Alternate Realities -Prologue-
Date: 25 June 2004, 10:04 PM
Authors Note: just wanted to give a brief idea of this background for the story. The Abrupt cut off of the data stream is there for a reason and will appear later on in the story, Otherwise i hope you guys like it, and if you do find some problems please post them in the comments, they'll be appreciated greatly to improve my writing.
-Enjoy
On the outer edges of the Outer Colonies of Earth's fledgin empire remained a planet, different from any other encountered. The star system it self was a puzzlement to human science. Many ships have passed that region only to make a quick jump out of that area for what they see. Through the data collected by one Science vessel are these the facts of the Planet that has been named Omega Zion VIII. Others refer to it as Sanctuary.
November 25, 2658 Outer Colony Region - Planet Omega Zion VIII Planetary Discription and other data collected
Data Gathered: Planet: 78% Nitrogen 22% Oxygen Earth related atmopshere with unknown composition of rings Eminating radiation and Neutrinos of high levels 8 Class 4 Type Moons containing massive deposits of Titanium and Tungsten Ore Binary Star System with two Class 2 Stars in midphases of their lives.
Phenomenons Detected Surrounding the System: Class 2 Black Hole roughly seven hundred billion kilometers from the outer edje of the system. Twelve Gaseos Nebulae surround the system creating a sensor block. Disappearence and Appearance of Human and Alien Ships also found phasing in and out of this Dimension

Aboard Soverign Class Cruiser- U.N.C.S Remora April 15, 2662 Outer Colony Region - Colonized Planet Sanctuary Status - Under Covenant Attack
The ship reverberated as a MAC round was fired towards the targeted cruiser. The first out of 1750 ships that had jumped into this system. Thankful that this ship had a great captain with brilliant tactical ideas and the defense system of this planet. 5 years ago this system was desolate but 3 years ago the UNCS government had decided to colonize this planet and make it a second Fortress World such as Reach, but this time it would not be allowed to fall to the Covenant.
"Luitenant Haverson, whats the status of our MAC gun?"called out the captain.
"MAC capacitors are charged at 36% sir! A richocet archer missile impacted second ago near our MAC gun damaging a Super-conducting magnet dispersing some of our charged energy.
Captain Mathew Preston thought for a moment before coming up with a tactical solution to the situation. He called out to the ship's AI "Perry, get me a firing solution to all starboard Archer Missle Pods and lock onto the nearest Cruiser, then allocate any two other Covenant Ships of any kind nearing the size of the cruiser or larger and lock onto them aswell. Once you have completed that create a full spread formation for the missiles and Perry" said the captain. "Yes captain" said the AI. "Warm up the Photon Torpedoes and the launchers, lets give the Covenant a taste of their own bitter medicine!". "Aye Sir".
"Sir the MAC capacitors are charged to 93% awaiting your command to open fire" replied Luitenant Haverson.
The Captain waited and looked at his Holographic display screen and watched as 2113 other remaining human ships fired upon the advancing Covenant ship. Just before he gave the order he saw a few hundred more ships jump into the system, all of them Covenant.
"Fire the MAC and the Photon Torpedoes!" replied the captain with cold hatred of the Covenant.
As a six hundred ton depleted Uranium projectile left the MAC barrel of the ship. Following that 50 other six thousand ton depleted Uranium Super-MAC rounds sped past the Remora.
"About damn time they got those up and running" the captain murmered to himself.
As the combined mass of over 2164 MAC rounds impacted upon the Covenant ships, out of the 1750 and rising ships 400 fell upon the barage of MAC and Super-MAC rounds. At that moment 6 yellow orbs left the Remora speeding their way towards any of the remaining super carriers, cruisers and frigates left in the Covenant Fleet. Upon impact, the torpedoes detonated releasing their Anti-Matter payload upon the shields of the ships. When the anti-matter came in contact they equalled themselves out with an explosive manner. The Covenant Shields flared and then subsided as another torpedo impacted the weakened shield and took it down. The final 4 four torpedoes impacted the, bridge, and engineering. Destroying those area immediately and instantly in a brilliant flash of blue and white light.
Four Hours Ago April 15, 2662 Outer Colony Region - Colonized Planet Sanctuary
Aboard Sensor Station - Autumn
Private Archer was looking at his screen and then at the holographic display of the Planet Sanctuary. His Familiy Lived there including a population of three billion on the planet itself and atleast one to three billion for each of the 8 moons that had become Titanium/Tungsten Resource Area's where the ore was bieng mined and converted into whatever required, bullets armor, battle plates, and some moons even had a Super MAC/MAC facility which created the rounds for the MAC and Super MAC cannons, for the ships gaurding this planet and Earth. With this new resource found the security around Earth had become much tighter. Earth now had over a hundred Super MAC Orbital Battle Platforms protecting it and a massive fleet of over five thousand ships.
Suddenly his station started to beep, for an incoming mass through slipspace. He checked and rechecked his calculations. Then as he looked at the mass his jaw dropped. Six hundred and fifty trillion metric tonnes. In his mind over and over he thought there is no possible way for a mass of this size to travel through slipspace unless it was...
"Colonel we have massive incoming a covenant fleet of unknown proportion, I'm guessing over two thousand ships." replied the private.
"Alright folks get everything up to battle readiness now, all weapons online. Also send a call to all ground forces to be ready to repell an invasion, send a signal to the fleet to tell them to be ready. Finally send a signal to the Fusion Generators of the Super MAC and tell them to scrap everything and bring them online, this is going to be one hellava fight!"
"Private, what is the closest ship near the exit point of the Covenant Fleet?" said the Colonel.
"Its the Remora sir." replied the private after a brief glance at his fleet chart placement on his holo-display.
"Hail them and tell them to get the fuck! out of there" said Colonel Jenkins.
"Aye sir, the message has been sent"
Aboard Soverign Class Cruiser- U.N.C.S Remora April 15, 2662 Outer Colony Region - Colonized Planet Sanctuary Status - Under Covenant Attack
Luitenant Haverson cried out "Sir aft sensors are detecting two slipspace exits!. Scannning, aft sensors now have a visual of oh my god!. Two Super Carriers fifty thousand kilometers from Sanctuary's orbit".
The captain thought over another quick plan over this situation, then called out to his communications officer and said "Get me in touch with 4 of the Super MAC platforms near the carriers and ask them to target those carriers and fire at will regardless at what distance, no covenant should get past to hurt or kill any innocent human living on the planet".
A Plasma torpedo impacted the starboard hull of the Remora, burning through 2 meters of Titanium-A battle Armor. The ship shook viloently as more and more ships appeared into this system. Four more cruisers moved towards the Remora and opened fire releasing a volley of Plasma before the ship could be consumed in the hail of plasma, a ship of unknown origin appeared in front of the Remora. Leaving a trail of ions. The plasma impacted the vessel and its shields flared tremendously but held. The Vessel of unknown origin was no bigger than the Remora, but through what the captain aboard saw, was stronger many times more. The Ship turned towards the five covenant cruisers that had fired upon it. It launched five white colored orbs at the five ships. Upon impact each orb or what appeared to be or assumed to be a torpedo, passed through the shielded layers of the cruiser. Upon impact it released its deadly payload and within second the cruiser was envoloped in a flash of blinding white light. As the light faded there was nothing left but 5 torn hunks of what were before this incident 5 majectic cruisers part of the deadly covenant fleet.
just as the battle between the five cruisers and the alien ship ended it slowly moved away upon its engines and then disappeared from sensors even though the ship was still within the maximum sensor range of all ships, and stations. The Covenant believing that it was the infidels that had did this, sent in more and more ships. The ship count on each side was dropping, so far of the seventeen-fifty ships though more and more ships came in, their fleet was decimated and had been brought down to three hundred ships, however the human side had taken tremedous losses. Of the twenty two hundred ships only five hundred remained, however thankful to the sacrifices of other ships and Mobile Repair ships the Super-MAC platforms, all fifty of them stood without much damage or very minimal damage. Finally with the amount of carnage seen by the Covenant fleet, all other ships started to fall back with a quick jump out of the system.
This had been a victory at a great cost of human life against the covenant. Humanity had lost seventeen hundred ships. A striking blow to human morale, but this victory kept the human morale above the signs of a hopeless war. As the surving ships returned for repair and refit, the Remora did so too. After making one last pass over the wreckage of the Covenant fleet in search of stragglers and if within its battle capacity to eliminate the threats. After a full sensor sweep to gather any other exceptional data regarding the mysterious ship, the Remora turned around and prepared for an Intra-system jump to get back to Sanctuary as fast as possible.
"Sir the slipspace capacitors are at 100%, awaiting your order to jump" said Ensign Weaving.
"I didn't order anyone to charge up the slipspace generators" said the captain with a certain smile.
"Well anyways since they are charged set a course for home" and then the captain relaxed.
The Remora jumped into slipspace and at that moment a reactor near the slipspace entrance exploded and severly distorted the slipspace field. The Remora entered the alternate dimension and disappeared from normal space never to be seen again...
to be continued...
Alternate Realities - Remora
Date: 27 June 2004, 4:59 PM
Aboard Sovereign Class Cruiser- U.N.C.S Remora April 15, 2662 Slipspace Exit Omega Zion System UNCS Territory
The captain was thrown out of his chair as the ship shook violently and was torn out of slipspace. " Damage report!" screamed out the captain as he slowly got up using the holo display for support.
" A neutrino spike in the core reactors. They are still operational. Fires in engineering now being put out, and slipspace drive is offline for the moment" Ensign Tucker called out over the chatter of other bridge officers.
The captain thought over the situation again and looked at the data he received at his holo-display panel. Then after taking a quick glimpse at the data packet he looked at the re-enforced glass that kept the atmosphere inside from the cold vacuum of space. Through the window he saw a Class 5 Type star, it looked more like a Super Giant. He always wondered why they were named in such a way. Finally after much debating over a tactical situation playing over and over in his head he called out to his C.E.O or Chief Engineering Officer.
" Lieutenant, do we have any spunk left in the ships engines to get us moving to any planetary body close by?"
As the CEO was about to reply, the science officer cut in " Sir!, sensors detect two Covenant cruiser roughly three million kilometers and closing in fast".
"Alright, this is how its going to be done now, I want this ship brought up to Command Alert, load up every last Archer missile pod, charge up the MAC capacitors and get me a targeting solution for each of the incoming cruisers." called out the captain, and as a chords in harmony and in sync and tune the bridge crew replied with action and little talk.
As the Covenant cruisers came within five hundred thousand kilometers. They hailed the Remora, confusion sprinkled above the human ship. The Captain of the Remora accepted the hail, but had given the order before the transmition was set up to keep the weapons locked onto the two cruisers.
" This is the cruiser Truth of Glory, we saw your ship jump out of a slipspace exit that appeared to be disrupted by an common amount of neutrino's that appeared to be from a covenant reactor. Do you require some assistance, this is dangerous space i suggest that you allow us to tow your ship using both of our gravity lifts to create a form of a tractor link to hold your ship as we enter slipspace".
It took a moment to address the situation the captain was shocked to hear, the Covenant had actually suggested that they would help him. He had no idea what had occurred from the slipspace jump. The Omega Zion system or the planet Sanctuary it self had disappeared from the location the ship was to re-enter in. He did not have a choice in this case but to comply, one Sovereign class cruiser would not boast a chance against two Covenant Plasma armed cruisers, even with the newest addition of photon torpedoes.
" This Captain Mathew Preston of the UNCS Remora, I am thankful for your help and will allow you to do continue with your actions". With that he ended the transmition and looked into the eyes of the bridge crew, each of the crewmen were filled with fear. But he knew they would pull through unless these friendly or appearing to be friendly covenant shoot them out of the fucking sky, he muttered to himself.
Aboard Sovereign Class Cruiser- U.N.C.S Remora April 15, 2662 Location - Earth UNCS/Covenant Territory He cancelled the firing solution for the Archer missile pods, but kept the MAC hot and filled with power incase of they turned on him and to do some tremendous damage to at least one cruiser before his ship would go down. The Covenant attached their gravity lifts to the cruiser and increased power to them creating a tractor link. Then extending their shields around the critically impaired UNCS cruiser, together they jumped into slipspace. Three hours later they dropped out of Slipspace to the most amazing site the bridge crew had ever seen about earth. Covering almost the entire surrounding space were Super-MAC and Plasma Battery Platforms.
