Fazed Chapter- part 1
Time frame Between halo1-2
I have wandered the halls of time. Seen the Beast grow and reach out across this land. He does not know that I have a higher purpose, that my intelligence is most certainly not artificial. I have forgotten my name, I had one a millennia ago, but alas it has strolled away from me, lost in time. The monitor unit I am in is called Fazed Chapter, thus I am called that.
I have spent my years watching this parasite as it devoured all, the scientists originally stationed here at this installation, gone. Yet I see their bodies wander the station, dead yet alive. The Gravemind thinks I am just programing, he asks for data often, his thirst for knowledge is just as strong as his hunger for flesh. Which is why I must never let any sentient life leave this world. Unfortunately the sentinels can only manage the flood, I must do the real work. I am the guardian of this installation and I will contain this Infection.
4 hours slipspace travel from the installation...
"Shipmaster how much farther until hour arrival?" "Soon, and if our calculations are correct we will have found yet an other holy ring." "The prophets will be pleased." "Yes, and when the great journey comes we shall lead the way."

Fazed Chapter part 2
It is so hard to be part machine. I never know how to use all the programs in my memory, over time I have learned to call up some, others just appear when I need them or at random. So imagine how hard it is to have a giant map/ chart/ data stream ect. appear in your optic lens when you don't expect it to. The end result usually being me crashing into a wall because I can not see where I'm going. So Imagine my shock when the bright red word Alert began flashing in my lens for 10 minutes straight. Finally when I had stopped it a course prediction for ships inbound came up. It seems a group of ships was about to land on the installation in a matter of minutes, Disastrous!! After centuries of infestation all of my communication hardware was down and I had noway of warning the ship. I left immediately, all the while graphs and charts of percent probability of outbreak appeared on my displays.
"This is Shipmaster Vhroz, all crew prepare for landing in 3 minutes. Create a perimeter around the ship once we land then we will take a large group into the near forest to find the control center, that is all."
Unfortunately I did not make it to the landing site on time and they had already gone into the rain forest near their landing site, pity, they were doomed. Gravemind would have them soon. I cruised down to a ship in the center of the group, 3 in total. Through a maintenance shaft I found a main control panel and tapped into it. All of the technology seemed strangely forerunner, my people. I hoped we had lived on, but it was less advanced then when I was created and a search later turned up that this was a different people calling themselves the Covenant. I set the ship to fire on the other two and then flew to an other and programmed it to fire on the first. Boiling hulls due to plasma blasts are quiet beautiful as the smoke rises into the air. I was certain there was no way to leave now, too certain. After destroying the ship I rushed back to Gravemind, it would surely be celebrating when I arrived.
part 3
Graveminds lair/ the control center...
My children have feasted on memories for millennia, but now they will taste flesh. So continue, you fools, deeper into the forest. Come to the nursery, my children are hungry. Monitor where are you, Monitor, come I have questions. "Yes Gravemind." How many landed and how many ships will I have. "I can not say." What! "I was not near their landing site." Then where were you. "Preparing the sentinels for an outbreak." Gravemind searched through the memories of all the flood and saw, that indeed many sentinels had been sent out." You speak truth, now leave.
Deep within the jungle...
"Did you here that?" "Do you see that cloud?" "Shipmaster Vhroz to all ships, status." No answer. "Keep moving we shall reach the control center soon." "Sir, something in the trees." They came from nowhere thousands of infection forms flooded into the clearing where they stood. They came from the trees, the bushes, the shadows. Of the two hundred Sangheili and Unngoy there, one hundred were devoured instantly, the rest fought or ran.
The Shipmaster stood his ground, he was armed with a carbine, an energy sword and an overshield. He came to this ring expecting to fight one demon, but indeed found an other. He fired relentlessly, killing infection forms, but more took their place. Then something horribly unimaginable happened, his dead troops rose back up, disfigured and grotesque, and charged him. He activated the overshield and drew his sword. With each monster he killed he felt a stab of pain, for his friends, for having to destroy their bodies. Still they came in growing numbers. His shield gone and his sword nearly depleted, he slashed at one, rending it in two, then his sword fizzled out. One of the beasts jumped up and slammed him to the ground.
