An Elites Legend: part one
Date: 21 October 2002, 8:23 pm
Log-date is 2403 Time reference 89:21 "I hate those humans. They deserve worse than death but death is all I can give them. I'm a special operations elite. I'm invisible in battle and I carry a plasma sword. I leave it off unless I've been compromised though. Many of our new solders have been killed because they left their swords on at all times. I've been on several missions to capture the disgusting human ships. I have exposed many human colonies, if you can call them that. They are uncivilized. They live their lives in fear. I am on the ship Truth and Reconciliation although I suspect I will be transferred soon. A few human ships made it out of the system of "Reach" after my mission to find it was successful. Our whole fleet gave chase to one small ship that is heading right toward Halo. How they found it I don't know. Two small ships had landed on the pathetic human ship right before they abandoned their planet. One came from the shipyard that we had been trying to capture. The other came from the planet. I personally had been in a seraph fighter trying to destroy the last one. I can't understand it but all the torpedoes that my squad and I shot somehow missed. We are about to exit slipstream. I should have about four hours before the human ship arrives. I must say one more thing. I meet the famous creatures that gave us all a scare. I was in my active camouflage and they didn't see me. I was trying to sneak into their primitive fusion power plant on the planet so I could deploy a plasma charge and bring it down. They were used to power the magnetic guns out in orbit. As much as we tried we couldn't get past those guns. The creature was called a Spartan. It looked fearsome. I decided to have a little fun with it. I through a plasma grenade on one of the human solders near it. It was funny to see him try to franticly get it off before it released its payload of deadly plasma. All his comrades abandoned him and ran. The Spartan as I will now call it took its primitive gun called a "rifle" and shot the grenade from the side. The plasma shot out away from the solder instead of at him and he was saved. I then flanked the "Spartan" and prepared to ignite my plasma sword. I didn't ignite it until it was only a few inches from its back. It cried out for a second before dropping to the ground. It twitched a few times before it died. The human solders turned around and started firing in my direction. Several shots hit my energy shield but there was no real damage. I then walked on to the plant and finished my mission. Those things are tough and they have shields but as you can see they are no match for us. I'm getting ready to board their ship the moment they come out of slipstream. It is guessed that they will try to evacuate to Halo when they get here and we must prevent that. I'm going to the hanger now. For now, bye." "I failed. Many humans got off the ship. I did accomplish my main goal though; I was trying to eject the escape pods before the humans on board had a chance to flee. I then just tried to explore the vessel before I had to leave. I had underestimated the ship's strength. The ship took more hits than I thought it could. I didn't have time to find the reason for the resilience. I left on a fighter instead of a drop ship, but otherwise nothing special happened. I'm going down to Halo now for exploration. I will report again when I get there."

ÆÇ-§é or in the language of their enemies, Kelsorg, walked over to the console next to his ship. He checked it several times to try to determine what went wrong. Why was the human drop ship not destroyed when he had fired? He had been checking since the mission and still he couldn't find out why his plasma bolts hadn't struck their target. It wasn't piloting error, he had figured that out quickly enough, and he was almost sure that it wasn't his ship. So why had he missed? Finally Kelsorg went to his berth for a rest. They were ordered to destroy the ring but the admiral had decided to try and salvage anything he could before then. He figured that they would be heroes if they came back with new technology. Kelsorg dreamed of the legend. The legend tells of a dangerous beast locked up in the ring. The Humans had released it. The repulsive beast had been barely contained by a Covenant Elite who at the last moment did something to cause the creatures to die. It was considered only a legend by most until the discovery of a tablet that showed a partial location of the dreaded ring. They immediately set out on a quest to