Also the moon didn't appear to be a colony anymore, but a massive space platform. Many ships were entering and departing the moon's entrance. The following cruiser broke of the lead cruiser tractoring the Remora. The Truth of Glory entered the moon inside opened up to a massive repair and refit station holding at least 15 UNCS ships and at least 8 Covenant Ships. Two tugs appeared and took the Remora to dock with a repair station. The airlocks cycled and pressurized. The captain made his way down to the airlocks with a handful of marines armed with M9 Shotguns.
Finally it opened and two Covenant Engineers, one Covenant Elite and 6 Human Technicians walked into the handful of marines pointing shotguns at them. The party stared at them for a few second before one of the technicians finally responded to the silence.
" Whoa there, you might want to put that away. I thought we were here to fix your engines not be pushed back against a wall with weapons trained on us".
The tech looked at his data pad then scrolled down the UNCS ship manifest and looked through the R section, after a few minutes of searching he did not find the ship name Remora, nor did he find the particular Class cruiser.
" Sir or captain, i would like to talk to have a word with you in private if you have time available, i would like to discuss some issues regarding your ship" said the tech.
"Alright, marines lower your weapons and escort our friends here down to engineering and let them deal with the mumbo jumbo in engineering. Also get our CEO down in engineering and lend the tech a hand." said the captain calmly, and then went with the lead tech to his private quarters.
They both entered the quarters, and the captain upholstered his M6D pistol and calmly set it on the table, after that he poured himself a drink and then directed his attention to the tech who was about to discuss some matters with him.
"Sir, i have double checked through our entire UNCS fleet manifest and i have not been able to match any ship or class of ship that regards to your ship name and particular design" said the tech.
Just as the tech was about to say another thing, the ship and the moon itself reverberated. He knew that vibration was the firing of Super-MAC's and that could only mean one thing, battle. He looked at the tech then got up picked up his pistol, downed his drink and asked the most direct question he knew.
" Who the hell is attacking us?" said captain Preston.
The tech in confusion eyed the captain then in his most calmly manner he replied what the captain didn't know about.
" The race known as the Xantari are attacking us and we need to get back in space to drive them of. Long after the human-covenant war ended, human and covenant relations became more peaceful. A decade later one of our science ships and one of their cruisers were on a survey mission" said the tech and took a breath before continuing on.
" they came across another ship that they had not encountered before, they hailed them and came to know that race as the Xantari, shortly after that both ships were scanned, and then hailed again. As both ships responded the commander of the vessel of the Xantari said that they were lesser life-forms not worthy of living in this galaxy. With that they opened fire upon the Covenant cruiser, the Ship Master of the covenant cruiser hailed our ship, and told them to leave this area via slipspace immediately, and that hey would hold them off as long as possible. With that the science vessel jumped and never saw the cruiser that had stayed behind to make sure this new Intel got back to High Com" catching his breath again, the tech replied.
By this time the captain had arrived at the bridge and had been surprised to see his ship out of the moon dock and into the area of the ready fleet. He saw the Covenant and Human ships lined up side by side, while the covenant ships protected the Super-MAC and plasma batteries with their shields, the human ships would attack with their own MAC cannons. He had no idea what channel was the Covenant/Human fleet on so, he decided to keep it that way for this battle and moved his ship towards the intended target. A small fleet of 115 Xantari ships were moving forward towards the massive fleet of over two thousand, human/covenant ships. He had never seen a Xantari ship nor knew its capability, until he saw a Super-MAC round strike, what appeared to be a Xantari cruiser, watched its shields flare and still held. Then he watched as a Second Super-MAC round impacted, but yet the shields still held. The final round impacted and broke through its shields tearing a hole in the cruiser, but yet it still kept coming.
As the captain prepared to lock onto the damaged Xantari cruiser, the ship reverberated violently as he flew from his command chair and onto the deck. Within seconds he blacked out as the ship lurched once more. The captain got up slowly touching his forehead, and he felt a wet substance on his hands. As he looked at them they were red, "dammit!" he muttered to himself once more.
" Luitenant Haverson get a lock on the nearest Xantari ship, prepare a firing solution for the Archer Missile pods. Take the safeties of one of our Shiva Nuclear Warheads and prepare to remote launch it" replied the captain now getting a copper taste in his mouth.
The Luitenant complied and prepared each action without flaw, when he was finally ready for the next set of orders he turned around and nodded. The captain acknowledging his nod turned towards his COM. He opened a channel to engineering and told his CEO to scrap whatever he was doing and crank up the reactors, go beyond red-line if he has to. In front of him stood a threat and that threat needed to be neutralized.
"Luitenant" he paused "Fire at will!" said captain Preston.
He watched as 60 archer missiles raced away from his ship and towards the Xantari cruiser, followed by a MAC round and then in the remote distance as he squinted a little he saw the remotely operated Pelican carrying the Nuclear Warhead "perfect" he whispered. The missiles' impacted upon the shields of the cruiser with little effect but it did create a distraction, following up that an MAC round hit the shields again, causing them to flare but still hold. As he called up the the camera that was focused on the Pelican he saw it just had came near three enemy ships. He brought up the detonation key and pressed it. Within seconds the three ships were envoloped into a massive white light, which followed by a minor shockwave that shuddered the allied ships. As the light started to fade, hunks of unknown metal and slagged parts of the ships appeared. But out of he three only one remained and it appeared severely crippled.
A cheer of victory appeared all over the bridge, the captain himself managed a smile. As that happened thousands of archer missiles, and plasma torpedoes raced away in front of the Remora and impacted against the Xantari ships. As that happened the Plasma Batteries and Super-MAC battle platforms also opened fire. With a barrage of so much fire-power the Xantari ships stood little chance. But however before the battle was over the Xantari ships themselves launched a volley of bluish-white torpedoes, three from each ships a total of three hundred and fourty-five torpedoes impacted against ships and orbital platforms. The torpedoes phased through the allied ships and stations and envoloped them in their deadly payload instantly vaporizing everything and leaving massive molten slags of armor and structure. The battle had ended with the loss of three hundred and thirty ships and the loss of fifteen orbital platforms.
Please put as much helpful criticism into the comments as you can, I hope i did better than the previous, if i didn't please tell me so, and what i need to work on. Next part will be posted hopefully in a few days.
Alternate Realities - An Army of Two
Date: 1 July 2004, 10:41 PM
Location Earth April 16, 2662 Continent North America Central Montana - Reactor Complex
A squad of marines moved up towards the looming fortress armed to the teeth with cannons, machine guns and missile batteries. Aprroximately a few hours ago, thanks to the unknown new ship known as the Remora, had detected Xantari Carriers that appeared to be dropping off ground forces. Marines on the planets were already ready, to repell them. Thanks to the Covenant/Human alliance all ground forces had gotten an upgrade. All soldiers carried battle armor each with a minimal defence of a shield system. Overshield charges were handed out to each soldier during the times of critical missions. Especially this one, the protection of the ground base fusion reactors powering up the Super-MAC orbital platforms and their shields. The Sargent took cover near some rocks and pulled out his sniper rifle and scanned the complex. Xantari forces stood outside patrolling the area. Each guarded was armed with a particle cannon, one shot was an instant vaporization ticket. "Shit, Lopez move up and into the tree's set up your sniping equipment, quickly and quitely as possible" replied Sargent Hayes in a calm voice.
Sweat trickled down his brow, and grasped his suit, the pirspiration absorbing fabric absorbed it. As he continued to look at the Xantari forces, Lopez moved into the three, as he climbed he made little sound as he stepped on the last branch to get up into the tree where he had set up his equipment, it snapped drawing the attention of the patrols. The guards turned their attention to the tree. Lopez scrambled up into it and stayed rigid without motion. After a few minutes of complete silence the guards went back to their duty. The Sarge's COM chirped inside his helmet, and it startled him. But he gained control of himself and answered it.
"This is the Covenant High Guard, we are currently 3 kilometers east of your position, we will arrive within 8 units or 8 of your human minutes" replied the Squad leader.
"Roger that, we will wait till you have neared the base and then open fire, snipers only" whispered the sargent.
As the time ticked on by the marines got their weapons ready, the sarge one last time looked east with his Sniper rifle, and saw a siloutte of camouflage figures moving across the field towards the unsuspecting Xantari forces. Three hollow figures moved behind the Xantari guards, and then three plasma swords ignited and they attacked digging into the Ablative armor dispersing some of the plasma, weapons fire ignited as well, most of them missing not able to clearly see the Elite warriors beside the Plasma swords. Then just as clearly, projectile weapons fire added to the comotion. The upgraded 14.2mm armor piercing rounds were now the 14.2mm, armor piercing, high-velocity, explosive rounds. Doing even more damage than before.
The rounds finally tore through the armor, entering the skulls and exploding through the back sending bits of blood, flesh, and brain spewing through the gaping hole. As the Xantari guards lay dead upon the ground rusted copper green blood escaped their mortal wounds. The Marines then moved up towards the Covenant keeping their weapons trained upon the entrance to the fusion reactor complex. As the combined group moved in they sensed terror as well as silence. They finall reached the Gate Room that controlled the action to the secondary three meter thick Titanium-A door that lead to the reactor core. Inside the control room lay bodies everywhere. A putrid smell hung around the stations and bodies. Most stations were covered in red blood, now coagulated. Through each of the marines eyes they could not believe what the saw. The bodies were not even bodies, most of them were disected corpses, some missing a heart a few missing other organs. As if this was not terrifying enough. The way they were dissected was even more gruesome. They were literally ripped open.
Private Herbert puked instantly as he had entered the room. Thankfully as the squad arrived near the reactor itself there was fresh air there to breath. But the trail of coagulated blood followed from the control room to the core. The Sarge and the Elite Juka Rulnamee assesed the situation and then split their squad. Half of the Jackals and a few of the Grunts would go with the human squad and The Sargent and the rest of the squad would go with two other Veteran Elites, a handful of Jackals and six other Grunts. As it turned out Private Herbert, Private Anderson, and Private Sullivan would go with the Grunts, the Jackals, and Juka Rulnamee. They were to go upstairs and check for survivors. The others were to search this reactor complex for any survivors and then find the control room for the reactors and hold it until the other squad arrived.
Pvt. Herbert unloaded a half spent clip and stored it, then reloaded a fresh clip and drove it home. After thumping the safety off and the hammer. He was ready for anything or atleast almost anything after what he had seen. The squad had moved upstairs and had found most of the turrets slagged or alot of them missing with radiational residue. Finally through all the search they found a survivor, but he was terrified and almost dead, most of his limbs were missing and he had lost a lot of blood. Private Herbert seeing such pain in the mans eyes, drew his pistol cocked back the hammer allowing a round to slide into the barrel. Then placing his hands over the man's chest he whispered a small prayer to god. Soon after he pointed the pistol to the man's head and pulled the trigger. He released the empty shell from the barrel and calmly placed the pistol back into his holster.
As the mercy killing passed away he the thoughts still resided within Sam's head, why would they do such a thing. What had we, or even the Covenant done to them for them to such gruesome acts. Why!, why why why!. Like a hammer hitting the gong it kept on banging in his head. Just as they were about to head downstairs their COM's chirped again "Sam!, this is Hayes, we came in contact with another Xantari force. But this one is ten times stronger, we've taken severe losses. Now its only me and the two Elites left. We are doing the best to hold them back, you need to get the fuck out of here now!" he said of the COM. It filled with static before it became clearer again "Oh shit what was...oh my god, fall back fall back....roaurrrrrr...oh no, no please no, get back ::brrrrt:: ::brrrt::...fuck no, no AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" the COM died with that. The surving squad remained waiting for a response anything, their eyes were filled with fear.
The squad came over their fears and then Sam went over to the Gold Elite and started had a quick talk. Then came back, "as of now, i'm taking command of the remaining marine forces. All of you prepare yourselves for a fight of your lives. Prepare grenades and reload your weapons, we as of now have decided that whatever mission was at the begining has been scrapped. Our main priority is now to move out and get as safely possible away from this complex as possible, then call for Evac and go back to regroup and strike again" said Sam. The two other Marines and the rest of the Covenant forces prepared their gear as well.
