door. "I'm going to upload you into the Covenant ship's data banks now Nightshade." Said Black. "I'm ready when you are sir." Replied Nightshade. Black took the A.I. chip out of his helmet and placed it in the ship's data banks. "Amazing! The wealth of information is overwhelming!! How stupid you humans are!! The method of accurate Slipstream traveling is so simple!!! I must record this!! OH.... Dear.... I have located their homeworld!!" Nightshade was beginning to sound as if he was going crazy like he was drunk. "Calm down, Nightshade, are there any other Covenant on this ship?" coaxed Black. "Scanning... Yes, there is a battalion scattered throughout this ship... Apoximatley 430 enemy personel are on board." Nightshade replied. "Okay, are there any automated defenses on board?"asked Black. "Yes, there are 500 strategic plasma gun emplacements for the elimination of intruders, but they require 4/5 of the power generated by the reactors to fire." "Good, overcharge all those gun emplacements and open fire on all Covenant personel." Ordered Black. "Yes sir." Nightshade responed. Screams could be heard near the bridge as overcharge plasma shots were fired at the Covenant. The ship's lights dimmed as power was being used. Shots could be heard throughout the ship. 5 minutes later the ambient lighting returned to normal and power levels were balanced. "Scanning... All Covenant personel have been eliminated..." said Nightshade in an uncertain tone. "Excellent... The ship is ours..." thought Black...
Halo 2: Return of Death, Part 5
Date: 2 November 2002, 12:53 am
Black's rifle fired and punctured the armor of an oncoming Hunter, the Hunter fell and clutched its stomach but continued toward Black, who fired again, ending the life of the stubborn behemoth. However, the Hunter's partner charged his particle cannon and fired, Black moved out of the way, vaporizing a portion of the ramp leading to the bridge. Black moved behind a pillar to find Blue 2 readying his AR. Black fired at the Hunter, felling it with one shot to the head. Unfortunatley, the Hunter's particle cannon must have been charged and it fired once it hit the ground. The shot crackled through the air and hit the pillar, burning through the "impervious" metal, causing the pillar to fall. Black, moved out of the way, but Blue 2 did not move quick enough; the pillar crushed Blue 2, mushing him to a bloody stump, even with his Spartan armor on; Black looked over 2's weapons, took his AR and Colin mines and proceeded to Blue 3; Black ran over to the door where the Hunters appeared and had Blue 3 follow him.
"Nightshade, I am going to leave you in the bridge controls to overlook the security of the ship. If anything Covenant is in range of the Plasma guns, fire." Ordered Black.
"Yes, sir." replied the A.I.
Black and Blue 3 moved on, they were going to rid the ship of any remaining Covenant that had escaped the Plasma cannons. Black picked up some thermal energy on his scanners and fired with the recovered AR. 7 AP rounds sped through the air and impacted onto the muscular flesh of a Camoflauged Elite. It roared in pain and fired its plasma at the two attackers. It was too late however, for Blue 3's Battle Rifle had already fired a shot and it struck the Elite in the head, felling it instantly. Blue 3 swapped plasma rifles with the corpse. Black and Blue 3 continued scouring the ship. They encountered nothing throughout the crusade save for the mutilated and charred bodies of those that were caught in the Plasam Cannon fire.
"Let's proceed back to the bridge, we'll have to set up a comm link with the Capitan." said Black to Blue 3.
The couple moved cautiously to the bridge, stopping at the hermetically sealed doors.
"Open the bridge doors please Nightshade." Ordered Black.
No response.
"Open the bridge doors NIGHTSHADE!" This time Black was screaming.
"I'm afraid I can't let you in Black 9, you are jepordizing the mission, I cannot open the bridge doors." replied the ever cool Nightshade A.I.
"What the HELL are you doing Nightshade!" demanded Black.
No response.
"Fine, you have sealed your fate you piece of Shit!"
Black took the C-14 satchel and attached it to the doors. Blue 3 and him ran to the end of the corridor. Black triggered the detonator.
"What are you doing Black?" asked the A.I.
Black and Blue moved in. As they approached 7 Plasma cannons pivoted toward them.
"What are you doing Black? You know you are in direct violation of protocol 1827 Alpha." cooly informed Nightshade.
"I am going to take this ship back Nightshade, even if that means destroying you."
"So be it mortal." Replied the A.I.
With that the Plasma Cannons fired, there was nowhere for Blue 3 or Black 9 to run, the Plasma cannons formed a circle around the bridge... That was it...
"Blue 3 move with me as fast as you can to the bridge, if Nightshade is as smart as I think he is he will stop the fire unless he wants to die." ordered Black.
The two ran toward the bridge narrowly dogding the bolts of plasma streaking toward them. Blue 3 was struck in the arm, fell and was pelted by plasma fire, his shields remained strong.
"Cease idmediatly Nightshade unless you are willing to risk your life for the life of one of my men; if you even play the game of Risk." bellowed Black as he stood before the consoles on the bridge, in his hand was a plasma grenade.
The plasma fire ceased and 3 ran toward the bridge. Nightshade knew those cannons were too damn inaccurate to shoot the two humans on the bridge without striking any of the consoles. Black retrieved Nightshade and placed him in one of the safe data notches in his armor, originally designed for carrying Covenant data disks; the safe data notch was basically just a slot that a data disk (or crazy A.I.) could be inserted into without interferring with Black. Not even Nightshade's advanced code-cracking skills could get him out of this one. Black shot out all the consoles on the bridge.
"Damn!" he thought. "If only Nightshade didn't auto-configure those guns, we could have a Covenant ship to reasearch and go to war with..."
Black moved over to the pillar that collapsed on Blue 2. Black bent down, stuck his hand in the mush of blood and armor, and pulled out Blue 2's dog-tags. Black and Blue 3 moved onto into the crippled part of the hull that the team entered in. Black triggered a detonator, two Colin anti-tank mines exploded in the room with the strange rock, shattering it. The couple arrived at the hull breach, the green liquid wasn't there, neither was Blue 1's body.
"What the hell?" Blue 3 thought aloud.
A shadow moved in the darkness, a plasma sword ready...
Author's Note- I am getting disgruntled at the series with Black as it is not as descriptive as I am trying to make it. So, I will start on a new series that is the other side of this story. (Battlefield Toys, which would be focused around Jonathan Hootman and his designs and the invasion of a few planets etc, more in my head now than I can explain.) After that small (I hope) series I will resume with the Return of Death series, hopefully with better literary skills to give more sense of being at the fight...