destroy the humans that had almost caused the destruction of the universe. After much searching they found the other part of the map on a human planet. The humans were almost gone, but now they had found the thing most feared...Halo. The Prophets had warned everyone about something like this. What if the humans released the beast once again! They had to be stopped. Kelsorg awoke before his subconscious had a chance to ponder the truth of the legend aside from the myths. He heard his name being called. He slid into his armor and walked down the hall to his awaiting banshee. Kelsorg read his briefing on the panel next to it. He was to provide cover for the drop ships going to the Silent Cartographer. There had been heavy fighting there. His first mission to the ring had been a success. He had been assigned to capture the remaining crew on the human ship. He completed his mission with only 2 grunt casualties. Just before he got in, though, he heard an alarm start to ring. His mind pondered what it could be about, but before he finished, the intercom rang out with the chilling message that the humans were attempting to assault his ship. Never before had something like this happened. Then he remembered the human prisoners. One was the captain of the human ship. A jackal hurried past almost running into Kelsorg. Kelsorg called out, "Where are you going in such a hurry, and why did you run in front of me? You know that you shouldn't pass a superior species." " I'm sorry sir, but I have orders to go to the gravity lift and await further commands. I have orders; I wouldn't pass you otherwise. Please believe me." The Jackal whined. "Then be on your way, stupid Jackal. And never cross me again or I will crush you." "Yes sir. Thank you for your generosity sir." the frightened Jackal answered. "Those stupid Jackals need to be taught a lesson, at least the Grunts try to fight." Kelsorg muttered beneath his breath. He headed towards the gravity lift. When he got there he noticed a huge number of troops. At least 60 Grunts and 25 Elites were assembled. A few jackals were scattered about trying to find out what was happening. A pair of hunters lumbered into the room crushing a Jackal under it. The hunter gave a smirk and said something about not seeing it. Slowly, group after group went down. Kelsorg was thinking about going too, but he decided not to. He hadn't been called so why should he go. Besides, he needed to get some work done on his banshee. He had been planning installing an anti-matter bomb underneath. He left the ever-emptying room and walked back to the hanger. The decks were quite now; everyone was trying to find out what was happening. The hanger had a few dozen troops setting up defensive positions. Just in case the Humans got this far, Kelsorg decided to put his Banshee away. He pressed a button and the anti-gravity pods came to life. His ship rose up to where it looked like it would hit the ceiling. Just before it hit, though, a door opened allowing the ascending Banshee to enter. Kelsorg felt his buzzer and reached for it. He was to go to the brig to insure that the prisoners didn't escape. He heard what sounded like gunshots on the lower deck of the hanger. Kelsorg rushed to the brig. He saw with relief that the prisoners were secure in their cells. He called the bridge, no one answered. Kelsorg started to panic. Why wasn't the bridge answering? He turned on his active camouflage and quickly became invisible. The door to the brig opened. He brandished his plasma rifle and turned to face the door. A grunt came running into the room. Kelsorg started to relax. The grunt fell face-first on the ground. Kelsorg saw blue fluid pouring out of several holes in his back. He ran towards the door and found several Humans outside. Some were crouching; others were standing. Only then did he notice him. It was one of the things he had killed on Reach. A Spartan. He crept down the hall away from the brig. He knew he couldn't take them all on. He heard some COM chatter. Something about the bridge crew dead. He couldn't believe it. He charged his over-shield. The Humans had already freed the prisoners and were getting ready to leave. He ran at the Spartan but didn't make it. As he got close, hundreds of bullets found his cloaked form. As he collapsed to the floor he wondered what type of creature could take out the commanding crew of a Covenant cruiser and take out one of the highest-ranking Elites on the ship. Blood flowed from his side. He tried to look but couldn't move his head. He watched the Humans leave before he closed his eyes.