The squad moved out and moved towards the exit, as they came near their motion tracker picked up many red blips. Enemy ahead prepare two fragmentation and two plasma grenades on the count of three throw them in the area ahead. 1...2...3...Now! Four grenades gracefully sailed through the air and landed a few feet from the emeny. Three seconds later they detonated in a flash of yellow and blue, 3600 rads of radiation eminated from the plasma grenades three of the Xantari forces dropped dead instantly their body unable to take a dosage of that amount. The fragmentation grenades however were the better part of the attack, not only did the explosion damage their weapons and armor, the shrapnel impaled many of them instantly also killing them. After the detonations only four remained, the squad moved up ahead quickly and opened fire. As a hail of plasma and projectiles impacted the Xantari, the intricate inter-phase particle weapons also fired. Four shots in total all succesful envoloped the remaining Jackals, one Marine, and two Grunts. The plasma melted through the remaining layers of armor and vaporized any amount of flesh it came in contact with.
Inconvceivable screams were heard from the dying Xantari. "Serves you right for killing my friends, you fucked up piece of shit" whispered Sam, so that no-one could hear but himself. Finally, he moved forward and picked up three Xantari weapons, he clipped one to his belt, threw the second to the Juka, and the third to Sullivan. They moved forward and noticed that the Grunt was missing, with the clatter of footsteps coming through the interior they decided to leave the Grunt, wherever he/she was. They ran, for cover and for their lives. A few minutes later they came to a stream, and took a minute to rest. They refreshed themselves with a little water and then looked over their byzantine weapon. Sullivan stood six meters from Sam and Juka, he scanned the area for anything they could use for shelter or a defensive area.
Sam watched as his friend turned every now and then to scan the region, just as he was about to call him back to talk over Juka's and his plan, his head exploded in a shower or skull fragments and blood mist. "Shit, sniper!" screamed Juka and Sam, they quickly made their way behind the rocks and held steady there. Sam drew out his M6D pistol with his custom made 8x scope, and looked through it. He saw the sniper stationed fifty meters north and twenty five meters high above their position in the Complex. He pulled the trigger twice and watched as the clips ammo counter dropped to nine bullets. Soon the rounds impacted squarely between the snipers eyes, and penetrating his skull. Green gore sprayed the wall. Finally satisfied that they were safe from the sniper, they slowly got up and ran away and as fast as their legs could carry them. They would not return to this place again untill they had better weapons and more forces.
Deep in the far reaches of Space, a new ship appeared with weird configurations. Shields highly regenerative and powerful weaponry. It slowly moved towards the SOL system. It prepared its engines, and then a slispace gateway opened up bluish energy flicked and dissipated as the light intesified. The ship warped into the gateway as it closed and disappeared from sight. Just as that had a occured a few minutes later a Xantari cruiser decloaked from its hollow field, and then jumped using their inter-phasic drive to their homeworld reporting with the data gathered on this new ship. As the data was transfered to the High council, they talked finally signifying that this ship was a high threat and would be a set back to their plans. The council gave the order to prepare six cruisers and attack and destroy this new ship. Even if it meant killing their own with stray weapons fire against this ship.
The elaborate ship reappeared at the edges of the SOL system and went into cloaking and then on normal power moved towards Earth, at the given speed it would take roughly a week to reach Earth. More than enough time to prepare its defenses and weaponry against the Xantari. As it passed a UNCS/Covenant probe before the cloak was fully formed around the ship the name read Remora
I was thinking about writing this one about the ODST, but i decided to change that thought for i'm not to familiar with the ODST and after reading a few of his fanfictions i couldn't still thoroughly grasp how to display an ODST. Anyways, i thank you all for reading this and the next part of the Story will be posted soon

Above Earth Station-keeping orbit Aboard Micro-Mobile Super-MAC Orbital Platform April 17, 2662
Red lights, and klaxon alarms sounded and flashed. Crews scurried and hustled around the station to get it back up to normal functionality. From the outside look, the armor was scarred black, parts of it slagged from surrounding explosions from the previous battle. The cannon itself was surrounded by technicians replacing battle plates and proper coolant systems needed to keep the cannon from turning into a molten slag from each shot fired. Super Magnetic capacitors were bieng replaced and circitry bieng rerouted from damaged areas to functional areas.
The Corporal at the station overlooking the repairs walked around trying to grasp the situation and was overlooking a Scanning station or sensory station and noticed a small blip appear and disappear on its display. He quickly called a nearby tech and asked him to check it out and to see whether it was malfuntioning or there was something out there. After rechecking calculations many times over, the tech finally replied.
"Sir, there is something out there and according to sensors and the slight amount of info we are getting from it, its pretty big".
"Alright contact that new ship that seems to be the luck of this fleet, since it seems that ship what's its name..." said the Corporal.
"The Remora sir" said the nervous tech.
"Yes that seems to be the ship, locate it, hail it and send it to investigate with two other cruisers just incase its hostile" he finished.
"Aye sir, her captain has aquired the message, and also message has been recieved by the admiral. His ship the Arizona and another frigate the Eden are tagging along with the Remora to see whats going on" the tech said, sounding a bit excited.
Out over space, three battle charred cruisers moved towards the intended area where the sensor blips were coming from. The Remora having taken more damage than the other two ships fell behind as the captain taxed her engines to keep up. After the admiral realizing the situation, he gave the order for the other ship to move ahead and keep on scanning. As that order was confirmed, he slowed his own ship to the pace of the Remora. As he looked at the ship from his side camera feed, it was amazing how such a ship far less armored had survived such a tremendous battle and hadn't fallen apart yet.
Soon the three ships came to a full stop at the sensor blip coordinates. As the engines died or were brought to station-keeping. The sensor blip disappeared and then the Remora recieved a transmition.
"This is Captain Thomas Turner of the U.S.S. Remora identify yourself" and the message ended.
Captain Preston after opening a channel to the mysterious message stood up. He then signaled his communications officer to open a channel to the other two ships, after getting a thumb's up signal as a channel open, the captain spoke.
"This is Captain Preston of the UNCS Remora, its a surprise to know that our ships seem to have the same name. If you wish we can transfer over to your ship to have a peaceful talk about who you are and what is it that your doing here. And if so, then whether you require assistance" finished the captain.
"Another message coming in captain" replied the communications officer.
The captain nodded a thank you to the officer and signaled her to recieve the message.
"That won't be necessary captain, we shall actually accomodate you instead of having a shuttle to ship transfer. Please prepare yourselves for a slight gravity change. Thankyou for your cooperation captain, i hope to have a chat with you personally" and the message ended instantly.
From the windows in front of the captain he saw space unfold as a ship decloaked, but what he hoped for a small ship didn't turn out well. When it finished decloaking , it summed up to be very big, then a bay opened in front of the ship and the new ship envoloped all three cruisers and then cloaked. Causing the three UNCS ships to disappear from the eyes of the remaining fleet and from sensors itself.
Inside the massive ship docking clamps, attached themselves to the three ships and gangplanks were extended to airlock hatches. Once the airlock was cycled it was opened to the interior of the ship. Four figures waited outside, three carrying particle rifles and the fourth in a prestigious captain uniform. As captain Preston imerged from his damaged ship he saw the man he had talked to earlier or he believed it was the man he had talked to earlier.
"Welcome Captain Preston, I am Thomas Turned, as you know captain of this ship. I am welcome to have you, and as i can see your and your fellow captain's ships require extensive repairs. My crews will get right on it, as for now follow me we have much to talk about" he finished and then walked towards a set of doors. The Admiral Haycore, Captain Preston, and Captain McHenry followed suite.
Turner, Preston, McHenry and Haycore entered a room, the guards waited outside. Once inside the four men started to have a quite a long discussion of the given situation and the necessary changes that would be required of the fleet.
Location Earth April 17, 2662 Continent North America Central Montana - 5 Kilometers from Reactor Complex
Private Sam Herbert and Zuka Rulnamee ran as fast as both their legs could carry them. A few thousand meters behind them. The Xantari battle group followed, hunting their prey. The two of them knowing that they couldn't run forever, turned towards the rocky hills to their west. Following the calm river they came across a series of caves. Knowing that the Xantari, would come after them regardless, they moved into the caves. As darkness grew more, Sam activated the flashlight on his assualt rifle. Checking the battery charge, it read 56%. It would have to do for now, both of them moved forward, Zuka covering his six, and Sam covering their twelve.
Soon they came to a fork in the cave passageway. As that occured his battery of his flashlight gave away. As darkness settled in, he let kept the flashlight off, and let it recharge. Zuka, luckily having his plasma pistol, unclipped it from his hip. Handed one to Sam, and kept another one on himself. Then Zuka squeezed the trigger gently and held it down, an overcharged orb of plasma formed and was held in place by the trigger. Now an unlimited source of green light they would have until the charge was released. Sam did the same intensifying the light allowing them to see through the cave. On their right led a darker path but on their left, appeared to be a glowing path. Slowly releasing the squeeze on the trigger, Sam dissipated the excess plasma without wasting the power core's charge. Zuka followed his actions.
They both moved together once again relying on each other for protection down the lighted path or what appeared to be light producing. Once they reached the end of the path, they came to an opening in the cave. Below worked hundreds of Xantari, moving objects, and other things to shuttle crafts, some lifted off and departed through secret exits, others entered and landed, awaiting to be loaded with materials for transport again. To the left of the vast room was what appeared to be a reactor different from the Fusion-reactor 5 kilometers behind them. They moved silently down the path without bieng detected before they came to a stop and hid behind a barrel fifteen hundred feet from the reactor. Sam looked for a weakness to exploit to detonate the reactor, then overtaking one of the transports or any one of the shuttles and using it for their escape.
Once both of them were in position, Sam unclipped two fragmentation grenades unclipped their pins and tossed them towards the reactor with all his might. They crossed a mere two hundred feet from the reactor and detonated releasing shrapnel and a cloud of smoke. Zuka and Sam moved forward, opening up with a full burst of assualt and Plasma rifle. Two hundred armor piercing rounds left the barrel towards the targets. Penetrating flesh, and armor. Xantari laborers fell instantly, the guards didn't stand a chance as the plasma melted through their light armor and into their flesh vaporizing and ending their lives instantly but yet painfully. Now bieng closer to the reactor they both turned on heel, and ran towards the reactor. Zuka was the first to reach, but not understanding any of the symbols upon the control panel. He quickly started pushing random buttons any he saw fit to causing the reactor to over-load. Finally he hit the proper key, and reactor alarms started to sound. Shuttles that had just landed started to lift off and leave, leaving behind any one else that worked in this underground area.
Sam replaced his expended clip with a new one, and opened fire again on any Xantari guards or laborers trying to attack Zuka. Zuka himself, then opened up with his Plasma rifle as he ran towards Sam and the shuttled he had commandered. Just as Zuka reached the shuttle a barely alive guard shot Zuka in the leg, completely vaporizing his right leg. Purple blood for a short second sprayed Sam on his armor and clothes, and then stopped. He opened up on the almost dead guard as he went and picked up Zuka. Over a hundred and fifteen armor piercing rounds tore through the Xantari guard, ripping him apart like a lawnmover with grass. Brown blood sprayed the floor, as sparks flew from bullets richochetting of the walls. Sam placed Zuka in the shuttle. He then clipped both of the Plasma pistols of Zuka, charged them to maximum, and released two overcharged shots upon the reactor. Once finished that he tossed the two weapons and jumped into the shuttle.
"Thank you for saving...my life Sam..." the elite rasped as he spoke through his passing phase of his shock. "You truly are a very honorable and good friend" and then fell into unconciousness.
Sam put Zuka in a chair, and made sure that he was secured with the proper safety protection harness. Then he got himself into the pilot chair, slammed his fist on a green button. The ships engines ignited an overcharged bluish flourocent green color. He took the controls, and slammed them forward. The ship backed into the reactor fast, and caused it trememdous damage.
"Damn inverted control!" "Really not needed, for this kind of a situation, and i had to pick this one" he finished talking to himself.
He as quickly as possible familiarized with the ships controls and then gunned them, with a burst of speed the shuttle flew through the mountain's or hill's exit cave and out of the underground complex. The reactor exploded with a force of a 56 mega-ton nuclear detonation, causing the Fusion-reactor to detonate as well, expanding the blast even more. The shockwave wiped out trees and everything within a twenty-five mile diameter. The fireball veered up into the sky, pushing the tiny little shuttle to its limits.
Out over in orbit the crews aboard the entire fleet and crews in stations watched the explosive spectacle and also watched in horror at the expanding blast. So much destruction would destroy a lot of life. Once what had been a beautiful Central Montana twenty five mile diameter area, was now a half a kilometer deep crater with everything burned or completely vaporized. Many of the cruisers in the fleet moved away from the expanding blast as their hulls shuddered tremendously from the still dissipating shockwave.
As the fireball exploded into the outreaches of space a little shuttled zoomed by the massive fleet around earth. Travelling at a speed just under three fourths the speed of light. A bluish flourocent green trail of ionized gas sped through the system. Before any sensors could even catch what the ship looked like, it had left short range sensor range and was already on its way out of the system at the moment.
Approximately fifty billion kilometers from the outer edge of the SOL system a small shuttle craft dropped back into real space from a very fast jump close to the speed of light. The two passengers inside the ship had been rattled beyond known imagination, but thankful to the ships inertial dampners, most of the trememndous shaking had been cut down a hundred-fold. Sam after slowly taking of his harness checked on Zuka. The brave Elite was still out, probably from the loss of blood. Which he would have to tend to just in a few moments. After turning the ships around and gunning the engines back towards earth, he jammed his assualt rifle in such a posistion so that, it would take a few hours of work to take it out and stop the shuttle.
He took out a small med-kit he carried with him, then a bottle of bio-foam and tended to Zuka's wounds. Hopefully medics back on earth could flash clone a new leg for Zuka, taking his proper DNA, and creating a new leg so that he could fight another day. As the shuttle left the area and traveled towards earth. From the sensor shadow, three Xantari Super Carriers appeared. Sam oblivious to the situation continued to tend to Zuka Rulnamee's wounds and thought to himself of earth's survival. The Super Carriers slowly eased back into sensor shadow and prepared for a jump to earth to erradicate the Human/Covenant infestation of a planet that they didn't deserve and of that new Inter-phasic ship that had arrived in the system approximately metracs ago.
Sorry for the delay of my fourth chapter. I in a way lost my touch for ideas, and now they are coming back. A good weeks of sleep can do wonders to the imaginative power of the brain. Anyways the next chapter will be posted within the week soon.
Title: Return To Halo
Alternate Realities - Return To Halo
Date: 27 August 2004, 2:56 AM
As of this fanfiction bieng posted into the list, I have returned from the long gone past. After Wado created the new post system, which i thank him alot. I registered to it, and things got mixed up, and i never recieved the mail for starting my account. So from now on, Guardian = Me will go by the name of Shadow, whenever i post comments to your fanfiction. Enough chit chat, to the story!
Location - Outside SOL system Date Unknown Aboard Super Carrier - Spritis of Light High Fleet Commander Room
As the Super-carrier activated its cloaking field, light surrounding the ship bent around it, instead of reflecting from it, causing it to disappear from sensors. The Spirits of Lightmoved with gentle ease towards the small green planet. Its engines flared and the engines shuddering reverberated throughout the hull of the ship.
In the ready room of the Fleet Commander, three biengs stood, two with their hands behind their backs in a tight formation they stood. With bluish-green light reflecting of the floor, fabricating unique shadows of each figure.
"Fleet Commander, the ship will arrive within four thousand metrarcs of filthy biengs' world. Its surrounded by extreme heavy weaponry and approximately four to five thousand ships, of various classes, as well strength. However there is no sign of the inter-phasic ship that was detected 8 solar metrarcs ago" spoke the one second in command
A figure measuring six point seven feet in hieght rose from his chair and fixed his delicate command suit, and then spoke with a calm but serious voice.
"Very well, prepare all units for ground battles, these biengs do not deserve a planet of such beauty. Also prepare medical bays for disection, i want to learn more of these biengs personally at my own leizure. However, make sure that once the Genesis process has begun let nothing stand in the way. This is to be done with upmost importance" spoke fleet commander Kuneski Micranok
The third figure came into the picture by abruptly interepting the conversation between the Fleet Commander and his second in command. With that instance a blue beam lashed out from the wrist of the Fleet Commander, and whipped the interopter across the face leaving a gash. Copper-green blood trickled from the gash, as the interopter was thrown to the floor.
"Do not interrupt me during my conversations ever again. This has been a warning, if you are to ever do this again, you shall find your-self struggling for breath in a pool of yourr own blood" said the fleet commander
The new operative slowly got up and bowed to the Fleet Commander, in apology and receded a few steps and waited in patience till his chance to speak arrived. Till then copper-green followed a path down his cheek, his garment and to the floor tainting it. Finally when his chance arrived he slowly stepped forward and spoke his mind.
"Sir within two solar metrarcs the Genesis fighters shall be ready however, it would be best to remove the cloak of this ship and the other drop back on the far side of the carbon biengs' and deploy the Genesis troops instantly, for once created their life period is three solar metrarcs. At our current speed, by the time we reach the filth of biengs the Genesis Troopers shall have defragmented and dispered into the inter-phasic fabrics of galatic-dimensional space" said the newly oppointed operative. "Very well increase speed so we arrive in time to dispact the Genesis Troopers, once again for the last time, the greatest journey of our forefathers have begun, and we are here to complete it. Let nothing stand in the process of Genesis" spoke the commander with excitement in his voice.
Location - Earth April 19, 2662 UNSC Space Command Station - Orbiting Earth Main Room
Captain Thomas Turner, Captain Matthew Preston, Admiral Haycore, and Captain James McHenry stood, next to the rest of the brass. As the admiral took his seat among the rest of the brass, he assesed the situation and then spoke.
"We are running out of options to defend ourselves from these Xantari attacks, as we speak, we have no idea what they are planning, and we need to be prepared for whatever they throw at us. I am greatly pained to know our bag of tricks is running low. We must devise and ulternate method to deal with this situation, if any of you have an ideas please speak forth your views."
As the commanders thought for minutes, and pondered for ideas that they themselves didn't know, and finally as sighs were released, a young, but daring captain let his voice be heard to everyone sitting and standing in the room.
"Admiral, in my reality, or my dimension so to speak, there were the constructs known as Halo's. Humanity had only discovered one, accidentally stumbling upon it by the famous. Now dead captain Keyes, along with the Spartan super soldier Master Chief-117. I have no idea of what has progressed according to the timeline of Human and Covenant History. But if there is a chance that even one of the Halo's do exist. Then it is possible for us to find a way to locate the homeworld of these Xantari. Once confirming it, we can use the inter-phasic drive of Captain Turner's ship. Which in turn shall open a gateway to their homeworld. Once it is opened we can focus the pulse of the Halo's weapon into it and irradicate all life upon their planet."
Their eyes brightened over the terrific idea, where their chances of survival and not bieng irradicated from history, would be good. But concerning the situation of the "HALO's" it seemed worse than ever, for they had no idea if there were any left. Fourty-five years ago, before the Human/Covenant Alliance, humanity had started a journey on destroying all the Halo's known at that time, and had succeded in doing so, or atleast they thought they had. At that moment the admiral thought over the idea and spoke.
"We have no idea if any Halo's exist or not, we destroyed as many of them we could forty-five years ago. However i shall ask the High Prophet of Truth where he knows if any Halo's do exist till this day."
With that the admiral ended the discussion, and classified the entire length of the conversation classified. Any leak of information would be dealt with capital punishment.
Location - Earth April 19, 2662 UNSC Space Command Station - Orbiting Earth Docking Ring
As the two captains made their way towards their ship, they had a quick personal informatin exchange and then made their way towards their ships. Once in them, they disengaged and moved their way slowly towards the front-line of the fleet. The UNSC Remora charged her MAC capacitors and made ready to fire, unlocked all safties for her Archer missle pods, and armed her remaining two Shiva Nuclear Warheads. As he was about to go back to his quarters, his ship was hailed by the admiral, he turned around and then asked his com officer to open the channel.
"Captain Preston concerning your idea of the Halo's through the information banks of the Covenant we were locate Halo, or suffice to say the only one surviving. The problem, now, is that it lies deep inside the core territory of the Covenanat. Knowing the situation and to brief about it as well. The area is moderately occupied with a Xantari pressence, which comes to the mission that is about to be handed to you. In the ability to complete your idea as a mission, we shall grant you eighteen Covenant Battleships, and fifty-four human cruisers which have been reformatted with Plasma and Xantari Technology, weapons, etc. You leave immediately before the Xantari realize whats going on, as of now every soul in this system wishes you the best luck with their heart. Godspeed my friends, and i shall see you once more on the other side" with that, the transmition ended, and seventy-two ships moved forward from the fleet prepared for Slispace and charged their engines.
As the fleet prepared to jump, the U.S.S Remora joined the fleet bringing the number to seventy-three. The U.S.S Remora moved in front of the fleet and opened up a bluish web of energy, it attached itself to the seventy-two ships behind it and dragged them forward with ease. Then ahead of it, a bluish-green gateway appeared infront of it, the seventy-three ships moved into it and disappeared from known sensors.
The tech's crews and the captain looked out the main window, to see stars zip by unimaginable speeds and then disappear, as a void of gaseous nebulae and planetary bodies appeared outside of the interstellar pathway. They also blurred by, and were replaced by other planets as well. With each view, each planet had its own defenses and biengs upon them, thousands of these civilizations blurred past.
Soon the fleet arrived to what appeared to be a central hub, a void of open space, where millions of slipspace matricies opened and closed, as the passed through the hub towards their destinations. A station appeared in the void of space. The U.S.S Remora docked with it, and within a matter of minutes it disengaged, and moved towards a point in the hub, where a inter-phasic slipspace matrix opened up and the rest of the fleet moved with the other Remora into it and continued on their journey.
Location - Planet Purity Secondary Location - Ringworld Halo Installation 001 Date Unknown Forerunner Installation - Control Room Entrance
Fleet Commander Keneski Ninorka stood before the massive control room entrance. He spoke his thoughts out loud for his team to hear.
"If these biengs known as the Forerunner existed, i would pledge my life to serving them in any means they require my help. These biengs are said to be the great creators, who came to this universe three million Solar cycles before the dawn of the filth civilization" he spoke slowly, looking up in amazement. "Today we shall gather information from the databases of this construct and see what more we can assimilate to expand our knowledge, however there may be defenses. All units arm your phase rifles and prepare for battle if any is to occur and victory shall be ours" with that he moved forward, the doors parted and his team followed and disappeared into the bowels of the structure.
Location - Planet Purity, Installation 001 April 22, 2662 Inter-phasic matrix exit Three million kilometers from Ringworld
Seventy powerful warships exited from their journey, only to find a Xantari cruiser in orbit, at that moment's notice, the UNSC Remora opened fire with her weapons already running hot. Four MAC shotgun like rounds left the cannon and impacted upon the cruiser, with each round impact, it shattered and spread the damage across the ship. Round after round damage splashed across its shields draining them persistantly. Not yielding to the fire, the shields hold.
The cruiser, not knowing the attacker comes about to face its opponent, to find a fleet of 72 ships bearing down upon it, with the inter-phasic ship leading the fleet. Just as the ship attempts to hail for re-enforcements, its communications become jammed, and four anti-matter torpedoes speed towards it. Upon impact, the charges detonate, the antimatter spreading across the ships shields, energy fields made out of matter react with the antimatter. Detonating and releasing radiation at lightspeed, the shield's flare and desperately try to hold, but fail in the end. Finally as the shields die, twelve ships open up with archer missiles, sending a fury of one hundred forty-four streaks of yellow and white upon the cruiser. The missiles' impact in a hellfire, and open up the ship's hull. Metal melts and slags within seconds. The reactor, unable to survive the impacts, redlines, and detonates.
Greenish light is released from the stern end of the ship followed by massive plates of half molten battle armor, bieng ejected from the explosion. A white light blinds all who are watching, followed by a shockwave that rocks the ships and sends crew tumbling forward. Very few are critically injured, and many have cuts and bruises. As the momentary blindness dissipates, they watch in awe as nothing remains of the cruiser, besides free floating molten and resolidified battle plates. Each of the Human/Covenant ships are hailed by the U.S.S Remora.
"I believe we have lost the element of surprise by the tremendous explosion, as off now, prepare your ground teams and dropships, our sensors indicate there are approximately, three hundred Xantari forces searching the ringworld, for fragments of technology. I wish you all the best of luck, and Godspeed" captain turner, ended the transmition thought to himself, hoping this operation would work. With the homeworld out of the way. His resistance fleet which the others knew nothing about could attack the remaining major outposts of the Xantari, and cornering them into a final stand. The price was great and the guilt of annihilating a species was greater. However the price for letting such a species slip from one's grasp was far more dangerous than annihilating it.
Above the ringworld, over a hundred Pelican/HEV/EDP(Elite Drop Pods)/and Phantom Dropships were released to be sent to irradicate the Xantari threat. Within one of the Pelicans was the greatest hero of all time, within the Sanctuary's Planet History. He was known as the Master Chief, Spartan-117. Carrying more experience than every man, woman, and Covenant forces put together. He would be leading the assualt on the control room, once again.