An Elites Legend: part 3

The creatures were loose. He didn't know how he knew it, but he knew. He was in a large room. He saw some shadows moving to his left. He called out a typical Covenant greeting. The shadow moved towards him. He pulled up his plasma sword just incase, though. He heard a voice call out. He couldn't make out what was said. He was about to charge into the shadow when something ran behind him. He reached back with his great reflexes and grabbed onto the shape. In one swift motion he twisted his arm and the thing landed in front of him. His plasma sword came up to head level and was about to ignite when he was stopped. It was his friend. At least he thought it was; why was he squirming about so much. Just as he was about to ask what was going on, his friend transformed before his eyes. His fingers grew and...his friends, they were the creatures. Why were his friends so mutilated? What had happened to them? Kelsorg awoke to a blinding light. He felt a little dazed. "Where am I?" he asked, "What ship am I on?" "You are on the Resolve." A voice disclosed. He'd heard the voice before but couldn't place it. It could've been any of the captains that had followed the Human ship here. Here, where was here? "Which system are we in? Are we home?" Kelsorg implored. "No, we are still above Halo. You were nearly killed when the Humans freed the captives. They escaped on one of your drop ships. Your ship lost most of its command crew. We barely saved you." "Why can't I see? What's wrong with my eyes?" Kelsorg roared. "Sorry about that, I'll fix it," the voice calmly stated. The lighting returned to normal. Kelsorg was shocked to see that the origin of the voice was the admiral of the Covenant strike force. "That any better?" the admiral asked. "Yes sir, much better. Thank you for helping me, sir." Kelsorg managed to stammer. "That's ok, we need every Elite we can get. The strike on the Truth and Reconciliation halted all repairs. On top of that, we lost contact with our exploration party to find the ammunition storeroom. We haven't heard from them in several hours. Our surgeons have healed your wounds. I need you to find out what happened to our missing party. Find them or their remains and report back here." "Yes sir. I'll get on it right away," Kelsorg replied. He hopped off the table and marched down the hall. He picked out his plasma sword, a fully loaded plasma rifle, and 3 grenades. He also picked up an over-shield. Kelsorg walked into the hanger of the large ship and was surprised to see the hundreds of vehicles, from ghosts to banshees; there was every type of ship. Grunts ran about reloading a wraith. He walked to the bottom level and picked out a small but heavily armored banshee. After examining it he got in and lifted off. The view was beautiful. The sun was just rising and he was in the upper atmosphere. He glided down until he was 30,000 meters above the swamp. The sun was now fully in view and Kelsorg turned to note that the Resolve was only a large speck in the sky. Kelsorg touched down only a few dozen meters from the entrance to the building. The swamp was lovely. It had rained in the night and the leaves were glistening with droplets of water. There was a veil of mist over the swamp and the sun shone through highlighting certain places. As he entered the foreboding structure he found traces of dark blood near the doors. It was Human. The humans had been here. He readied his plasma sword and started charging his over-shield. He stared down the hallway into the darkness. It looked threatening compared to the peaceful swamp outside. He thought the walls looked familiar but dismissed it as just a feeling. The sunlight disappeared, as he got farther in. His heart started beating faster. He made his way into the heart of the building. The signs of battle were everywhere. He could see plasma scars on the walls, but there were still no bodies. He entered a large room and looked around. He perceived a slight amount of movement in a doorway. He ducked behind a crate just incase whatever it was could see him in the darkness. He slowly lifted his head and peeked over his crate. It was a Jackal. It was bleeding profoundly and was softly moaning. Kelsorg picked himself up and walked over to it. "What happened here?" Kelsorg hoarsely whispered. "Ambushed by Humans...and things," the jackal struggled to say. "They killed us... they killed us all. We... didn't stand...a chance." "What do you mean by 'things'?" Kelsorg inquired. "Lots of... things. Attacked us...invaded our bodies." The jackal grabbed the Elites armor, "Get out...of here...NOW!" the Jackal fell to the floor. A noise rang out behind him. Only then did Kelsorg remember his dream. He broke out in a cold sweat, he ran back up to the surface. He looked back into the darkness. He barely made out a whitish green figure chasing him. He fired several plasma shots into the things torso. The creature bent over for a second, but kept up the chase. There were many of them now. Some looked vaguely like an Elite and some almost like Humans. He chucked a plasma grenade behind and heard a blast a few