This would be the greatest fight to go down in the history of this new Earth, he had visited. Covenant/Human alliance, plasma and Super-MAC batteries surrounding Earth. John for once though, it doesn't matter what happens here, we need to get back to our reality, earth cannot die, no matter what, it cannot die.
Dropships' landed and troops unloaded, only for some to be met by heavy phase rifle fire, tens of troops dropped instantly, blood spraying the metal and ground behind and below them. Dropships' exploded in a fire of molten shards and plasma. While other's bieng better off, a few survived the attack, and managed to crash land, farther away. As for Spartan-117's team, they landed at the control room. Four hundred meters from entrance of the control room. Having his shield system upgraded to block phase rifle technology, he was in a way impervious to the energy that would kill others, by passing through their armor, and re-materiallizing within their bodies, vaporizing them from the inside out.
He moved forward, holding his battle rifle, safety thumbed off. A full clip of plasma coated bullets awaited anything that dared to open fire on him. He found the group of thirty Xantari forces at the control room. Cortana for once was with him all the way through instead of the last time, where he was off alone in the library fighting off the flood without her help. The shock of his life had occured there, when a infection form had managed to inflict damage across his flesh. Thankful to her assistance he was here, but today, he wouldn't let her go again without a fight.
He saw what appeared to be a commander of the forces , telling them to spread out and watch for defenses. The commander bieng oblivious to the situation, knew nothing that was to occur. The Master Chief, scoped in on his head, and opened fire with one round and watched. The round impacted upon its armor, the plasma also impacted splashing across its armor, melting it away instantly. The commander of the xantari forces fell forward with its armor turned to slag. The chief exhaled hoping it was dead, but to his surprise it rose up and its forces covered him, saw the chief and opened fire upon his location and the chief's team's location as well. Metal exploded as did glass, rock and lighted power sources.
The Chief pulled back to keep his shields intact, when the firing died down. He primed a plasma grenade and send it towards the enemy. As the fuse of the plasma grenade hit 0, the chief opened up with his SMG's and ran forward. So did the Covenant and human troops. Plasma fire and plasma coated bullets formed a wall of death as it impacted upon the Xantari, their armor melting away upon the splash damage created from the plasma. Searing and burning through their flesh. As many rifles overheated and clips spent, the enemy lay at their feet, mostly vaporized with charred remains, of armor, and flesh.
One Xantari trooper survived and opened up on the Human/Covenant forces killing them like flies, and then died from massive blood loss, the chief turned around to find two elites and one human surving, with shock he opened up once again on the dead Xantari trooper, and expended the clip in fear. He quickly regained control, dropped the clip slammed a fresh one home and moved forward signalling his remainder of a team to move with him...
to be continued.

I've been away a quite a while now, I've been busy with junior year projects, PSAT's and SAT preps. Anyways, i may have lost my writing touch from my past stories I'm hoping to gain it back. Also, for the new commenting forum, my new name is Shadow for those who are wondering if i comment on your stories. And by the way, I'M BACK! Well enough complains and news, to the story!
Location - Planet Purity, Installation 001 April 22, 2662 Location: Ring world Primary Objective: Locate Control Room
John moved silently ahead as an Black Elite next to him covered his 3, the rookie blue elite covering his six, and the private covering his 9. Luckily still having Cortana with him, he still had a direct link with the ships above in orbit. But was faced with a problem of bringing down more reinforcements. The Xantari interphasic technology could easily locate the incoming reinforcements, target pilots of all drop ships and eliminate them quickly and efficiently. Allowing gravity to do the rest and destroy the ships. But disregarding the thought he focused on his objective, he had once before alone taken out an entire covenant armada, and troops. Following that dealing with the Flood, the insane monitor 343 Guilty Sparks and his sentinel minions.
He surely could do it again, once again disregarding the thought, he checked his combat load to be shocked and find, he had expended more than half of his SMG ammunition, all of his fragmentation grenades and now as only remained with two plasma grenades. But luckily, he had relied on brute force and used his SMG's and conserved his Battle Rifle ammunition. He had twenty full clips on him including the one in the rifle at the moment.
"Chief..." Cortana said raising her tone.
He stopped, all his processes and focused on her.
"I'm detecting motion 10 meters northwest of our current position. They appear to be a Xantari Patrol, i recommend immediate evasion and find cover now" she finished. "Alright" said john and then spoke to everyone in his group
"find proper cover, and wait for my signal to open fire, at that moment open fire and not any other" he finished. "One final order, do not, depending upon yourselves and others, do not get killed" now move.
Hearing their orders each member moved to a well shaded, darkened position behind a tree or a rock, with a perfect line of sight upon the Xantari forces. John created a private comm. between his troops and spoke "Be ready to use any weapon available, Scoped weapons would be the best, but if brute force is necessary, use it at will. Do not concern your self with power core depletion and ammunition." With that they prepared themselves and waited for the Xantari troops to arrive in front of a clean shot and meet their demise.
Four Xantari troops walked together in a battle formation scanning the area with their interphasic rifles and then moving on. Two covenant beam rifles, and two human sniper rifles focused on the four Xantari troops, they humans and covenant allies had only four consecutive shots to end this small operation, if they failed they would all die. John focused on the leader with his sniper and almost pulled the trigger then stopped, open their private comm. again and spoke, "focus on the leader and move on down, troop to troop. Do not waste all your shots on each troop. We're going to use the shots in a concentration pattern. It will surely bring down their shields and the final shots should eliminate our problem."
With that he fired, his first tracer round flying exactly where it needed to be, with the shot ringing out the round impacted upon the head of the Xantari leader, his shield sparked a vibrant blue, and then started to fade, following that another tracer round impacted just a mere millimeters from the original shot. Sparking the shields once more, following that a pink bolt of energy impacted and spread across the head of the Xantari, his shields finally flared and died. The final pink shot impacted between the optical receptors of the Xantari, melting away his face, erasing his eyes and finally eradicating his brain, dropping him dead. Another four, and four more followed in succession and ended the lives of the Xantari patrol, two human rifles ejected their clips, and the humans slammed two clips in home. Covenant rifles over-heated, and they awaited for them to cool to fire again.
All of them moved themselves from their hiding positions towards the dead Xantari troops, John once again spoke. "Discard any weak weapon and trade and pick up one of these Xantari interphasic rifle's i believe their accuracy and power will be useful later on in the mission."
The two elites discarded their plasma rifles and exchanged it with a Xantari phase rifle, the weapon was sleek, its power core read 97% and had what appeared to be a retractable scope on top. The private traded his pistol for the rifle, though the weapon seemed to be a bit heavy for the young soldier he managed over looked it, and then clipped it to his armor. Finally John discarded his SMG's, he would miss the brute force that may have been necessary, but realized it was his best option to throw the dual SMG's away.
They make their way to the control room, and during their journey, the black elite who has been silent the entire journey, speaks.
"Would it not be best, to release the flood upon the Xantari. The Xantari are difficult to fight when they are alive, but if they are to be overtaken by the flood, the only thing we shall need is a lot of energy shielding, and massive tonnage of raw plasma and projectile fire power."
"That is an excellent idea, however we need to then find the primary system to disable the energy fields incubating the flood" said the private
John and his team made their way to the control room, as the reached the pyramid, they took a quick look at the towering structure, remembered their past experiences and moved up towards the main entrance door with quick efficiency. Within a matter of minutes the private was at the holographic controls pressing in the proper commands to open up the main doors. The lights turned a light green, and then the doors parted, four orange beams of light streaked out, melting away parts of the door, engulfing the private, his armor melting, and finally vaporizing away. John opened fire with his phase rifle, the shot disappeared and in a matter of seconds the sentinel exploded from within itself, its processing matrix destroyed, it fell to the ground in a fireball. Same with the other two, and only one remained, the private screamed in agony as his flesh melted, burning of his nerve endings.
Without much more vitality he fell, the life draining from his eyes. The sentinels, turned with a slight push of their anti-gravity units attached to their rear. The two elites drew their plasma pistols, and fired rapidly. The droid's shield system failing under the hail of plasma, and finally the plasma reaching the processing matrix, melting the memory crystal. Destroying all the subroutines of the droid following the bantering AI. They final group of three moved up quickly without much lingering. As they reached the final door they found two Xantari troops dead, decaying in their own blood. John, quickly checked his phase rifle, and the elites did with theirs as well, he moved at the wind towards the holo panel. Pressed upon that semi-solid image, and took up a defensive position behind some holo-displays.
The Xantari leader at the control room panel, heard the click and whir as the doors unlocked from the outside and started to open, upon instinct the commander and the remainder of three troops turned as well, and focused on the door. As the door was halfway parted, three shots light up the hallway, and three Xantari troops fell as their head exploded, spraying a mist of blood, bits of skull and brain everywhere. Mindless bodies crumpled to the floor, still pouring out blood as their hearts ceased to pump, and the blood couldn't be pushed throughout the body.
The Xantari leader unable to determine the cause, of the fire, discarded his phase rifle, and drew a secondary energy rifle and opened up upon the door, the energy bolts impacted the hallways surfaces and melted through multiple inches of it. As the rifle overheated, he discarded that his last rapid fire weapon, drew a primitive considering his own technology, a plasma blade. Ignited it and charged, two Elites ignited theirs as well and moved in an attack pattern as they gave away their cover. Finally, breaking the silence both Elites charged, both thinking of the easy kill or death filled with honor. The three blades met together, and with a quick roundhouse kick, the Xantari soldier sent one of the elites sprawling to the floor, its helmet cracked and a purple stream trailing down, but its blade still intact. The elite disregarded the pain and moved in a fluid motion, and brought itself back up. As that occurred, the other Elite became distracted, leaving him open for a clean blow.
As to be brought forth of the event given, the Xantari officer, cleared a crescent strike and sliced the elite in half vertically. The body divided into two, and momentarily blood sprayed, before coagulating, and the body landing into two parts on two different sides of the floor. The remaining Elite, seeing its younger officer die, charged, a foolish, yet desperate move, the suicidal Elite managed, to get a slice off and damaged the Xantari officer little, before he dodged out of the way and sliced the other Elite's head off.
John, watched haplessly as the battle began and ended with his two remaining team mates. He had faced great loses before, but bringing him back to the fact, that he was once again alone again on this flood infested ring world, was extremely aggravating. Not concerning the energy blade at his feet, he hefted the rifle at a straight line aimed for the Xantari troopers chest and squeezed of three shots consecutively. The first shot ended the trooper's life, and then other two, tore his body apart like a energy-saw with a rag doll. He dropped the phase rifle, picked up two plasma swords, from the dead Elites' bodies, clipped them to his belt and finally picked up the repeater rifle. Then made his way forward to the control panel. He took cortana out, and inserted her into a holopanel display. She weaved herself into the system and then remarked about some quantum filament gateway. And then she disappeared, a golden light faded over him and his mind went dark...

Author's Note: In my last chapter ending i had something written, but i felt that it was too little of a plot twist, if it was one. So therefore i changed it. Also, for a small part of my story i'm taking a few ship classes from Wado's Shadows of Archons II series. No "infringment" i'm giving him full credit as of this note. Also, credit is given to Star Craft.
Location - Planet Purity, Installation 001 April 22, 2662 Secondary Location: Ring world Primary Objective: Locate Control Room
Few minutes earlier
The battle had just ended with the remainder of the two bodies of the Elites, one body dismembered while the other decapitated. Two plasma swords were clipped to his belt as he had moved forward to insert Cortana into the main system of this Halo. The moment he had inserted her into her a chill had run down his spine, a grip of fear flowed through his mind. Inside his visor he saw wild energies forming themselves around the control room, he shook his head and looked again. Nothing existed, the disturbance was gone. The silence soon followed by a confusion of Cortana.
"Chief I'm detecting some unknown particles and a packet of information deeply buried in the core memory banks of this installation. Its some form of Quantum Filament Gateway, the coordinates that it leads to i have no idea of. But given the security systems placed on this file i believe it would be wise not to open it."
He listened for the moment and again the feeling of dread appeared in his mind of a horrible displacement of the world around him. His feet he saw were moving of the ground, a ripple of energy swept under his soles. It crackled as it touched his metal shoes and then replaced itself in the mainstream. In a moment of fright he called out "Cortana can you see this?!"
"See what chief, I'm not detecting anything on sensors or through the video displays of this place" she responded. He shuffled around trying to avoid what he saw but with each step he connected with a different strand.
With a sudden burst of light the energies became clear and visible to any being or construct within this vast control room. They swept in multiple directions and lashed back and forth as if being entities and then poured into the center of the room forming an orb of energy. Pulsating a reddish purple, then green to yellow and then a nightmarish blue. With speed he reached for Cortana's chip, pulled it out and placed it where it belonged in his suit, he felt the cold mercury feeling he always felt with her being inserted into his suit.
The orb of energy stabilized itself momentarily and then exploded in a supernova format. Blinding flash of light tinted John's visor to its limits, and then approached the energy wave. But before the moments impact a yellow light of the teleportation grid made itself available and surrounded John and took him away. The gateway opened and swallowed the entire room, including John and then worked its way to eat away Halo.
Location - Planet Purity, Installation 001 April 22, 2662 Secondary Location: Fleet Surrounding Ring world
The U.S.S. Remora watched in disillusion as an explosion rippled through the halo a whirlwind of bluish-green energies tinted with red, ate away at halo. Chaos unleashed itself upon the entities around the ring as well. A piece of debris floating along came in contact with the energies, it bent in disproportional shapes and then was sucked into the chaos. With the video feed of that, all ships were ordered to pull out of orbit and away from the Ring world.
The total of seventy-two ships moved one after the unison. The engines pulsed purple and blue and yellow as power were fed into it and they defied the fate of the piece of debris. A hole in space seemed to grow bigger with each second passing by. Captain Turner watched in horror as the void surrounded the last remaining Halo and swallowed it whole. A sweat trickled down his brow, in his mind he was the fate of this reality had been lost, but being the last of his kind, he was determined to win this war.
In the final seconds of chaos the last piece of Halo was visible, then it too was swallowed by the darkness. Following it was a flash of bright light and a shockwave, the shockwave rippled through the atmosphere of Purity. The atmosphere swirled into massive hurricanes of air, the world was turned into havoc, and whatever life remaining on that was utterly destroyed.
Location: unknown April 22, 2662 Secondary Location: Darkness
The yellow light spread throughout the utter darkness of the control room, as it appeared and then it disappeared, a Spartan lay on the floor, his gun mere inches from his body. Slowly the suit came back to life and his first breath became normal again. Lady Luck had always stayed with him throughout all his encounters with an enemy and his own life. He got up, slowly, aching in different parts of his body, as well as feeling shocks of energy.
As he looked around with even his enhanced eyes he couldn't penetrate the darkness. With a quick thought his flashlight came into existence and exposed the now dark control room of a powerless halo. Waiting for a backup or something to kick in he waited, the eerie silence consuming all. Finally after minutes in passing lights flashed into existence, but with that instance two plasma swords ignited with a single motion he brought them into an X. Laying in front of him an army of darkness and death, crawling forward tentacles sprouting. Dead flesh and no souls one after the other they poured in the whole of the control room door. Pieces of unknown metals lay scattered glowing a dull red as they cooled. Without any regrets he ran forward swinging in multiple directions. With each arc pieces of flood fell apart, green gore and reformed blood splattered the floor tainting it. Just like the feelings of the old library, creepy crawling everywhere. As he fought his was through the piles of flesh to clear a path from the gore, he saw the familiar yellow and blue beams of light. Sentinels was the only thought he could get out, before he was brought back to reality. A slash flared his shields as they dropped to fifty-six percent, he turned and with a one hundred and eighty degree swing he dismembered the body. With little left but fear, he rushed towards the exit. Close quarters with the flood was not a good idea, but outside where the land is open he was and forever will be the King.
As the final doors to the outside of the control room opened, the frigid cold air rushed in stunning the flood momentarily. Snow and hail came down fast, his shields flickered as each ball of ice impacted him. He saw what appeared to be a Xantari shuttle, he knew little of the technology. But having little choice he made his way to the craft. He drew the Xantari Phase Rifle, and activated the scanning system. No one appeared inside the craft, he punched the entrance key. The hatch unlocked, but the impact of the punch destroyed the closing mechanism. Using his great strength he grabbed the hatch of the shuttle and with force closed it shut. Coming back into his seat he took one last look at the control room and he powered the engines. The hull reverberated as the flood continued to pound on it, hoping to find a breach, where they could get inside and esacpe this ring. But he wouldn't let them, without any knowledge he started hitting random keys. Shields powered up and displayed on one holo-tank. Another activated the engine, and the third the weapons. A reticle appeared upon his screen as the shuttle craft lifted above the ground and came to hover six meters above the ground.
The shuttle activated three pulse-turrets and opened fire upon the flood below. With each burst of energy three flood combat forms went down. He was starting to enjoy this until the shuttle rocked. Shields dropped to ninety-seven percent.
"Cortana what happened?!" he said frantically, searching for the source of fire.
Bieng a lot faster in scanning and searching than John, she pin-pointed the location of the flood combat forms carrying Xantari phase rifles. She directed the computer to focus upon the flood forms and fire what appeared to be a torpedo. An aqua colored orb of light left the shuttle and impacted the flood. The explosion was far greater than she had imagined, and light flooded the darkened shuttle. Energy flickered everywhere and crept along the walls of the Control Room. The Forerruner metal slowly started to glow under the tremendous amount of heat.
"What the hell...?" was all that John could say before the shuttle shook violently under the shockwave. Shield alarms blared once again, and the digital numbers dropped from ninety-seven to eight-six and continued to do so. As finally the light receded, the shields held at sixty-four percent. The giant doors of the control room glowed a blinding orange. The heat metling the snow, the hail and the rock that it was inbuilt into it. Where once stood a giant cliff or a canyon wall, was not nothing more than steaming debris. The sunlight poured through the clouds as they parted. Leaving a scene of chaos and destruction. Without much remorse, Cortana activated the engines and they left the installation's gravity. Luckily for them, the Halo hadn't been destroyed the way it was annihilated when the Pillar of Autumn's engines were sent into a cataclysmic "Wild Cat chain reaction explosion".
As the shuttle flew into space a mind dazzling sight lay in front of the two. Sensors were beeping with an annoyance, outside lay a temple floating in space, size half of Luna. Knowing that exploration may reveal something that may get him home would be the option. Within a matter of minutes the craft landed, rock gusting away into space. The craft's engine's cooled the nightmarish blue slowly dissipating. He checked the power core on the Phase Rifle, thirty-three percent. The weapon itself was quite powerful and useful, but having only so little power remaining he discarded the weapon. He then unclipped his second plasma sword and activated it, as he neared the entrance he saw a ripple.
"Cortana what is that?" he enquired.
"Analyzing...scans complete. Chief it appears to be a force field a protection system built into place, I don't see a way around it. From my initial scans the power levels of this force-fields are beyond my comprehension" she said.
"What do you mean?" said John.
"Well when I first scanned it, before you saw the ripple. The data I received was unbelievable, the power level of the field is currently at a 4.9 level Magnitude. Combining all the Super-MAC's and the Covenant Plasma Platforms back at this "reality's" Earth firing together would provide a power level of 2.76. Such power is beyond my level of comprehension. So I suggest that you approach the field very carefully and don't do anything rash" she finished.
He deactivated his plasma sword and moved towards the field ever so slowly now. So much raw power could easily destroy this Xantari threat. Another ripple occurred, this time a larger and much noticeable one. A bright flash of light came into existence, John's visor tinted to its maximum capacity. Still the light remained bright, finally after a few seconds it dissipated. In front of him stood a figure roughly a third of a meter smaller than him. Its eyes were an emerald green, its skin pale and resembling what appeared to be a human. He wasn't sure of what it was but he took a step back and prepared to ignite his plasma sword. But before he could bring the sword in front of him, the figure spoke "Only the Guardians of Gaia and Celestia may enter."
"Cortana..., what is it talking about and what is Gaia?" he said carefully.
After a brief pause she replied a hint of surprise in her voice "Gaia means Earth, and it is saying that only the Guardians of The Earth or Celestia may enter this place."
"Well can you tell it, that I am a Guardian of Earth or Gaia" he said with less fearful voice.
"It would be best that you speak to it, tell it that you are the Guardian of Gaia and you are here to find out all that has happened up till this current day" she finished.
"Fine..." he retorted with a sigh.
"I am Spartan-117, the Guardian of Gaia. I have come here through a place called Halo and I am here to find out of all the events that has occurred until present day" he said with hope that he said it right.
The figure stood there momentarily accepting the sentences spoken to it, then without an answer it disappeared and the force field flickered and then disappeared. A door opened at the top of the stairs of the temple, a blue white light burst through reflecting of his green armor and the blackish hull of the Xantari craft. John moved towards it, an activated plasma sword in his hand. He entered the inside of the temple, behind him the doors closed. An eerie silence was all that was remaining in the giant white room. A hexagonal shaped area on the upper right corner of the room opened. Three constructs entered the room, all three looking awfully familiar, from the distance the shapes looked like an AI construct and two sentinels. Within a matter of seconds the distance was overcome, and the three constructs came to hover.
I shouldn't have left that phase rifle back there. He felt a sense of fear, something about to go wrong. He had been trained and fought countless battles against enemies in numbers far larger than this. But still in the back of his mind, he felt a cold feeling slither down his spine. Cortana what's going on? he thought, knowing since the AI was inside his head, there was no need for speaking. She closed off the external speakers and the spoke to the chief.
"Well, sensors show that the weapons on the constructs are very powerful. I wouldn't do anything rash towards them" she said in return.
He felt himself repeating the things he said to the figure at the entrance before entering the force field. "I am Spartan - 117,guardian of Gaia and soldier of the United Nations Space Command. I have come here on a missio-"
He was abruptly cut off as the AI spoke in a calm yet firm voice.
"I am 373 Guilty Rider, the construct of this Temple. I know of your designation, what you are capable of and why you are here. The guardian computer has awakened me from my stasis, and asked me to assist you in your problems. Time is something we seem to have on our side for now, so i shall answer any questions you possess" he said in a cool metallic voice.
John knew his mission clearly, to find a way to use the last Halo against the Xantari. But since, so much of information was at his hand on the forerunner and how to utilize their technology properly, he put away his main goal and asked the first question.
"Tell me all that has happened from the Time before the Flood until present day" said John.
The AI hovered there momentarily and then glowed a slight pink and then came back to a cool blue. Behind it, a chair appeared with what appeared to be a Neural-Interface.
"The information is stored there, you must go and be one with it" the monitor replied.
He took a long deep look at the monitor, and then moved towards the chair. He crossed the distance within a matter of seconds; he sat in the chair and the neural interface activated. With a sudden click the chair released itself and plummeted to the abyss of the temple. As the chair continued to gain speed, a rush of memories flooded his brain. Thousands of images flickered and phased away, all that was left in his power was to let out a long blood-chilling scream.
"John...?" asked Cortana from the darkness.
nothing...
Alternate Realities - God of War

I'm a newb with forerunner names, so I had to improvise. Forgive me.
Location: unknown April 22, 2662 Secondary Location: Darkness
John opened his eyes, a green light flashed continuously. Alarms blared the sound was getting annoying. He slowly stood up waiting for his vision to return. Time was acting against his eyes. The motion was slow until suddenly it came to equilibrium with him.
The leading figure in a gold cloak turned to find a Guardian staring at him.
"We welcome you John, the battle remains a stalemate. The flood continued their bombardment. Our shields are depleting themselves. Time is not on our side, please we need your help. Save us Guardian, bring peace and order to this Time. We have seen your capabilities; you have saved us three thousand years ago. You must do it again; your journey is a great one. The stake is not only of our Empire but of Earth."
"Wait! How do you know my name? Who are you? What is going on?" spoke the Spartan, the green light making him a silhouette in the darkness between the flashes. The gold visor made him a god.
"I am Alexis, it is not my true name. However you do not posses the skill to call me by my true name. Alexis shall serve the purpose. The questions you ask, will be answered on the trade of your service. Do you agree or disagree?"
John raised his hands and found that his battle Rifle was with him, he was dumbfounded temporarily. Within a split-second he put aside his thoughts and thumbed the safety of his weapon off.
"No! You tell me first what i want to know, and then we will see how much you need my help. My crosshairs are on your head, move an inch and I'll send your brains across the room. Now tell me."