seconds later. Kelsorg was out of breath now and the creatures kept coming. Just as he thought he would collapse he saw the end of the tunnel. Daylight. This time the swamp didn't look beautiful; it looked like an immortal beast ready to devour him. He dashed to his banshee and jumped in. "The creatures, it was us. We released them!" he stammered. He fired up the anti-gravity pods and flew away. He looked back and saw hundreds of white blurs pouring out of the entrance of the building. Thousands of plasma bolts streaked for his tiny ship. A few rockets flew past as well. As he made it up into the atmosphere he thought about the Legend...the Legend of the Beast. Would an Elite come to save the universe once again? Back at his ship he tried to describe what he saw to the Admiral. "The beasts, it was us. We released them. I killed a few, but it seemed like there were millions," Kelsorg explained. The admiral just nodded his head as if he understood everything being said. "You act like you already know... and what I'm telling you isn't surprising," Kelsorg angrily roared. "The fact is that after you left, we got a report that the Truth and Reconciliation has been taken over by these creatures. They are trying to repair your ship. We think they may be trying to escape. I've already dispatched a team to retake the ship," the admiral calmly explained. "Then why do you need me?" Kelsorg questioned. "The Human ship is also being repaired by these creatures. I need you to take a team over to annihilate that ship. You can have your choice of crew. Take whomever you need. Also, we've found out that the Human is still alive, the one that nearly killed you on the Truth and Reconciliation. He was found earlier today on the your ship," the admiral explained. Kelsorg thought it over. It would seem like a suicide mission, if not for the Spartan. All Kelsorg could think about was revenge. "I'll get right on it." Kelsorg announced. As he walked down the hall he pondered what to do to the Spartan. He walked into the ready room. "I need 120 good soldiers, preferably special ops units. Units started pouring into the room. A hologram popped up showing the interior of the Human ship. "We will enter here." He said, pointing to the escape pod launchers. "I want spec ops Grunts scattered around this spot," as he pointed at the bridge. "Sir, I don't understand what our mission is about, sir." A grunt exclaimed. "We are to insure that the beast doesn't escape using this ship. We must get to engineering to destroy the primitive fusion reactors here," Kelsorg pointed to the large room on the screen. It was almost like a maze to him. "Does that answer your question, Grunt?" "Yes sir. I hear that these beasts are hard to kill and can take over our own bodies. What's to prevent that from happening? I don't want to be like one of those creatures." The hologram changed to show a picture taken by Kelsorg on the mission to find the doomed party. "This is a picture I took of the beast. It infects the host and transforms them into this." The hologram changed into a close-up picture of a creature. It took a few second for the soldiers to realize what they were looking at. "It...it almost looks familiar. Like and Elite." A Jackal managed to stammer. "It was. The beast altered it. I don't know how they do it, or what does it, but you must stay away from them. They will take and kill you. Then turn you into these." Kelsorg retorted. They walked into the armory station next door and started getting ready. Kelsorg grabbed several active camouflages and a few over-shields. His plasma sword hung loosely at his waist and in his hand he brandished a plasma rifle. He looked around the room. Hundreds of Covenant fighters were getting ready to fight an unknown enemy on an alien ship. He could feel the warriors getting prepared to fight whatever might come near them. When they were ready he marched them to the drop ships. Suddenly a voice called out, "Wait, I need to tell you something." Kelsorg turned to see who had interrupted his mission. It was a runner, a lowly Jackal whose sole purpose was to run errands for the higher-ranking crew. "What do you want? I'm about to leave for a mission." Kelsorg retorted. "The admiral wanted me to tell you that the Human is heading for his ship. He thinks that the Human may try to escape. We also detected a human drop ship. We are moving to intercept it." The runner said between breaths. Kelsorg muttered a word of thanks and started walking towards his transport. "So, the Human was going to be on the same ship as me," Kelsorg thought, "This could prove fun." He boarded the ship that would take them all to the brink of death, and for some of them, over. (Tell me what you thought. I hope you like it. Tell me if there were any inconsistencies or anything. If people want it, I'll redo number 1. After I finish this series I will finish one I made several months ago. It was about an ODST on the Pillar. I'll explain more when I post it. The thing is, an airport x-ray machine erased it. I need to rewrite half of it and edit out the nonsense. Once again tell me what you think. Neco out.)