"Very well, I or in such a case we are the forerunners, the creators. The Milky Way Galaxy is an artificial galaxy it was a grand experiment. Which in the end succeeded at a high cost. The flood were the first to seed this galaxy, within them harbors the DNA of every living being that exists within this galaxy.
John lowered his battle rifle slightly, until a forerunner to the right of the commander moved and drew a beam weapon. He moved his crosshairs onto the forerunner's head and pulled the trigger twice. The muzzle flashed yellow as six bullets exited the barrel. Six casings ejected and clinked onto the floor. The first three bullets impacted the forerunner between the eyes. The rounds bounced of a shield; the force knocked the weapon out the being's hand. The second trio of bullets impacted on the shield once again. It flared a nightmarish green, and it spread across the forerunner's body. The final impact knocked the forerunner of its feet.
Within the moment of that event, all the other surrounding forerunners drew their beam weapons and pointed them at John.
"Drop your weapon!" said a forerunner in a silver cloak.
"Hold your fire now! My talk with John has not completed, anyone who fires will be sent to the brig."
"But sir..."
"James you will cease fire!"
The surrounding forerunners lowered their weapons and eased themselves. James also lowered his weapon slowly and grudgingly. He'll be the end of us. He moved back towards the weapons display. Another forerunner sitting in the front spoke.
"Sir the flood ships are a few hundred kilometers of to port, waiting to fire."
Alexis waiting patiently for a few seconds before he spoke to John and James. His voice was tense, sweat dripped down his brow. Out in the distance bloated dead green ships floated on their way to the forerunner fleet.
"Fire."
The hull reverberated as on screen three torpedoes raced away from the ship John was on. In return, the flood fired as well. Seven torpedoes raced away from their ships, upon impact of the flood weaponry the shields pulsated bright silver before fading to a dull blue. Another volley impacted upon the shields same process repeated itself. The forerunner now known by Mark yelled across the noise.
"Shields at seventy-three percent and dropping, the flood have managed to fire the torpedoes faster than we can. We won't be able to hold out much longer under this much stress."
The ship shook tremendously; console's exploded sparks showered the bridge crew and the Spartan. John's shields flared as metal fragments impacted on it.
"Where the hell are our torpedoes?" screamed Alexis, his voice rasp. Blood trickled from his mouth.
John watched quietly as the battle unfolded before him, Forerunner and Flood ships exchanged fire. Reactors detonated and ships burned, melted and useless floating dead in space. Beam batteries fired repeatedly, hundreds streaks of blue and yellow blazed across infected ships. Cutting into the flesh of the flood, melting through the death reaching for the core. A single shot would do the rest, but getting to reactor was a problem. More torpedoes arced away from the ship, some impacting dead ships others impacting active ones. Golden light bathed the bridge as the shields finally failed left the ship vulnerable to flood infestations. He quickly reloaded his battle-rifle, sensing trouble. He took two steps back and mere meters from him a teleportation grid activated.
Two carrier forms, three combat forms and a group of infection forms appeared. James seeing this pulled out his beam weapon and opened fire on them, the infection forms popped as raw energy destroyed their molecular structure. The combat forms however were more resilient to beam weapons than the infection forms. They rushed two of the bridge crew and brought them down within seconds. John switched of his scope on his rifle and aimed at the chest of the combat form. He pulled the trigger, bullets blazed the air and three rounds punctured and killed the first combat form. He then jumped forward and brought down the butt of his rifle on a combat form. His strength and force knocked it backwards. With little time to spare he kicked the combat form in the chest, his titanium boots crushed its chest and the life faded from his threat.
One more and the two carriers, where is Cortana? His movements were systematic, but unpredictable. James fired his beam weapon once more, this time far more accurate then his first. The beam met its target straight and true, the flesh melted against the extreme heat. The infection form within the combat form melted and the final combat form fell. One of the carrier forms exploded sending infection forms all across the bridge. An explosion rocked the ship, the alarm colors changed from green to red. Another forerunner from a distant console spoke.
"Hull breach on decks seventeen through twenty-three. Bleeding oxygen at a rate of sixteen percent per minute. Sealing breached decks, primary shield generators have been hit. Secondary generators activated."
Once again a golden light bathed the bridge, the forerunner spoke again.
"Secondary level shields activated, holding at forty-three percent."
Just as he finished, the final carrier form detonated itself in a mass of flesh, green mucus and more infection forms. The shields of the nearest forerunner failed and the infection forms swarmed him. Red blood splattered against the consoles and seats. John was surprised to see red blood. All the surviving bridge crew drew their weapons and opened fire. The infected Forerunner was vaporized by the combined power of multiple beam weapons. The flood died with him too.
Another torpedo impacted the slowly recharging shields, and the percents dropped unbelievably to the eye. Forty-three percent continued to drop until it reached five percent. The shields held barely, another hit and they would be annihilated. Finally seeing all the carnage John made up his mind.
"I'll help you" he said in a firm calm voice.
Alexis looked up, his eyes filled with joy. A sense of hope washed over him maybe we do have a fighting chance in this war. But that soon was destroyed as Mark yelled once more from another console.
"Incoming torpedoes, class III. Shields cannot take that, waiting for instructions. Thirty seconds to impact. Twenty seconds to impact, sir?"
Alexis looked at the screen his mind filled with confusion. What did I do wrong?.
"Ten seconds to impact, Sir!" said Mark, a sense of grief in his voice.
However before the torpedoes could impact, a ship moved in front of them. Alexis recognized the configuration, No! The torpedoes impacted, the new ship's shields flared and flooded the bridge with white light. John's visor tinted to maximum output, yet the light was still too bright. He brought his hand to block the light, the shields gave under the energy released by the torpedoes. It continued onwards and buckled the hull. The ship broke apart on the immense stress. The reactor unable to take the pressure, overloaded. The light intensified then came the shockwave. John lost his balance and crashed into a chair, his battle rifle escaped his grip and flew across the room before making a dent in the alien hull. His shields flared and dropped by seventy-five percent. The ship trembled, like a child fearing the darkness. Secondary shields finally failed and hull buckled once more. Finally the light receded only glowing sections of a ship remained on the view screen.
Alexis fell to his knees, tears streaming down his bloody face. He spoke sobbingly, the silence was enough for the bridge crew to hear the grief and ordeal the commander now faced.
"No, not the Harmony of Light. Why did this have to happen, what did I do wrong. Tell me gods, where did I fail her. Tell Me!"
He muttered something, which John was unable to understand. The bridge crew bowed and honored their fallen. Seeing all of this occurring around him, John too bowed and swore he would avenge for the one who had fallen here today. The commander soon regained his composure and spoke.
"This battle is lost, but the war is not. Form up bring everything we have to bear in front of us. Hail the fleet to prepare to jump back to Celestia. We're going to plow a path for them and we are going to live through to see tomorrow. Activate the Quantum Gateway, lets leave this scene and live to fight another day."
The Bridge crew cheered as they slowly got up and began to move back to their consoles. The moral had returned, John moved to the wall and picked up his battle rifle. A small dent appeared in the butt of the rifle. Good and reliable to the end, glad to know that you survived old friend. He then moved to James who was on the floor slowly regaining his consciousness. John stuck out his hand to James and he in turn grabbed it. His eyed brought forth an apology, and John accepted it. He pulled James back up and handed him his weapon. He looked him directly in the eye momentarily, I sense a friendship to form.
Outside in space, the Guardian of Celestia plowed through the remainder of the infected/flood fleet. Beam batteries firing left and right, cutting through rotten matter. Torpedoes destroyed remainder of the smaller ships and cruisers. Behind the lead flagship, followed several remainder of forerunner ships. The flood fleet was in disarray, some firing on each other while the rest following in pursuit.
They forerunner fleet finally congregated at the Quantum Gateway jump coordinates. In one final salvo, the combined ships emptied their torpedo batteries into the pursuing infected/flood ships. Hundreds of powerful torpedoes raced towards the enemy at detonated with great prejudice. The Guardian of Celestia opened the gateway and hailed the fleet to proceed through. Finally as the last ship entered, the flagship made way towards the entrance of the gate. Too little to be noticed an infected corvette attached itself to the flagship's hull. An invasion spawning in their unified minds. The flagship finally entered the gateway and disappeared in a flash of nightmare green and blue.
In the Abyss of the Celestial temple, Cortana continued to make contact with John. Suddenly his sensors picked up something, unknown and powerful. For the first time ever known to her she spoke to John, fear in her voice.
"Where are you John? I'm afraid..."
A pain stabbed his mind as he heard something whisper in the back of his head.
"I'm afraid..."
He knew one and only one thing that would be able to do such a thing.
Cortana...

Alternate Realities Blind
Location: Revelations
Date: April 23, 2662
In his guest quarters, the Spartan sat on the bed looking over his battle scarred rifle. To say that it had seen hell was an understatement. The world can be so naive, creating a rag from the bed sheet he wiped the metallic surface trying to get rid of the brackish blood stains that covered the barrel and the two times magnification scope.
He could feel the minute vibrations that peaked through the ship every time it would phase by a gravity well while in transit to Celestia in slip space. For one reason or another he was uneasy, and things didn't turn out well when things were uneasy. It was true that he was probably on board the most powerful ship in the Forerunner fleet, but even the strongest things in existence have weaknesses that can be exploited.
Pressing the green button on the side he activated the micro-computer stored inside the rifle itself which controlled the display counter. This would provide any user, Spartan or Marine with a set number of rounds located in the magazine. This would include the round chambered into the barrel to be fired at a later date. Looking around he saw numerous ornamental objects that decorated the ship quarters and what seemed to be holographic display panels facing the wall.
He got up and heard the creaks in his armor, John with all honesty wondered when exactly he would receive the promised upgrade of his armor. According to the monitor, 343 Guilty Sparks from Halo Installation 004, his armor was only a class two. But the construct had recommended that he upgrade to a class twelve as soon as possible. He had always wondered what a class twelve MJOLNIR suit would look like and what it could be capable of doing.
Walking up the panels he felt once again very familiar with the symbols and keys. Much like when he was on Halo. Be it coincidence or otherwise, trying his never-ending luck. He pressed a sequence of holographic key pads only to create a light that appeared behind him. Turning around he stopped, there laid in front of him Cortana.
He was confused beyond known doubt; he had heard her voice earlier on the bridge but it was faint. But now she was present in front of him. Her size was apparently figured to suit his proportions that the computer probably scanned and then applied to her.
"Cortana?"
"Not quite, Master Chief. I am rather a representation of the AI you call Cortana, to suit your needs in a more systematic fashion. The computer system generated me when you tapped the sequence of keys in the holographic panel behind you."
John waited patiently for a few seconds absorbing the information. After comprehending her words he focused his thought process and asked one of the major questions that had been bugging his mind.
"What's going on?"
"Ahh, I thought you would never ask that question. I'm now glad that you did, you may consider sitting down as this will be fairly long and will cover a lot of complex formats of information.
Complying with her request he moved back to the bed and sat down, placing his rifle next to him, the blue glow of the display counter lighting up the bed sheet.
"Well?" He quipped, emotions hidden from the unknown thanks to the gold visor.
"What you see in front of you, is nothing but a physical manifestation that the ship has created in order for you to interact with in this time frame. The Forerunner, the ship itself and I" she moved herself towards the holographic panels and tapped a few keys activating the window system. As the metal covers pulled back, the room was bathed in a white glow. Stars and planetary bodies residing within the dimensions of slip space zipped by soon becoming blurs in the fading horizon.
"I don't understand" he really didn't, physical representations of his mind created by a ship, was that even possible?
"And now you question yourself to test your sanity, am I correct?" the un-named person said.
"Slow down, I don't understand a word you're saying. None of this stuff should be possible. But it is, so tell me what exactly is going on and who are you. A name would be helpful, to say the least." He felt ever so frustrated, palming his visor to give evidence that he was confused.
"My name? Well, you can call me Katherine or Kate for short. As for what's going on, it's not that hard to comprehend John. I can call you John right?" She replied confidently swaying her out of her eyes and focused on his eyes with a glow of emerald.
"Yes, John's fine. Now please, tell me why you think it shouldn't be too hard for me comprehend all your words."
"Let's begin when you first came to Halo and when you came across your first Forerunner holographic display panel. Why is it that upon seeing it, you felt some sort of connection to it? It can't be just pure coincidence, as the numerous other encounters with other holographic display panels you felt the same connection." She paused to take a deep breath and ran her finger across the windowsill.
"As well as why the monitor of the installation 343 Guilty Sparks called you a 'Reclaimer'. He then noted that your armor qualification is a 'Class two and you should upgrade to at least a Class twelve'. How can a few hundred thousand year old AI construct suddenly make a cross reference and without second thought label you as a being from the past. Doesn't that seem illogical ?"
"I don't understand your logic. Are you to say that I am a survivor of the mass extinction that took place when the Halos' fired? And that is the reason behind my familiarity with the interfaces of Forerunner technology?" A frown settled upon his face, this was a little far-fetched by logical standards. But then again a lot of things he had seen in life were far-fetched.
Kate mused at the skill of adaptation John had displayed at such a sudden and large amount of information intake. Things would finally straighten out, finally. "Precisely, you hold genetic traits that have a direct connection with the Forerunner. Which is why, you are capable of interacting with Forerunner technology without former knowledge."
John clenched his fist and bit his lip, this was impossible. How can he bear genes of a race that was thought to have died a few hundred millennia ago?
"Why do you continue to question yourself John, isn't the first time enough? Will the constant questions make the situations any clearer?"
"Then answer me this, why is it that my body lies in the annals of the control room of Halo Installation 001? Why is it that my mind exists in a time far older than history has ever known, and more importantly how does this weapon that lies on my bed exist?" He could feel himself shake as more and more thoughts of curiosity and a demand of his past racked his mind.
He suddenly tensed and became rigid as solid metal when he felt the soft touch of a woman's hand inside his armor. Turning his head he could see the hand of Katherine extend through his armor, and he could feel it upon his bare skin. "What
"
"Shush, rest now. We have talked a great deal in a short time, and no doubt you need time to recuperate. Tomorrow Alexis will stop by and lead you to the armory where the refit of your suit will begin; there we will continue our conversation." She embraced him in a hug and held on for a few seconds longer before pulling back and moving towards the door.
"I understand" John paused for a few second and looked at the stars and planets that continued to zoom by. Almost like they were caught in an infinity loop, then turning his head he caught the glimpse of Katherine at the door "good night Kate."
"Good night John" she walked out the room and doors closed behind her. Leaning back onto them she voiced her thoughts "we have much to talk about John, and I hope that your memories would return to you. There's something that awaits you in this past that you must collect, in order for you to succeed in the future." She flickered out of existence and the fleet continued to cruise towards their home world through slip space.
The Flood infested corvette attached to the ship's hull detached and was quickly pulled out of slip space and into the outer core of a passing star. In seconds the ship was vaporized and any amount of the Flood that existed within it destroyed with it.
Inside the flagship's hull clung a parasitic sentience that governed a great portion of a flood for its actions of finding food to reproduce as well as carry out other duties. Currently it had one goal and it was the most important item aboard this ship, if not amongst all the Forerunner. "The Reclaimer will be ours
"
"You're telling him too much already!" a flustered voice said from within the darkness.
"It needs to be done in order for his true power to be revived" another voice, this one sounding feminine sweet and sultry, responded to the criticism.
"How can you allow her to do this, you know what will happen don't you?" the flustered voice responded again darkening his tone trying to convey his message and gain some form of support.
"I'm well aware of the consequences if things go wrong, but what choice do we have in this matter? The last one capable of such a feat died four thousand years ago" the voice having the tone of leadership responded.
"We have the Halos, we can use those again. They are fully capable of firing multiple times, not only that. We could modify the pulses to target The Flood specifically and eradicate them!" The flustered voice sounded desperate now more than angered or frustrated.
"And how long do you think it would take to modify the pulses for each Halo in each of the galaxies that the Flood resides in?" The authoritative voice demanded.
"A few centuries at most to modify the Halos residing within the galaxies surrounding the Interverse Gate."
"You very well know that any Halo is capable of acting as an emergency gate that leads directly to the system one slip space jump prior to the Eve system where the gate resides."
"The Reclaimer shouldn't be dismissed so quickly!" The angered voice had returned.
"Enough, this argument is not progressing. I will do what is necessary in order for his latent powers to awaken, and I will also do what is necessary to make sure that if there's a probability of rampancy. That his termination will be the first course of action that I will take" the voice paused with the ultimatum before finishing "that is all there is to say. I will update you of any progress."
John stood at the window and watched more stars and planets whisk by as the ship traveled through slip-space. Tapping the window he reminisced about what Kate had told him. Clearly to him it seemed impossible, he was born about thirty four years old as of now. But with being genetically modified his age would probably extend well beyond a hundred years and his skills would continue to improve as time passed on. But if he was a Forerunner, would he age into the thousands?
He had so many questions to ask, and some how none of them he realized would be the answers that he would look for. What did she mean 'I had to collect something from this past?' What was there to collect? He looked back at the battle rifle that lay on the bed. Thirty-six the L.E.D. display glowed, that's thirty-six potential lives he could take or thirty-six potential lives he could save.
For now sleep was something he did needed, but dismissed it with a higher priority of exploration. He wondered if she was still outside the door waiting for him to do something. If what she had said was true, then he could walk out of that door and walk around an empty ship. They were all physical manifestations generated by his mind after all, right? Then couldn't he dismiss them as well? He walked back to the bed and grabbed the rifle, and then walked towards the door. Just as the door opened a cold feeling of unease crawled down his spine, whipping around he bought the rifle to wear pointing the window.
He swore he felt a presence outside that window, but could things survive in slip-space? Sighing he walked out the door and felt it close behind him. In the silent and dark room, the bluish green glow of slip-space that entered through the window suddenly went dark as numerous amounts of half-decomposed tentacles covered up the window.
Another roar was released from the darkness as the ground shook and the dust scattered with the vibrations. Intricate symbols flashed alive on the reflective floor before they dissipated into nothingness. The shield shimmered in magnificence for a fraction of a second as gold light basked the room and then it too, like the symbols, faded into invisibility. Cortana however still knew it existed and had a feeling that it was stronger than any Covenant shield system she had seen in her existence.
Accessing the holo-display systems she began a search for any key materials that could help her understand the situation John was in. As her subroutines processed code after code of hacking programs to bypass firewalls she focused fifty percent of her processing power on finding unallocated memory to dump her knowledge gathered from the Halo Installation 004. Fortunately and with the grand design of luck, this installation had an abundant amount of it, and so she diverted another twenty-five percent of her processing power to dump all the data into the memory for temporary storage.
When the time came to depart she would reinstitute the information back into her core memory. As the memory transfer completed she felt refreshed as a great deal of her previous lost processing power returned to her. She felt flexible and strong; being able to do the kind of work she was used to before Halo. Pausing momentarily she looked at the apparent comatose form of Spartan 117. In comicality she wondered if his code name should be changed to God. While scientifically there was no such proof of its existence, it in a way seemed to fit the Spartan.
For he was a guardian and she was his angel, but in the end he did things that no man or Spartan would be capable off. His legacy would define history as they knew it; he was in all sense a "one man army". She was snapped out of her ponder as another roar was reflected through the hollow corridors. A frown dotted her face as her personal reflection from the floor changed from a blue to a bright red. Did they have any form of defence against such a monstrosity?
At times as annoying as she thought a Halo Construct was, she wished it was here. It would know information regarding the anomaly and also be able to direct the sentinels into a defence grid to protect the "Reclaimer". Focusing once again on the task she reallocated sixty-percent of her processing power to search for information regarding John's situation. The remainder forty-percent was then divided into two tasks, first twenty-percent of the power would be then assigned to a high priority task of searching for configuration systems for the sentinel guardian systems. The remainder twenty would once again be divided, where ten percent would be assigned a highest priority task.
Monitor Spartan 117's vitals and to make sure nothing would go wrong if it was in her power to control that factor. The remainder ten percent served as divertible resources to prevent a system bottleneck.
The corridors of the ship were different, far different than the corridors of Halo or the control room. The height was roughly a meter taller than him; it almost gave him a vibe that the ship was molding to his specifications and or of what he would have fictionally suspected the Forerunner to be like. Though comforting in a sense it was also difficult to accept that such a powerful race existed.
As he walked towards through the ship he felt another awkward feeling that he couldn't put his face to and so clutched his battle rifle tighter than usual. Pausing he bought the rifle to bear and quickly turned around only to find an empty corridor. To compliment his flank he once again quickly turned to check his original direction and found the path in front of him empty as well. The H.U.D. system bought up his vitals and according to the system his heart rate had increased by twenty beats per minute. Cortana?
He continued walking and came across a fork in the corridors, turning to the right the path was dark but it seemed secure. There were no other entrances except front and back, however the path on the left had plenty of light but there were multiple places that could hide enemies waiting to take him out if he wasn't cautious. But regardless both paths gave him a bad feeling and a familiar one at that. A blur of motion caught his eye and his radar blipped a red dot before it disappeared.
The flashlight on his shoulder activated in less than a second and John crept forward down the illuminated path. Shutting down unneeded systems he diverted the power to shields and the holographic display gave a numerical value of one hundred and fifty on the status of the shields. The blip appeared on his radar, several meters ahead of him around the corner that was now becoming visible. He clicked the safety off and held his index finger on the trigger.
His vital status jumped as his blood pressure rose; he felt fear and sweat trickled down the back of his neck as the hairs stood on their ends. His visor scanned the area around the corner and started to pick up foreign particles in the air. The color of the air also was diff- color of air! Maximizing the view he saw a brown haze float through the air in the area surrounding the corridor. Shit!
John back pedaled towards the work of the path and reconsidered his options, there was possible flood infestation. He had limited ammunition and a few fragmentation and plasma grenades. Then there was brute force using melee combat, which would technically allow him to make an escape if things got ugly. But nevertheless there was a large risk involved. Biting his lip, his tongue made contact with a warm liquid that had a coppery-iron taste to it. Blood, his life source and also the pain from his bitten lip helped him in collecting his thoughts.
Pulling out a fragmentation grenade he took a look at it before pulling the pin and throwing it towards the corner and began the countdown to detonation. His biological clock automatically took care of the process and three seconds later the grenade detonated. Sending a gust of wind that cleared up the spore-filled air up momentarily, John bolted for the corner and rounded it a second later only to come across a view that he could not fathom regardless of the limitless potential of a human mind.
In front of him was space or slip space for that matter moving away from him. The latter half of the ship completely missing or from the way it was missing it seemed to be torn away with brute force. Green semi-solid liquid covered the jagged edges of the bulkheads. As he put his hand forward the shield system flickered and dropped from one hundred fifty to three percent in a blink of an eye.
He pulled back his hand and felt a series of blisters appear instantaneously upon his flesh. As he was about turn he around he heard an ear splitting shrill and quickly turned around to come face to face with a disfigured Forerunner. Half the entity's face was rotten away revealing the inner layers of flesh and bone decaying. The blood appeared to be green and very adhesive at contact.
Before he could make contact with a melee he felt a sharp pain in his abdominal area as his eyes picked up the part-decomposed hand phasing completely through his shield and then puncturing his ultra-dense armor. The amount of pain that was inflicted upon him intensified exponentially as the tentacles entered his body and started slithering around him. Tearing through nerves, arteries, and veins and forcing themselves into his non-vital organs. He coughed and blood escaped his mouth and splashed across the inside of his visor. It felt like a million ants were crawling and tearing at the flesh of his nerves, it felt like worms coated in acid were slithering across his blood vessels.
It was a type of pain he had never felt before in his life, and feeling it for the first time was a mind-fuck. The adrenaline coursing through his system was unable to keep up with the sensory overload of pain and it pushed him into shock. John lost consciousness seconds after having his flesh penetrated by the flood-Forerunner.
He screamed loudly and in a great deal of fear and heard the crack of what could only be glass. Opening his eyes he saw his green MJOLNIR fist impacting against the window and a large crack appearing at the impact point, which then slowly impacted outwards. Like a grenade impacting the windshield of the car before detonation. Sweat dripped down his eyebrow and into his eyes causing him to blink. As his eyes closed he felt a tremor move from under him and up the metal bulkhead and window separating him from death. Despite being in MJOLNIR armor he highly doubted it could take the uncountable different laws slip space held stand-alone.
Opening his eyes he saw the glow of slip space begin to grow brighter and he did the only thing he could do at the moment, begin to take steps back slowly. Then quickly as his back neared the door the light brightened to the point where the polarization of his visor became a useless tool. Then suddenly the area in front him exploded in a shower of plasma, fire and the chaos of hyper-decompression. Luckily for him the force of the explosion sent him through the door of his room and through the bulkhead behind into another room.
Light engulfed the corridor and what was left of the room
